1Photovoltaic yield prediction using an irradiance forecast model based on multiple neural networks显示文摘In order to develop predictive control algorithms for efficient energy management and monitoring for residential grid connected photovoltaic systems, accurate and reliable photovoltaic(PV) power forecasts are required.A PV yield prediction system is presented based on an irradiance forecast model and a PV model. The PV power forecast is obtained from the irradiance forecast using the PV model. The proposed irradiance forecast model is based on multiple feed-forward neural networks. The global horizontal irradiance forecast has a mean absolute percentage error of 3.4% on a sunny day and 23% on a cloudy day for Stuttgart. 2Hepatitis C virus NS5A promotes insulin resistance through IRS-1 serine phosphorylation and increased gluconeogenesis显示文摘AIM: To investigate the mechanisms of insulin resistance in human hepatoma cells expressing hepatitis C virus(HCV) nonstructural protein 5A(NS5A).METHODS: The human hepatoma cell lines,Huh7 and Huh7.5,were infected with HCV or transientlytransfected with a vector expressing HCV NS5 A. The effect of HCV NS5 A on the status of the critical players involved in insulin signaling was analyzed using realtime quantitative polymerase chain reaction and Western blot assays. Data were analyzed using Graph Pad Prism version 5.0.RESULTS: To investigate the effect of insulin treatment on the players involved in insulin signaling pathway,we analyzed the status of insulin receptor substrate-1(IRS-1) phosphorylation in HCV infected cells or Huh7.5 cells transfected with an HCV NS5 A expression vector. Our results indicated that there was an increased phosphorylation of IRS-1(Ser307) in HCV infected or NS5 A transfected Huh7.5 cells compared to their respective controls. Furthermore,an increased phosphorylation of Akt(Ser473) was observed in HCV infected and NS5 A transfected cells compared to their mock infected cells. In contrast,we observed decreased phosphorylation of Akt Thr308 phosphorylation in HCV NS5 A transfected cells. These results suggest that Huh7.5 cells either infected with HCV or ectopically expressing HCV NS5 A alone have the potential to induce insulin resistance by the phosphorylation of IRS-1 at serine residue(Ser307) followed by decreased phosphorylation of Akt Thr308,Fox01 Ser256 and GSK3β Ser9,the downstream players of the insulin signalingpathway. Furthermore,increased expression of PECK and glucose-6-phosphatase,the molecules involved in gluconeogenesis,in HCV NS5 A transfected cells was observed.CONCLUSION: Taken together,our results suggest the role of HCV NS5 A in the induction of insulin resistance by modulating various cellular targets involved in the insulin signaling pathway.Fahed Parvaiz Sobia Manzoor Jawed Iqbal Mehuli Sarkar-Dutta Muhammad Imran Gulam Waris 2015World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,43:7
3Systematic review of emergent laparoscopic colorectal surgery for benign and malignant disease显示文摘Laparoscopic surgery has become well established in the management of both and malignant colorectal disease.The last decade has seen increasing numbers of surgeons trained to a high standard in minimallyinvasive surgery.However there has not been the same enthusiasm for the use of laparoscopy in emergency colorectal surgery.There is a perception that emergent surgery is technically more difficult and may lead to worse outcomes.The present review aims to provide a comprehensive and critical appraisal of the available literature on the use of laparoscopic colorectal surgery(LCS)in the emergency setting.The literature is broadly divided by the underlying pathology;that is,inflammatory bowel disease,diverticulitis and malignant obstruction.There were no randomized trials and the majority of the studies were case-matched series or comparative studies.The overall trend was that LCS is associated with shorter hospital stay,par or fewer complications but an increased operating time.Emergency LCS can be safely undertaken for both benign and malignant disease providing there is appropriate patient selection,the surgeon is adequately experienced and there are sufficient resources to allow for a potentially more complex operation.Manish Chand Muhammed RS Siddiqui Ashish Gupta Shahnawaz Rasheed Paris Tekkis Amjad Parvaiz Alex H Mirnezami Tahseen Qureshi 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,45:7
4Critical analysis of the literature investigating urogenital function preservation following robotic rectal cancer surgery显示文摘AIM To analyses the current literature regarding the urogenital functional outcomes of patients receiving robotic rectal cancer surgery. METHODS A comprehensive literature search of electronic databases was performed in October 2015. The following search terms were applied: 'rectal cancer' or 'colorectal cancer' and robot* or 'da Vinci' and sexual or urolog* or urinary or erect* or ejaculat* or impot* or incontinence. All original studies examining the urological and/or sexual outcomes of male and/or female patients receiving robotic rectal cancer surgery were included. Reference lists of all retrieved articles were manually searched for further relevant articles. Abstracts were independently searched by two authors. RESULTS Fifteen original studies fulfilled the inclusion criteria. A total of 1338 patients were included; 818 received robotic, 498 laparoscopic and 22 open rectal cancer surgery. Only 726(54%) patients had their urogenital function assessed via means of validated functional questionnaires. From the included studies, three found that robotic rectal cancer surgery leads to quicker recovery of male urological function and five of male sexual function as compared to laparoscopic surgery. It is unclear whether robotic surgery offers favourable urogenital outcomes in the long run for males. In female patients only two studies assessed urological and threesexual function independently to that of males. In these studies there was no difference identified between patients receiving robotic and laparoscopic rectal cancer surgery. However, in females the presented evidence was very limited making it impossible to draw any substantial conclusions. CONCLUSION There seems to be a trend towards earlier recovery of male urogenital function following robotic surgery. 5Robotic rectal cancer surgery:Results from a European multicentre case series of 240 resections and comparative analysis between cases performed with the da Vinci Si and Xi systems显示文摘Introduction:Robotic systems are designed to address the limitations of laparoscopic surgery,leading to a growing interest in robotic rectal surgery.However,certain technical limitations associated with the previous systems(da Vinci S&Si)have arguably slowed down its wholesale adoption.The latest robotic platform,the da Vinci Xi,addresses these limitations.This study aims to examine the short-term surgical outcomes of 240 single-docking fully-robotic rectal cancer resections and compare the outcomes of cases performed with the da Vinci Xi vs Si systems.Materials and methods:All consecutive patients receiving robotic rectal cancer resections from three centres between 2013 and 2018 were identified from prospectively collated databases.The baseline characteristics and short-term surgical outcomes are presented and the da Vinci Xi vs Si system outcomes are analysed.Results:A total of 240 patients were identified(124 Si,116 Xi).Median operation-time and length-of-stay were 260 minutes and 6 days respectively.Conversion and 30-day mortality rates were 0.The da Vinci Si vs Xi system analysis shows that operation-time was lower in the Si group(230 vs 300 min,p=0.000)but length-of-stay,lymph node yield and circumferential resection margin favoured the Xi group(7 vs 5 days,p=0.010;17 vs 21,p=0.000;92.7%vs 99.1%,p=0.020).Conclusion:Single-docking fully-robotic rectal cancer surgery is safe,feasible and can lead to good shortterm outcomes,making it a good alternative to laparoscopic rectal cancer surgery.The new systems technological advances may result in better short-term outcomes but further larger scale observational studies are required if we are to reach such a conclusion.Sofoklis Panteleimonitis Oliver Pickering Mukhtar Ahmad Mick Harper Tahseen Qureshi Nuno Figueiredo Amjad Parvaiz 2020Laparoscopic, Endoscopic and Robotic Surgery2020,3,1:5
6Transplantation of engineered exosomes derived from bone marrow mesenchymal stromal cells ameliorate diabetic peripheral neuropathy under electrical stimulation显示文摘Diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN)is a long-term complication associated with nerve dysfunction and uncontrolled hyperglycemia.In spite of new drug discoveries,development of effective therapy is much needed to cure DPN.Here,we have developed a combinatorial approach to provide biochemical and electrical cues,considered to be important for nerve regeneration.Exosomes derived from bone marrow mesenchymal stromal cells(BMSCs)were fused with polypyrrole nanoparticles(PpyNps)containing liposomes to deliver both the cues in a single delivery vehicle.We developed DPN rat model and injected intramuscularly the fused exosomal system to understand its long-term therapeutic effect.We found that the fused system along with electrical stimulation normalized the nerve conduction velocity(57.60±0.45 m/s)and compound muscle action potential(16.96±0.73 mV)similar to healthy control(58.53±1.10 m/s;18.19±1.45 mV).Gastrocnemius muscle morphology,muscle mass,and integrity were recovered after treatment.Interestingly,we also observed paracrine effect of delivered exosomes in controlling hyperglycemia and loss in body weight and also showed attenuation of damage to the tissues such as the pancreas,kidney,and liver.This work provides a promising effective treatment and also contribute cutting edge therapeutic approach for the treatment of DPN.Anamika Singh Alok Raghav Parvaiz Ahmad Shiekh Ashok Kumar 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,8:4

10Global dynamics of a fractional-order SIR epidemic model with memory显示文摘In this paper,an investigation and analysis of a nonlinear fractional-order SIR epidemic model with Crowley-Martin type functional response and Holling type-II treatment rate are established along the memory.The existence and stability of the equilibrium points are investigated.The sufficient conditions for the persistence of the disease are provided.First,a threshold value,Ro,is obtained which determines the stability of equilibria,then model equilibria are determined and their stability analysis is considered by using fractional Routh-Hurwitz stability criterion and fractional La-Salle invariant principle.The fractional derivative is taken in Caputo sense and the numerical solution of the model is obtained by LI scheme which involves the memory trace that can capture and integrate all past activity.Meanwhile,by using Lyapunov functional approach,the global dynamics of the endemic equilibrium point is discussed.Further,some numerical simulations are performed to illustrate the effectiveness of the theoretical results obtained.The outcome of the study reveals that the applied LI scheme is computationally very strong and effective to analyze fractional-order differential equations arising in disease dynamics.The results show that order of the fractional derivative has a significant effect on the dynamic process.Also,from the results,it is obvious that the memory effect is zero for p=1.When the fractional-order p is decreased from 1,the memory trace nonlinearly increases from 0,and its dynamics strongly depends on time.The memory effect points out the difference between the derivatives of the fractional-order and integer order.Parvaiz Ahmad Naik 2020International Journal of Biomathematics2020,13,8:1
