1Overview of immunosuppression in liver transplantation显示文摘Continued advances in surgical techniques and immunosuppressive therapy have allowed liver transplantation to become an extremely successful treatment option for patients with end-stage liver disease.Beginning with the revolutionary discovery of cyclosporine in the 1970s,immunosuppressive regimens have evolved greatly and current statistics confirm one-year graft survival rates in excess of 80%. Immunosuppressive regimens include calcineurin inhibitors,anti-metabolites,mTOR inhibitors,steroids and antibody-based therapies.These agents target different sites in the T cell activation cascade,usually by inhibiting T cell activation or via T cell depletion.They are used as induction therapy in the immediate periand post-operative period,as long-term maintenance medications to preserve graft function and as salvage therapy for acute rejection in liver transplant recipients. 3Wx^mp基因背景下可溶性淀粉合成酶基因SSⅡa和去分支酶基因PUL对水稻蒸煮食味品质的影响显示文摘【目的】分析在同一主效基因(Wx^mp)背景下可溶性淀粉合成酶基因SSⅡa和去分支酶基因PUL对稻米蒸煮食味品质的影响,以期为水稻品质遗传改良提供依据。【方法】选择在SSⅡa和PUL存在多态性而其他淀粉合成酶相关基因没有多态性的半糯品系宁0145和粳稻品种武运粳21进行杂交,获得F2群体与F3株系。利用分子标记,选择含有Wx^mp基因的F2单株与F3株系,将这些F2单株与F3株系分成SSⅡa^nPUL^n、SSⅡa^nPUL^w、SSⅡa^wPUL^n和SSⅡa^wPUL^w4种基因型(n和w分别表示该基因来源于宁0145和武运粳21),分析不同基因型蒸煮食味品质性状的差异,探讨同一Wxmp基因背景下不同SSⅡa和PUL等位基因对蒸煮食味品质性状的影响。【结果】不同基因型间蒸煮食味品质性状均存在显著差异,来源于武运粳21的SSⅡa^w基因和PUL^w基因分别使直链淀粉含量增加0.29%~1.00%和0.62%~1.18%,且PUL的效应大于SSⅡa,两者间存在互作效应。SSⅡa^w基因和PUL^w基因降低胶稠度和崩解值,提高了热浆黏度、冷胶黏度、消减值和回复值,对糊化温度、峰值黏度和峰值时间的作用较小。【结论】明确了Wx^mp背景下SSⅡa和PUL基因对稻米蒸煮食味品质的遗传效应,该研究结果为SSⅡa和PUL基因的分子标记辅助选择改良稻米品质提供了理论依据。姚姝 张亚东 刘燕清 赵春芳 周丽慧 陈涛 赵庆勇 朱镇 Balakrishna PILLAY 王才林 2020中国水稻科学2020,34,3:12
4Seed Extract of Psidium guajava as Ecofriendly Corrosion Inhibitor for Carbon Steel in Hydrochloric Acid Medium显示文摘The anticorrosion characteristics of the seeds of Psidium guajava (P. guajava) fruits on carbon steel in acid medium were examined with weight loss data and subsequently thermodynamic factors such as heat of adsorption of the inhibitor on the metal surface (Q), change in entropy (△S), change in free energy of the reaction (△G), corrosion rate (CR) and energy of activation for corrosion reaction of carbon steel (E) were also evaluated. Adsorption isotherm was plotted to study the adsorption of the inhibitor on the metal surface with increasing concentration of the inhibitor. The functional groups responsible for inhibition were investigated using Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectra. Electrochemical parameters were evaluated through the potentiodynamic Tafel polarization and impedance spectral studies. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) micrographs were recorded to investigate the change in surface morphology. The complete study reveals the e?ciency of seed extract of P. guajava as a safe, ecofriendly and alternate corrosion inhibitor for carbon steel in acid medium.K.P.Vinod Kumar M. 5水稻Wxmp背景下SSⅡa和SSⅢa等位变异及其互作对蒸煮食味品质的影响显示文摘为了明确Wxmp基因背景下不同半糯粳稻品质差异的原因,以淀粉合成酶基因SSⅡa和SSⅢa表现多态性而其他淀粉合成相关基因无多态性的武粳13和关东194 (Milky Princess)杂交后代衍生的64个半糯品系为材料,分析了Wxmp基因背景下, SSⅡa和SSⅢa基因等位变异对直链淀粉含量(amylose content, AC)、胶稠度(gel consistency, GC)、糊化温度(gelatinization temperature,GT)及RVA谱特征值的影响。结果表明,SSⅡa和SSⅢa等位变异对AC、GC、GT和RVA谱特征值都有显著影响,且2个基因间存在互作效应。SSⅡa2和SSⅢa2 (2表示该基因来源于非半糯亲本武粳13)有使AC增高的趋势,分别使AC提高1.87%和1.23%, 2年结果基本接近。单个SSⅡa和SSⅢa等位变异对GT无显著影响,而基因型SSⅡa1SSⅢa1(1表示该基因来源于半糯亲本关东194)的GT比SSⅡa2SSⅢa2高1.34℃,达显著水平,表明2个基因的互作对GT有显著影响。GC在不同基因型间均存在极显著差异, SSⅡa2和SSⅢa1可分别使GC增加8.74mm和9.62mm。从2个基因的互作效应来看,基因型SSⅡa2SSⅢa1的GC比基因型SSⅡa1SSⅢa2和SSⅡa2SSⅢa2分别增加10.64 mm和16.95 mm。SSⅡa2使最高黏度、热浆黏度、冷胶黏度、崩解值增加,回复值和消减值下降;而SSⅢa2的效应则相反。2个基因的互作效应,最高黏度、热浆黏度和冷胶黏度均以SSⅡa2SSⅢa1最大,崩解值和回复值均以SSⅡa2SSⅢa2最大,消减值SSⅡa2SSⅢa1最小。本研究结果为半糯粳稻蒸煮食味品质的改良提供了一定的理论依据。姚姝 张亚东 刘燕清 赵春芳 周丽慧 陈涛 赵庆勇 朱镇 Balakrishna Pillay 王才林 2020作物学报2020,46,11:11
6Impacts of heavy metals on 1,2-dichloroethane biodegradation in co-contaminated soil显示文摘1,2-Dichloroethane (DCA), a potential mutagen and carcinogen, is commonly introduced into the environment through its industrial and agricultural use. In this study, the impact of lead and mercury on DCA degradation in soil was investigated, owing to the complex co-contamination problem frequently encountered in most sites. 1,2-Dichloroethane was degraded readily in both contaminated loam and clay soils with the degradation rate constants ranging between 0.370-0.536 week1 and 0.309-0.417 week1, respectively. The presence of heavy metals have a negative impact on DCA degradation in both soil types, resulting in up to 24.11% reduction in DCA degradation within one week. Both biostimulation and treatment additives increased DCA degradation, with the best degradation observed upon addition of glucose and a combination of diphosphate salt and sodium chloride, leading to about 17.91% and 43.50% increase in DCA degradation, respectively. The results have promising potential for effective remediation of soils co-contaminated with chlorinated organics and heavy metals. However, the best bioremediation strategy will depend on the soil types, microbial population present in the soil matrices, nutrients availability and metal forms.Ademola O. 7Acute portal vein thrombosis after liver transplant presenting with subtle ultrasound abnormalities:A case report and literature review显示文摘BACKGROUND Portal vein thrombosis(PVT) after liver transplantation(LT) is an uncommon complication with potential for significant morbidity and mortality that transplant providers should be cognizant of.Recognizing subtle changes in postoperative ultrasounds that could herald but do not definitively diagnose PVT is paramount.CASE SUMMARY A 30-year-old female with a history of alcohol-related cirrhosis presented with painless jaundice and received a deceased donor orthotopic liver transplant.On the first two days post-operatively,her liver Doppler ultrasounds showed a patent portal vein,increased hepatic arterial diastolic flows,and reduced hepatic arterial resistive indices.She was asymptomatic with improving labs.On postoperative day three,her resistive indices declined further,and computed tomography of the abdomen revealed a large extra-hepatic PVT.The patient then underwent emergent percutaneous venography with tissue plasminogen activator administration,angioplasty,and stent placement.Aspirin was started to prevent stent thrombosis.Follow-up ultrasounds showed a patent portal vein and improved hepatic arterial resistive indices.Her graft function improved to normal by discharge.Although decreased hepatic artery resistive indices and increased diastolic flows on ultrasound are often associated with hepatic arterial stenosis post-LT,PVT can also cause these findings.CONCLUSION Reduced hepatic arterial resistive indices on ultrasound can signify PVT post-LT,and thrombolysis,angioplasty,and stent placement are efficacious treatments.Thomas Couri Carla Harmath Talia Baker Anjana Pillai 2019World Journal of Hepatology2019,11,2:8
8Effect of technical parameters on transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunts utilizing stent grafts显示文摘AIM: To assess the effect of technical parameters on outcomes of transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt(TIPS) created using a stent graft.METHODS: The medical records of 68 patients who underwent TIPS placement with a stent graft from 2008 to 2014 were reviewed by two radiologists blinded to the patient outcomes.Digital Subtraction Angiographic images with a measuring catheter in two orthogonal planes was used to determine the TIPS stent-to-inferior vena cava distance(SIVCD),hepatic vein to parenchymal tract angle(HVTA),portal vein to parenchymal tract angle(PVTA),and the accessed portal vein.The length and diameter of the TIPS stent and the use of concurrent variceal embolization were recorded by review of the patient's procedure note.Data on re-intervention within 30 d of TIPS placement,recurrence of symptoms,and survival were collected through the patient's chart.Cox proportional regression analysis was performed to assess the effect of these technical parameters on primary patency of TIPS,time to recurrence of symptoms,and all-cause mortality.RESULTS: There was no significant associationbetween the SIVCD and primary patency(P = 0.23),time to recurrence of symptoms(P = 0.83),or allcause mortality(P = 0.18).The 3,6,and 12-mo primary patency rates for a SIVCD ≥ 1.5 cm were 82.4%,64.7%,and 50.3% compared to 89.3%,83.8%,and 60.6% for a SIVCD of < 1.5 cm(P = 0.29).The median time to stenosis for a SIVCD of ≥ 1.5 cm was 19.1 mo vs 15.1 mo for a SIVCD of < 1.5 cm(P = 0.48).There was no significant association between the following factors and primary patency: HVTA(P = 0.99),PVTA(P = 0.65),accessed portal vein(P = 0.35),TIPS stent diameter(P = 0.93),TIPS stent length(P = 0.48),concurrent variceal embolization(P = 0.13) and reinterventions within 30 d(P = 0.24).Furthermore,there was no correlation between these technical parameters and time to recurrence of symptoms or all-cause mortality.Recurrence of symptoms was associated with stent graft stenosis(P = 0.03).CONCLUSION: TIPS stent-to-caval distance and other parameters have no significant effect on primary patency,time to recurrence of symptoms,or all-cause mortality following TIPS with a stent-graft.Brice Andring Sanjeeva P Kalva Patrick Sutphin Rajiv Srinivasa Alvin Anene Marc Burrell Yin Xi Anil K Pillai 2015World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,26:7
9Cerebrovascular reactivity mapping for brain tumor presurgical planning显示文摘This article provides a review of Blood Oxygen Level Dependent functional magnetic resonance imaging(BOLD fMRI)applications for presurgical mapping in patients with brain tumors who are being considered for lesion resection.Initially,the physical principle of the BOLD effect is discussed,followed by a general overview of the aims of presurgical planning.Subsequently,a review of sensorimotor,language and visual paradigms that are typically utilized in clinical fMRI is provided,followed by a brief description of studies demonstrating the clinical impact of preoperative BOLD fMRI.After this thorough introduction to presurgical fMRI,a detailed explanation of the phenomenon of neurovascular uncoupling(NVU),a major limitation of fMRI,is provided,followed by a discussion of the different approaches taken for BOLD cerebrovascular reactivity(CVR)mapping,which is an effective method of detecting NVU.We then include one clinical case which demonstrates the value of CVR mapping in clinical preoperative fMRI interpretation.The paper then concludes with a brief review of applications of CVR mapping other than for presurgical mapping.Domenico Zaca Jun Hua Jay J Pillai 2011World Journal of Clinical Oncology2011,2,7:7
10白细胞介素-1基因多态性与类风湿关节炎病情活动及骨代谢的相关性显示文摘目的 探讨IL 1α和 β基因多态性与类风湿关节炎 (RA)疾病活动性和骨代谢的相关以及IL 1基因多态性与RA优势基因 (motifgene)之间的相关关系。 方法 检测了 6 5例RA患者和6 0例非风湿病患者的IL 1等位基因分布。IL 1基因多态性分析采用PCR RFLP方法 ,HLA DR分型采用PCR SSOP方法。Fisher′s检验及方差分析被用于基因频率和携带率及临床参数统计。结果 IL 1α的频率和携带率在RA病人和对照组之间差异无显著性。在女性RA病人中IL 1β纯合子等位基因 2的出现频率更高 ,在男性RA病人中等位基因 1的频率较高而等位基因 2的携带率较低。IL 1β等位基因 2携带率与C反应蛋白 (CRP)、红细胞沉降率 (ESR)、关节痛和骨质密度 (BMD)呈相关 ,与尿脱氧吡啶 /肌酐比值 (Udpd/Crea)水平及维生素D3 水平呈负相关。IL 1α等位基因 1与CRP呈负相关 ,与类风湿因子 (RF)和关节肿胀呈正相关。IL 1α等位基因 2的出现伴随较高的ESR、健康质量评估积分 (HAQ) ,维生素D3 水平和较低的RF滴度、肿胀关节数 (SJC)和BMD。HLA DRB1RA优势等位基因和IL 1β等位基因 2的同时出现对RA的一些临床参数并没有影响。 结论 RA与IL 1基因多态性显著相关 ,特别是IL 1β等位基因 2与病情活动及骨密度增高直接相关。HLA张晓 Lindon Llamado Iris Pillay Patrical Price Robert Will 2001中华风湿病学杂志2001,5,2:7
11Fatigue reliability analysis of fixed offshore structures:A first passage problem approach显示文摘This paper describes a methodology for computation of reliability of members of fixed offshore platform structures, with respect to fatigue. Failure criteria were formulated using fracture mechanics principle. The problem is coined as a “first passage problem”. The method was illustrated through application to a typical plane frame structure. The fatigue reliability degradation curve established can be used for planning in-service inspection of offshore platforms. 12Effect of surface blowing on aerodynamic characteristics of tubercled straight wing显示文摘Recent research proves that wings with leading-edge tubercles have the ability to perform efficiently in post-stall region over the conventional straight wing. Moreover, the conventional straight wing outperforms the tubercled wing at a pre-stall region which is quintessential. Even though tubercled wing offers great performance enhancement, because of the complexity of the flow, the trough region of the tubercled wing is more prone to flow separation. Henceforth, the present paper aims at surface blowing – an active flow control technique over the tubercled wing to enhance the aerodynamic efficiency by positively influencing its lift characteristics without causing any additional drag penalty. Flow parameters like blowing velocity ratios and the location of blowing were chosen to find the optimised configuration keeping the amplitude and frequency of the leading-edge tubercles constant as 0.12 c and 0.25 c respectively. Numerical investigations were carried out over the baseline tubercled wing and tubercled wing with surface blowing at various blowing jet velocity ratios 0.5, 1 and 2 over four different chordwise locations ranging from 0.3 c to 0.8 c.The results confirm that blowing at various x/c with different blowing velocity ratios performs better than the conventional tubercled wing. Comparatively, blowing velocity ratio 2 at 0.3 c shows peak performance of about 28% enhancement in the lift characteristics relative to the baseline model. Particularly, in the pre-stall region, 25–50% increase in aerodynamic efficiency is evident over the tubercled wing with surface blowing compared with the baseline case. 13Predictors of malignancy in chronic calcific pancreatitis with head mass显示文摘AIM: To prospectively analyse the clinical, biochemical and radiological characteristics of the mass lesions arising in a background of chronic calcific pancreatitis (CCP). METHODS: Eighty three patients, who presented with chronic pancreatitis (CP) and a mass lesion in the head of pancreas between February 2005 and December 2011, were included in the study. Patients who were identified to have malignancy underwent Whipple' s procedure and patients whose investigations were suggestive of a benign lesion underwent Frey's procedure. Student t-test was used to compare the mean values of imaging findings [common bile duct (CBD), main pancreatic duct (MPD) size] and laboratory data [Serum bilirubin, carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA 19-9)] between the groups. Receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC curve) analysis was done to calculate the cutoff valves of serum bilirubin, CA 19-9, MPD and CBD size. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive valve (PPV) and negative predictive value (NPV) were calculated using these cut off points. Multivariate analysis was performed using logistic regression model. RESULTS: The study included 56 men (67.5%) and 27 women (32.5%). Sixty (72.3%) patients had tropical calcific pancreatitis and 23 (27.7%) had alcohol related CCP. Histologically, it was confirmed that 55 (66.3%) of the 83 patients had an inflammatory head mass and 28 (33.7%) had a malignant head mass. The mean age of individuals with benign inflammatory mass and those with malignant mass was 38.4 years and 45 years respectively. Significant clinical features that predicted a malignant head mass in CP were presence of a head mass in CCP of tropics, old age, jaundice, sudden worsening abdominal pain, gastric outlet obstruction and significant weight loss (P ≤ 0.05). The ROC curve analysis showed a cut off value of 5.8 mg/dL for serum bilirubin, 127 U/mL for CA 19-9, 11.5 mm for MPD size and 14.5 mm for CBD size. 14Clinical utility of cerebrovascular reactivity mapping in patients with low grade gliomas显示文摘AIM:To evaluate neurovascular uncoupling(NVU)associated with low grade gliomas(LGG)using blood oxygen level dependent(BOLD)cerebrovascular reactivity mapping.METHODS:Seven patients with low grade gliomas referred by neurosurgeons for presurgical mapping were included in this pilot study.Cerebrovascular reactivity(CVR)mapping was performed by acquiring BOLD images while patients performed a block-design breath-hold(BH)hypercapnia task.CVR mapping was expressed as BOLD percentage signal change(PSC)from baseline associated with performance of the BH hypercapnia task.Standard T2*Dynamic Susceptibility Contrast perfusion imaging was performed and relative cerebral blood volume(rCBV)and relative cerebral blood flow(rCBF)maps were generated.Structural T1 weighted MR images were also acquired.A correlation analysis between intratumoral normalized(via ratio with contralateral homologous regions)BOLD BH PSC[referred to as(nCVR)]and intratumoral normalized resting state rCBV(rCBF)values(i.e.,nCBV and nCBF,respectively)was performed.RESULTS:No significant correlation was seen between the normalized BOLD BH PSC(i.e.,nCBV)and nCBV or nCBF.However,the average nCVR(median=0.50,z=-2.28,P=0.01)was significantly less than 1.0,indicating abnormally reduced vascular responses in the tumor regions relative to normal contralesional homologous regions,whereas the average nCBV(median=0.94,z=-0.92,P=0.375)and nCBF(median=0.93,z=-1.16,P=0.25)were not significantly higher or lower than 1.0,indicating iso-perfusion in the tumor regions relative to normal contralesional homologous regions.These findings suggest that in LGG,hyperperfusion that is seen in high grade gliomas is not present,but,nevertheless,abnormally decreased regional CVR is present within and adjacent to LGG.Since the patients all demonstrated at least some residual function attributable to the cortical regions of impaired CVR,but were incapable of producing a BOLD response in these regions regardless of the tasks performed,such regionally decreased CVR is indicative of NVU.The low nCVR ratios indicate high prevalence of NVU in this LGG cohort,which is an important consideration in the interpretation of clinical presurgical mapping with functional magnetic resonance(MR)imaging.CONCLUSION:Our preliminary study shows that BH CVR mapping is clinically feasible and demonstrates an unexpectedly high prevalence of NVU in patients with LGG.Jay J Pillai Domenico Zacá 2011World Journal of Clinical Oncology2011,2,12:4
15Antioxidant and antiangiogenic activities of the essential oils of Myristica fragrans and Morinda citrifolia显示文摘Objective:Toinvestigate the anti-angiogenic activity and antioxidant properties of Myristica fragrans(M.fragrans)(nutmeg) and Morinda citrifolia(M.citrifolia)(mengkudu) oils. Methods:The nutmeg and megkudu essential oils were obtained by steam distillation. The antioxidant activities of both essenlial oils were delermined by beta-carotene/ linoleic acid bleaching assay and reducing power while the anti-angiogenic activity was investigated using rat aortic ring assay using various concentrations.Results:The results showed that nutmeg oil has higher antioxidant activity than mengkudu oil.The nutmeg oil effectively inhibited the oxidation of linoleic acid with(88.68±0.1)%while the inhibition percentage of oxidation of linoleic acid of the mengkudu oil is(69.44±0.4)%.The nutmeg oil and mengkudu oil showed reducing power with an EC50 value of 181.4μg/mL and 3 043.0μg/mL,respectively.The anliangiogenic activity of nutmeg oil showed significant antiangiogenic activity with IC50 of 77.64μg/mL comparing to mengkudu oil which exhibits IC50 of 109.30μg/mL.Conclusion:Bioactive compound(s) will be isolated from the nutmeg essential oil to be developed as antiangiogenic drugs.Suthagar Pillai Piaru Roziahanim Mahmud Amin Malik Shah Abdul Majid Zeyad Daoud Mahmoud Nassar 2012Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2012,5,4:3

17Pathological abnormalities in splenic vasculature in non-cirrhotic portal hypertension:Its relevance in the management of portal hypertension显示文摘BACKGROUND Portal hypertension(PH)is associated with changes in vascular structure and function of the portosplenomesenteric system(PSMS).This is referred to as portal hypertensive vasculopathy.Pathological abnormalities of PSMS has been described in the literature for cirrhotic patients.Raised portal pressure and hyperdynamic circulation are thought to be the underlying cause of this vasculopathy.In view of this,it is expected that pathological changes in splenic and portal vein similar to those reported in cirrhotic patients with PH may also be present in patients with non-cirrhotic PH(NCPH).AIM To investigate pathological abnormalities of splenic vein in patients with NCPH,and suggest its possible implications in the management of PH.METHODS A prospective observational study was performed on 116 patients with NCPH[Extrahepatic portal vein obstruction(EHPVO):53 and non-cirrhotic portal fibrosis(NCPF):63]who underwent proximal splenorenal shunt(PSRS),interposition shunt or splenectomy with devascularization in JIPMER,Pondicherry,India,a tertiary level referral center,between 2011-2016.All patients were evaluated by Doppler study of PSMS,computed tomography portovenogram and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy.An acoustic resonance forced impulse(ARFI)scan and abdomen ultrasound were done for all cases to exclude cirrhosis.Intraoperative and histopathological assessment of the harvested splenic vein was performed in all.The study group was divided into delayed and early presentation based on the median duration of symptoms(i.e.108 mo).RESULTS The study group comprising of 116 patients[77(66%)females and 39(34%)males]with NCPH had a median age of 22 years.Median duration of symptoms was 108 mo.The most common presentation in both EHPVO and NCPF patients was upper gastrointestinal bleeding(hematemesis and melena).The ARFI scan revealed a median score of 1.2(1.0-1.8)m/s for EHPVO and 1.5(0.9-2.8)m/s for NCPF.PSRS was performed in 84 patients(two of whom underwent interposition PSRS using a 10 mm Dacron graft);splenoadrenal shunt in 9;interposition mesocaval shunt in 5;interposition 1st jejunal to caval shunt in 1 patient and devascularization with splenectomy in 17 patients.Median presplenectomy portal pressure was 25(range:15-51)mm Hg.In 77%cases,the splenic vein was abnormal upon intraoperative assessment.Under macroscopic examination,wall thickening was observed in 108(93%),venous thrombosis in 32(28%)and vein wall calcification in 27(23%)cases.Upon examination under a surgical magnification loupe,21(18%)patients had intimal defects in the splenic vein.Histopathological examination of veins was abnormal in all cases.Medial hypertrophy was noted in nearly all patients(107/116),while intimal fibrosis was seen in 30%.Ninety one percent of patients with intimal fibrosis also had venous thrombosis.Vein wall calcification was found in 22%,all of whom had intimal fibrosis and venous thrombosis.The proportion of patients with pathological abnormalities in the splenic vein were significantly greater in the delayed presentation group as compared to the early presentation group.CONCLUSION Pathological changes in the splenic vein similar to those in cirrhotic patients with PH are noted in NCPH.We recommend that PH in NCPH be treated as systemic and pulmonary hypertension equivalent in the gastrointestinal tract,and that early aggressive therapy be initiated to reduce portal pressure and hemodynamic stress to avoid potential lethal effects.Shahana Gupta Biju Pottakkat Surendra Kumar Verma Raja Kalayarasan Sandip Chandrasekar A Ajith Ananthakrishna Pillai 2020World Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery2020,12,1:3
18Carboxymethyl cellulose thiol-imprinted polymers:Synthesis, characterization and selective Hg(Ⅱ) adsorption显示文摘Sulfur containing ion imprinted polymers(S-IIPs) were applied for the uptake of Hg(Ⅱ) from aqueous solution. Cysteamine which was used as the ligand for Hg(Ⅱ) complexation, was grafted along the epichlorohydrin crosslinked carboxylated carboxymethyl cellulose polymer chain through an amide reaction. The adsorption ability of S-IIPs towards Hg(Ⅱ)was investigated by kinetic and isotherm models, which, corresponding, showed that the adsorption process followed a pseudo-second-order, fitted well with the Langmuir isotherm with a maximum adsorption capacity of 80 mg/g. Moreover, thermodynamic studies indicated an endothermic and spontaneous reaction with the tendency of an enhanced randomness at the surface of the S-IIPs with temperature increases. S-IIPs indicated a high degree of selectivity towards Hg(Ⅱ) in the presence of Cu^(2+), Zn^(2+), Co^(2+), Pb^(2+)and Cd^(2+).Furthermore, the efficiency of S-IIPs was also evaluated against real samples showing86.78%, 91.88%, and 99.10% recovery for Hg(Ⅱ) wastewater, ground water and tap water,respectively. 19Phosphine functionalised multiwalled carbon nanotubes:A new adsorbent for the removal of nickel from aqueous solution显示文摘Synthesised triphenylphosphine-linked multiwalled carbon nanotubes (Tpp-MWCNTs) were used to study the adsorption of nickel in aqueous solutions and their adsorption capabilities were compared with purified MWCNTs.The adsorption capacity increased with an increase in pH for all adsorbents.The adsorption equilibrium was reached in 40 and 30 min for purified MWCNTs and Tpp-MWCNTs,respectively.Both Freundlich and Langmuir isotherms used to investigate the adsorption process fitted the experimental data well with the correlation coefficient R 2 close to 1 for all adsorbents.On the other hand,the experimental data fitted well with a pseudo secondorder model.The speciation of nickel also influenced the adsorption on the purified and Tpp-MWCNTs.The adsorbents used in this study showed superior adsorption capacity when compared to other adsorbents reported in the literature.Muleja Anga Adolph Yangkou Mbianda Xavier Pillay Kriveshini Krause Rui 2012Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,6:2
