1Whole-genome sequencing provides insights into the genetic diversity and domestication of bitter gourd(Momordica spp.)显示文摘Bitter gourd(Momordica charantia)is a popular cultivated vegetable in Asian and African countries.To reveal the characteristics of the genomic structure,evolutionary trajectory,and genetic basis underlying the domestication of bitter gourd,we performed whole-genome sequencing of the cultivar Dali-11 and the wild small-fruited line TR and resequencing of 187 bitter gourd germplasms from 16 countries.The major gene clusters(Bi clusters)for the biosynthesis of cucurbitane triterpenoids,which confer a bitter taste,are highly conserved in cucumber,melon,and watermelon.Comparative analysis among cucurbit genomes revealed that the Bi cluster involved in cucurbitane triterpenoid biosynthesis is absent in bitter gourd.Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the TR group,including 21 bitter gourd germplasms,may belong to a new species or subspecies independent from M.charantia.Furthermore,we found that the remaining 166 M.charantia germplasms are geographically differentiated,and we identified 710,412,and 290 candidate domestication genes in the South Asia,Southeast Asia,and China populations,respectively.This study provides new insights into bitter gourd genetic diversity and domestication and will facilitate the future genomics-enabled improvement of bitter gourd.Junjie Cui Yan Yang Shaobo Luo Le Wang Rukui Huang Qingfang Wen Xiaoxia Han Nansheng Miao Jiaowen Cheng Ziji Liu Changyuan Zhang Chengcheng Feng Haisheng Zhu Jianwen Su Xinjian Wan Fang Hu Yu Niu Xiaoming Zheng Yulan Yang Dai Shan Zhensheng Dong Weiming He Narinder P.S.Dhillon Kailin Hu 2020Horticulture Research2020,7,1:7

4Nasopharyngeal carcinoma in the Northeastern states of India显示文摘Nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC) is a rare disease in most parts of the world, except for Southeast Asia, some parts of North Africa and the Arctic. It is mostly seen in people of Chinese origin. In India, NPC is also rare, except for the Hill States of Northeast India, particularly Nagaland, Manipur, and Mizoram. The striking feature of NPC in Northeast India is that the incidence ranges over the complete spectrum from the lowest (as 0.5/100 000 to 2.0/100 000 among Caucasoid) to the highest (as ~20/100 000 among Cantonese/Zhongshan dialect Chinese). The age-adjusted rate of NPC in Kohima district of Nagaland State is 19.4/100 000, which is among the highest recorded rates. By contrast, in Assam, one of the so-called Hill States but not itself a hilly state, NPC is much less common. The Northeastern region is distinguished by a preponderance of the Tibeto-Burman languages and by variable mongoloid features among peoples of the region. The nature of the migratory populations who are presumed to be bearers of the mongoloid risk is unknown, but these NPC occurrence features provide an outstanding opportunity for NPC risk investigation, such as that of the hypothesis of Wee et al. for westward displacement of Chinese aborigines following the last glacial maximum.Amal Chandra Kataki Malcolm J. 17Copper(Ⅱ) sulfide nanostructures and its nanohybrids: recent trends, future perspectives and current challenges显示文摘Among various metal chalcogenides,metal oxides and phases of copper sulfide,copper(Ⅱ)sulfide(covellite,CuS)nanostructures have enjoyed special attentiveness from researchers and scientists across the world owing to their complicated structure,peculiar composition and valency,attractive and panoramic morphologies,optical and electrical conductivity,less toxicity,and biocompatibility that can be exploited in advanced and technological applications.This review paper presents a brief idea about crystal structure,composition,and various chemical methods.The mechanism and effect of reaction parameters on the evolution of versatile and attractive morphologies have been described.Physical properties of CuS and its hybrid nanostructures,such as morphology and optical,mechanical,electrical,thermal,and thermoelectrical properties,have been carefully reviewed.A concise account of CuS and its hybrid nanostructures’diverse applications in emerging and recent applications such as energy storage devices(lithium-ion batteries,supercapacitance),sensors,field emission,photovoltaic cells,organic pollutant removal,electromagnetic wave absorption,and emerging biomedical field(drug delivery,photothermal ablation,deoxyribonucleic acid detection,anti-microbial and theranostic)has also been elucidated.Finally,the prospects,scope,and challenges of CuS nanostructures have been discussed precisely.Narinder Singh 2023Frontiers of Materials Science2023,17,3:1
