| 1 | Evolving concepts in bone infection: redefining “biofilm”,“acute vs. chronic osteomyelitis”, “the immune proteome” and “local antibiotic therapy”显示文摘Osteomyelitis is a devastating disease caused by microbial infection of bone. While the frequency of infection following elective orthopedic surgery is low, rates of reinfection are disturbingly high. Staphylococcus aureus is responsible for the majority of chronic osteomyelitis cases and is often considered to be incurable due to bacterial persistence deep within bone. Unfortunately, there is no consensus on clinical classifications of osteomyelitis and the ensuing treatment algorithm. Given the high patient morbidity,mortality, and economic burden caused by osteomyelitis, it is important to elucidate mechanisms of bone infection to inform novel strategies for prevention and curative treatment. Recent discoveries in this field have identified three distinct reservoirs of bacterial biofilm including: Staphylococcal abscess communities in the local soft tissue and bone marrow, glycocalyx formation on implant hardware and necrotic tissue, and colonization of the osteocyte-lacuno canalicular network(OLCN) of cortical bone. In contrast, S.aureus intracellular persistence in bone cells has not been substantiated in vivo, which challenges this mode of chronic osteomyelitis. There have also been major advances in our understanding of the immune proteome against S. aureus, from clinical studies of serum antibodies and media enriched for newly synthesized antibodies(MENSA), which may provide new opportunities for osteomyelitis diagnosis, prognosis, and vaccine development. Finally, novel therapies such as antimicrobial implant coatings and antibiotic impregnated 3D-printed scaffolds represent promising strategies for preventing and managing this devastating disease. | 2 | Mechanical Properties of Carbon Epoxy Prepreg Insert Phenolic Resin Injection Moldings显示文摘This study focuses on the insert-injection molding process. The thermoset composite inserts in this study were carbon fiber/epoxy (CF/Epoxy) prepreg sheets. The injected molded part was glass fiber contained phenolic resin (GF/PF). The CF/Epoxy was placed in the mold cavity prior to injecting GF/PF onto the inserted injection molded CF/Epoxy specimens. The role of adhesion between the inserted part and injected resin on the mechanical properties was evaluated by 3 point bending and impact tests. In addition, the effect of prepreg orientation on the mechanical properties of the prepreg inserted-injection molding system was investigated. It was found that the prepreg with unidirectional orientation significantly improved flexural and impact strength of the inserted injection molding composites, providing better support and resistance to bending and impact loading. | 3 | Simulation of the Interphase of Insert Injection Moldings显示文摘In this work, the generalizing of the finite element method (FEM) of thermoplastic prepreg insert injection molding composites was investigated. The specimens were prepared using glass fiber/polyamidc 6 (GF/PA6) inserted prepreg, and their characteristics were investigated and compared under ANSYS workbench program. The prediction of the bending initial fracture point under analytical tensile testing with interlayer on prepreg insert moldings was focused. It was found that the bending initial fracture point was applied to predict by matching the shear stress. There was obtained from analytical tensile testing and bending analysis. | 14 | Tracing founder haplotypes of Japanese apple varieties: application in genomic prediction and genome-wide association study显示文摘Haplotypes provide useful information for genomics-based approaches,genomic prediction,and genome-wide association study.As a small number of superior founders have contributed largely to the breeding history of fruit trees,the information of founder haplotypes may be relevant for performing the genomics-based approaches in these plants.In this study,we proposed a method to estimate 14 haplotypes from 7 founders and automatically trace the haplotypes forward to apple parental(185 varieties)and breeding(659 F 1 individuals from 16 full-sib families)populations based on 11,786 single-nucleotide polymorphisms,by combining multiple algorithms.Overall,92%of the single-nucleotide polymorphisms information in the parental and breeding populations was characterized by the 14 founder haplotypes.The use of founder haplotype information improved the accuracy of genomic prediction in 7 traits and the resolution of genome-wide association study in 13 out of 27 fruit quality traits analyzed in this study.We also visualized the significant propagation of the founder haplotype with the largest genetic effect in genome-wide association study over the pedigree tree of the parental population.These results suggest that the information of founder haplotypes can be useful for not only genetic improvement of fruit quality traits in apples but also for understanding the selection history of founder haplotypes in the breeding program of Japanese apple varieties. | Mai FMinamikawa Miyuki Kunihisa Koji Noshita Shigeki Moriya Kazuyuki Abe Takeshi Hayashi Yuichi Katayose Toshimi Matsumoto Chikako Nishitani Shingo Terakami Toshiya Yamamoto Hiroyoshi Iwata | 2021 | Horticulture Research2021,8,1: | 1 |
