Factors influencing hybrid maize farmers' risk attitudes and their perceptions in Punjab Province,Pakistan显示文摘Hybrid maize farmers have to face diverse kinds of climate, biological, price and financial risks. Farmers' risk perceptions and risk attitudes are essential elements influencing farm operations and management decisions. However, this important issue has been overlooked in the contemporary studies and therefore there is a dearth of literature on this important issue. The present research is therefore, an attempt to fill this gap. This study aims to quantify hybrid maize farmers' perceptions of disastrous risks, their attitudes towards risk and to explore the impacts of various farm and farm household factors on farmers' risk attitudes and risk perceptions. The present study is conducted in four hybrid maize growing districts of Punjab Province, Pakistan, using cross-sectional data of 400 hybrid maize farmers. Risk matrix and equally likely certainty equivalent(ELCE) method are used to rank farmers' perceptions of four catastrophic risk sources including climate, biological, price and financial risks and to investigate farmers' risk aversion attitudes, respectively. Furthermore, probit regression is used to analyze the determinants affecting farmers' risk attitudes and risk perceptions. The results of the study showed that majority of farmers are risk averse in nature and perceive price, biological and climate to be potential sources of risks to their farm enterprise. In addition, analysis divulges that distance from farm to main market, off-farm income, location dummies for Sahiwal and Okara, age, maize farming experience, access to extension agent, significantly(either negatively or positively) influence farmers' risk attitudes and risk perceptions. The study delivers valuable insights for farmers, agricultural insurance sector, extension services researchers and agricultural policy makers about the local understanding of risks to hybrid maize crop in developing countries, like Pakistan, and have implications for research on farmers' adaptation to exposed risks. | Shoaib Akhtar LI Gu-cheng Raza Ullah Adnan Nazir Muhammad Amjed Iqbal Muhammad Haseeb Raza Nadeem Iqbal Muhammad Faisal | 2018 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2018,17,6: | 3
Engineering electrophilic atomic Ir sites on CeO_(2) colloidal spheres for selectivity control in hydrogenation of α,β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds显示文摘Selective hydrogenation of the carbonyl bond inα,β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds is rather challenging owing to the more feasible hydrogenation of ethylenic bond from both thermodynamic and kinetic aspects. Here,we demonstrate a facile emulsionbased molecule-nanoparticle self-assembly strategy for the atomic engineering of Ir species on three-dimensional CeO_(2)spheres(Ir1@CeO_(2)).When applied to the hydrogenation ofα,β-unsaturated aldehydes,Ir1@CeO_(2)catalyst remarkably exhibited~100%selectivity towards unsaturated alcohols, whereas the formation of Ir nanoparticles on CeO_(2)drastically decreased the selectivity for unsaturated alcohols.Spectroscopic studies revealed that strong metal-support interactions triggered the charge transfer from Ir to CeO_(2),leading to the partial reduction of Ce^(4+)to Ce^(3+)along with the formation new Ir^(δ+)-O_(2)--Ce^(3+)(OV)interfaces.The electrophilic atomic Ir species at the Ir^(δ+)-O_(2)--Ce^(3+)(OV)interfaces would therefore preferentially adsorb and facilitate hydrogenation of polar C=O bond to achieve exceptional selectivity. | Muhammad Mateen Muhammad Nadeem Akhtar Ling Gao Weng-Chon(Max)CHEONG Shanshan Lv Yan Zhou Zheng Chen | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,8: | 1
Enhancing single-molecule magnet behavior of linear Co~Ⅱ-Dy~Ⅲ-Co~Ⅱ complex by introducing bulky diamagnetic moiety显示文摘Single-molecule magnets(SMMs)are regarded as promising candidates for ultrahigh-density storage, quantum information processing and molecular spintronics. It is a crucial challenge for chemists to modulate magnetic dynamics of SMMs.Here,we successfully synthesized two 3d-4f polynuclear compounds[Co_2Dy(TTTT^(Cl))_2(MeOH)]NO_3·3MeOH(1)and[Co_2Dy(TTTT^(Cl))_2(MeOH)][Co(HTTTT^(Cl))](NO_3)_2·2.5MeOH·2H_2O(2),where H_3TTTT^(Cl)=2,2′,2′′-(((nitrilotris(ethane-2,1-diyl))tris(azanediyl))tris(methylene))tris-(4-chlorophenol).On applying the approach by co-crystallization of bulky diamagnetic moiety, the effective energy barrier enhances from 401 K(1)to 536 K(2),which are both among the highest d-f heterometallic SMMs. | Guo-Zhang Huang Ze-Yu Ruan Jie-Yu Zheng Jie-Yi Wu Yan-Cong Chen Quan-Wen Li Muhammad Nadeem Akhtar Jun-Liang Liu Ming-Liang Tong | 2018 | Science China Chemistry2018,61,11: | 1

A systematic study on the role of SentiWordNet in opinion mining显示文摘Sentiment lexicons(SL)(aka lexical resources)are the repositories of one or several dictionaries that consist of known and precompiled sentiment terms. These lexicons play an important role in performing several different opinion mining tasks. The efficacy of the lexicon-based approaches in performing opinion mining(OM)tasks solely depends on selecting an appropriate opinion lexicon to analyze the text. Therefore, one has to explore the available sentiment lexicons and then select the most suitable resource.Among available resources,SentiWordNet(SWN)is the most widely used lexicon to perform tasks related to opinion mining. In SWN,each synset of WordNet is being assigned the three sentiment numerical scores;positive, negative and objective that are calculated using by a set of classifiers. In this paper,a detailed and comprehensive review of the work related to opinion mining using Senti-WordNet is provided in a very distinctive way. This survey will be useful for the researchers contributing to the field of opinion mining.Following features make our contribution worthwhile and unique among the reviews of similar kind:(i)our review classifies the existing literature with respect to opinion mining tasks and subtasks(ii)it covers a very different outlook of the opinion mining field by providing in-depth discussions of the existing works at different granularity levels(word, sentences, document, aspect, clause, and concept levels)(iii)this state-ofart review covers each article in the following dimensions:the designated task performed, granularity level of the task completed, results obtained, and feature dimensions, and(iv)lastly it concludes the summary of the related articles according to the granularity levels, publishing years, related tasks(or subtasks),and types of classifiers used.In the end, major challenges and tasks related to lexicon-based approaches towards opinion mining are also discussed. | Mujtaba HUSNAIN Malik Muhammad Saad MISSEN Nadeem AKHTAR Mickael COUSTATY Shahzad MUMTAZ V.B.Surya PRASATH | 2021 | Frontiers of Computer Science2021,15,4: | 0
Photokilling of waterborne-resistant pathogenic bacteria using cobalt-doped zinc oxide doped on reduced graphene oxide nanoparticles显示文摘This study is aimed at the chemical synthesis of light-activated cobalt-doped zinc oxide and its further doping on reduced graphene oxide(RGO)and assessment of its antibacterial activity on antibiotic-resistant waterborne pathogens including Enterococcus faecalis,Staphylococcus aureus,Klebsiella pneumonia, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized via UV–vis spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy(SEM),and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS).The minimal inhibitory concentration(MIC)of nanoparticles portrayed a significant killing of both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The synthesized nanoparticles were further found as active killers of bacteria in drinking water.Further, these nanoparticles were found photothermally active alongside ROS generators. The photokilling activity makes them ideal replacement candidates for traditional water filters. | Ameer Muhammad Khan Laiba Pervez Jonathan Celli Mutiullah Khattak Maqdad Ullah ZiaUllah Shah Muhammad Mustafa Khan Muhammad Nadeem Sulaiman Faisal Akhtar Nadhman | 2022 | Journal of Innovative Optical Health Sciences2022,15,4: | 0
Anti-obesity effect and UHPLC-QTOF-MS/MS based metabolite profiling of Solanum nigrum leaf extract显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the antioxidant potential and pancreatic lipase inhibitory action of optimized hydroethanolic extracts of Solanum nigrum. Methods:Optimized extraction for maximum recovery of metabolites was performed using a combination of freeze-drying and ultrasonication followed by determination of antioxidant and antiobesity properties. The ultra-high performance liquid chromatography equipped with mass spectrometry was used to analyze metabolite profiling of Solanum nigrum.Computational studies were performed using molecular docking and electrostatic potential analysis for individual compounds. The hypolipidemic potential of the most potent extract was assessed in the obese mice fed on fat rich diet. Results:The 80%hydroethanolic extract exhibited the highest extract yield, total phenolic contents, total flavonoid contents along with the strongest 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl scavenging activity, total antioxidant power, and pancreatic lipase inhibitory properties. The 80%hydroethanolic extract not only regulated the lipid profile of obese mice but also restricted the weight gain in the liver, kidney, and heart. The 80%hydroethanolic extract also reduced alanine transaminase and aspartate transaminase concentrations in serum. The effects of plant extract at 300 mg/kg body weight were quite comparable with the standard drug orlistat. Conclusions:Solanum nigrum is proved as an excellent and potent source of secondary metabolites that might be responsible for obesity mitigation. | Zain Ul Aabideen Muhammad Waseem Mumtaz Muhammad Tayyab Akhtar Muhammad Asam Raza Hamid Mukhtar Ahmad Irfan Syed Ali Raza Muhammad Nadeem Yee Soon Ling | 2022 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2022,12,4: | 0
Evaluation of Tomato Hybrids for Resistance against Tomato Mosaic Virus(ToMV)显示文摘Tomato mosaic virus(ToMV)drastically affects the tomato production worldwide. To deal with this problem, breeding of ToMV-resistant hybrids/varieties is the ultimate need and most successful approach. In wild tomato species, three dominant ToMV-resistant genes(Tm-1,Tm-2 and Tm-2^(2))were identified and the World Vegetable Center developed few fresh market tomato lines resistant to ToMV by the introgression of these genes.Recently at Nuclear Institute for Agriculture and Biology,Faisalabad,Pakistan a breeding programme was initiated to develop high yielding and ToMV tolerant hybrids using these lines.Current study was performed to screen elite F1 hybrids carrying Tm gene along with their parents against ToMV using mechanical inoculation, confirmation of the virus using DAS-ELISA and marker assisted selection of hybrids.Out of 28 hybrids and 17 parent accessions/genotypes,eight hybrids and five accessions were found to be highly resistant and the virus was not detected in DAS-ELISA.Five hybrids were resistant, nine hybrids and four genotypes were tolerant, while the remaining six hybrids and eight genotypes were susceptible. For the confirmation of Tm-2^(2) gene, the tomato hybrids and their parents were subjected to molecular analysis using cleaved amplified polymorphic sequence(CAPS)primers. The result of CAPS markers for the confirmation of Tm-2^(2) gene was found consistent with phenotypic data of the inoculated tomato genotypes/hybrids.Higher phenolic content, total soluble proteins, better CAT and SOD activities were positively correlated with resistance.Screening results based on phenotype, biochemical and molecular marker data indicate that hybrids carrying Tm-2^(2) gene are good sources of resistance against ToMV. | Sahar Nadeem Najeeb Ullah Khalid Pervaiz Akhtar Amjad Hameed Muhammad Yussouf Saleem | 2022 | Journal of Botanical Research2022,4,2: | 0

Mn_(0.8)Zn_(0.2)Fe_2O_4 nanoparticulates spinel ferrites:An approach to enhance the antenna field strength for improved magnitude versus offset(MVO)显示文摘Electromagnetic signals in deep reservoir are very weak so that it is difficult to predict about the presence of hydrocarbon in seabed logging(SBL) environment. In the present work,Mn0.8Zn0.2Fe2O4 nanoferrites were prepared by a sol–gel technique at different sintering temperatures of450 °C,650 °C and 850 °C to increase the strength of electromagnetic(EM) antenna.XRD,FESEM,Raman spectroscopy and HRTEM were used to analyze the phase, surface morphology and size of the nanoferrites.Magnetic properties of the nanoferrites were also measured using an impedance network analyzer. However, nanoferrites sintered at 850 °C with initial permeability of 200 and Q factor of 50 were used as magnetic feeders with the EM antenna.Lab scale experiments were performed to investigate the effect of magnetic field strength in scale tank.SPSS and MATLAB softwares were also used to confirm the oil presence in scale tank.It was observed that the magnitude of the EM waves for the antenna was increased up to 233%.Finally,the correlation values also show 208% increase in the magnetic field strength with the presence of the oil. Therefore, antenna with Mn0.8Zn0.2Fe2O4 nanoferrites based magnetic feeders can be used for deep water and deep target hydrocarbon exploration. | Majid Niaz Akhtar Nadeem Nasir Muhammad Kashif Noorhana Yahya Mukhtar Ahmad Ghulam Murtaza Muhammad Azhar Khan M.H.Asif A.Sattar R.Raza M.Saleem S.N.Khan | 2014 | Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2014,24,4: | 0
Analyzing COVID-2019 Impact on Mental Health Through Social Media Forum显示文摘This study aims to identify the potential association of mental health and social media forum during the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.COVID-19 brings a lot of challenges to government globally.Among the different strategies the most extensively adopted ones were lockdown, social distancing, and isolation among others. Most people with no mental illness history have been found with high risk of distress and psychological discomfort due to anxiety of being infected with the virus.Panic among people due to COVID-19 spread faster than the disease itself. The misinformation and excessive usage of social media in this pandemic era have adversely affected mental health across the world.Due to limited historical data, psychiatrists are finding it difficult to cure the mental illness of people resulting from the pandemic repercussion, fueled by social media forum. In this study the methodology used for data extraction is by considering the implications of social network platforms(such as Reddit)and levering the capabilities of a semi-supervised co-training technique-based use of Naïve Bayes(NB),Random Forest(RF),and Support Vector Machine(SVM)classifiers. The experimental results shows the efficacy of the proposed methodology to identify the mental illness level(such as anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression,PTSD,schizophrenia, and OCD)of those who are in anxious of being infected with this virus. We observed 1 to 5%improvement in the classification decision through the proposed method as compared to state-of-the-art classifiers. | Huma Muhammad Khalid Sohail Nadeem Akhtar Dost Muhammad Humaira Afzal Muhammad Rafiq Mufti Shahid Hussain Mansoor Ahmed | 2021 | Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,6: | 0
