Primary esophageal tuberculosis mimicking esophageal carcinoma on computed tomography: A case report显示文摘BACKGROUND Tuberculosis(TB)has a rare extrapulmonary manifestation known as esophageal tuberculosis, accounting for 0.2%of total TB patients.Esophageal TB typically presents with dysphagia, with retrosternal pain or odynophagia, but generalized symptoms such as low-grade fever, decreased appetite, and weight loss are also observed.Esophageal carcinoma and Crohn’s disease of the esophagus are important differential diagnoses with similar presentation.CASE SUMMARY We present a case of a 25-year-old male, who presented with esophageal TB mimicking an esophageal carcinoma.Lab work-up,Mantoux test, and chest X-ray were normal.Barium-swallow examination showed moderate dilatation of distal esophagus with a nodular and irregular mucosa.Computed tomography showed significant thickening of thoracic and distal esophagus with infiltration into the lesser omentum and large, centrally necrotic lymph nodes on gastro-hepatic ligament suggestive of a possible malignancy.Esophagoscopy was performed and a biopsy of mural thickening was performed and sent for histopathological examination. The histopathology report and TB-polymerase chain reaction confirmed the diagnosis of esophageal TB.The patient was started on antituberculous therapy(ATT),and complete resolution of symptoms and disease was achieved in 6 mo.CONCLUSION Esophageal TB is an extremely rare, yet important differential diagnosis in a patient presenting with dysphagia.Esophageal TB can mimic esophageal carcinoma on computed tomography scan. The patient responded well to a complete course of ATT. | Muhammad Salman Khan Muhammad Hassaan Arif Maan Amir Humza Sohail Wasim Ahmed Memon | 2019 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery2019,11,9: | 2
A split target detection and tracking algorithm for ballistic missile tracking during the re-entry phase显示文摘In the re-entry phase of a ballistic missile, decoys can be deployed as a mean to overburden enemy defenses. This results in a single track being split into multiple track-lets.Tracking of these track-lets is a critical task as any miss in the tracking procedure can become a cause of a major threat. The tracking process becomes more complicated in the presence of clutter. The low detection rate is one of the factors that may contribute to increasing the difficulty level in terms of tracking in the cluttered environment. This work introduces a new algorithm for the split event detection and target tracking under the framework of the joint integrated probabilistic data association(JIPDA)algorithm. The proposed algorithm is termed as split event-JIPDA(SE-JIPDA).This work establishes the mathematical foundation for the split target detection and tracking mechanism. The performance analysis is made under different simulation conditions to provide a clear insight into the merits of the proposed algorithm. The performance parameters in these simulations are the root mean square error(RMSE),confirmed true track rate(CTTR)and confirmed split true track rate(CSTTR). | Muhammad Asad Sumair Khan Ihsanullah Zahid Mehmood Yifang Shi Sufyan Ali Memon Uzair Khan | 2020 | Defence Technology(防务技术)2020,16,6: | 2
Multi-material Bio-inspired Soft Octopus Robot for Underwater Synchronous Swimming显示文摘Inspired by the simple yet amazing morphology of the Octopus, we propose the design, fabrication, and characterization of multi-material bio-inspired soft Octopus robot (Octobot). 3D printed molds for tentacles and head were used. The tentacles of the Octobot were casted using Ecoflex-0030 while head was fabricated using relatively flexible material, i.e., OOMOO-25. The head is attached to the functionally responsive tentacles (each tentacle is of 79.12 mm length and 7 void space diameter), whereas Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) muscle wires of 0.5 mm thickness are used in Octobot tentacles for dual thrust generation and actuation of Octobot. The tentacles were separated in two groups and were synchronously actuated. Each tentacle of the developed Octobot contains a pair of SMA muscles (SMA-α and SMA-β). SMA-α muscles being the main actuator, was powered by 9 V, 350 mA power supply, whereas SMA-β was used to provide back thrust and thus helps to increase the actuation frequency. Simulation work of the proposed model was performed in the SolidWorks environment to verify the vertical velocity using the octopus tentacle actuation. The design morphology of Octobot was optimized using simulation and TRACKER software by analyzing the experimental data of angle, displacement, and velocity of real octopus. The as-developed Octobot can swim at variable frequencies (0.5–2 Hz) with the average speed of 25 mm/s (0.5 BLS). Therefore, the proposed soft Octopus robot showed an excellent capability of mimicking the gait pattern of its natural counterpart. | Faheem Ahmed Muhammad Waqas Bushra Shaikh Umair Khan Afaque Manzoor Soomro Suresh Kumar Hina Ashraf Fida Hussain Memon Kyung Hyun Choi | 2022 | Journal of Bionic Engineering2022,19,5: | 1
Privacy Protection with Dynamic Pseudonym-Based Multiple Mix-Zones Over Road Networks显示文摘In this research we proposed a strategy for location privacy protection which addresses the issues related with existing location privacy protection techniques. Mix-Zones and pseudonyms are considered as the basic building blocks for location privacy; however, continuously changing pseudonyms process at multiple locations can enhance user privacy. It has been revealed that changing pseudonym at improper time and location may threat to user's privacy. Moreover, certain methods related to pseudonym change have been proposed to attain desirable location privacy and most of these solutions are based upon velocity, GPS position and direction of angle. We analyzed existing methods related to location privacy with mix zones, such as RPCLP, EPCS and MODP, where it has been observed that these methods are not adequate to attain desired level of location privacy and suffered from large number of pseudonym changes. By analyzing limitations of existing methods, we proposed Dynamic Pseudonym based multiple mix zone(DPMM) technique, which ensures highest level of accuracy and privacy. We simulate our data by using SUMO application and analysis results has revealed that DPMM outperformed existing pseudonym change techniques and achieved better results in terms of acquiring high privacy with small number of pseudonym change. | Qasim Ali Arain Zhongliang Deng Imran memon Asma Zubedi Jichao Jiao Aisha Ashraf Muhammad Saad Khan | 2017 | China Communications2017,14,4: | 1

Ambient BackCom in beyond 5G NOMA networks: A multi-cell resource allocation framework显示文摘The research of Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) is extensively used to improve the capacity of networks beyond the fifth-generation. The recent merger of NOMA with ambient Backscatter Communication (BackCom), though opening new possibilities for massive connectivity, poses several challenges in dense wireless networks. One such challenge is the performance degradation of ambient BackCom in multi-cell NOMA networks under the effect of inter-cell interference. Driven by providing an efficient solution to the issue, this article proposes a new resource allocation framework that uses a duality theory approach. Specifically, the sum rate of the multi-cell network with backscatter tags and NOMA user equipment is maximized by formulating a joint optimization problem. To find the efficient base station transmit power and backscatter reflection coefficient in each cell, the original problem is first divided into two subproblems, and then the closed form solution is derived. A comparison with the Orthogonal Multiple Access (OMA) ambient BackCom and pure NOMA transmission has been provided. Simulation results of the proposed NOMA ambient BackCom indicate a significant improvement over the OMA ambient BackCom and pure NOMA in terms of sum-rate gains. | Wali Ullah Khan Fida Hussain Memon Kapal Dev Muhammad Awais Javed Dinh-Thuan Do Nawab Muhammad Faseeh Qureshi | 2022 | Digital Communications and Networks2022,8,6: | 0
