1Update on the applications and limitations of alpha-fetoprotein for hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘Alpha-fetoprotein(AFP)is an oncofetal glycoprotein that has been used as a tumor marker for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)in combination with ultrasound and other imaging modalities.Its utility is limited because of both low sensitivity and specificity,and discrepancies among the different methods of measurements.Moreover,its accuracy varies according to patient characteristics and the AFP cut-off values used.Combination of AFP with novel biomarkers such as AFP-L3,Golgi specific membrane protein(GP73)and des-gamma-carboxyprothrombin significantly improved its accuracy in detecting HCC.Increased AFP level could also signify severity of hepatic destruction and subsequent regeneration and is commonly observed in patients with acute and chronic liver conditions and cirrhosis.Hereditary and other non-hepatic disorders can also cause AFP elevation.Hira Hanif Mukarram Jamat Ali Ammu T Susheela Iman Waheed Khan Maria Alejandra Luna-Cuadros Muzammil Muhammad Khan Daryl Tan-Yeung Lau 2022World Journal of Gastroenterology2022,28,2:9

4A Comparative Study on Hemp(Cannabis sativa)Essential Oil Extraction Using Traditional and Advanced Techniques显示文摘A comparative study of Cannabis sativa(Hemp)essential constituents obtained by using Supercritical Fluid Extraction(SCFE),Steam Distillation(SD)and Hydrodistillation(HD)is presented here.The optimized extraction temperatures were 130,110and 50℃for hydrodistillation,steam distillation and supercritical fluid extraction respectively.The essential oil of C.sativa was analyzed by using Gas chromatography mass spectrometry(GC-MS).A total of 33,30and 31components have been identified in HD,SD and SCFE respectively.Yield of essential oil using SCFE(0.039%)was more than HD(0.025%)and SD(0.035%)extraction respectively.The main component of sesquiterpenes obtained by hydrodistillation at 130℃with their percentages included caryophyllene(40.58%),trans-α-bergamotene(5.41%),humulene(10.97%),cis-β-farnesene(8.53%)and monoterpenes includedα-pinene(2.13%),d-limonene(6.46%),p-cymol(0.65%)and cineole(2.58%)respectively.The main component of sesquiterpenes obtained by SD steam distillation at110℃including caryophyllene(38.60%)trans-α-bergamotene(4.22%),humulene(10.26%),cis-β-farnesene(6.67%)and monoterpenes includedα-pinene(3.21%),d-limonene(7.07%),p-cymol(2.59%)and cineole(3.88%)whereas the more percentages of major components were obtained by SCFE at 50℃included caryophyllene(44.31%),trans-α-bergamotene(6.79%),humulene(11.97%)cis-β-farnesene(9.71%)and monoterpenes includedα-pinene(0.45%),d-limonene(2.13%)p-cymol(0.19%)and cineole(1.38%)respectively.We found yield/efficiency,chemical composition,quality of the essential oils by supercritical fluid extraction superior in terms of modern,green,saving energy and a rapid approach as compared to traditional techniques.Saima naz Muhammad Asif Hanif Tariq Mahmood Ansari Jamal Nasar Al-Sabahi 2017光谱学与光谱分析2017,37,1:1
5Velocity and Structural Modeling of Mesozoic Chiltan Limestone and Goru Formation for Hydrocarbon Evaluation in the Bitrisim Area, Lower Indus Basin, Pakistan显示文摘The present study focuses on building a workflow for structural interpretation and velocity modeling and implementing to Jurassic-Cretaceous succession(Chiltan Limestone and Massive sand of the Lower Goru Formation).2D-Migrated seismic sections of the area are used as data set and in order to confirm the presence of hydrocarbons in the study area,P and S-wave seismic velocities are estimated from single-component seismic data.Some specific issues in the use of seismic data for modeling and hydrocarbon evaluation need to deal with including distinguishing the reservoir and cap rocks,and the effects of faults,folds and presence of hydrocarbons on these rocks.This study has carried out the structural interpretation and modeling of the seismic data for the identification of traps.The results demonstrate existence of appropriate structural traps in the form of horst and grabens in the area.2D and 3D velocity modeling of the horizons indicates the presence of high velocity zones in the eastern half of the study while relatively low velocity zones are encountered in the western half of the area.Two wells were drilled in the study area(i.e.Fateh-01 and Ichhri-01)and both are dry.Immature hydrocarbons migration is considered as a failure reason for Fateh-01 and Ichhri-01 well.Sarfraz KHAN Zahid LATIF Muhammad HANIF Irfan U. 6Evaluation of microstructure and mechanical properties of squeeze overcast Al7075-Cu composite joints显示文摘Al7075-Cu composite joints were prepared by the squeeze overcast process.The effects of melt temperature,die temperature,and squeeze pressure on hardness and ultimate tensile strength(UTS)of squeeze overcast Al7075-Cu composite joints were studied.The experimental results depict that squeeze pressure is the most significant process parameter affecting the hardness and UTS.The optimal values of UTS(48 MPa)and hardness(76 HRB)are achieved at a melt temperature of 800℃,a die temperature of 250℃,and a squeeze pressure of 90 MPa.Scanning electron microscopy(SEM)shows that fractured surfaces show flatfaced morphology at the optimal experimental condition.Energy-dispersive spectroscopy(EDS)analysis depicts that the atomic weight percentage of Zn decreases with an increase in melt temperature and squeeze pressure.The optimal mechanical properties of the Al7075-Cu overcast joint were achieved at the Al2Cu eutectic phase due to the large number of copper atoms that dispersed into the aluminum melt during the solidification process and the formation of strong intermetallic bonds.Gray relational analysis integrated with the Taguchi method was used to develop an optimal set of control variables for multi-response parametric optimization.Confirmatory tests were performed to validate the effectiveness of the employed technique.The manufacturing of squeeze overcast Al7075-Cu composite joints at optimal process parameters delivers a great indication to acknowledge a new method for foundry practitioners to manufacture materials with superior mechanical properties.Muhammad Waqas Hanif Ahmad Wasim Muhammad Sajid Salman Hussain Muhammad Jawad Mirza Jahanzaib 2023China Foundry2023,20,1:1

13Phenotypic variations of wheat cultivars from the North China Plain in response to cadmium stress and associated single nucleotide polymorphisms identified by a genome-wide association study显示文摘Understanding the genetic mechanisms for cadmium (Cd) uptake and translocation in common wheat (Triticum aestivum) is of significance in food Cd contamination control. In this study, a diverse panel of 132 wheat cultivars was collected from the North China Plain. The cultivars were evaluated in terms of their phenotypic variations in response to Cd stress and subjected to a genome-wide association study (GWAS) to identify single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with the phenotypic variations at the seedling stage. Significant phenotypic variations with high heritability were observed among the wheat cultivars exposed to 40 μmol L-1 Cd for the studied traits, including root length (RL), shoot length (SL), root and shoot dry biomasses (RDW and SDW, respectively), root and shoot Cd concentrations (RCD and SCD, respectively), and Cd translocation factor (TF). Mean RCD, SCD, and TF ranged from 1.0 to 33.8, 0.125 to 2.022, and 0.009 to 0.321 mg g-1, respectively. Cluster analysis showed that wheat cultivars with higher RL, SL, RDW, and SDW under Cd stress were able to accumulate more Cd in root, leading to a lower Cd TF. Mixed linear model-based association analysis detected 17 novel significant marker-trait associations (MTAs), four of which were significant at a genome-wide scale. Most of the significant MTAs controlled Cd TF and explained 17.17%–26.47% of the phenotypic variations. Some of the SNP loci were physically close to a reported Cd-related quantitative trait locus or gene on wheat chromosomes. Results of this study provided a list of wheat cultivars with the potential of low Cd accumulation and enriched our knowledge on the genetic basis of Cd uptake and translocation in wheat. 14Presentation delay in breast cancer patients and its association with sociodemographic factors in North Pakistan显示文摘Background: There is strong evidence that delayed diagnosis of breast cancer is associated with poor survival. The objectives were to determine the frequency of breast cancer patients with delayed presentation, the reasons of delay and its association with different socio-demographic variables in our settings.Methods: We interviewed 315 histologically confirmed breast cancer patients. Delay was defined as more than 3 months from appearance of symptoms to the consultation from doctor. Questions were asked from each patient which could reflect their understanding about the disease and which could be the likely reasons for their delayed presentation.Results: A total of 39.01%(n=123) of patients presented late and out of those, 40.7% wasted time using alternative medicines; 25.2% were not having enough resources; 17.1% presented late due to painless lump; 10.6% felt shyness and 6.5% presented late due to other reasons. Higher age, negative family history, <8 school years of education and low to middle socio-economic status were significantly associated with delayed presentation(P<0.05). Education and socioeconomic status were two independent variables related to the delayed presentation after adjustment for others [odds ratios(OR) of 2.26, 2.29 and 95% confidence intervals(CI) was 1.25-4.10, 1.06-4.94 respectively].Conclusions: Significant percentage of women with breast cancer in North Pakistan is experiencing presentation delay due to their misconceptions about the disease. Coordinated efforts with public health department are needed to educate the focused groups and mitigating the barriers identified in the study. 18Intraspecific morphometric diversity of barramundi (Lates calcariferBloch, 1790) in the waters of southern Bangladesh显示文摘A total of 160 barramundi's (Lates calcarifer Bloch, 1790) sampled from four rivers (Tentulia, Balaswar, Bakkhali, and Andarmanik) along the southern coastal region of Bangladesh were investigated in terms of morphometric characters to reveal the intraspecific variation. Twenty-five morphometric measurements were extracted using the conventional method and subjected to multivariate analyses (i.e., principal component analysis (PCA), discriminate function analysis (DFA), cluster analysis (CA)) to distinguish individuals from different rivers. The result demonstrated that twenty-two out of 25 measurements was statistically significant (Univariate ANOVA) among all four populations. PCA analysis of morphometric characters resulted in two principal components, PC I and PCⅡ which accounted for 79.25% and 4.28% of the total data variance. PC I-PC Ⅱ plot explained 83.53% of total variance differentiated the population of L. calcarifer into two groups. Discriminate analysis correctly classified about 88.1% of the examined fish into the four areas. The UPGMA dendrogram showed that Bakkhali populations were the most morphologically different populations in comparison to other populations, while Andarmanik and Balaswar populations were very close to each other. The strong morphometric variation between Bakkhali and Tentulia, Andarmanik and Balaswar was observed in the present study, suggested the evidence of the separate stock population of barramundi in these locations, which might require distinct stock management strategies for resource sustainability in the waters of southern Bangladesh. 19SDN Based DDos Mitigating Approach Using Traffic Entropy for IoT Network显示文摘The Internet of Things(IoT)has been widely adopted in various domains including smart cities,healthcare,smart factories,etc.In the last few years,the fitness industry has been reshaped by the introduction of smart fitness solutions for individuals as well as fitness gyms.The IoT fitness devices collect trainee data that is being used for various decision-making.However,it will face numerous security and privacy issues towards its realization.This work focuses on IoT security,especially DoS/DDoS attacks.In this paper,we have proposed a novel blockchain-enabled protocol(BEP)that uses the notion of a self-exposing node(SEN)approach for securing fitness IoT applications.The blockchain and SDN architectures are employed to enhance IoT security by a highly preventive security monitoring,analysis and response system.The proposed approach helps in detecting the DoS/DDoS attacks on the IoT fitness system and then mitigating the attacks.The BEP is used for handling Blockchain-related activities and SEN could be a sensor or actuator node within the fitness IoT system.SEN provides information about the inbound and outbound traffic to the BEP which is used to analyze the DoS/DDoS attacks on the fitness IoT system.The SENcalculates the inbound and outbound traffic features’entropies and transmits them to the Blockchain in the form of transaction blocks.The BEP picks the whole mined blocks’transactions and transfers them to the SDN controller node.The controller node correlates the entropies data of SENs and decides about the DoS or DDoS attack.So,there are two decision points,one is SEN,and another is the controller.To evaluate the performance of our proposed system,several experiments are performed and results concerning the entropy values and attack detection rate are obtained.The proposed approach has outperformed the other two approaches concerning the attack detection rate by an increase of 11%and 18%against Approach 1 and Approach 2 respectively.Muhammad Ibrahim Muhammad Hanif Shabir Ahmad Faisal Jamil Tayyaba Sehar YunJung Lee DoHyeun Kim 2022Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,3:0
20Citrus Diseases Recognition Using Deep Improved Genetic Algorithm显示文摘Agriculture is the backbone of each country,and almost 50%of the population is directly involved in farming.In Pakistan,several kinds of fruits are produced and exported the other countries.Citrus is an important fruit,and its production in Pakistan is higher than the other fruits.However,the diseases of citrus fruits such as canker,citrus scab,blight,and a few more impact the quality and quantity of this Fruit.The manual diagnosis of these diseases required an expert person who is always a time-consuming and costly procedure.In the agriculture sector,deep learning showing significant success in the last five years.This research work proposes an automated framework using deep learning and best feature selection for citrus diseases classification.In the proposed framework,the augmentation technique is applied initially by creating more training data from existing samples.They were then modifying the two pre-trained models named Resnet18 and Inception V3.The modified models are trained using an augmented dataset through transfer learning.Features are extracted for each model,which is further selected using Improved Genetic Algorithm(ImGA).The selected features of both models are fused using an array-based approach that is finally classified using supervised learning classifiers such as Support Vector Machine(SVM)and name a few more.The experimental process is conducted on three different datasets-Citrus Hybrid,Citrus Leaf,and Citrus Fruits.On these datasets,the best-achieved accuracy is 99.5%,94%,and 97.7%,respectively.The proposed framework is evaluated on each step and compared with some recent techniques,showing that the proposed method shows improved performance.Usra Yasmeen Muhammad Attique Khan Usman Tariq Junaid Ali Khan Muhammad Asfand EYar ChAvais Hanif Senghour Mey Yunyoung Nam 2022Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,5:0
