| 1 | Surveillance of multidrug resistant uropathogenic bacteria in hospitalized patients in Indian显示文摘Objective:To record surveillance,antibiotic resistance of uropathogens of hospitalized patients over a period of 18 months.Methods:Urine samples from wards and cabins were used for isolating urinary tract infection(UTI)-causing bacteria that were cultured on suitable selective media and identified by biochemical tests;and their antibiograms were ascertained by Kirby-Bauer's disc diffusion method,in each 6-month interval of the study period,using 18 antibiotics of five different classes.Results:From wards and cabins,1 245 samples were collected,from which 996 strains of bacteria belonging to 11 species were isolated,during April 2011 to September2012.Two Gram-positive,Staphylococcus aureus(S.aureus)and Enterococcus faecalis(E.faecalis),and nine Gram-negative bacteria,Acinetobacter baumannii,Citrobactcr sp.,Escherichia coli,Enterobacter aerogenes,Klebsiella pneumoniae.Klebsiella oxytoca,Proteus mirabilis,Proteus vulgaris and Pseudomonas aeruginosa were isolated.Both S.aureus and E.faecalis were vancomycin resistant,and resistant-strains of all pathogens increased in each 6-month period of study.Particularly,all Gram-negatives were resistant to nitrofurantoin and co-trimoxazole,the most preferred antibiotics of empiric therapy for UTI.Conclusions:Antibiograms of 11 UTI-causing bacteria recorded in this study indicated moderately higher numbers of strains resistant to each antibiotic studied,generating the fear of precipitating fervent episodes in public health particularly with bacteria,Acinetobacter baumannii,Escherichia coli,Klebsiella pneumoniae and S.aureus.Moreover,vancomycin resistance in strains of S.aureus and E.faecalis is a matter of concern. | Monali Priyadarsini Mishra Nagen Kumar Debata Rabindra Nath Padhy | 2013 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2013,3,4: | 6 |

| 5 | Clinical outcomes for nasopharyngeal cancer with intracranial extension after taxanebased induction chemotherapy and concurrent chemo-radiotherapy in the modern era显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the survival outcomes for a cohort of nasopharyngeal cancer with intracranial extension(ICE)treated with induction chemotherapy(ICT)followed by chemo-intensity-modulated radiotherapy(CTRT)at a tertiary cancer center.Methods:We retrospectively analyzed 45 patients with histologically proven,non-metastatic NPC with ICE treated at our institute between October 2008 and October 2016.Patients were classified as minor ICE or major ICE,based on the extent of ICE.All the patients received 2-3 cycles of a taxane-based ICT regimen followed by CTRT.Radiotherapy was delivered with'riskadapted'intensity-modulated radiotherapy(IMRT)technique in all patients.Results:After a median follow up of 45 months(range:8-113 months),the estimated 5-year DFS,LRFS,DMFS,and OS of the entire cohort was 58%,82%,67%and 74%respectively.On multivariate analysis,histological subtype was an independent predictor of LRFS,and age was an independent predictor of DFS.The extent of ICE showed only a trend towards worse DFS(P=0.06).None of the factors significantly predicted for DMFS or OS.Gender,N-stage,and response to ICT did not significantly affect any of the outcomes.Grade 2 or worse subcutaneous fibrosis was seen in 22%of patients and grade 2 or worse xerostomia was seen in 24%of patients at last follow up.Thirty-three percent of the patients developed clinical hypothyroidism at last follow up.None of the patients experienced any neurological or vascular complications.Conclusions:Taxane-based induction chemotherapy followed by chemo-intensity modulated radiotherapy resulted in excellent locoregional control and survival with acceptable toxicities in patients of nasopharyngeal cancer with intracranial extension.Distant metastasis continues to be the predominant problem in these patients. | Sarbani Ghosh-Laskar Avinash Pilar Carlton Johnny Kumar Prabhash Amit Joshi Jai Prakash Agarwal Tejpal Gupta Ashwini Budrukkar Vedang Murthy Monali Swain Vanita Noronha Vijay Maruthi Patil Prathamesh Pai Deepa Nair Devendra Arvind Chaukar Shivakumar Thiagarajan Gouri Pantvaidya Anuja Deshmukh Pankaj Chaturvedi Sudhir Nair Anil D’Cruz | 2020 | World Journal of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery2020,6,1: | 1 |
| 6 | Targeted immunotherapy for non-small cell lung cancer显示文摘Targeted therapies that deliver the expected anti-tumor effects while mitigating the adverse effects are taking the cancer world by storm. The need for such therapies in non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC), where systemic cytotoxic chemotherapies still remain the backbone of management, is felt more than ever before. Runway success of immunotherapies such as Ipilimumab for melanoma has brought excitement among oncologists. Immune-based treatments are in various stages of evaluation for NSCLC as well. Immunotherapies using strategies of antigen based or cell based vaccines, and blocking immune checkpoints are of substantial interest. | 16 | Magnetic resonance imaging of the transplanted pediatric heart as a potential predictor of rejection显示文摘AIM To evaluate cardiac magnetic resonance imaging(CMR) as a non-invasive tool to detect acute cellular rejection(ACR) in children after heart transplant(HT).METHODS Thirty pediatric HT recipients underwent CMR at the time of surveillance endomyocardial biopsy(EMB) and results were compared to 14 non-transplant controls. Biventricular volumes, ejection fractions(EFs), T2-weighted signal intensities, native T1 times, extracellular volumes(ECVs) and presence of late gadolinium enhancement(LGE) were compared between patients and controls and betweenpatients with International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation(ISHLT) grade ≥ 2R rejection and those with grade 0/1R. Heart rate(HR) and brain natriuretic peptide(BNP) were assessed as potential biomarkers.RESULTS Significant ACR(ISHLT grade ≥ 2R) was an infrequent event in our population(5/30, 17%). | 17 | Adaptive virtual MIMO-based cross-layer design for wireless sensor networks via hybrid optimization model显示文摘In recent times,many MAC protocols were implemented for boosting and improving energy efficiency(EE)in WSNs.Moreover,the cooperative MIMO method is found to be much capable of enhancing the EE of WSNs if configured properly.This paper intends to propose cross-layer design for multihop virtual MIMO system to enhance the end-to-end(ETE)reliability,EE,and QoS of the adopted WSN.The protocol is set here to focus on the energy utilization for transmission of data packets by optimal selection of transmission constraints for each node of the network.Moreover,the protocol’s ETE latency and throughput are also modeled as the dependent variables of BER performance of every link.To discover the improved BER criteria of each link that meets the ETE QoS requirement in reduced energy utilization,this paper employs a new hybrid optimization algorithm named Lion Mutated Dragonfly Algorithm(LM–DA)that is a hybrid variant of both Lion Algorithm(LA)and Dragonfly Algorithm(DA).Finally,the performance of the adopted scheme is validated over other state-of-the-art models.The results state that the energy consumed by the adopted LM–DA approach is about 2.65%,1.77%,and 1.77%reduced over LA,PSO,and DA schemes,respectively. | Monali Prajapati Jay Joshi | 2021 | International Journal of Modeling, Simulation, and Scientific Computing2021,12,2: | 0 |
