2Changes in temperature extremes in the Yangtze River Basin, 1962-2011显示文摘Based on daily maximum and minimum temperature observed by the China Meteorological Administration at 115 meteorological stations in the Yangtze River Basin from 1962 to 2011,the methods of linear regression,principal component analysis and correlation analysis are employed to investigate the temporal variability and spatial distribution of temperature extremes.Sixteen indices of extreme temperature are selected.The results are as follows:(1) The occurrence of cold days,cold nights,ice days,frost days and cold spell duration indicator has significantly decreased by –0.84,–2.78,–0.48,–3.29 and –0.67 days per decade,respectively.While the occurrence of warm days,warm nights,summer days,tropical nights,warm spell duration indicator and growing season length shows statistically significant increasing trends at rates of 2.24,2.86,2.93,1.80,0.83 and 2.30 days per decade,respectively.The tendency rate of the coldest day,coldest night,warmest day,warmest night and diurnal temperature range is 0.33,0.47,0.16,0.19 and –0.07℃ per decade,respectively.(2) The magnitudes of changes in cold indices(cold nights,coldest day and coldest night) are obviously greater than those of warm indices(warm nights,warmest day and warmest night).The change ranges of night indices(warm nights and cold nights) are larger than those of day indices(warm days and cold days),which indicates that the change of day and night temperature is asymmetrical.(3) Spatially,the regionally averaged values of cold indices in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River Basin are larger than those in the middle and lower reaches.However,the regionally averaged values of most warm indices(except warm spell duration indicator) and growing season length in the middle and lower reaches are larger than those in the upper reaches.(4) The extreme temperature indices are well correlated with each other except diurnal temperature range.WANG Qiong ZHANG Mingjun WANG Shengjie MA Qian SUN Meiping 2014Journal of Geographical Sciences2014,24,1:14
3Sugar metabolism and accumulation in the fruit of transgenic apple trees with decreased sorbitol synthesis显示文摘Both sorbitol and sucrose are synthesized in source leaves and transported to fruit for supporting fruit growth in tree fruit species of the Rosaceae family.In apple(Malus domestica),antisense suppression of aldose-6-phosphate reductase,the key enzyme for sorbitol synthesis,significantly decreased the sorbitol concentration but increased the sucrose concentration in leaves,leading to a lower sorbitol but a higher sucrose supply to fruit in these plants.In response to this altered carbon supply,the transgenic fruit had lower concentration of sorbitol and much higher concentration of glucose but similar levels of fructose,sucrose,and starch throughout fruit development relative to the untransformed control.Activities of sorbitol dehydrogenase,fructokinase,and sucrose phosphate synthase were lower,whereas activities of neutral invertase,sucrose synthase,and hexokinase were higher in the transgenic fruit during fruit development.Transcript levels of MdSOT1,MdSDHs,MdFK2,and MdSPS3/6 were downregulated,whereas transcript levels of MdSUC1/4,MdSUSY1-3,MdNIV1/3,MdHKs,and MdTMT1 were upregulated in the transgenic fruit.These findings suggest that the Sucrose cycle and the sugar transport system are very effective in maintaining the level of fructose and provide insights into the roles of sorbitol and sucrose in regulating sugar metabolism and accumulation in sorbitol-synthesizing species.Mingjun Li Pengmin Li Fengwang Ma Abhaya M.Dandekar Lailiang Cheng 2018Horticulture Research2018,5,1:12
4Increased activity of MdFRK2, a high-affinity fructokinase, leads to upregulation of sorbitol metabolism and downregulation of sucrose metabolism in apple leaves显示文摘To investigate the functions of fructokinase(FRK)in apple(Malus domestica)carbohydrate metabolism,we cloned the coding sequences of MdFRK1 and MdFRK2 from the‘Royal Gala’apple.The results showed that MdFRK2 expression was extremely high in shoot tips and young fruit.Analyses of heterologously expressed proteins revealed that MdFRK2 had a higher affinity for fructose than did MdFRK1,with Km values of 0.1 and 0.62 mM for MdFRK2 and MdFRK1,respectively.The two proteins,however,exhibited similar Vmax values when their activities were significantly inhibited by high concentrations of fructose.MdFRK2 ectopic expression was associated with a general decrease in fructose concentration in transgenic lines.In leaves,increased FRK activity similarly resulted in reduced concentrations of glucose and sucrose but no alterations in sorbitol concentration.When compared with those in the untransformed control,genes involved in sorbitol synthesis(A6PR)and the degradation pathway(SDH1/2)were significantly upregulated in transgenic lines,whereas those involved in sucrose synthesis(SPS1)and other degradation processes(SUSY4,NINV1/2,and HxK2)were downregulated.The activity of enzymes participating in carbohydrate metabolism was proportional to the level of gene expression.However,the growth performance and photosynthetic efficiency did not differ between the transgenic and wild-type plants.These results provide new genetic evidence to support the view that FRK plays roles in regulating sugar and sorbitol metabolism in Rosaceae plants.Jingjing Yang Lingcheng Zhu Weifang Cui Chen Zhang Dongxia Li Baiquan Ma Lailiang Cheng Yong-Ling Ruan Fengwang Ma Mingjun Li 2018Horticulture Research2018,5,1:9
5Changes in air temperature over China in response to the recent global warming hiatus显示文摘The 1998-2012 global wanning hiatus has aroused great public interest over the past several years.Based on the air temperature measurements from 622 meteorological stations in China,the temperature response to the global warming hiatus was analyzed at national and regional scales.We found that air temperature changed-0.221°C/10a during 1998-2012,which was lower than the long-term trend for 1960-1998 by 0.427°C/10a.Therefore,the warming hiatus in China was more pronounced than the global mean.Winter played a domi nant role in the nati on wide warming hiatus,con tributi ng 74.13%,while summer contributed the least among the four seasons.Furthermore,the warming hiatus was spatial heterogeneous across different climate conditions in China.Comparing the three geographic zones,the monsoon region of eastern China,arid region of northwestern China,and high frigid region of the Tibetan Plateau,there was significant cooling in eastern and northwestern China.In eastern China,which contributed 53.79%,the trend magnitudes were 0.896°C/10a in winter and 0.134°C/10a in summer.In the Tibeta n Plateau,air temperature in creased by 0.204°C/10a,indicating a lack of a significant warming hiatus.More broadly,the warming hiatus in China may have been associated with the negative phase of PDO and reduction in sunspot numbers and total solar radiation.Finally,although a warming hiatus occurred in China from 1998 to 2012,air temperature rapidly increased after 2012 and will likely to continuously warm in the next few years.DU Qinqin ZHANG Mingjun WANG Shengjie CHE Cunwei MA Rong MA Zhuanzhuan 2019Journal of Geographical Sciences2019,29,4:9
62D Layered Double Hydroxide Nanosheets and Their Derivatives Toward E cient Oxygen Evolution Reaction显示文摘Layered double hydroxides(LDHs)have attracted tremendous research interest in widely spreading applications.Most notably,transition-metal-bearing LDHs are expected to serve as highly active electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution reaction(OER)due to their layered structure combined with versatile com-positions.Furthermore,reducing the thickness of platelet LDH crystals to nanometer or even molecular scale via cleavage or delamination provides an important clue to enhance the activity.In this review,recent progresses on rational design of LDH nanosheets are reviewed,including direct synthesis via traditional coprecipitation,homogeneous precipitation,and newly developed topochemical oxidation as well as chemical exfoliation of parent LDH crystals.In addition,diverse strategies are introduced to modulate their electrochemical activity by tuning the composition of host metal cations and intercalated counter-anions,and incorporating dopants,cavi-ties,and single atoms.In particular,hybridizing LDHs with conductive components or in situ growing them on conductive substrates to produce freestanding electrodes can further enhance their intrinsic catalytic activity.A brief discussion on future research directions and prospects is also summarized.Xueyi Lu Hairong Xue Hao Gong Mingjun Bai Daiming Tang Renzhi Ma Takayoshi Sasaki 2020Nano-Micro Letters2020,12,7:8
7Effects of location within the tree canopy on carbohydrates,organic acids,amino acids and phenolic compounds in the fruit peel and flesh from three apple(Malus×domestica)cultivars显示文摘Fruits from three cultivars of apple(Malus × domestica Borkh.)—‘McIntosh’,‘Gala’and‘Mutsu’—were harvested from the exterior and interior of the tree canopy.Peel and flesh tissues were sampled separately to determine how the position of the fruit on the tree might affect the levels of the primary and secondary metabolites in the fruit.Fruit from the outer-canopy had a higher fresh weight and a higher soluble solids content compared with inner-canopy fruit.Both the flesh and peel of the outer-canopy fruit had higher concentrations of soluble sugars and sugar alcohols,but lower starch concentrations than the inner-canopy fruit.Canopy position did not significantly affect malic acid concentrations,except in the peel of‘McIntosh’and the flesh of‘Mutsu’.Although levels of ascorbic and succinic acids were higher in the peel of the outer-canopy fruit,the responses of other organic acids to canopy position depended on tissue type and cultivar.Except for histidine,lysine,threonine and glycine,most amino acids accumulated at higher concentrations in the inner-canopy fruit.By contrast,levels of phenolic compounds from both the peel and flesh were significantly higher in the outer-canopy fruit.The significant effects of location within the canopy on both primary metabolites and secondary metabolites demonstrate the importance of light exposure on apple fruit quality.Fengjuan Feng Mingjun Li Fengwang Ma Lailiang Cheng 2014Horticulture Research2014,1,1:7
8Potassium Uptake and Transport in Apple Roots Under Drought Stress显示文摘As one of the most important mineral nutrient elements, potassium(K^+) plays an important role in many plant physiological processes and determines both the yield and quality of crops. There are two typical gene families that regulate K^+transport in higher plants, including K^+channels and K^+transporters. However, little is known about how these channels and transporters divide their work in response to drought stress. In this study, the hydroponic experiment was conducted on Malus hupehensis. The K^+content was found to decrease in response to drought stress in M. hupehensis, the aboveground decreased by 34.15% and the underground decreased by 3.97%. Meanwhile, the root morphology change was detected by scanning the root system. Under conditions of drought, the genes encoding K^+transporters were upregulated including MdCHX1.3, MdCHX4.11, MdCHX4.8, MdCHX4.9, Md HKT1, and MdHAK3.2. The net influx of K^+was inhibited by 19.47% with the action of K^+channel inhibitors(CsCl), however a significant decrease(80.99%; P < 0.05) was found in roots exposed to a PM H+-ATPase(orthovanadate) inhibitor by utilizing a non-invasive micro-test technique. The trend of H+efflux was similar to that of K^+. The data suggested that the positive influx of K^+through the transporter accounted for the main K^+uptake under drought stress. These results suggest that we can improve the uptake of K^+by purposely up-regulating specific K^+transporters under drought stress. 9Dissociation characteristics of methane hydrate using depressurization combined with thermal stimulation显示文摘Methane hydrate is considered as a potential energy source in the future due to its abundant reserves and high energy density.To investigate the influence of initial hydrate saturation,production pressure,and the temperature of thermal stimulation on gas production rate and cumulative gas production percentage,we conducted the methane hydrate dissociation experiments using depressurization,thermal stimulation and a combination of two methods in this study.It is found that when the gas production pressures are the same,the higher the hydrate initial saturation,the greater change in hydrate reservoir temperature.Therefore,it is easier to appear the phenomenon of icing and hydrate reformation when the hydrate saturation is higher.For example,the reservoir temperature dropped to below zero in depressurization process when the hydrate saturation was about 37%.However,the same phenomenon didn’t appear as the saturation was about 12%.This may be due to more free gas in the reservoir with hydrate saturated of 37%.We also find that the temperature variation of reservoir can be reduced effectively by combination of depressurization and thermal stimulation method.And the average gas production rate is highest with combined method in the experiments.When the pressure of gas production is 2 MPa,compared with depressurization,the average of gas production can increase 54%when the combined method is used.The efficiency of gas production is very low when thermal stimulation was used alone.When the temperature of thermal stimulation is 11℃,the average rate of gas production in the experiment of thermal stimulation is less than 1/3 of that in the experiment of the combined method.Mingjun Yang Zhanquan Ma Yi Gao Lanlan Jiang 2019Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2019,27,9:5

15Effect of Atorvastatin on Serum MMP-2,MMP-9 and TIMP-1 in Rabbits with Chronic Heart Failure显示文摘Objective: To observe the effects of atorvastatin on serum matrix metalloproteinase-2(MMP-2), matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9), and the tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1(TIMP-1) in the development of chronic heart failure. To investigate the role of atorvastatin in the therapy of chronic heart failure and determine its possible mechanism of action. Methods: Thirty Japanese Big Ear rabbits were randomly selected and divided into 3 groups: sham-operated group(SO group), heart failure control group(HC group) and heart failure atorvastatin therapy group(HA group), with 6, 12 and 12 animals in the respective groups. Volume overloading was produced in the HC group and HA group animals by creating an aortic insufficiency, induced by damaging the aortic valve with a catheter introduced through the carotid artery. After 14 days, abdominal aorta constriction was performed in order to obtain a pressure overload. Six weeks later rabbits in the HA group were administered atorvastatin 3mg. Kg-1.d-1 for 4 weeks, at which time the experiment was terminated. Arterial blood was drawn and serum levels of MMP-2, MMP-9 and TIMP-1 were measured in all groups at the same time using an ELISA method. Results: Structural and functional indicators of chronic heart failure(CHF) were seen in both the HC and HA groups, but atorvastatin significantly reduced the observed effects. The serum concentrations of MMP-2, MMP-9 and TIMP-1 were at low levels in all three groups at the start of the study, with no difference between them(P < 0.05). At the end of 6th week concentrations were significantly increased in the HC and HA groups compared with the SO group(P < 0.05), but there were no differences between the HC group and HA group(P > 0.05). The increased concentrations in HC group continued to the end of the experiment, but values in the HA group were all lower than those in the HC group by the end of the experiment(P < 0.05). Conclusion: Serum concentrations of MMP-2, MMP-9 and TIMP-1 increase significantly during the course of CHF, paralleling the pathological progress of CHF.
