1Changes in the Proportion of Precipitation Occurring as Rain in Northern Canada during Spring–Summer from 1979–2015显示文摘Changes in the form of precipitation have a considerable impact on the Arctic cryosphere and ecological system by influencing the energy balance and surface runoff. In this study, station observations and ERA-Interim data were used to analyze changes in the rainfall to precipitation ratio(RPR) in northern Canada during the spring–summer season(March–July)from 1979–2015. Our results indicate that ERA-Interim describes the spring–summer variations and trends in temperature and the RPR well. Both the spring–summer mean temperature [0.4℃–1℃(10 yr)^(-1)] and the RPR [2%–6%(10 yr)^(-1)] increased significantly in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago from 1979–2015. 2Arctic Climate Changes Based on Historical Simulations(1900-2013) with the CAMS-CSM显示文摘The Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences Climate System Model(CAMS-CSM) is a newly developed global climate model that will participate in the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project phase 6. Based on historical simulations(1900-2013), we evaluate the model performance in simulating the observed characteristics of the Arctic climate system, which includes air temperature, precipitation, the Arctic Oscillation(AO), ocean temperature/salinity,the Atlantic meridional overturning circulation(AMOC), snow cover, and sea ice. The model-data comparisons indicate that the CAMS-CSM reproduces spatial patterns of climatological mean air temperature over the Arctic(60°-90°N) and a rapid warming trend from 1979 to 2013. However, the warming trend is overestimated south of the Arctic Circle, implying a subdued Arctic amplification. The distribution of climatological precipitation in the Arctic is broadly captured in the model, whereas it shows limited skills in depicting the overall increasing trend. The AO can be reproduced by the CAMS-CSM in terms of reasonable patterns and variability. Regarding the ocean simulation, the model underestimates the AMOC and zonally averaged ocean temperatures and salinity above a depth of 500 m, and it fails to reproduce the observed increasing trend in the upper ocean heat content in the Arctic. The largescale distribution of the snow cover extent(SCE) in the Northern Hemisphere and the overall decreasing trend in the spring SCE are captured by the CAMS-CSM, while the biased magnitudes exist. Due to the underestimation of the AMOC and the poor quantification of air–sea interaction, the CAMS-CSM overestimates regional sea ice and underestimates the observed decreasing trend in Arctic sea–ice area in September. 4CaTiO_(3)-Sm_(0.9)Nd_(0.1)AlO_(3) ceramics with a moderate dielectric constant and a high quality factor prepared by sol-gel auto combustion method显示文摘CaTiO_(3)-LnAlO_(3)(Ln=La,Nd,Sm) is a perovskite-type microwave material system characterized by a moderate dielectric constant εr,a high quality factor Q×f,and a small temperature coefficient of resonant frequency τf,making this system promising for microwave devices.However,its high synthesis temperature and sintering temperature limit its industrial applications.In our work,single phase0.7 CaTiO_(3)-0.3 Sm_(0.9)Nd_(0.1)AlO_(3)(7 CT-3 SNA) was synthesized via the sol-gel auto combustion method using citric acid as fuel at a relatively low temperature.After being calcined at 600℃ for 2 h,wellcrystallized 7 CT-3 SNA powders with 30-50 nm average particle size were achieved,suggesting good sintering activity.The new and narrow order band at about 800 cm^(-1) in the Raman spectra indicates a high ordering degree in the B site of 7 CT-3 SNA solid solution.Compared with the solid-state reaction method and co-precipitation method,the 0.7 CT-0.3 SNA ceramics fabricated by the current method possess a much lower calcination temperature,a similar εr value,and an improved Q × f value.The optimum microwave dielectric properties of εr=43.54,Q×f=54375 GHz,and τf=-6.3 ×10^(-6)/℃ are obtained for the CTSA ceramics derived from the sol-gel auto combustion process.Therefore,the 7 CT-3 SNA ceramics prepared in this study are potential dielectric materials for microwave applications,indicating that the sol-gel auto combustion method is a good alternative strategy for the fabrication of CaTiO_(3)-LnAlO_(3) ceramics.Jiamao Li Minghu Wei Chenghao Wu Shengdao Tang 2021Journal of Rare Earths2021,39,11:1
5A video camera recording method for measuring terminal velocity of seed dispersal by wind显示文摘An accurate and convenient method is essential for measuring the terminal velocity of seeds dispersed by wind.Systematic and random errors produced by existing methods lower the accuracy and convenience in determining seed terminal velocity.In this study,a video camera was used to record the falling process of forty-one species of wind-borne seed with eight appendage structures and seven aerodynamic behaviors in a settling tower at a speed of 50 frames per second(fps).The videos were analyzed by Quick Time Player to determine seed acceleration height,acceleration time,and terminal velocity.The results showed that acceleration height and time,terminal velocity,and the diff erence between terminal velocity and descent velocity(DTD)increased with wing loading.Compared with dropping methods,the camera recording method eliminated the eff ect of acceleration and corrected seed terminal velocity.Based on wing loading,release heights were determined for accurate measurement of terminal velocity of diff erent seeds.This method,due to its inexpensive equipment,high accuracy,easy observation and operation,can be applied to measure the terminal velocity of wind dispersed seeds,and provides a promising method in exploring the dispersal process of seeds.Minghu Liu Zhiming Xin Zhi Su Yingming Zhao Xinle Li Zhimin Liu Mariano ACony Wei Liang Xuanping Qin Jianqiang Qian Xue Cui Quanlai Zhou 2021Journal of Forestry Research2021,32,1:0
6Significantly enhanced superconductivity in monolayer FeSe films on SrTiO_(3)(001) via metallic δ-doping显示文摘Superconductivity transition temperature(T_(c))marks the inception of a macroscopic quantum phase-coherent paired state in fermionic systems.For 2D superconductivity,the paired electrons condense into a coherent superfluid state at Tc,which is usually lower than the pairing temperature,between which intrinsic physics including Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless transition and pseudogap state are hotly debated.In the case of monolayer FeSe superconducting films on SrTiO_(3)(001),although the pairing temperature(T_(p))is revealed to be 65-83 K by using spectroscopy characterization,the measured zero-resistance temperature(T_(c)^(0))is limited to 20 K.Here,we report significantly enhanced superconductivity in monolayer FeSe films by δ-doping of Eu or Al on SrTiO_(3)(001)surface,in which T_(c)^(0) is enhanced by 12 K with a narrowed transition width ΔT_(c)~8 K,compared with non-doped samples.Using scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy measurements,we demonstrate lowered work function of the δ-doped SrTiO_(3)(001)surface and enlarged superconducting gaps in the monolayer FeSe with improved morphology/electronic homogeneity.Our work provides a practical route to enhance 2D superconductivity by using interface engineering.Xiaotong Jiao Wenfeng Dong Mingxia Shi Heng Wang Cui Ding Zhongxu Wei Guanming Gong Yanan Li Yuanzhao Li Binjie Zuo Jian Wang Ding Zhang Minghu Pan Lili Wang Qi-Kun Xue 2024National Science Review2024,11,3:0
7How do lateral septum projections to the ventral CA1 influence sociability?显示文摘Social dysfunction is a risk factor for several neuropsychiatric illnesses.Previous studies have shown that the lateral septum(LS)-related pathway plays a critical role in mediating social behaviors.Howeve r,the role of the connections between the LS and its downstream brain regions in social behavio rs remains unclea r.In this study,we conducted a three-chamber test using electrophysiological and chemogenetic approaches in mice to determine how LS projections to ventral CA1(vCA1)influence sociability.Our res ults showed that gamma-aminobutyric acid(GABA)-e rgic neuro ns were activated following social experience,and that social behavio rs were enhanced by chemogenetic modulation of these neurons.Moreover,LS GABAergic neurons extended their functional neural connections via vCA1 glutamatergic pyramidal neurons,and regulating LSGABA→vCA1Gluneural projections affected social behaviors,which were impeded by suppressing LSprojecting vCA1 neuronal activity or inhibiting GABAAreceptors in vCA1.These findings support the hypothesis that LS inputs to the vCA1 can control social prefe rences and social novelty behaviors.These findings provide new insights rega rding the neural circuits that regulate sociability.Dan Wang Di Zhao Wentao Wang Fengai Hu Minghu Cui Jing Liu Fantao Meng Cuilan Liu Changyun Qiu Dunjiang Liu Zhicheng Xu Yameng Wang Yu Zhang Wei Li Chen Li 2024Neural Regeneration Research2024,19,8:0
8Towards More Snow Days in Summer since 2001 at the Great Wall Station,Antarctic Peninsula:The Role of the Amundsen Sea Low显示文摘The variation in the precipitation phase in polar regions represents an important indicator of climate change and variability.We studied the precipitation phase at the Great Wall Station and Antarctic Peninsula(AP)region,based on daily precipitation,synoptic records and ERA-Interim data during the austral summers of 1985?2014.Overall,there was no trend in the total precipitation amount or days,but the phase of summer precipitation(rainfall days versus snowfall days)showed opposite trends before and after 2001 at the AP.The total summer rain days/snow days increased/decreased during 1985?2001 and significantly decreased at a rate of?14.13 d(10 yr)?1/increased at a rate of 14.31 d(10 yr)?1 during 2001?2014,agreeing well with corresponding variations in the surface air temperature.Further,we found that the longitudinal location of the Amundsen Sea low(ASL)should account for the change in the precipitation phase since 2001,as it has shown a westward drift after 2001[?41.1°(10 yr)?1],leading to stronger cold southerly winds,colder water vapor flux,and more snow over the AP region during summertime.This study points out a supplementary factor for the climate variation on the AP.Minghu DING Wei HAN Tong ZHANG Xiaoyuan YUE Jeremy FYKE Ge LIU Cunde XIAO 2020Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2020,37,5:0

10Assessment of Greenland surface melt algorithms based on DMSP and SMOS data显示文摘Satellite-borne microwave radiometers provide essential measurements to study the surface melt state of ice sheets. Therefore, selecting suitable microwave radiometer data is critical to characterize the spatial distribution of surface melt. In this study, we investigated the Greenland Ice Sheet and evaluated the usefulness, as climate indicators, of data acquired by microwave radiometers onboard the F17 satellite of the United States of America Defense Meteorological Satellite Program(DMSP) and the Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity(SMOS) satellite of the European Space Agency. First, surface melt was simulated using the DMSP dataset as input for a brightness temperature threshold algorithm, the Microwave Emission Model of Layered Snowpacks(MEMLS2), and the SMOS dataset as input for the L-band Specific MEMLS(LS-MEMLS). For accuracy evaluation, the simulation results were then compared with surface melt estimates derived from air temperature measurements at Automatic Weather Stations and from ice surface temperature measurements from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer(MODIS) satellite-borne instrument. Our results show that global(over Greenland) MEMLS2 simulation performance(overall accuracy 83%) was higher than that of LS-MEMLS(overall accuracy 78%). However, in southeastern Greenland, MEMLS2 omission error was markedly higher than that of LS-MEMLS, whereas LS-MEMLS could detect longer-lasting surface melt than MEMLS2. 11Cold-Start Link Prediction via Weighted Symmetric Nonnegative Matrix Factorization with Graph Regularization显示文摘Link prediction has attracted wide attention among interdisciplinaryresearchers as an important issue in complex network. It aims to predict the missing links in current networks and new links that will appear in future networks.Despite the presence of missing links in the target network of link prediction studies, the network it processes remains macroscopically as a large connectedgraph. However, the complexity of the real world makes the complex networksabstracted from real systems often contain many isolated nodes. This phenomenon leads to existing link prediction methods not to efficiently implement the prediction of missing edges on isolated nodes. Therefore, the cold-start linkprediction is favored as one of the most valuable subproblems of traditional linkprediction. However, due to the loss of many links in the observation network, thetopological information available for completing the link prediction task is extremely scarce. This presents a severe challenge for the study of cold-start link prediction. Therefore, how to mine and fuse more available non-topologicalinformation from observed network becomes the key point to solve the problemof cold-start link prediction. In this paper, we propose a framework for solving thecold-start link prediction problem, a joint-weighted symmetric nonnegative matrixfactorization model fusing graph regularization information, based on low-rankapproximation algorithms in the field of machine learning. First, the nonlinear features in high-dimensional space of node attributes are captured by the designedgraph regularization term. Second, using a weighted matrix, we associate the attribute similarity and first order structure information of nodes and constrain eachother. Finally, a unified framework for implementing cold-start link prediction isconstructed by using a symmetric nonnegative matrix factorization model to integrate the multiple information extracted together. 12Estimation and Long-term Trend Analysis of Surface Solar Radiation in Antarctica: A Case Study of Zhongshan Station显示文摘Long-term,ground-based daily global solar radiation (DGSR) at Zhongshan Station in Antarctica can quantitatively reveal the basic characteristics of Earth’s surface radiation balance and validate satellite data for the Antarctic region.The fixed station was established in 1989,and conventional radiation observations started much later in 2008.In this study,a random forest (RF) model for estimating DGSR is developed using ground meteorological observation data,and a highprecision,long-term DGSR dataset is constructed.Then,the trend of DGSR from 1990 to 2019 at Zhongshan Station,Antarctica is analyzed.The RF model,which performs better than other models,shows a desirable performance of DGSR hindcast estimation with an R^2 of 0.984,root-mean-square error of 1.377 MJ m^(-2),and mean absolute error of 0.828 MJ m^(-2).The trend of DGSR annual anomalies increases during 1990–2004 and then begins to decrease after 2004.Note that the maximum value of annual anomalies occurs during approximately 2004/05 and is mainly related to the days with precipitation (especially those related to good weather during the polar day period) at this station.In addition to clouds and water vapor,bad weather conditions (such as snowfall,which can result in low visibility and then decreased sunshine duration and solar radiation) are the other major factors affecting solar radiation at this station.The high-precision,longterm estimated DGSR dataset enables further study and understanding of the role of Antarctica in global climate change and the interactions between snow,ice,and atmosphere.Zhaoliang ZENG Zemin WANG Minghu DING Xiangdong ZHENG Xiaoyu SUN Wei ZHU Kongju ZHU Jiachun AN Lin ZANG Jianping GUO Baojun ZHANG 2021Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2021,38,9:0
