| 2 | Synergetic anticancer effect of combined quercetin and recombinant adenoviral vector expressing human wild-type p53,GM-CSF and B7-1 genes on hepatocellular carcinoma cells in vitro显示文摘AIM: This study investigated the anti-cancer effect ofcombined quercetin and a recombinant adenovirus vectorexpressing the human p53, GM-CSF and B7-1 genes(designated BB-102) on human hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) cell lines in vitro.METHODS: The sensitivity of HCC cells to anticancer agentswas evaluated by 3-(4,5- dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. The viability of cells infectedwith BB-102 was determined by trypan blue exclusion. Theexpression levels of human wild-type p53, GM-CSF and B7-1genes were determined by Western blot, enzyme-linkedimmunosorbent assay (ELISA) and flow cytometric analysis,respectively. The apoptosis of BB-102-infected or quercetin-treated HCC cells was detected by terminal deoxynucleotidyltransferase (TdT) assay or DNA ladder electrophoresis.RESULTS: Quercetin was found to suppress proliferation ofhuman HCC cell lines BEL-7402, HUH-7 and HLE, with peaksuppression at 50 μmol/L quercetin. BB-102 infection wasalso found to significantly suppress proliferation of HCC celllines. The apoptosis of BB-102-infected HCC cells was greaterin HLE and HUH-7 cells than in BEL-7402 cells. | 3 | Chemical formation and source apportionment of PM_(2.5) at an urban site at the southern foot of the Taihang mountains显示文摘The region along the Taihang Mountains in the North China Plain(NCP) is characterized by serious fine particle pollution. To clarify the formation mechanism and controlling factors, an observational study was conducted to investigate the physical and chemical properties of the fine particulate matter in Jiaozuo city, China. Mass concentrations of the water-soluble ions(WSIs) in PM_(2.5) and gaseous pollutant precursors were measured on an hourly basis from December 1, 2017, to February 27, 2018. The positive matrix factorization(PMF) method and the FLEXible PARTicle(FLEXPART) model were employed to identify the sources of PM_(2.5). The results showed that the average mass concentration of PM_(2.5) was 111 μg/m^(3) during the observation period. Among the major WSIs, sulfate, nitrate, and ammonium(SNA) constituted 62% of the total PM_(2.5) mass, and NO_(3)^(-) ranked the highest with an average contribution of 24.6%. NH_(4)^(+) was abundant in most cases in Jiaozuo. According to chemical balance analysis, SO_(2)-4, NO_(3)^(-), and Cl^(-) might be present in the form of(NH_4)_(2)SO_4, NH_4NO_3, NH_4Cl, and KCl. The liquid-phase oxidation of SO_(2) and NO_(2) was severe during the haze period. The relative humidity and pH were the key factors influencing SO_(4)^(2-) formation. We found that NO_(3)^(-) mainly stemmed from homogeneous gas-phase reactions in the daytime and originated from the hydrolysis of N_(2)O_5 in the nighttime, which was inconsistent with previous studies. | 5 | Sustained release donepezil loaded PLGA microspheres for injection:Preparation,in vitro and in vivo study显示文摘The purpose of this study was to develop a PLGA microspheres-based donepezil(DP)formulation which was expected to sustain release of DP for one week with high encapsulation efficiency(EE).DP derived from donepezil hydrochloride was encapsulated in PLGA microspheres by the O/W emulsion-solvent evaporation method.The optimized formulation which avoided the crushing of microspheres during the preparation process was characterized in terms of particle size,morphology,drug loading and EE,physical state of DP in the matrix and in vitro and in vivo release behavior.DP microspheres were prepared successfully with average diameter of 30m,drug loading of 15.92±0.31%and EE up to 78.79±2.56%.Scanning electron microscope image showed it has integrated spherical shape with no drug crystal and porous on its surface.Differential scanning calorimetry and X-ray diffraction results suggested DP was in amorphous state or molecularly dispersed in microspheres.The Tg of PLGA was increased with the addition of DP.The release profile in vitro was characterized with slow but continuous release that lasted for about one week and fitted well with first-order model,which suggested the diffusion governing release mechanism.After single-dose administration of DP microspheres via subcutaneous injection in rats,the plasma concentration of DP reached peak concentration at 0.50 d,and then declined gradually,but was still detectable at 15 d.A good correlation between in vitro and in vivo data was obtained.The results suggest the potential use of DP microspheres for treatment of Alzheimer’s disease over long periods. | Wenjia Guo Peng Quan Liang Fang Dongmei Cun Mingshi Yang | 2015 | Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2015,10,5: | 4 |
| 6 | Co-delivery of resveratrol and docetaxel via polymeric micelles to improve the treatment of drug-resistant tumors显示文摘Co-delivery of anti-cancer drugs is promising to improve the efficacy of cancer treatment.This study was aiming to investigate the potential of concurrent delivery of resveratrol(RES)and docetaxel(DTX)via polymeric nanocarriers to treat breast cancer.To this end,methoxyl poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(D,L-lactide)copolymer(mPEG-PDLA)was prepared and characterized using FTIR and 1H NMR,and their molecular weights were determined by GPC.Isobologram analysis and combination index calculation were performed to find the optimal ratio between RES and DTX to against human breast adenocarcinoma cell line(MCF-7 cells).Subsequently,RES and DTX were loaded in the mPEG-PDLA micelles simultaneously,and the morphology,particle size distribution,in vitro release,pharmacokinetic profiles,as well as cytotoxicity to the MCF-7 cells were characterized.IC50 of RES and DTX in MCF-7 cells were determined to be 23.0μg/ml and 10.4μg/ml,respectively,while a lower IC50 of 4.8μg/ml of the combination of RES and DTX was obtained.The combination of RES and DTX at a ratio of 1:1(w/w)generated stronger synergistic effect than other ratios in the MCF-7 cells.RES and DTX loaded mPEG-PDLA micelles exhibited prolonged release profiles,and enhanced cytotoxicity in vitro against MCF-7 cells.The AUC(0→t)of DTX and RES in mPEG-PDLA micelles after i.v.administration to rats were 3.0-fold and 1.6-fold higher than that of i.v.injections of the individual drugs.These findings indicated that the co-delivery of RES and DTX using mPEG-PDLA micelles could have better treatment of tumors. | Xiong Guo Zhiyue Zhao Dawei Chen Mingxi Qiao Feng Wan Dongmei Cun Yi Sun Mingshi Yang | 2019 | Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2019,14,1: | 4 |

The activating modes in brain during continuous silent calculating subtraction and repeated silent reading multiplication table were compared and investigated. Fourteen volunteers of right-handedness were enrolled in this experiment. The quite difference of reaction modes in brain area during the two modes of calculation reveal that there are different processing pathways in brain during these two operating actions. During continuous silent calculating, the function area is localized on the posterior portion of superior and middle gyrus of frontal lobe and the lobule of posterior parietal lobe (P < 0.01, T = 5.41). It demonstrates that these function areas play an important role in the performance of calculation and working memory. | 8 | Spatio-temporal Variations in Plantation Forests'Disturbance and Recovery of Northern Guangdong Province Using Yearly Landsat Time Series Observations(1986-2015)显示文摘Forest disturbance plays a vital role in modulating carbon storage,biodiversity and climate change.Yearly Landsat imagery from 1986 to 2015 of a typical plantation region in the northern Guangdong province of southern China was used as a case study.A Landsat time series stack(LTSS) was fed to the vegetation change tracker model(VCT) to map long-term changes in plantation forests' disturbance and recovery,followed by an intensive validation and a continuous 27-yr change analysis on disturbance locations,magnitudes and rates of plantations' disturbance and recovery.And the validation results of the disturbance year maps derived from five randomly identified sample plots with 25 km^2 located at the four corners and the center of the scene showed the majority of the spatial agreement measures ranged from 60% to 83%.A confusion matrix summary of the accuracy measures for all four validation sites in Fogang County showed that the disturbance year maps had an overall accuracy estimate of 71.70%.Forest disturbance rates' change trend was characterized by a decline first,followed by an increase,then giving way to a decline again.An undulated and gentle decreasing trend of disturbance rates from the highest value of 3.95% to the lowest value of 0.76% occurred between 1988 and 2001,disturbance rate of 4.51% in 1994 was a notable anomaly,while after 2001 there was a sharp ascending change,forest disturbance rate spiked in 2007(5.84%).After that,there was a significant decreasing trend up to the lowest value of 1.96% in 2011 and a slight ascending trend from 2011 to 2015(2.59%).Two obvious spikes in post-disturbance recovery rates occurred in 1995(0.26%) and 2008(0.41%).Overall,forest recovery rates were lower than forest disturbance rates.Moreover,forest disturbance and recovery detection based on VCT and the Landsat-based detections of trends in disturbance and recovery(LandT rendr) algorithms in Fogang County have been conducted,with LandT rendr finding mostly much more disturbance than VCT.Overall,disturbances and recoveries in northern Guangdong were triggered mostly by timber needs,policies and decisions of the local governments.This study highlights that a better understanding about plantations' changes would provide a critical foundation for local forest management decisions in the southern China. | SHEN Wenjuan LI Mingshi WEI Anshi | 2017 | Chinese Geographical Science2017,27,4: | 3 |
| 9 | Machine learning and geostatistical approaches for estimating aboveground biomass in Chinese subtropical forests显示文摘Background:Aboveground biomass(AGB)is a fundamental indicator of forest ecosystem productivity and health and hence plays an essential role in evaluating forest carbon reserves and supporting the development of targeted forest management plans.Methods:Here,we proposed a random forest/co-kriging framework that integrates the strengths of machine learning and geostatistical approaches to improve the mapping accuracies of AGB in northern Guangdong Province of China.We used Landsat time-series observations,Advanced Land Observing Satellite(ALOS)Phased Array L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar(PALSAR)data,and National Forest Inventory(NFI)plot measurements,to generate the forest AGB maps at three time points(1992,2002 and 2010)showing the spatio-temporal dynamics of AGB in the subtropical forests in Guangdong,China.Results:The proposed model was capable of mapping forest AGB using spectral,textural,topographical variables and the radar backscatter coefficients in an effective and reliable manner.The root mean square error of the plotlevel AGB validation was between 15.62 and 53.78 t∙ha^(−1),the mean absolute error ranged from 6.54 to 32.32 t∙ha^(−1),the bias ranged from−2.14 to 1.07 t∙ha^(−1),and the relative improvement over the random forest algorithm was between 3.8%and 17.7%.The largest coefficient of determination(0.81)and the smallest mean absolute error(6.54 t∙ha^(−1)were observed in the 1992 AGB map.The spectral saturation effect was minimized by adding the PALSAR data to the modeling variable set in 2010.By adding elevation as a covariable,the co-kriging outperformed the ordinary kriging method for the prediction of the AGB residuals,because co-kriging resulted in better interpolation results in the valleys and plains of the study area.Conclusions:Validation of the three AGB maps with an independent dataset indicated that the random forest/cokriging performed best for AGB prediction,followed by random forest coupled with ordinary kriging(random forest/ordinary kriging),and the random forest model.The proposed random forest/co-kriging framework provides an accurate and reliable method for AGB mapping in subtropical forest regions with complex topography.The resulting AGB maps are suitable for the targeted development of forest management actions to promote carbon sequestration and sustainable forest management in the context of climate change. | Huiyi Su Wenjuan Shen Jingrui Wang Arshad Ali Mingshi Li | 2020 | Forest Ecosystems2020,7,4: | 3 |

A simple memory function and the dependence of ηo and τt on M3.4 were derived from the theory of non-linear viscoelasticity with constraints of entanglements for polymer melts and substituted into the Oldroye-Walters-Fredickson constitutive equation. An integral constitutive equation for polymer melts was consequently obtained. Some material functions of the constitutive equation related to certain 'test flow' are examined as follows : (1) simple steady shear flow; (2) steady elongation flow; (3) small-amplitude oscillatory shear flow; (4) stress growth upon the inception of steady shear elongation flow; (5) stress relaxation (modulus and compllance). These theoretical relations for simple steady shear flow were compared with experimental data from our laboratory and references for various polymer melts and concentrated solutions. Timely, accurate and spatially explicit information on forest disturbance and recovery history is required for assessing the effectiveness of existing forest management. The major objectives of our research focused on testing the mapping efficacy of the vegetation change tracker(VCT) model over a forested area in China. We used a new version of VCT algorithm built upon the Landsat time series stacks(LTSS). The LTSS consisted of yearly image acquisitions to map forest disturbance history from 1987 to 2011 over the Ning-Zhen Mountains, Jiangsu Province of east China. The LTSS consisted of TM and ETM+ scenes with different projections due to distinct data sources(Beijing remote sensing ground station and the USGS EROS Center). The validation results of the disturbance year maps showed that most spatial agreement measures ranged from 70 to 86 %,comparable with the VCT accuracies reported for many places in USA. Very low accuracies were identified in 1995(38.3 %) and 1992(56.2 %) in the current analysis. These resulted from the insensitivity of the VCT algorithm to detect low intensity disturbances and also from the misregistration errors of the image pairs. Major forest disturbance types existing in our study area were identified as agricultural expansion(39.8 %), urbanization(24.9 %),forest management practice(19.3 %), and mining(12.8 %). In general, there was a gradual decreasing trend in forest cover throughout this region, caused principally by China's economic, demographic, environmental and political policies and decisions, as well as some weather events.
