2Induced abortion among unmarried women in China显示文摘This study uses a literature review to probe the prevalence and trends of induced abortions among unmarried women since the 1980s.Premarital pregnancy has become more and more common,and this has pushed the premarital abortion rate still higher.With the premarital abortion rate remaining markedly high in China,the percentage of women who have experienced premarital abortions has risen stead-ily with the passage of time.Not only has the prevalence of premarital abortions increased in China on the whole,but there is evidence that some young women have had multiple abortions.Premarital abortion is more prevalent in urban areas and among migrants and less-educated women.The huge number of premarital abor-tions not only signifies a palpable,unmet need for contraceptives,but also repre-sents an immense number of unrealized births.In the years to come,it is imperative to strengthen research into premarital abortions,to optimize the approaches to data collection and analysis,and to improve reproductive health services for unmarried women.Mengjun Tang 2022China Population and Development Studies2022,6,1:1
3Evolution of Asian drying since 30 Ma revealed by clay minerals record in the West Pacific and its tectonic-climatic forcing显示文摘As the second largest dust source on the globe,the tectonic and climatic evolution of continental Asia has an important impact on regional and global climate change.The West Pacific is the main sediment sink for eolian dust transported eastward from the Asian interior.Clay minerals,as the major fine-grained weathering products of continental rocks,can be readily transported by wind or currents over long distances and thus have been widely used in the reconstruction of paleoclimate and weathering history.However,the overall evolutionary tendency and response mechanism of clay mineral records over large spatial and long timescales across Asia remain unclear.Here,two continuous and high-resolution clay mineral records since 30 Ma were reconstructed from sediments at Deep Sea Drilling Program(DSDP)Sites 292 and 296 in the Philippine Sea.Clay minerals and Sr-Nd isotope compositions were used to constrain provenance and reconstruct the drying history of the dust source region since the Oligocene.The results show that the clay-sized detrital sediments in the Philippine Sea are a mixture of Asian eolian dust and volcanic materials from the West Pacific arcs.Based on the clay mineral compositions and eolian flux,we reveal that the Asian interior has been continuously drying since the late Oligocene and that stepwise enhanced aridification occurred at approximately 20,14,7,and 3 Ma.Compared with other regions of the world,the relative contents of illite and chlorite increased more dramatically in Asia during the late Cenozoic,and the inconsistency became more obvious at approximately 20 Ma.Since 3 Ma,illite and chlorite have increased consistently across the globe.Combined with the Asian tectonic and climatic history,we suggest that the increase in illite and chlorite from Asia between 20 and 3 Ma was mainly in response to the uplift of the Himalayan-Tibetan Plateau,whereas after 3 Ma,it was primarily controlled by global cooling driven by the expansion of the Arctic ice sheet.Yi TANG Shiming WAN Debo ZHAO Zhaojie YU Zhaokai XU Jin ZHANG Zehua SONG Mengjun LI Hualong JIN Wenjun JIAO Hongkun DONG Anchun LI 2023Science China Earth Sciences2023,66,6:0
4Identification of Avian-Derived Ingredients in Livestock and Poultry Meat by PCR Technology显示文摘In order to establish a quick and specific method which could identify the avian-derived ingredients,this study used 16 S rRNA gene sequence as target site,and designed the specific primers of chicken,pigeon meat and quail meat. The DNA of common livestock and poultry meat( including mutton,beef,pork,rabbit meat,pigeon meat,quail meat,chicken,duck and goose) was used as template. Though PCR amplification and specific detection,a quick determination method was established to identify the avian-derived ingredients. The results showed that the selected primers could identify the ingredients of animal origin effectively and quickly. 5An artificial interphase enables stable PVDF-based solid-state Li metal batteries显示文摘Composite polymer electrolytes(CPEs)have attracted much attention for high energy density solid-state lithium-metal batteries owing to their flexibility,low cost,and easy scale-up.However,the unstable Li/CPE interface is always challengeable for the practical utilization of CPEs.Herein,a polymer interlayer containing K+prepared by ultraviolet(UV)-curing precursor solution is coated on Li surface to stabilize the interface between poly(vinylidene difluoride)(PVDF)composite electrolytes and Li anode.Benefiting from the physical barrier of the interlayer,the continuous decomposition of PVDF is restrained and the intimate contact between electrode and electrolyte is also achieved to reduce the interface impedance.Moreover,the added K+is utilized to further regulate smooth Li deposition.As a consequence,the symmetric Li|Li cell with coated Li demonstrates steady cycling at 0.4 mAh·cm^(-2) and a high critical current density of 1 mA·cm^(-2).The assembled Li|LiFePO_(4) cell presents outstanding cycling stability(capacity retention of 90%after 400 cycles at 1 C)and good rate performance.The associated pouch cell performs impressive flexibility and safety.This work provides a convenient strategy to achieve stable Li/PVDF interface for high-performance PVDF-based solid state Li metal batteries.Mengjun Wu Jiangping Song Jiaheng Lei Haolin Tang 2024Nano Research2024,17,3:0
6Effects of Polygonatum odoratum Polysaccharide on Reproductive Hormones in Male Rats Fed a High-fat Diet显示文摘[Objectives]This study was conducted to investigate the effects of Polygonatum odoratum polysaccharide(POP)on organ relative weights and reproductive hormone levels in male rats fed a high-fat diet.[Methods]Thirty healthy male Sprague-Dawley(SD)rats were randomly divided into two groups according to their body weight:10 in normal control group(Group NC,n=10)and 20 in experimental group(n=20).The rats in experimental group were fed a high-fat diet for eight weeks before they were further randomly divided into two groups:high fat group(Group HF)and high fat+400 mg/(kg·d)POP group(Group HF+POP).In Group HF+POP,the rats were administered with POP for another six weeks,before their blood plasma was collected,and the relative weights of their testis and epididymis were calculated.The plasma levels of testosterone(T),estrogen(E2),follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH),cortisol(C)and luteinizing hormone(LH)were measured by radioimmunoassay,and the plasma levels of sex hormone-binding globulin(SHBG)and insulin-like growth factor-1(IGF-1)were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.[Results]Compared with Group HF,POP could effectively inhibit rat obesity caused by high-fat diets,increase the relative weights of their testis and epididymis,plasma levels of LH,E2,FSH,T,SHBG and IGF-1,and reduce the plasma level of E2.[Conclusions]Polygonatum odoratum polysaccharide(POP)is able to effectively regulate the level of reproductive hormones in high-fat diet fed rats,and helps to protect their reproductive function.Yixin YAN Gang ZHANG Lingli BAI Xin TANG Mengjun YUAN Yihong HU Yan WANG Chenzhong JIN 2023Agricultural Biotechnology2023,12,2:0
7On-site conversion reaction enables ion-conducting surface on red phosphorus/carbon anode for durable and fast sodium-ion batteries显示文摘The practical applications of high-capacity alloy-type anode materials in sodium-ion batteries(SIBs)are challenged by their vast volume effects and resulting unstable electrode-electrolyte interphases during discharge-charge cycling.Taking red phosphorus(P)/carbon anode material as an example,we report an on-site conversion reaction to intentionally eliminate the volume effect-dominated surface P and yield an ionically conducting layer of Na3PS4solid-state electrolyte on the composite.Such a surface reconstruction can significantly suppress the electrode swelling and simultaneously enable the activation energy of interfacial Na+transfer as low as 36.7 k J mol^(-1),resulting in excellent electrode stability and ultrafast reaction kinetics.Consequently,excellent cycling performance(510 mA h g^(-1)at 5 A g^(-1)after 1000 cycles with a tiny capacity fading rate of 0.016%per cycle)and outstanding rate capability(484 mA h g^(-1)at 10 A g^(-1)are achieved in half cells.When coupled with Na_(3)V_(2)(PO4)3cathode,the full cells exhibit 100%capacity retention over 200 cycles at 5C with an average Coulombic efficiency of 99.93%and a high energy density of 125.5 W h kg^(-1)at a power density of 8215.6 W kg^(-1)(charge or discharge within~49 s).Remarkably,the full cell can steadily operate at a high areal capacity of 1.9 mA h cm^(-2),the highest level among red P-based full SIBs ever reported.Jiangping Song Xin Peng Dan Liu Hao Li Mengjun Wu Kan Fang Xinxin Zhu Xinyuan Xiang Haolin Tang 2023Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,5:0

10Addressing skewed sex ratio at birth in China:practices and challenges显示文摘The sex ratio at birth(SRB)in China began to rise rapidly in the 1980s and declined after 2009.The ratio has maintained a downward trend since 2009,but is still higher than the normal level.The government of China has committed to redress the distortions in SRB and has initiated multiple actions to accomplish that end.Against a background of economic development,accelerating modernization and the empowerment of women,China has strengthened governance and made significant progress in balancing the sex ratio at birth.This paper examines the trend for SRB in China,summarizes the practices that address gender imbalance at birth,and analyzes the challenges ahead.Mengjun Tang 2021China Population and Development Studies2021,4,1:0
