| 1 | Clarifying sub-genomic positions of QTLs for flowering habit and fruit quality in U.S. strawberry (Fragaria×ananassa) breeding populations using pedigree-based QTL analysis显示文摘The cultivated strawberry(Fragaria×ananassa)is consumed worldwide for its flavor and nutritional benefits.Genetic analysis of commercially important traits in strawberry are important for the development of breeding methods and tools for this species.Although several quantitative trait loci(QTL)have been previously detected for fruit quality and flowering traits using low-density genetic maps,clarity on the sub-genomic locations of these QTLs was missing.Recent discoveries in allo-octoploid strawberry genomics led to the development of the IStraw90 single-nucleotide polymorphism(SNP)array,enabling high-density genetic maps and finer resolution QTL analysis.In this study,breeder-specified traits were evaluated in the Eastern(Michigan)and Western(Oregon)United States for a common set of breeding populations during 2 years.Several QTLs were validated for soluble solids content(SSC),fruit weight(FWT),pH and titratable acidity(TA)using a pedigree-based QTL analysis approach.For fruit quality,a QTL for SSC on linkage group(LG)6A,a QTL for FWT on LG 2BII,a QTL for pH on LG 4CII and two QTLs for TA on LGs 2A and 5B were detected.In addition,a large-effect QTL for flowering was detected at the distal end of LG 4A,coinciding with the FaPFRU locus.Marker haplotype analysis in the FaPFRU region indicated that the homozygous recessive genotype was highly predictive of seasonal flowering.SNP probes in the FaPFRU region may help facilitate marker-assisted selection for this trait. | Sujeet Verma Jason D Zurn Natalia Salinas Megan M Mathey Beatrice Denoyes James F Hancock Chad E Finn Nahla V Bassil Vance M Whitaker | 2017 | Horticulture Research2017,4,1: | 10 |
| 2 | Type 1 diabetes and polyglandular autoimmune syndrome: A review显示文摘Type 1 diabetes(T1D) is an autoimmune disorder caused by inflammatory destruction of the pancreatic tissue. The etiopathogenesis and characteristics of the pathologic process of pancreatic destruction are well described. In addition, the putative susceptibility genes for T1 D as a monoglandular disease and the relation to polyglandular autoimmune syndrome(PAS) have also been wellexplored. The incidence of T1 D has steadily increased in most parts of the world, especially in industrialized nations. T1 D is frequently associated with autoimmune endocrine and non-endocrine diseases and patients with T1 D are at a higher risk for developing several glandular autoimmune diseases. Familial clustering is observed, which suggests that there is a genetic predisposition. Various hypotheses pertaining to viral- and bacterialinduced pancreatic autoimmunity have been proposed, however a definitive delineation of the autoimmune pathomechanism is still lacking. In patients with PAS, pancreatic and endocrine autoantigens either colocalize on one antigen-presenting cell or are expressed on two/various target cells sharing a common amino acid, which facilitates binding to and activation of T cells. The most prevalent PAS phenotype is the adult type 3 variant or PAS type Ⅲ, which encompasses T1 D and autoimmune thyroid disease. | 4 | Irritable bowel syndrome and chronic pelvic pain: A singular or two different clinical syndrome?显示文摘Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and chronic pelvic pain (CPP) are both somatoform disorders with a high prevalence within the population in general. The objective was to compare both entities, to fi nd the differences and the similarities related to epidemiology and psychosocial aspects like stressful life events, physical and sexual abuse, illness behaviour and comorbidity. The technical literature was reviewed systematically from 1971 to 2006 and compared. According to literature, IBS and CPP seem to be one rather than two different entities with the same localisation of pain. Both syndromes also are similar concerning prevalence, the coexistence of mental and somatoform disorders, the common history of sexual and physical abuse in the past and their health care utilization. It could be shown that there were many similarities between IBS and CPP. Nevertheless both are traded as different clinical pictures as far.
