| 1 | Mineral processing plant location using the analytic hierarchy process——a case study:the Sangan iron ore mine(phase 1)显示文摘Locating the mineral processing plant near a mine is the most important parameter that affects the whole process.Many factors,and their preferences,should be considered in this stage.The factors include economical,geological,technical,environmental and tectonic parameters.A multi-criteria decision making method is necessary to rank the alternatives.In this paper we describe how plant location is selected by using the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP).This method,with eight criteria,was used to select a location for the mineral processing plant at the Sangan iron ore mine(phase 1).Three alternatives for the processing plant were evaluated.The main criteria were distance from the mine,access to heavy machinery transport,the amount of excavation required for grading,bed mixture capacity,belt conveyor length,distance from the tailing dam,distance from the waste dumps and surface water diversion requirements.Finally,the alternatives were ranked and the best location was proposed. | SAFARI Mohsen ATAEI Mohammad KHALOKAKAIE Reza KARAMOZIAN Mohammad | 2010 | Mining Science and Technology2010,20,5: | 15 |
| 2 | Classification and assessment of rock mass parameters in Choghart iron mine using P-wave velocity显示文摘Engineering rock mass classification,based on empirical relations between rock mass parameters and engineering applications,is commonly used in rock engineering and forms the basis for designing rock structures.The basic data required may be obtained from visual observation and laboratory or field tests.However,owing to the discontinuous and variable nature of rock masses,it is difficult for rock engineers to directly obtain the specific design parameters needed.As an alternative,the use of geophysical methods in geomechanics such as seismography may largely address this problem.In this study,25 seismic profiles with the total length of 543 m have been scanned to determine the geomechanical properties of the rock mass in blocks Ⅰ,Ⅲ and Ⅳ-2 of the Choghart iron mine.Moreover,rock joint measurements and sampling for laboratory tests were conducted.The results show that the rock mass rating(RMR) and Q values have a close relation with P-wave velocity parameters,including P-wave velocity in field(V_(PF)).P-wave velocity in the laboratory(V_(PL)) and the ratio of V_(PF) V_(PL)(i.e.K_p = V_(PF)/V_(PL).However,Q value,totally,has greater correlation coefficient and less error than the RMR,In addition,rock mass parameters including rock quality designation(RQD),uniaxial compressive strength(UCS),joint roughness coefficient(JRC) and Schmidt number(RN) show close relationship with P-wave velocity.An equation based on these parameters was obtained to estimate the P-wave velocity in the rock mass with a correlation coefficient of 91%.The velocities in two orthogonal directions and the results of joint study show that the wave velocity anisotropy in rock mass may be used as an efficient tool to assess the strong and weak directions in rock mass. | Mohammadreza Hemmati Nourani Mohsen Taheri Moghadder Mohsen Safari | 2017 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2017,9,2: | 8 |
| 3 | Quercetin protects liver injury induced by bile duct ligation via attenuation of Rac1 and NADPH oxidase1 expression in rats显示文摘BACKGROUND: Bile duct ligation(BDL) and subsequent cholestasis are correlated with oxidative stress, hepatocellular injury and fibrosis. Quercetin is a flavonoid with antifibrotic,and hepatoprotective properties. However, the molecular mechanism underlying quercetin-mediated hepatoprotection is not fully understood. The current study was to evaluate mechanisms of hepatoprotective effect of quercetin in BDL rat model.METHODS: We divided male Wistar rats into 4 groups(n=8 for each): sham, sham+quercetin(30 mg/kg per day), BDL, and BDL+quercetin(30 mg/kg per day). Four weeks later, the rats were sacrificed, the blood was collected for liver enzyme measurements and liver for the measurement of Rac1, Rac1-GTP and NOX1 mR NA and protein levels by quantitative PCR and Western blotting, respectively.RESULTS: Quercetin significantly alleviated liver injury in BDL rats as evidenced by histology and reduced liver enzymes.Furthermore, the m RNA and protein expression of Rac1,Rac1-GTP and NOX1 were significantly increased in BDL rats compared with those in the sham group(P<0.05); quercetin treatment reversed these variables back toward normal(P<0.05). | 4 | Applications of stem cells in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics:Current trends and future perspectives显示文摘A simple overview of daily orthodontic practice involves use of brackets, wires and elastomeric modules. However, investigating the underlying effect of orthodontic forces shows various molecular and cellular changes. Also, orthodontics is in close relation with dentofacial orthopedics which involves bone regeneration. In this review current and future applications of stem cells(SCs) in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics have been discussed. For craniofacial anomalies, SCs have been applied to regenerate hard tissue(such as treatment of alveolar cleft) and soft tissue(such as treatment of hemifacial macrosomia). Several attempts have been done to reconstruct impaired temporomandibular joint. Also, SCs with or without bone scaffolds and growth factors have been used to regenerate bone following distraction osteogenesis of mandibular bone or maxillary expansion. Current evidence shows that SCs also have potential to be used to regenerate infrabony alveolar defects and move the teeth into regenerated areas. Future application of SCs in orthodontics could involve accelerating tooth movement, regenerating resorbed roots and expanding tooth movement limitations. | 5 | Immunomodulatory effects of astragalus polysaccharide on Human peripheral blood mononuclear cells co-cultured with cervical cancer cell lineImmunomodulatory effects of astragalus polysaccharide on Human peripheral blood mononuclear cells co-cultured with cervical cancer cell line显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To investigate immunomodulatory effects of Astragalus polysaccharides(APS)on the co-culture of peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PBMCs)with He La cervical cancer cell line.METHODS:To assess the proliferation of PBMCs,carboxyfluorescein succinimidyl ester(CFSE)-labeled PBMCs were co-cultured with He La cells and treated with different concentrations of APS.Supernatants of cell culture were collected for cytokines assay via enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).The impact of APS on the proliferation of PBMCs,induction of regulatory T cells(Tregs),and myeloid-derived suppressor cells(MDSCs)was carried out by flow cytometry.RESULTS:It was observed that APS could increase the proliferation of PBMCs co-cultured with He La cells(P<0.05).However,APS had no significant effects on the induction of Tregs and MDSCs in the co-culture assay(P>0.05).Furthermore,ELISA results demonstrated that APS could decrease IL-10 and TGF-βconcentration(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:The above-mentioned characteristics showed that APS might be able to modulate immune responses and improve anti-tumor effects through increasing the proliferation of PBMCs and decreasing inhibitory cytokines secretion as critical mediators of immune suppression in the tumor microenvironment. | Elham Shokati Mohammad-Reza Shokri Kobra Entezami Samaneh Khorrami Mona Amani Morteza Motallebnezhad Elahe Safari | 2021 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2021,41,5: | 5 |
| 6 | Biochar colloids and their use in contaminants removal显示文摘In this study, we report on the extraction, characterization, and potential applications of colloidal biochar derived from pyrolyzed wood-an untapped source of carbonaceous particles.A series of characterizations was performed on biochar colloids to unravel their colloidal properties and surface chemistry through which it was found that they have a net negative charge and are stable between pH 3 and 10.Moreover,our initial toxicity tests showed that biochar colloids themselves are not toxic and they can be used in remediation applications,which led us to investigate(1)their copper sorption,a model inorganic contaminant,in a scenario that biochar colloids are released into the environment and(2)their potential use in organic pollutants adsorption and degradation.Copper sorption studies showed that biochar colloids have a copper sorption capacity as high as 22 mg g^(−1) in sub-ppm copper solutions.This increased the acute 48 h lethal concentration(LC50)of copper for Daphnia magna by 21 ppb,which is comparable to the previously reported effect by dissolved organic matter.Adsorption and degradation of methylene blue(MB),an often-used proxy for organic contaminants in water,were studied by coupling the biochar colloids to positively charged TiO_(2) nanoparticles and using it as a photocatalyst.The hybrid MB photodegradation efficiency was 21%higher than that of TiO_(2) nanoparticles alone.Enhancement of demethylation is proposed as the main degradation mechanism of MB,as confirmed by liquid chromatography-mass spectroscopy(LC/MS),and the positive impact of biochar colloids is ascribed to their abundant adsorption sites,which may facilitate MB adsorption and its photocatalytic degradation. | Salman Safari Konstantin von Gunten MdSamrat Alam Magdalena Hubmann Tamzin ABlewett Ziyi Chi Daniel SAlessi | 2019 | Biochar2019,1,2: | 4 |

This catalyst is easily separated by magnetic devices and can be reused without any apparent loss of activity for the reaction. | 9 | Multigene genetic programming for sediment transport modeling in sewers for conditions of non-deposition with a bed deposit显示文摘It is known that construction of large sewers based on consideration of flow with non-deposition without a bed deposit is not economical. Sewer design based on consideration of flow with nondeposition with a bed deposit reduces channel bed slope and construction cost in which the presence of a small depth of sediment deposition on the bed increases the sediment transport capacity of the flow.This paper suggests a new Pareto-optimal model developed by the multigene genetic programming(MGGP) technique to estimate particle Froude number(Frp) in large sewers with conditions of sediment deposition on the bed. To this end, four data sets including wide ranges of sediment size and concentration, deposit thickness, and pipe size are used. On the basis of different statistical performance indices, the efficiency of the proposed Pareto-optimal MGGP model is compared to those of the best MGGP model developed in the current study as well as the conventional regression models available in the literature. The results indicate the higher efficiency of the MGGP-based models for Frp estimation in the case of no additional deposition onto a bed with a sediment deposit. | 11 | Bio-ecology of malaria vectors in an endemic area,Southeast of Iran显示文摘Objective:To determine some bio-ecological aspects of malaria vectors in Jask County,where is targeted for malaria elimination in the national program.Methods:Mosquitoes were collected monthly during 2013-2014 using different collection methods.Subsequently,ELISA test was used to detect the human blood index of mosquitoes.The susceptibility status of Anopheles stephensi was evaluated against the diagnostic dosages of seven WHO recommended insecticides.Results:A total of 3 650 female and 4 736 Anopheles larvae were collected including Anopheles stephensi,Anopheles culicifacies s.l.,Anopheles dthali.Anopheles fluviatilis s.l.,Anopheles moghulensis and Anopheles turkhodi species.Anopheles stephensi was the dominant collected species on human baits and indoors with high rate of unfed and gravid specimens in internal and external window traps.Human blood index was calculated as 14.3%for this species.It was also found to be resistant to DDT and Dieldrin.Conclusions:The collected species had a wide range of habitats,and resting behaviors.With regarding to the presence of most important malaria vectors in Jask.control of the disease may be so complicated;as based on the weather condition it can be transmitted during the whole year,except for cold months.With this strong potential of transmission,existing population movements in the area may lead to imported cases of malaria and local outbreak(s).So,more specific studies on malaria vectors in high risk areas of Jask County are recommended. | Masoud Yeryan Hamid Rreza Basseri Ahamd Ali Hanafi-Bojd Ahmad Raeisi Hamideh Edalat Reza Safari | 2016 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2016,9,1: | 2 |
| 12 | Resistance status of main malaria vector, Liston (Diptera:Culicidae) to insecticides in a malaria Endemic Area,Southern Iran显示文摘Objective: To evaluate the susceptibility of Anopheles stephensi(An. stephensi) Liston, the main malaria vector in southern Iran, to WHO recommended insecticides. Methods: Larvae of An. stephensi were collected from three different larval habitats in both urban and rural area of Bandar Abbas city and one rural area in Rudan county southern Iran. WHO standard method was used for evaluation of adult and larval mosquito susceptibility. Bendiocarb, permethrin, lambda-cyhalothrin, deltamethrin as insecticide and temephos and chlorpyriphos as larvicide were used at the diagnostic dosages recommended by WHO. Results: Findings of this study showed all larval populations of An. stephensi were completely susceptible to temephos and candidate for resistance to chlorpyriphos. Adult mosquitoes in rural areas of Bandar Abbas city were resistant to pyrethroid and carbamate insecticides. Conclusion: Comparison of the results of this survey with previous studies indicates that the resistance to pyrethroids and carbamates in this malaria endemic region is increasing. Wide use of pesticides in agriculture is certainly effective in increasing resistance. The current study discusses a way for locating and setting of thyristor controlled series capacitor(TCSC) and static var compensator(SVC) using the multi-objective optimization approach named strength pareto multi-objective evolutionary algorithm(SPMOEA). Maximization of the static voltage stability margin(SVSM) and minimizations of real power losses(RPL) and load voltage deviation(LVD) are taken as the goals or three objective functions, when optimally locating multi-type FACTS devices. The performance and effectiveness of the proposed approach has been validated by the simulation results of the IEEE 30-bus and IEEE 118-bus test systems. The proposed approach is compared with non-dominated sorting particle swarm optimization(NSPSO) algorithm. | 15 | Non-thermal plasma modified growth and differentiation process of Capsicum annuum PP805 Godiva in in vitro conditions显示文摘With the aim of evaluating the possible impacts of cold plasma on the structure and growth pattern of Capsicum annuum, the current study was carried out. The seeds were exposed to an argon-derived plasma(0.84 W cm^(-2) surface power densities) for 0, 1 or 2 minutes. Plasmatreated seeds were grown in the Murashige and Skoog(MS) medium or MS medium supplemented with BA and IAA. The presence of purple stems was recorded in plasma-treated plants grown in the medium supplemented with hormones. The recorded morphological differences were dependent on the exposure time of plasma treatments and/or the presence of hormones in the culture media. Plasma treatment of 1 minute had an improving effect on the shoot and root lengths as well as total leaf area, whereas plasma treatment of 2 minutes had an adverse effect. In contrast to the 1 minute treatment, plasma treatment of 2 minutes significantly impaired growth and hence reduced the total biomass. Alterations in stem diameter and differences in tissue patterns(especially in the vascular system) occurred, and were mainly dependent on the plasma exposure time and/or the presence of hormones.
