Predicting the presence of adenomatous polyps during colonoscopy with National Cancer Institute Colorectal Cancer Risk-Assessment Tool显示文摘AIM To evaluate the National Cancer Institute(NCI)Colorectal Cancer(CRC)Risk Assessment Tool as a predictor for the presence of adenomatous polyps(AP) found during screening or surveillance colonoscopy.METHODS This is a retrospective single center observational study. We collected data of adenomatous polyps in each colonoscopy and then evaluated the lifetime CRC risk.We calculated the AP prevalence across risk score quintiles, odds ratios of the prevalence of AP across risk score quintiles, area under curves(AUCs)and Youden’s indexes to assess the optimal risk score cut off value for AP prevalence status.RESULTS The prevalence of AP gradually increased throughout the five risk score quintiles:i.e.,27.63%in the first and 51.35%in the fifth quintile. The odd ratios of AP prevalence in the fifth quintile compared to the first and second quintile were 2.76[confidence interval(CI):1.71-4.47]and 2.09(CI:1.32-3.30).The AUC for all patients was 0.62(CI:0.58-0.66).Youden’s Index indicated the optimal risk score cutoff value discriminating AP prevalence status was 3.60.CONCLUSION Patients with the higher NCI risk score have higher risk of AP and subsequent CRC;therefore, measures to increase the effectiveness of CRC detection in these patients include longer withdrawal time, early surveillance colonoscopy, and choosing flexible colonoscopy over other CRC screening modalities.Hassan Tariq Muhammad Umar Kamal Harish Patel Ravi Patel Muhammad Ameen Shehi Elona Maram Khalifa Sara Azam Aiyi Zhang Kishore Kumar Ahmed Baiomi Danial Shaikh Jasbir Makker 2018World Journal of Gastroenterology2018,24,34:3
Anticancer activity of Aloe vera and Calligonum comosum extracts separetely on hepatocellular carcinoma cells显示文摘Objective: To investigate the in vitro anticancer effect of Aloe vera(A. vera) and Calligonum comosum(C. comosum) extracts against hepatocellular carcinoma(HepG 2) cells. Methods: Hep G2 cells were tested against different doses of A. vera and C. comosum. Viability of the cells was assessed by MTT assay. Evaluation of apoptosis and DNA damage in HepG 2 cells were performed using annexin V apoptosis detection kit. The expression of p53 and anti-apoptotic(Bcl-2) were tested by real time-PCR and flow cytometer analyser. Hematoxylin and eosin stained sections from untreated and treated HepG 2 cells were observed using light microscopy. Results: The IC50 values of A. vera and C. comosum extracts were(10.45 ± 0.31) and(9.60 ± 0.01) μg/mL respectively. The extracts separately increased cytotoxicity against HepG 2 cells in a time and dose dependent manners. Also, it apparently induced apoptosis through increase P53 and decrease Bcl-2 genes expressions. Conclusions: The results indicated that the extracts could have anti-hepatocarcinogenic effect, at least in part, through modulation of apoptosis.Maram Shalabi Kh.Khilo Mahmoud M.Zakaria Mahmoud G.Elsebaei Walied Abdo Walaa Awadin 2015Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2015,5,5:2
Intrusion Detection Systems in Internet of Things and Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks显示文摘Internet of Things(IoT)devices work mainly in wireless mediums;requiring different Intrusion Detection System(IDS)kind of solutions to leverage 802.11 header information for intrusion detection.Wireless-specific traffic features with high information gain are primarily found in data link layers rather than application layers in wired networks. This survey investigates some of the complexities and challenges in deploying wireless IDS in terms of data collection methods,IDS techniques,IDS placement strategies, and traffic data analysis techniques. This paper’s main finding highlights the lack of available network traces for training modern machine-learning models against IoT specific intrusions.Specifically, the Knowledge Discovery in Databases(KDD)Cup dataset is reviewed to highlight the design challenges of wireless intrusion detection based on current data attributes and proposed several guidelines to future-proof following traffic capture methods in the wireless network(WN).The paper starts with a review of various intrusion detection techniques, data collection methods and placement methods. The main goal of this paper is to study the design challenges of deploying intrusion detection system in a wireless environment.Intrusion detection system deployment in a wireless environment is not as straightforward as in the wired network environment due to the architectural complexities. So this paper reviews the traditional wired intrusion detection deployment methods and discusses how these techniques could be adopted into the wireless environment and also highlights the design challenges in the wireless environment. The main wireless environments to look into would be Wireless Sensor Networks(WSN),Mobile Ad Hoc Networks(MANET)and IoT as this are the future trends and a lot of attacks have been targeted into these networks. So it is very crucial to design an IDS specifically to target on the wireless networks.Vasaki Ponnusamy Mamoona Humayun NZJhanjhi Aun Yichiet Maram Fahhad Almufareh 2022Computer Systems Science & Engineering2022,40,3:2
Solitary rectal ulcer syndrome presenting as polypoid mass lesions in a young girl显示文摘Solitary rectal ulcer syndrome (SRUS) is a rare condition in children. We report a case of SRUS in an 8-year old Saudi girl who presented with recurrent rectal bleeding, intermittent mucosal prolapse, and passage of mucus per rectum. Colonoscopy revealed multiple polypoid mass lesions with histopathological features of SRUS. The polypoid variant of SRUS is very rare in children and may be confused with rectal malignant or inflammatory conditions.Omar I Saadah Maram S Al-Hubayshi Ahmad T Ghanem 2010World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology2010,2,8:2

Click through Rate Effectiveness Prediction on Mobile Ads Using Extreme Gradient Boosting显示文摘Online advertisements have a significant influence over the success or failure of your business. Therefore,it is important to somehow measure the impact of your advertisement before uploading it online, and this is can be done by calculating the Click Through Rate(CTR).Unfortunately, this method is not eco-friendly,since you have to gather the clicks from users then compute the CTR.This is where CTR prediction come in handy.Advertisement CTR prediction relies on the users’log regarding click information data.Accurate prediction of CTR is a challenging and critical process for e-advertising platforms these days.CTR prediction uses machine learning techniques to determine how much the online advertisement has been clicked by a potential client:The more clicks, the more successful the ad is.In this study we develop a machine learning based click through rate prediction model. The proposed study defines a model that generates accurate results with low computational power consumption. We used four classification techniques, namely K Nearest Neighbor(KNN),Logistic Regression,Random Forest, and Extreme Gradient Boosting(XGBoost). The study was performed on the Click-Through Rate Prediction Competition Dataset. It is a click-through data that is ordered chronologically and was collected over 10 days.Experimental results reveal that XGBoost produced ROC-AUC of 0.76 with reduced number of features.AlAli Moneera AlQahtani Maram AlJuried Azizah Taghareed AlOnizan Dalia Alboqaytah Nida Aslam Irfan Ullah Khan 2021Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,2:1

Improved Whale Optimization with Local-Search Method for Feature Selection显示文摘Various feature selection algorithms are usually employed to improve classification models’overall performance.Optimization algorithms typically accompany such algorithms to select the optimal set of features.Among the most currently attractive trends within optimization algorithms are hybrid metaheuristics. The present paper presents two Stages of Local Search models for feature selection based on WOA(Whale Optimization Algorithm)and Great Deluge(GD).GD Algorithm is integrated with the WOA algorithm to improve exploitation by identifying the most promising regions during the search.Another version is employed using the best solution found by the WOA algorithm and exploited by the GD algorithm. In addition, disruptive selection(DS)is employed to select the solutions from the population for local search.DS is chosen to maintain the diversity of the population via enhancing low and high-quality solutions.Fifteen(15)standard benchmark datasets provided by the University of California Irvine(UCI)repository were used in evaluating the proposed approaches’performance.Next,a comparison was made with four population-based algorithms as wrapper feature selection methods from the literature. The proposed techniques have proved their efficiency in enhancing classification accuracy compared to other wrapper methods.Hence, the WOA can search effectively in the feature space and choose the most relevant attributes for classification tasks.Malek Alzaqebah Mutasem KAlsmadi Sana Jawarneh Jehad Saad Alqurni Mohammed Tayfour Ibrahim Almarashdeh Rami Mustafa A.Mohammad Fahad A.Alghamdi Nahier Aldhafferi Abdullah Alqahtani Khalid A.Alissa Bashar A.Aldeeb Usama A.Badawi Maram Alwohaibi Hayat Alfagham 2023Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,4:1
