| 2 | Biometric and ICL-related risk factors associated to sub-optimal vaults in eyes implanted with implantable collamer lenses显示文摘Background:To identify biometric and implantable collamer lens(ICL)-related risk factors associated with suboptimal postoperative vault in eyes implanted with phakic ICL.Methods:This study reports a retrospective case series of the first operated eye in 360 patients implanted with myopic spherical or toric ICL.Preoperatively,white-to-white(WTW),central keratometry(Kc)and central corneal thickness(CCT)were measured using the Pentacam.Anterior-segment optical coherence tomography(AS-OCT,Visante)was applied preoperatively for measuring the horizontal anterior-chamber angle-to-angle distance(ATA),internal anterior chamber depth(ACD),crystalline lens rise(CLR),anterior-chamber angle(ACA)and postoperatively the vault.Eyes were divided into three vault groups:low(LVG:≤250μm),optimal(OVG:>250 and<1000μm)and high(HVG:≥1000μm).Multinomial logistic regression(MLR)was used to find the sub-optimal vault predictors.Results:MLR showed that CLR,ICL size minus the ATA(ICL size-ATA),age,ICL spherical equivalent(ICLSE)and ICL size as contributing factors for sub-optimal vaults(pseudo-R2=0.40).Increased CLR(OR:1.01,CI:1.00-1.01)and less myopic ICLSE(OR:1.22,CI:1.07-1.40)were risk factors for low vaults.Larger ICL size-ATA(OR:41.29,CI:10.57-161.22)and the 13.7mm ICL(OR:7.08,CI:3.16-15.89)were risk factors for high vaults,whereas less myopic ICLSE(OR:0.85,CI:0.76-0.95)and older age(OR:0.92,CI:0.88-0.98)were protective factors.Conclusion:High CLR and low ICLSE were the major risk factors in eyes presenting low vaults.In the opposite direction,ICL size-ATA was the major contributor for high vaults.This relationship was more critical in higher myopic ICLSE,younger eyes and when 13.7mm ICL were used.The findings show that factors influencing the vault have differentiated weight of influence depending on the type of vault(low,optimal or high). | Santiago Cerpa Manito Angel Sánchez Trancón Oscar Torrado Sierra António Manuel Baptista Pedro Miguel Serra | 2021 | Eye and Vision2021,8,1: | 5 |

| 8 | State of Art and Knowledge of Urban Forestry in the Philippines显示文摘Urban forestry is an emerging science and art in the field of resource management in the Philippines.The concepts and principles are quite similar with traditional forestry being both resource managementstrategies. As a science and art, urban forestry needs to be assessed as to its present status. Hence, in thispaper, I presented a brief historical background about urban forestry in the Philippines including the previousand present efforts, policies and programs related to urban forestry and the extent of their implementation.I also included the result of my assessment about the initiatives and capabilities of the local agenciesspecifically the local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila on urban forestry. I also included the statusof urban forestry research including the research gaps that need to be addressed. | 12 | Twelve-month efficacy and safety of the conversion to everolimus in maintenance heart transplant recipients显示文摘AIM: To determine the clinical reasons for conversion to everolimus(EVL) and long-term outcomes in heart transplant(HT) recipients.METHODS: A retrospective 12-mo study has been carried out in 14 Spanish centres to assess the efficacy and safety of conversion to EVL in maintenance HT recipients.RESULTS: Two hundred and twenty-two patients were included(mean age: 53 ± 10.5 years; mean time from HT: 8.1 ± 4.5 years). The most common reasons for conversion were nephrotoxicity(30%), chronic allograft vasculopathy(20%) and neoplasms(17%). The doses and mean levels of EVL at baseline(conversion to EVL) and after one year were 1.3 ± 0.3 and 1.2 ± 0.6 mg/d and 6.4 ± 3.4 and 5.6 ± 2.5 ng/mL, respectively. The percentage of patients receiving calcineurin inhibitors(CNIs) at baseline and on the final visit was 95% and 65%, respectively. The doses and mean levels of CNIs decreased between baseline and month 12 from 142.2 ± 51.6 to 98.0 ± 39.4 mg/d(P < 0.001) and from 126.1 ± 50.9 to 89.2 ± 47.7 ng/mL(P < 0.001), respectively, for cyclosporine, and from 2.9 ± 1.8 to 2.6 ± 1.9 mg/d and from 8.3 ± 4.0 to 6.5 ± 2.7 ng/mL(P = 0.011) for tacrolimus. In the subgroup of patients converted because of nephrotoxicity, creatinine clearance increased from 34.9 ± 10.1 to 40.4 ± 14.4 mL/min(P < 0.001). There were 37 episodes of acute rejection in 24 patients(11%). The most frequent adverse events were oedemas(12%), infections(9%) and gastrointestinal problems(6%). EVL was suspended in 44 patients(20%).
