| 3 | Effect of substitution of Si by Al on the microstructure and mechanical properties of bainitic transformation-induced plasticity steels显示文摘The effect of partial or full substitution of Si by Al on the microstructure and mechanical properties has been extensively studied in multi-phase transformation-induced plasticity(TRIP) steels with polygonal ferrite matrix, but rarely studied in bainitic TRIP steels. The aim of the present study is to properly investigate the effect of Al and Si on bainite transformation, microstructure and mechanical properties in bainitic steels in order to provide guidelines for the alloying design as a function of process parameters for the 3 rd generation advanced high strength steels(AHSS). It is shown from the dilatometry study,microstructural investigations and tensile properties measurements that the Al addition results in an acceleration whereas Si addition leads to a retardation in bainite transformation kinetics. The addition of Al retards the decomposition of austenite into pearlite and carbides at holding temperatures higher than450℃ whereas Si retards the decomposition of austenite into carbides at temperatures lower than 450℃.Consequently, the Al-added bainitic steel has a better strength-elongation combination at bainitic holding temperatures higher than 450℃ while Si-added steel has a better strength-elongation combination at temperatures lower than 450℃. The higher yield strength of Al-added steel is mainly attributed to its finer bainitic lath. | 6 | Response of nephelometric turbidity to hydrodynamic particle size of fine suspended sediment显示文摘Turbidity is used as a surrogate for suspended sediment concentration(SSC),and as a regulatory tool for indicating land use disturbance and environmental protection.Turbidity relates linearly to suspended material,however,can show non-linear responses to particulate organic matter(POM),concomitant with changes in particle size distribution(PSD).In the paper the influence of ultra-fine particulate matter(UFPM)on specific turbidity and its association with POM in suspended sediment are shown for alpine rivers in the Southern Alps of New Zealand.The approach was two-fold:a field-based investigation of the relations between SSC,POM,and turbidity sampled during event flow;and experimental work on hydrodynamic particle size effects on SSC,POM,PSD,and turbidity.Specific turbidity changes over event flow and are sensitive to increasing proportional amounts of sand,UFPM,and POM in suspension.Furthermore,the UFPM is the size fraction(<6 mm)where POM increases.The implications of the current study are that the slopes of turbidity-SSC relations are undesirable in locations that may be dominated by cyclic release of POM or distinct pulses of fine-grained material.At locations where the turbidity-SSC slopes approximate 2,the POM proportion is usually<10%of the total suspended load.However,when turbidity-SSC slopes are<1 this is likely caused by high amounts of side-scatter from UFPM concomitant with higher proportions of POM.Thus,the use of turbidity as a proxy for determining SSC may have serious consequences for the measurement of representative suspended sediment data,particularly in locations where POM may be a significant contributor to overall suspended load. | Christina Bright Sarah Mager Sophie Horton | 2020 | International Journal of Sediment Research2020,35,5: | 3 |
| 7 | Pyrolysis-induced shrinking of threedimensional structures fabricated by twophoton polymerization:experiment and theoretical model显示文摘The introduction of two-photon polymerization(TPP)into the area of Carbon Micro Electromechanical Systems(CMEMS)has enabled the fabrication of three-dimensional glassy carbon nanostructures with geometries previously unattainable through conventional UV lithography.Pyrolysis of TPP structures conveys a characteristic reduction of feature size—one that should be properly estimated in order to produce carbon microdevices with accuracy.In this work,we studied the volumetric shrinkage of TPP-derived microwires upon pyrolysis at 900℃.Through this process,photoresist microwires thermally decompose and shrink by as much as 75%,resulting in glassy carbon nanowires with linewidths between 300 and 550 nm.Even after the thermal decomposition induced by the pyrolysis step,the linewidth of the carbon nanowires was found to be dependent on the TPP exposure parameters.We have also found that the thermal stress induced during the pyrolysis step not only results in axial elongation of the nanowires,but also in buckling in the case of slender carbon nanowires(for aspect ratios greater than 30).Furthermore,we show that the calculated residual mass fraction that remains after pyrolysis depends on the characteristic dimensions of the photoresist microwires,a trend that is consistent with several works found in the literature.This phenomenon is explained through a semi-empirical model that estimates the feature size of the carbon structures,serving as a simple guideline for shrinkage evaluation in other designs. | Braulio Cardenas-Benitez Carsten Eschenbaum Dario Mager Jan G.Korvink Marc JMadou Uli Lemmer Israel De Leon Sergio O.Martinez-Chapa | 2019 | Microsystems & Nanoengineering2019,5,1: | 2 |
