| 1 | Constrained coordinated distributed control of smart grid with asynchronous information exchange显示文摘Smart grid constrained optimal control is a complex issue due to the constant growth of grid complexity and the large volume of data available as input to smart device control.In this context,traditional centralized control paradigms may suffer in terms of the timeliness of optimization results due to the volume of data to be processed and the delayed asynchronous nature of the data transmission.To address these limits of centralized control,this paper presents a coordinated,distributed algorithm based on distributed,local controllers and a central coordinator for exchanging summarized global state information.The proposed model for exchanging global state information is resistant to fluctuations caused by the inherent interdependence between local controllers,and is robust to delays in information exchange.In addition,the algorithm features iterative refinement of local state estimations that is able to improve local controller ability to operate within network constraints.Application of the proposed coordinated,distributed algorithm through simulation shows its effectiveness in optimizing a global goal within a complex distribution system operating under constraints,while ensuring network operation stability under varying levels of information exchange delay,and with a range of network sizes. | Benjamin MILLAR Danchi JIANG Md.Enamul HAQUE | 2015 | Journal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy2015,3,4: | 7 |
| 2 | Mitochondrial Composition,Function and Stress Response in Plants显示文摘The primary function of mitochondria is respiration,where catabolism of substrates is coupled to ATP synthesis via oxidative phosphorylation.In plants,mitochondrial composition is relatively complex and flexible and has specific pathways to support photosynthetic processes in illuminated leaves.This review begins with outlining current models of mitochondrial composition in plant cells,with an emphasis upon the assembly of the complexes of the classical electron transport chain (ETC).Next,we focus upon the comparative analysis of mitochondrial function from different tissue types.A prominent theme in the plant mitochondrial literature involves linking mitochondrial composition to environmental stressresponses,and this review then gives a detailed outline of how oxidative stress impacts upon the plant mitochondrial proteome with particular attention to the role of transition metals.This is followed by an analysis of the signaling capacity of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species,which studies the transcriptional changes of stress responsive genes as a framework to define specific signals emanating from the mitochondrion.Finally,specific mitochondrial roles during exposure to harsh environments are outlined,with attention paid to mitochondrial delivery of energy and intermediates,mitochondrial support for photosynthesis,and mitochondrial processes operating within root cells that mediate tolerance to anoxia and unfavorable soil chemistries. | Richard P. | 6 | Human immunodeficiency virus-related primary central nervous system lymphoma: factors influencing survival in 111 patients显示文摘BACKGROUND: The current study evaluated factors influencing survival in patients diagnosed with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-related primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL), with a focus on the effects of therapeutic radiotherapy (RT) and highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART). METHODS: A retrospective chart review of patients with a diagnosis of HIV-related PCNSL at one of five university hospitals between 1987 and 1998 was performed. Clinical details including antiretroviral agent use, brain imaging scan results, RT use, and survival outcomes were recorded. RESULTS: One hundred eleven patients with HIV-related PCNSL were identified. | 13 | Deep mine cooling, a case for Northern Ontario:Part Ⅱ显示文摘Cooling energy needs, for mines in Northern Ontario, are mainly driven by the mining cooling technologies available and the cost to implement them in a 2500 m deep underground mine. The cooling technologies reviewed herein include mechanical and natural cooling systems, ranging from mechanical chillers to seasonal thermal storages. The economic and operating parameters for each technology were estimated and evaluated according to the mine's energy loads. Including consideration of any combined heat and power benefits of the technology, cooling tower requirements, etc., the resulting cost of implementation for each technology could be ranked. This showed that the natural thermal storage systems and conventional chillers were the most cost-effective, mainly since the natural systems had very low operating cost and the chillers had relatively low capital costs. | Trapani K.
