| 2 | GIS-based Effect Assessment of Soil Erosion Before and After Gully Land Consolidation: A Case Study of Wangjiagou Project Region, Loess Plateau显示文摘The Loess Plateau is one typical area of serious soil erosion in the world. China has implemented ′Grain for Green′(GFG) project to restore the eco-environment of the Loess Plateau since 1999. With the GFG project subsidy approaching the end, it is concerned that farmers of fewer subsidies may reclaim land again. Thus, ′Gully Land Consolidation Project′(GLCP) was initiated in 2010. The core of the GLCP was to create more land suitable for farming in gullies so as to reduce land reclamation on the slopes which are ecological vulnerable areas. This paper aims to assess the effect of the GLCP on soil erosion problems by studying Wangjiagou project region located in the central part of Anzi valley in the middle of the Loess Plateau, mainly using the revised universal soil loss equation(RUSLE) based on GIS. The findings show that the GLCP can help to reduce soil shipment by 9.87% and it creates more terraces and river-nearby land suitable for farming which account for 27.41% of the whole study area. Thus, it is feasible to implement the GLCP in places below gradient 15°, though the GLCP also intensifies soil erosion in certain places such as field ridge, village land, floodplain, natural grassland, and shrub land. In short, the GLCP develops new generation dam land and balances the short-term and long-term interests to ease the conflicts between economic development and environmental protection. Furthermore, the GLCP and the GFG could also be combined preferably. | 6 | Industrial development and land use/cover change and their effects on local environment:a case study of Changshu in eastern coastal China显示文摘The interactions among industrial development,land use/cover change (LUCC), and environmentaleffects in Changshu in the eastern coastal China wereanalyzed using high-resolution Landsat TM data in 1990,1995, 2000, and 2006, socio-economic data and waterenvironmental quality monitoring data from researchinstitutes and governmental departments. Three phases ofindustrial development in Changshu were examined (i.e.,the three periods of 1990 to 1995, 1995 to 2000, and 2000to 2006). Besides industrial development and rapidurbanization, land use/cover in Changshu had changeddrastically from 1990 to 2006. This change was characterizedby major replacements of farmland by urban and ruralsettlements, artificial ponds, forested and constructed land.Industrialization, urbanization, agricultural structureadjustment, and rural housing construction were themajor socio-economic driving forces of LUCC inChangshu. In addition, the annual value of ecosystemservices in Changshu decreased slightly during 1990-2000, but increased significantly during 2000-2006.Nevertheless, the local environmental quality in Changshu,especially in rural areas, has not yet been improvedsignificantly. | 9 | Enzymatic and chemical mapping of nucleosome distribution in purified micro- and macronuclei of the ciliated model organism, Tetrahymenathermophila显示文摘Genomic distribution of the nucleosome, the basic unit of chromatin, contains important epigenetic information. To map nucleosome distribution in structurally and functionally differentiated micronucleus(MIC) and macronucleus(MAC) of the ciliate Tetrahymena thermophila, we have purified MIC and MAC and performed micrococcal nuclease(MNase) digestion as well as hydroxyl radical cleavage. Different factors that may affect MNase digestion were examined, to optimize mono-nucleosome production. Mono-nucleosome purity was further improved by ultracentrifugation in a sucrose gradient. As MNase concentration increased, nucleosomal DNA sizes in MIC and MAC converged on 147 bp, as expected for the nucleosome core particle. Both MNase digestion and hydroxyl radical cleavage consistently showed a nucleosome repeat length of^200 bp in MAC of Tetrahymena, supporting ~50 bp of linker DNA. | 11 | Biogenic carbonate formation and sedimentation in the Xisha Islands: evidences from living Halimeda显示文摘A recent island survey reveals that the Xuande Atoll and the Yongle Atoll in the Xisha Islands can be classified into one of two systems: the depleted atoll system and growth atoll system; the survey also indicates that the decreased area of several shoals is an unbearable burden for the Xisha Islands, of which the largest island area is 2.13 km2 and the minimum elevation is 1.4 m. According to a survey on the ecological characteristics of Halimeda in the Laolongtou breaker zone of Shidao Island in the Xisha Islands, the green and white living Halimeda are collected,the isotopic ages of 14 C contained in the Halimeda are shown to be 27 years and 55 years, respectively, and carbonate mainly occurs in five types, i.e., luster, segment, sand, sand grain, and marl in the formation. The Halimeda segments mainly provide the carbonate sediments of long-term biogenic deposits in the reef environment and the annual productivity per area is 60–100 g/m2; the characteristics of the microstructure of the Halimeda are analyzed, the aragonite raphide carbonate is deposited and enriched in the cortexes, medullas and cysts, and the Halimeda generally contain major elements such as C, O, Ca, Cl, Mg, K, Na, S and Al, and are rich in trace elements such as tellurium(Te), rhodium(Rh) and strontium. It is believed that the Halimeda grow slowly,including the biotic community of reef corals in the reef areas, thus they possess an environmental remediation capacity, but it takes much time to remedy the environment, and it is necessary to make the law to protect the diversity and vulnerability of the Xisha marine ecology, the ecology of the reef community and the island environment in a scientific way. As indicated in the survey, under the background of global warming and sea-level rise, the discovery of large amounts of Halimeda in the Laolongtou sea area is significant for the natural increase of the depleted atoll system of the Xuande Atoll, while the Halimeda segments represent the primary form of the fossil Halimeda, of which the species can be identified and preserved in great numbers under geological conditions. The Miocene was discovered in large amounts in the Xichen-1 well, therefore the study on the characteristics and mechanism of Halimeda carbonate sediments plays a pivotal role in the formation and construction of organic reefs in the South China Sea as well as oil and gas exploration. | XU Hong ZHAO Xinwei EBERLI G.P. | 15 | Exploration Strategies for Complex Fault Block Reservoirs in the Subei Basin显示文摘The geological background of the Subei basin is that of small relief subsidence,low geothermal gradient, multi-sedimentary hiatuses,intense reconstruction of the basin,frequent magmatic activity,and a unique combination of source rock and reservoir.This geological background resulted in characteristics such as many small fault blocks, multiple oil-bearing formations,scattered oil distribution,mini-to small-sized reservoirs,and difficulties in exploration. | 16 | Comparison of six generalized linear models for occurrence of lightning-induced fires in northern Daxing'an Mountains,China显示文摘The occurrence of lightning-induced forest fires during a time period is count data featuring over-dispersion(i.e., variance is larger than mean) and a high frequency of zero counts. In this study, we used six generalized linear models to examine the relationship between the occurrence of lightning-induced forest fires and meteorological factors in the Northern Daxing'an Mountains of China. The six models included Poisson, negative binomial(NB), zeroinflated Poisson(ZIP), zero-inflated negative binomial(ZINB), Poisson hurdle(PH), and negative binomial hurdle(NBH) models. Goodness-of-fit was compared and tested among the six models using Akaike information criterion(AIC), sum of squared errors, likelihood ratio test, and Vuong test. The predictive performance of the models wasassessed and compared using independent validation data by the data-splitting method. Based on the model AIC, the ZINB model best fitted the fire occurrence data, followed by(in order of smaller AIC) NBH, ZIP, NB, PH, and Poisson models. The ZINB model was also best for predicting either zero counts or positive counts(C1). The two Hurdle models(PH and NBH) were better than ZIP,Poisson, and NB models for predicting positive counts, but worse than these three models for predicting zero counts.Thus, the ZINB model was the first choice for modeling the occurrence of lightning-induced forest fires in this study,which implied that the excessive zero counts of lightninginduced fires came from both structure and sampling zeros. | Futao Guo Guangyu Wang John L. | 18 | Characteristics of porosity and permeability layer of fossil Halimeda reef mineral rock of Miocene in the Xisha Islands and its genetic model显示文摘Halimeda is one of the major reef-building algas in the middle Miocene of Xisha, and one of the significant reefbuilding algas in the algal reef oil and gas field of the South China Sea. However, there have been few reports regarding the characteristics of mineral rocks, reservoir porosity and permeability layers, and sedimentationdiagenetic-evolution of fossil Halimeda systems. The present paper briefly introduces the relevant studies on chlorophyta Halimeda and the research status of oil and gas exploration. Through the 1 043 m core of the Xichen-1 well, we studied the characteristics of the mineral rocks and porosity and permeability of the middle Miocene Halimeda of the Yongle Atoll, identified and described the segments of fossil Halimeda, and pointed out that most of the segment slides are vertical sections in ovular, irregular or long strips. The overwhelming majority of these fossil Halimeda found and studied are vertical sections instead of cross sections. In this paper, knowledge regarding the cross sections of fossil Halimeda is reported and proven to be similar with the microscopic characteristics of modern living Halimeda; fossil Halimeda are buried in superposition; it is shown that there are different structures present, including typical bio-segment structure, and due to its feature of coexisting with red alga, tying structure, twining structure and encrusting structure are all present; and finally, it is suggested to classify the fossil Halimeda into segment algal reef dolomites. In addition, all of the studied intervals are moderately dolomitized. Secondary microcrystalline-dolosparite dominates the original aragonite raphide zones,and aphanitic-micrite dolomite plays the leading role in the cortexes and medullas; in the aragonite raphide zones between medulla and cysts, secondary dissolved pores and intercrystalline pores are formed inside the segments, and algal frame holes are formed between segments; therefore, a pore space network system(dissolved pores + intragranular dissolved pores—intercrystalline pores + algal frame holes) is established. Segment Halimeda dolomite has a porosity of 16.2%–46.1%, a permeability of 0.203×10–3–2 641×10–3 μm2, and a throatradius of 23.42–90.43 μm, therefore it is shown to be a good oil and gas reservoir. For the reasons mentioned above, we suggest building the neogene organic reef-modern reef sedimentation-diagenetic-evolution models for the Xisha Islands. | XU Hong ZHU Yurui EBERLI G.P. | 20 | Controlled Growth Interface of Charge Transfer Salts of Nickel- 7,7,8,8-Tetracyanoquinodimethane on Surface of Graphdiyne显示文摘Here we report an in situ assembly growth method that controls the growth of NiTCNQ on the surface of graphdiyne(GDY).The catalytic system of donor–acceptor–donor(GDY/TCNQ/Ni)structure with multiple charge transfer(CT)was achieved by controlling the growth of NiTCNQ on the surface of GDY.Significantly,a controlled double layer interface of GDY/TCNQ/Ni was formed.This system implemented simultaneously the two elements we expected(1)an incomplete CT,and(2)the infinite distribution of active sites originating from highly asymmetric surface charge distribution.The high conductivity and typical semiconductor characteristics of the catalyst endows it with high catalytic activity.We found that an electrolytic cell consisting of the CT salt as a catalyst provided a 1.40 V ultra-small cell voltage up to 10 mA cm−2 and the outer GDY film effectively prevented the corrosion of the catalyst.Our study is the first to introduce CT complexes to a novel catalytic material platform for high selectivity of catalysts,and undoubtedly demonstrates the high selectivity,stability,and activity of such catalytic systems,which provides a new space for the development of novel conceptual catalysts. | Yuxin Liu Yang Gao Feng He Yurui Xue Yuliang Li | 2023 | CCS Chemistry2023,5,4: | 1 |
