| 1 | GS6, A Member of the GRAS Gene Family,Negatively Regulates Grain Size in Rice显示文摘Grain size is an important yield related trait in rice.Intensive arti cial selection for grain size during domestication is evidenced by the larger grains of most of today’s cultivars compared with their wild relatives.However,the molecular genetic control of rice grain size is still not well characterized.Here,we report the identi cation and cloning of Grain Size 6(GS6),which plays an important role in reducing grain size in rice.A premature stop at the t348 position in the coding sequence(CDS)of GS6 increased grain width and weight signi cantly.Alignment of the CDS regions of GS6 in 90 rice materials revealed three GS6alleles.Most japonica varieties(95%)harbor the Type I haplotype,and 62.9%of indica varieties harbor the Type II haplotype.Association analysis revealed that the Type I haplotype tends to increase the width and weight of grains more than either of the Type II or Type III haplotypes.Further investigation of genetic diversity and the evolutionary mechanisms of GS6showed that the GS6gene was strongly selected in japonica cultivars.In addition,a'ggc'repeat region identi ed in the region that encodes the GRAS domain of GS6 played an important historic role in the domestication of grain size in rice.Knowledge of the function of GS6might aid efforts to elucidate the molecular mechanisms that control grain development and evolution in rice plants,and could facilitate the genetic improvement of rice yield. | Lianjun Sun Xiaojiao Li Yongcai Fu Zuofeng Zhu Lubin Tan Fengxia Liu Xianyou Sun Xuewen Sun Chuanqing Sun | 2013 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2013,55,10: | 44 |

| 6 | NARROW AND ROLLED LEAF 2 regulates leaf shape,male fertility, and seed size in rice显示文摘Grain yield in rice(Oryza sativa L.) is closely related to leaf and flower development. Coordinative regulation of leaf, pollen, and seed development in rice as a critical biological and agricultural question should be addressed. Here we identified two allelic rice mutants with narrow and semirolled leaves, named narrow and rolled leaf 2-1(nrl2-1) and nrl2-2. Map-based molecular cloning revealed that NRL2 encodes a novel protein with unknown biochemical function. The mutation of NRL2 caused pleiotropic effects, including a reduction in the number of longitudinal veins, defective abaxial sclerenchymatous cell differentiation, abnormal tapetum degeneration and microspore development, and the formation of more slender seeds compared with the wild type(WT). The NRL2 protein interacted with Rolling-leaf(RL14),causing the leaves of the nrl2 mutants to have a highercellulose content and lower lignin content than the WT, which may have been related to sclerenchymatous cell differentiation and tapetum degeneration. | 10 | Clinical characteristics and effectiveness of antiviral agents in hospitalized children with infectious mononucleosis in China:A multicenter retrospective study显示文摘Importance:The clinical characteristics of infectious mononucleosis(IM)in Chinese children have not been evaluated in multicenter studies,and the effectiveness of antiviral treatment are controversial.Objective:To investigate the clinical characteristics of Chinese children with IM and current status of antiviral therapy for affected patients.Methods:Hospitalized patients with IM were enrolled between 2018 and 2020 in five children’s hospitals in China.The clinical characteristics were compared among four age groups:<3 years,3-<6 years,6-<10 years,and≥10 years.The clinical characteristics of IM and effectiveness of antiviral therapy were compared among patients receiving acyclovir(ACV),ganciclovir(GCV),and no antiviral therapy(i.e.,non-antiviral group).Results:In total,499 patients were analyzed;most patients were 3-<6 years of age.The most common symptoms and signs included fever(100%),lymphadenopathy(98.6%),pharyngitis(86.4%),eyelid edema(76.8%),and snoring(72.9%).There were significant differences in rash,hepatomegaly,and liver dysfunction among the four age groups.Patients aged<3 years had a lower incidence of liver dysfunction and a higher incidence of rash.Among the 499 patients,50.1%were treated with GCV,26.3%were treated with ACV,and 23.6%received no antiviral therapy.Compared with the non-antiviral group,patients in the ACV and GCV groups had longer durations of fever(P<0.001).There were no significant differences in the incidences of complications among the three treatment groups.Interpretation:The incidence of IM in Chinese children peaked at 3-<6 years of age.Clinical features of IM varied according to age.Patients receiving antiviral therapy exhibited more serious clinical manifestations than did patients without antiviral therapy.The effectiveness of antiviral therapy for IM requires further analysis. | Huili Hu Huiling Deng Jing Bi Yi Xu Shuangjie Li Yue Xie Xinrong Sun Dongmeng Wang Xufang Li Wenxian Ouyang Bing Hu Yufeng Zhang He Tang Chunxiao Fang Hui Zhang Lingyun Guo Chen Wang Tianyi Wang Fengxia Yang Tao Jiang Zhengde Xie Gang Liu | 2021 | Pediatric Investigation2021,5,3: | 12 |

Moreover, successive inverse and normal MCEs are observed around the first-order AFM-FM MST and the second-order FM-paramagnetic(PM) transition, respectively. A thermostat is proposed based on this special feature, which could release heat above the critical temperature while absorb heat below the critical temperature by simply applying the same magnetization/demagnetization cycles. | 16 | An analytical biomarker for treatment of patients with recurrent B-ALL after remission induced by infusion of anti-CD19 chimeric antigen receptor T(CAR-T) cells显示文摘Anti-CD19 chimeric antigen receptor-modified T(CAR-T-19) cells have emerged as a powerful targeted immunotherapy for B-cell lineage acute lymphoblastic leukemia with a remarkable clinical response in recent trials. Nonetheless, few data are available on the subsequent clinical monitoring and treatment of the patients, especially those with disease recurrence after CAR-T-19 cell infusion. Here, we analyzed three patients who survived after our phase I clinical trial and who were studied by means of biomarkers reflecting persistence of CAR-T-19 cells in vivo and predictive factors directing further treatment. One patient achieved 9-week sustained complete remission and subsequently received an allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant. Another patient who showed relapse after 20 weeks without detectable leukemia in the cerebrospinal fluid after CAR-T-19 cell treatment was able to achieve a morphological remission under the influence of stand-alone low-dose chemotherapeutic agents. The third patient gradually developed extensive extramedullary involvement in tissues with scarce immune-cell infiltration during a long period of hematopoietic remission after CAR-T-19 cell therapy. Long-term and discontinuous increases in serum cytokines(mainly interleukin 6 and C-reactive protein) were identified in two patients(Nos. 1 and 6) even though only a low copy number of CAR molecules could be detected in their peripheral blood. This finding was suggestive of persistent functional activity of CAR-T-19 cells. | 17 | Estrogen and insulin synergistically promote endometrial cancer progression via crosstalk between their receptor signaling pathways显示文摘Objective: Despite evidence that estrogens and insulin are involved in the development and progression of many cancers, their synergistic role in endometrial carcinoma(EC) has not been analyzed yet.Methods: Here, we investigated how estrogens act synergistically with insulin to promote EC progression. Cell growth in vitro and in vivo, effects of estradiol and insulin on apoptosis and cell cycle distribution, and expression and activation of estrogen receptor(ER), insulin receptor(InsR), and key proteins in the PI3K and MAPK pathways were examined after combined stimulation with estradiol and insulin.Results: Compared to EC cells treated with estradiol or insulin alone, those treated with both estradiol and insulin exhibited stronger stimulation. Estradiol significantly induced phosphorylation of InsR-β and IRS-1, whereas insulin significantly induced phosphorylation of ER-α. In addition, treatment with both insulin and estradiol together significantly increased the expression and phosphorylation of Akt, MAPK, and ERK. Notably, InsR-β inhibition had a limited effect on estradiol-dependent proliferation,cell cycle, and apoptosis, whereas ER-α inhibition had a limited insulin-dependent effect, in EC cell lines. | 18 | miR-506: a regulator of chemo-sensitivity through suppression of the RAD51-homologous recombination axis显示文摘Ovarian carcinoma is the most lethal gynecologic malignancy. Resistance to platinum is considered the major problem afecting prognosis. Our recent study established that micro RNA-506(mi R-506) expression was closely associated with progression-free survival and overall survival in two independent patient cohorts totaling 598 epithelial ovarian cancer cases. Further functional study demonstrated that mi R-506 could augment the response to cisplatin and olaparib through targeting RAD51 and suppressing homologous recombination in a panel of ovarian cancer cell lines. Systemic delivery of mi R-506 in an orthotopic ovarian cancer mouse model signiicantly augmented the cisplatin response, thus recapitulating the clinical observation. | 19 | Relationship between Lightning Activity and Tropospheric Nitrogen Dioxide and the Estimation of Lightning-produced Nitrogen Oxides over China显示文摘To better understand the relationship between lightning activity and nitrogen oxides(NOX) in the troposphere and to estimate lightning-produced NOX(LNOX) production in China more precisely, spatial and temporal distributions of vertical column densities of tropospheric nitrogen dioxide(NO_2VCDs) and lightning activity were analyzed using satellite measurements. The results showed that the spatial distribution of lightning activity is greater in the east than in the west of China, as with NO_2 VCDs. However, the seasonal and annual variation between lightning and NO_2 density show different trends in the east and west. The central Tibetan Plateau is sparsely populated without modern industry, and NO_2 VCDs across the plateau are barely affected by anthropogenic sources. The plateau is an ideal area to study LNOX. By analyzing 15 years of satellite data from that region, it was found that lightning density is in strong agreement with annual, spatial and seasonal variations of NO_2 VCDs, with a correlation coefficient of 0.79 from the linear fit. | 20 | Effects of IBA on the rooting of branch cuttings of Chinese jujube (Zizyphus jujuba Mill.) and changes to nutrients and endogenous hormones显示文摘‘Zhongqiusucui’ jujube secondary shoots were treated with 3-indolebutyric acid(IBA) at three concentrations, 500, 1000 and 1500 mg/L. Results show that IBA could significantly enhance rooting and root characteristics of cuttings and were best with IBA at 1500 mg/L. In the rooting process, the formation of adventitious roots was related to the consumption and accumulation of nutrients(soluble sugars and proteins) and the changes in endogenous hormones in phloem, leaf tips and leaf bases. The rooting of cuttings had a positive correlation with the consumption of soluble sugars during the period of callus formation and with the accumulation of soluble sugars during adventitious root formation and growth. Rooting was positively related to the breakdown of soluble proteins in the phloem when the callus formed, and had a positive correlation with its accumulation during adventitious root formation and growth. Leaf tips and leaf bases showed a reverse trend in changes of soluble protein. However, together with the phloem, leaf tips and leaf bases regulated and controlled the formation and development of adventitious roots. The main activities of soluble proteins exist in the leaf tips as this was the main source of soluble proteins. The relation between rooting and IAA(indole-3-acetic acid) content in phloem was positive and thus a high concentration of IAA could benefit the induction and formation of adventitious roots. However, rooting was negatively related with ABA(abscisic acid) and GA(gibberellic acid) and a high concentration of both could inhibit the induction and formation of adventitious roots. Rooting had a positive correlation with phloem IAA/ABA ratios, and higher ratios could improve rooting. Low concentrations of ZR(zeatin riboside) triggered the induction of adventitious roots, while higher concentrations promoted root growth.Endogenous hormones in leaf tips and bases had an impact on rooting. The activities of endogenous hormones mainly existed in leaf tips because they play a major role in the production and consumption of IAA and its ABA content increased during rooting. The ZR in leaf tips influenced the rooting of cuttings, especially in the callus formation and rooting stage.
