| 2 | Clinical Predictors for Diagnosing Pandemic (H1N1) 2009 and Seasonal Influenza (H3N2) in Fever Clinics in Beijing,China显示文摘Objective Symptomatic predictors of influenza could assess risks and improve decisions about isolation and outpatient treatment. To develop such predictors,we undertook a prospective analysis of pandemic (H1N1) 2009 and seasonal influenza (H3N2) in patients attending fever clinics. Methods From 1 May 2009 to 1 January 2010,all adult patients admitted to fever clinics for suspected influenza, confirmed by real time RT-PCR,were enrolled.Predictors of influenza virus infection were selected with logistic regression models.Measures of sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative likelihood ratios (LRs) were calculated to identify the best predictors. Results The clinical features and routine blood test results of influenza (H1N1) 2009 and seasonal influenza were similar. The positive and negative LRs of current US CDC influenza-like illness (ILI) criteria were modest in predicting influenza infection. Our modified clinic predictors improved the ability of the positive and negative LRs to recognize pandemic (H1N1) 2009 and seasonal influenza. The revised criteria are:fever ≥38℃ accompanied by at least one of the following—cough, arthralgia or relative lymphopenia. Conclusion Patients with symptoms and signs that meet the new criteria are likely to have influenza and timely antiviral therapy may be appropriate. In addition, physicians should ascertain if influenza is circulating within the community or if there is a contact history of influenza and combine this information with the newly developed criteria to clinically diagnose influenza. | DAI Xiao Qiu LIU Min ZHANG Tuo Hong YANG Xue Song LI Song Lin LI Xiao Guang LI Yu Ling KADEERBAI Hai San WU Huang | 2012 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2012,25,1: | 2 |

| 4 | The correlated study of hyperuricemia and metabolicsyndromes among males of Han ethnicity in the Xinjiang UygurAutonomous Region,China显示文摘This study investigates the relationship between hyperuricemia and metabolic syndrome(MS)among males of Han ethnicity in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region,China. The blood samples were collected from January to May,2006 in Urumqi. It included 1496 subjects with ages between 20 to 70 years. All these subjects had physical examinations, blood pressure(BP)measurement and analysis for serum uric acid(SUA),fasting blood sugar(FBS),serum triglycer-ide(TG),serum total cholesterol(TC),serum high den-sity lipoprotein(HDL-C)and serum low density lipoprotein(LDL-C)as well as biochemistry assay. The Data were analyzed using the Pearson Chi-Square Test,Independent-Samples T-Test and the Mantel-Haenszel Test for linear trend, respectively. The results show that the prevalence of MS in the present study was 18%.Blood pressure, fasting blood sugar, body mass index(BMI),waist/hip ratio(WHR),TG,TC and LDL-C were significantly higher in the hyperuricemic group than in normal group and these parameters were strongly related to serum uric acid levels. The com-ponents of metabolic syndrome such as obesity,hyper-glycemia,hypertension and dyslipidemia had a close correlation with SUA.The Odds ratios of these meta-bolic diseases in the hyperuricemic group were 3.097 times,2.633 times,2.226 times and 3.058 times of the normal SUA group, respectively. They all have a positive correlation with hyperuricemia.Hyperurice-mia is closely linked to the various components of the metabolic syndrome.More emphasis should be put on the evolving control and prevalence of hyperuricemia and metabolic syndrome among males of Han ethnicity in Xinjiang. | Hua YAO Yuping SUN Qing LI Wenhai YAO Qiuyun WANG Jing HU Gulibaha ABUDUREHEMAN Ling TUO Yan JIANG | 2008 | Frontiers of Medicine2008,2,1: | 0 |
| 5 | High-quality draft genome sequence of Streptomyces agglomeratus 5-1-8 with strong anti-MRSA ability, isolated from the frozen soil of Tibet in China显示文摘Streptomyces agglomeratus 5-1-8 with strong anti methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA)ability, isolated from the frozen soil of Tibet in China, has a strong ability to kill the multi-drugs-resistant MRSA.To identify the second-ary metabolism ability of this strain,we describe here the phenotypic characteristics of this strain, along with its high-quality draft genome sequence, its annotation, and analysis. The 7.1M draft genome encodes 6,284 putative open reading frames(ORFs),of which 4,416 ORFs were assigned with clusters of orthologous genes(COG)categories.Also,65 t RNA genes and 24 r RNA operons were identified. The genome contains 12 gene clusters involved in antibiotics production and 1 gene cluster involved in anticancer-compounds production;4 gene clusters belong to polyketides and nonribosomal peptides,1gene cluster belong to the butyrolactone,4 gene clusters belong to the bacteriocin or lantipeptide, and 3 gene clusters belong to the others. This genome-sequence data will facilitate efforts to probe the potential of new antibiotics to kill multidrugs-resistant MRSA. | XiMing Chen Ling Zhang HaiLi Sun ShuYan Li SiJing Chang QingFeng Zhang BingLin Zhang Tuo Chen GuangXiu Liu Paul Dyson | 2017 | Research in Cold and Arid Regions2017,9,5: | 0 |
| 6 | Evaluation of the efficacy and safety of endoscopic band ligation in the treatment of bleeding from mild to moderate gastric varices type 1显示文摘BACKGROUND According to practice guidelines, endoscopic band ligation(EBL)and endoscopic tissue adhesive injection(TAI)are recommended for treating bleeding from esophagogastric varices. However,EBL and TAI are known to cause serious complications, such as hemorrhage from dislodged ligature rings caused by EBL and hemorrhage from operation-related ulcers resulting from TAI.However, the optimal therapy for mild to moderate type 1 gastric variceal hemorrhage(GOV1)has not been determined. Therefore, the aim of this study was to discover an individualized treatment for mild to moderate GOV1.AIM To compare the efficacy, safety and costs of EBL and TAI for the treatment of mild and moderate GOV1.METHODS A clinical analysis of the data retrieved from patients with mild or moderate GOV1 gastric varices who were treated under endoscopy was also conducted.Patients were allocated to an EBL group or an endoscopic TAI group. The differences in the incidence of varicose relief, operative time, operation success rate, mortality rate within 6 wk,rebleeding rate,6-wk operation-related ulcer healing rate, complication rate and average operation cost were compared between the two groups of patients.RESULTS The total effective rate of the two treatments was similar, but the efficacy of EBL(66.7%)was markedly better than that of TAI(39.2%)(P<0.05).The operation success rate in both groups was 100%,and the 6-wk mortality rate in both groups was 0%.The average operative time(26 min)in the EBL group was significantly shorter than that in the TAI group(46 min)(P<0.01).The rate of delayed postoperative rebleeding in the EBL group was significantly lower than that in the TAI group(11.8%vs 45.1%)(P<0.01).At 6 wk after the operation, the healing rate of operation-related ulcers in the EBL group was 80.4%,which was significantly greater than that in the TAI group(35.3%)(P<0.01).The incidence of postoperative complications in the two groups was similar. The average cost and other related economic factors were greater for the EBL than for the TAI(P<0.01).CONCLUSION For mild to moderate GOV1,patients with EBL had a greater one-time varix eradication rate,a greater 6-wk operation-related ulcer healing rate,a lower delayed rebleeding rate and a lower cost than patients with TAI. | Yue Deng Ya Jiang Tong Jiang Ling Chen Hai-Jun Mou Bi-Guang Tuo Guo-Qing Shi | 2024 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2024,30,5: | 0 |
