2Targeted Mutagenesis of NAC Transcription Factor Gene,OsN AC041,Leading to Salt Sensitivity in Rice显示文摘Salinity is a major abiotic stress factor that seriously affects plant growth. Many genes are involved in the response to salt stress with various metabolism pathways. A number of plant transcription factor family genes have been found to be involved in the salt stress response, and NAM, ATAF and CUC(NAC) transcription factors are thought to act as active regulators during abiotic stress, especially salt stress. In this study, we detected a rice NAC transcription factor coding gene, OsNAC041, and confirmed that it influenced the germination of seeds under salt stress and salt tolerance of plants. OsNAC041 was primarily expressed in the leaves and located in the nucleus. Furthermore, the CRISPR/Cas9 method was used to obtain a targeted osnac041 mutant, of which the plant height was higher than that of the wild-type, showing increased salt sensitivity. Moreover, RNA-seq analysis revealed a number of differentially expressed genes(DEGs) involved in several important signaling pathways in the osnac041 mutant. Subsequently, Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes annotation also revealed differential expression of DEGs associated with mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling, peroxisome, eukaryotictype ABC transporters, photosynthesis and plant hormones, which are involved in stress-related signaling pathways. Overall, our study suggested that OsNAC041 was involved in the salt stress response in rice. 3Efficient elimination of multidrug-resistant bacteria using copper sulfide nanozymes anchored to graphene oxide nanosheets显示文摘Antibacterial nanomaterials have attracted growing interest for bacterial infection therapy.However,most nanomaterials eliminate bacteria either physically or chemically,which hampers their efficacy when dealing with multidrug-resistant bacteria.To overcome this,we integrated copper sulfide(CuS)nanoparticles with active graphene oxide nanosheets(GO NSs)to synthesize a superior nanocomposite(CuS/GO NC)that acts both physically and chemically on the bacteria.CuS/GO NC was produced using a facile hydrothermal method,whereby the CuS nanoparticles grew and were uniformly dispersed on the GO NSs in situ.We found that the CuS/GO NC possesses a unique needle-like morphology that physically damages the bacterial cell membrane.CuS/GO NC also exhibits high oxidase-and peroxidase-like activity,ensuring efficient generation of the reactive oxygen species•OH from H2O2,which kills bacteria chemically.These features endow the CuS/GO NC with excellent antibacterial capabilities to kill multidrug-resistant bacteria such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA)with only a single dose.Additionally,it was found that the CuS/GO NC accelerated the healing of infected wounds in vivo owing to its good biocompatibility as well as facilitation of cell migration and collagen secretion.This study provides a new strategy to combine the physical and chemical antibacterial modes of nanomaterials to develop more effective therapies to combat multidrug-resistant bacterial infections.Wanshun Wang Binglin Li Huili Yang Zefeng Lin Lingling Chen Zhan Li Jiayuan Ge Tao Zhang Hong Xia Lihua Li Yao Lu 2020Nano Research2020,13,8:8
4Assessment of organic compost and biochar in promoting phytoremediation of crude-oil contaminated soil using Calendula officinalis in the Loess Plateau, China显示文摘The Loess Plateau,located in Gansu Province,is an important energy base in China because most of the oil and gas resources are distributed in Gansu Province.In the last 40 a,ecological environment in this region has been extremely destroyed due to the over-exploitation of crude-oil resources.Remediation of crude-oil contaminated soil in this area remains to be a challenging task.In this study,in order to elucidate the effects of organic compost and biochar on phytoremediation of crude-oil contaminated soil(20 g/kg)by Calendula officinalis,we designed five treatments,i.e.,natural attenuation(CK),planted C.officinalis only(P),planted C.officinalis with biochar amendment(PB),planted C.officinalis with organic compost amendment(PC),and planted C.officinalis with co-amendment of biochar and organic compost(PBC).After 152 d of cultivation,total petroleum hydrocarbons(TPH)removal rates of CK,P,PB,PC and PBC were 6.36%,50.08%,39.58%,73.10%and 59.87%,respectively.Shoot and root dry weights of C.officinalis significantly increased by 172.31%and 80.96%under PC and 311.61%and 145.43%under PBC,respectively as compared with P(P<0.05).Total chlorophyll contents in leaves of C.officinalis under P,PC and PBC significantly increased by 77.36%,125.50%and 79.80%,respectively(P<0.05)as compared with PB.Physical-chemical characteristics and enzymatic activity of soil in different treatments were also assessed.The highest total N,total P,available N,available P and SOM(soil organic matter)occurred in PC,followed by PBC(P<0.05).C.officinalis rhizospheric soil dehydrogenase(DHA)and polyphenol oxidase(PPO)activities in PB were lower than those of other treatments(P<0.05).The values of ACE(abundance-based coverage estimators)and Chao 1 indices for rhizospheric bacteria were the highest under PC followed by PBC,P,PB and CK(P<0.05).However,the Shannon index for bacteria was the highest under PC and PBC,followed by P,PB and CK(P<0.05).In terms of soil microbial community composition,Proteiniphilum,Immundisolibacteraceae and Solimonadaceae were relatively more abundant under PC and PBC.Relative abundances of Pseudallescheria,Ochroconis,Fusarium,Sarocladium,Podospora,Apodus,Pyrenochaetopsis and Schizothecium under PC and PBC were higher,while relative abundances of Gliomastix,Aspergillus and Alternaria were lower under PC and PBC.As per the nonmetric multidimensional scaling(NMDS)analysis,application of organic compost significantly promoted soil N and P contents,shoot length,root vitality,chlorophyll ratio,total chlorophyll,abundance and diversity of rhizospheric soil microbial community in C.officinalis.A high p H value and lower soil N and P contents induced by biochar,altered C.officinalis rhizospheric soil microbial community composition,which might have restrained its phytoremediation efficiency.The results suggest that organic compost-assisted C.officinalis phytoremediation for crude-oil contaminated soil was highly effective in the Loess Plateau,China.WANG Jincheng JING Mingbo ZHANG Wei ZHANG Gaosen ZHANG Binglin LIU Guangxiu CHEN Tuo ZHAO Zhiguang 2021Journal of Arid Land2021,13,6:4
5Classifying wakes produced by self-propelled fish-like swimmers using neural networks显示文摘We consider the classification of wake structures produced by self-propelled fish-like swimmers based on local measurements of flow variables.This problem is inspired by the extraordinary capability of animal swimmers in perceiving their hydrodynamic environments under dark condition.We train different neural networks to classify wake structures by using the streamwise velocity component,the crosswise velocity component,the vorticity and the combination of three flow variables,respectively.It is found that the neural networks trained using the two velocity components perform well in identifying the wake types,whereas the neural network trained using the vorticity suffers from a high rate of misclassification.When the neural network is trained using the combination of all three flow variables,a remarkably high accuracy in wake classification can be achieved.The results of this study can be helpful to the design of flow sensory systems in robotic underwater vehicles.Binglin Li Xiang Zhang Xing Zhang 2020Theoretical & Applied Mechanics Letters2020,10,3:4
6Accelerated design and characterization of non-uniform cellular materials via a machine-learning based framework显示文摘Cellular materials,widely found in engineered and nature systems,are highly dependent on their geometric arrangement.A nonuniform arrangement could lead to a significant variation of mechanical properties while bringing challenges in material design.Here,this proof-of-concept study demonstrates a machine-learning based framework with the capability of accelerated characterization and pattern generation.Results showed that the proposed framework is capable of predicting the mechanical response curve of any given geometric pattern within the design domain under appropriate neural network architecture and parameters.Additionally,the framework is capable of generating matching geometric patterns for a targeted response through a databank constructed from our machine learning model.The accuracy of the predictions was verified with finite element simulations and the sources of errors were identified.Overall,our machine-learning based framework can boost the design efficiency of cellular materials at unit level,and open new avenues for the programmability of function at system level.Chunping Ma Zhiwei Zhang Benjamin Luce Simon Pusateri Binglin Xie Mohammad H.Rafiei Nan Hu 2020npj Computational Materials2020,,1:3

8SWELLING AND WETTABILITY OF LIGHT-CURED METHACRYLATE-BASED DENTAL RESINS PREPARED FROM CHOLIC ACID显示文摘2′-methacryloxy-3α, 7α, 12α - trimethacryloyl cholic acid ethyl ester (CAGE4MA) has been prepared from cholic acid. Photo-polymeric resins were prepared from CAGE4MA. 2,2-bis4-(2-hydroxy-3-methacrylyloxypropoxy)phenylpropane (bis-GMA) was used for comparison, triethyleneglycol dimethacrylate (TEGDMA) was used as diluent. The polymerization was initiated by camphoroquinone (CQ)N, N-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate (DMAEMA) system. The conversion of CAGE4MA was 39% when the reaction time is 60s, which is lower than bis-GMA and TEGDMA. The swelling value of CAGE4MA resin was 0.41% in distilled water, which is much lower than those of bis-GMA resin (2.04%) and TEGDMA resin (4.77%) under the same conditions. Copolymers from CAGE4MA and TEGDMA have been prepared. With the increase of TEGDMA in mixture, the degree of conversion of CAGE4MA and swelling value increased. 17A low-energy ion spectrometer with half-space entrance for three-axis stabilized spacecraft显示文摘A low-energy ion spectrometer(LEIS) for use aboard three-axis stabilized spacecraft has been developed to measure ion energy per charge distribution in three-dimensional space with good energy-, angular-and temporal-resolutions. For the standard top-hat electrostatic analyzer used widely in space plasma detection, three-axis stabilized spacecraft makes it difficult to obtain complete coverage of all possible ion arrival directions. We have designed angular scanning deflectors supplementing to a cylindrically symmetric top-hat electrostatic analyzer to provide a half-space field of view as 360°×90°(–45°–+45°), and fabricated the LEIS flight model for detecting magnetospheric ions in geosynchronous orbit. The performance of this payload has been evaluated in detail by a series of simulation and environmental tests, and the payload has also been calibrated through laboratory experiments using a low-energy ion source. 19Spatial Pattern and Benefit Allocation in Regional Collaborative Innovation of the Yangtze River Delta, China显示文摘As an important step enhancing regional innovation, researches on collaborative innovation have attracted much more attention recently. One significant reason is that cities can get excessive benefits while they take collaborative innovation activities. Based on the theories of innovation geography, this paper takes the collaborative innovation of the Yangtze River Delta(YRD) Urban Agglomeration as a case study and measures the collaborative innovation capacity from innovation actors and innovation cities by adopting the catastrophe progression model. Then on this basis, the study depicts the spatial pattern and the benefit allocation of collaborative innovation by using the coupling collaborative degree model and benefit allocation model of collaborative innovation. The results show that:1) The collaborative innovation capacity of cities in the Yangtze River Delta has strengthened largely, while the capacity still is not high enough. Cities with high collaborative innovation capacity are concentrated in Shanghai, the southern part of Jiangsu, and Hangzhou Bay, yet the cooperation of the universities-industries-research institutes need to improve. 2) The spatial pattern of collaborative innovation of the Yangtze River Delta presents several innovation circles, which are in Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou Metropolitan Circle, Nanjing Metropolitan Circle, Hangzhou Metropolitan Circle, Ningbo Metropolitan Circle, and Hefei Metropolitan Circle. Shanghai plays the role of the central city of collaborative innovation, while Suzhou, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Ningbo, and Hefei act as sub-central cities. 3) The benefit each city allocated from collaborative innovation activities has increased. 20Effects of Different Potassium (K) Fertilizer Rates on Yield Formation and Lodging of Rice显示文摘As one of the most important nutrients for plants,potassium(K)has substantial effects on growth and development of crops.Present study was conducted in three different sites in South China in late season in 2019 with the objective to study the effects of different applied amounts of K fertilizer on yield formation and lodging of rice.Four K fertilizer treatments,K_(0):0 kg potassium oxide(K_(2)O)ha^(−1)(control);K_(1):64.20 kg K_(2)O ha^(−1);K_(2):128.55 kg K_(2)O ha^(−1) and K_(3)153.90 kg K_(2)O ha^(−1) were applied in the field experiment.The results showed that K_(2) and K_(3) treatments significantly increased panicle number per unit area,grain number per panicle,seed-setting rate and the grain yield of rice compared with K_(0) treatment.Higher net photosynthetic rates were recorded in K_(2) and K_(3) treatments than K_(0) treatment at tillering stage,heading stage and maturity stage.K fertilizer treatments also increased the chlorophyll content and dry matter accumulation by 6.16–23.52%and 21.32–64.59%compared with K_(0) treatment,respectively.Moreover,the total N and K accumulation in the aboveground tissues of rice significantly increased under K_(2) and K_(3) treatments compared with K_(0) treatment.Furthermore,compared with K_(0) treatment,K fertilizer treatments significantly enhanced the breaking-resistant strength by 40.94–144.24%and reduced the lodging index of rice by 13.14–36.72%.Tantan Zhang Xiaoping He Binglin Chen Longxin He Xiangru Tang 2021Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2021,90,3:1
