1Harnessing Internet finance with innovative cyber credit management显示文摘In the last two decades,Internet technologies,such as cloud computing,mobile communications,social media,and big data analytics,have brought tremendous changes to our society and reshaped the business in various industries.Specifically,the mushrooming innovations in the financial area fertilized by information and communication technologies indicates the advent of the Internet finance era.Applying the exploratory research approach,we investigate major innovative Internet-based financial services and classify them into five categories,as of e-commerce,e-payment,e-money market,online loan services,and digital currencies.Then we propose a market structure of Internet finance extended from the traditional financial market.We claim that credit management is the key issue in the marketplace of Internet finance,characterized by big data analytics,in which cyber credit appears as whole-process,multi-dimensional,and holographic.We further suggest that cyber credit be represented in the form of vector to overcome the limits of traditional single-value measure in cyber credit management.Based on this framework,we raise main research issues in Internet finance from the perspectives of theory,technology,and governance.Zhangxi Lin Andrew B.Whinston Shaokun Fan 2015Financial Innovation2015,1,1:7
2Gravitational wave astrophysics, data analysis and multimessenger astronomy显示文摘This paper reviews gravitational wave sources and their detection. One of the most exciting potential sources of gravitational waves are coalescing binary black hole systems. They can occur on all mass scales and be formed in numerous ways, many of which are not understood. They are generally invisible in electromagnetic waves, and they provide opportunities for deep investigation of Einstein's general theory of relativity. Sect. 1 of this paper considers ways that binary black holes can be created in the universe, and includes the prediction that binary black hole coalescence events are likely to be the first gravitational wave sources to be detected. The next parts of this paper address the detection of chirp waveforms from coalescence events in noisy data.Such analysis is computationally intensive. Sect. 2 reviews a new and powerful method of signal detection based on the GPUimplemented summed parallel infinite impulse response filters. Such filters are intrinsically real time alorithms, that can be used to rapidly detect and localise signals. Sect. 3 of the paper reviews the use of GPU processors for rapid searching for gravitational wave bursts that can arise from black hole births and coalescences. In sect. 4 the use of GPU processors to enable fast efficient statistical significance testing of gravitational wave event candidates is reviewed. 18Vitamin B_(12)-auxotrophy in dinoflagellates caused by incomplete or absent cobalamin-independent methionine synthase genes(metE)显示文摘Dinoflagellates are responsible for most marine harmful algal blooms (HABs) and play vital roles in many ocean processes.More than 90% of dinoflagellates are vitamin B_(12) auxotrophs and that B_(12) availability can control dinoflagellate HABs,yet the genetic basis of B_(12) auxotrophy in dinoflagellates in the framework of the ecology of dinoflagellates and particularly HABs,which was the objective of this work.Here,we investigated the presence,phylogeny,and transcription of two methionine synthase genes(B_(12)-dependent metH and B_(12)-independent metE)via searching and assembling transcripts and genes from transcriptomic and genomic databases,cloning 38 cDNA isoforms of the two genes from 14 strains of dinoflagellates,measuring the expression at different scenarios of B_(12),and comprehensive phylogenetic analyses of more than 100 organisms.We found that 1)metH was present in all 58 dinoflagellates accessible and metE was present in 40 of 58 species,2)all metE genes lacked N-terminal domains,3)metE of dinoflagellates were phylogenetically distinct from other known metE genes,and 4)expression of metH in dinoflagellates was responsive to exogenous B_(12) levels while expression of metE was not responding as that of genuine metE genes.We conclude that most,hypothetically all,dinoflagellates have either non-functional metE genes lacking N-terminal domain for most species,or do not possess metE for other species,which provides the genetic basis for the widespread nature of B_(12) auxotrophy in dinoflagellates.The work elucidated a fundamental aspect of the nutritional ecology of dinoflagellates.Siheng Lin Zhangxi Hu Xiaoying Song Christopher JGobler Ying Zhong Tang 2022Fundamental Research2022,2,5:0
19Expected return,time-varying risk,and hedging demand in the US REITs market显示文摘This paper explores the time-varying relationship between the return and risk for the portfolios in the US real estate investment trusts(REITs)market.Three classes of REITs portfolios are sorted on size,momentum and book-to-market.The empirical results place a positive trade-off between the return and predictable covariation in all REITs portfolios.Furthermore,this paper examines the significance of intertemporal hedging demand in each REITs portfolio by extending the Intertemporal Capital Asset Pricing model(ICAPM)with a set of prevailing macroeconomic variables and financial market indicators,which indicate that the predictable movements in return could be attributed to the change in covariances with these innovations.The conclusive results show that innovations in inflation rate,de-trended short-term interest rate,Fama-French momentum factor,S&P/Case-Shiller home price index,and Barclay Capital long-term government/corporate bond index play a crucial role in hedging demand for REITs portfolios.Zhongyi Xiao Zhangxi Lin Siming Li 2014Journal of Management Analytics2014,1,1:0
