Effect of Squeeze Casting on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Hypereutectic Al-xSi Alloys显示文摘The effect of squeeze casting on microstructure and mechanical properties of hypereutectic Al-xS i alloys(x = 15, 17.5, 22 wt%) was investigated in this study. Results show that microstructure of the hypereutectic Al-x Si alloys was obviously improved by squeeze casting. The amount of coarse primary Si phase decreased, while that of ?ne primary α-Al dendrites increased with the increase of squeeze casting pressure. Due to the decrease of coarse primary Si particles, cracking of the matrix was reduced, whilst the?ne microstructure, and mechanical properties of the squeeze casting alloys were improved. Compared with gravity casting alloys, mechanical properties of the hypereutectic Al-xS i alloys solidi?ed at 600 MPa were improved signi?cantly. Hardness of the squeeze casting hypereutectic Al-(15, 17.5, 22 wt%) Si alloys was improved by 15.91%, 12.23%, 17.48%, ultimate tensile strength was improved by 37.85%, 32.27%, 22.74%,and elongation was improved by 55.83%, 167.86%, 126.76%, respectively. Due to the uniform distribution of Si phases in squeeze casting Al-x Si alloys, their wear resistance was markedly enhanced.Runxia Li Lanji Liu Lijun Zhang Jihong Sun Yuanji Shi Baoyi Yu 2017Journal of Materials Science & Technology2017,33,4:8
Effects of Cd and Sn on double-peak age-hardening behaviors of Al-Si-Cu-Mg cast alloys显示文摘The effects of trace elements Cd and Sn on precipitation process of Al-Si-Cu-Mg cast alloys were investigated in the present research. It is shown that the addition of Cd and Sn not only increases remarkably the aging peak hardness and reduces the time to reach aging peak, but also eliminates the double-aging-peak phenomenon which appears in Al-Si-Cu-Mg alloys. In Al-Si-Cu-Mg alloys the first aging peak corresponds to GP zones(especially GPⅡ) ,and the second one is caused by metastable phases. The obvious time interval of transition from GPⅡ to metastable phases associates with the double-aging-peak phenomenon. The results of DSC and TEM show that Cd/Sn elements suppress the formation of GPⅠzone, stimulate the formation of θ',θ' and θ phases, and then shorten remarkably the temperature intervals of each exothermic peak.Because the transition interval between GPⅡzone and metastable phases is shortened by Cd/Sn in Al-Si-Cu-Mg cast alloys,θ' phase coexists with θ' phase in matrix of ageing peak condition, which causes effective hardening on the alloys, and at the same time, eliminates the double-aging-peak phenomenon.Li Runxia Chen Yujin Yuan Xiaoguang Qu Yingdong Li Rongde 2010China Foundry2010,7,1:7
Effect of hot extrusion process on microstructure and mechanical properties of hypereutectic Al-Si alloys显示文摘The hypereutectic Al-Si alloy was fabricated by hot extrusion process after solidified under electromagnetic stirring, and the microstructure and mechanical properties of the alloy were studied. The results show that the ultimate tensile strength and elongation of the alloy reached 229.5 MPa and 4.6%,respectively with the extrusion ratio of 10,and 263.2 MPa and 5.4%,respectively with extrusion ratio of 20.This indicates that the mechanical properties of the alloy are obviously improved with the increase of extrusion ratio. After hot extruded, the primary Si,eutectic Si,Mg2Si,AlNi,Al7Cu4Ni and Al-Si-Mn-Fe-Cr-Mo phases are refined to different extent, and the efficiency of refinement is obvious more and more with the increase of extrusion ratio. After T6 heat treatment, the sharp corners of these phases become passivated and roundish, and the mechanical properties are improved. The ultimate tensile strength of the extruded alloy after T6 heat treatment reaches 335.3 MPa with extrusion ratio of 10 and 353.6 MPa with extrusion ratio of 20.Li Runxia Yu Fuxiao Zuo Liang 2011China Foundry2011,8,1:3
Cellular automaton modeling of semisolid microstructure formation显示文摘Computer modeling of semi-solid structure formation is of significance in both understanding the mechanisms of globular structure formation and determining the effect of solidification conditions on final microstructure.A modified cellular automaton(mCA) model has been developed, which is coupled with macroscopic models for heat transfer calculation and microscopic models for nucleation and grain growth. The mCA model is applied to A356 Al alloy-one of the most widely used semi-solid alloys,to predict grain morphology and grain size during semi-solid solidification, and determines the effects of pouring temperature on the final microstructure. The modeling results show that the lower the initial temperature, the finer grain size will be obtained. In addition, the model can be used to predict the solutal micro-segregation.Li Qiang Yu Baoyi Zhang Huawen Li Runxia Wang Feng Xie Shuisheng Huang Guojie Wang Hao 2010China Foundry2010,7,2:1

Using benzene carboxylic acids to prepare zirconium-based catalysts for the conversion of biomass-derived furfural显示文摘Benzene carboxylic acid (BCAs) are common and useful chemical blocks, which can be derived from the abundant low rank coals (LRCs) via oxidative degradation. In this work, we proposed a novel strategy to utilize BCAs as raw materials to prepare catalysts with transition metal zirconium, and the prepared catalysts were applied into the conversion of the renewable biomass resources. Typical model BCAs in the oxidative products of LRCs, including pyromellitic acid, trimesic acid (TMSA), trimellitic acid, and benzoic acid, were used as the block to construct the Zr- BCAs catalysts. The chemoselective conversion of furfural into furfuryl alcohol (FAL). an important reaction in the biomass conversion chain, is chosen to evaluate the activity of the catalysts. The preparation conditions of the catalysts and experiment factors during the reaction were systematically investigated. The prepared catalysts were characterized by SEM, TEM, XRD and TG-DTG. The results showed that the prepared catalysts were efficient for the conversion of furfural into FAL, among which Zr-TMSA gave the highest activity. Zr-TMSA could be recycled for ten times without obvious deactivation, indicating an excellent stability. The strategy proposed in this work may be beneficial for the value-added utilization of both LRCs and biomass resources.Huacong Zhou Yufei Sha Zhenhuan Xiao Lu Li Jianmin Hao Keli Yang Na Li Runxia He Quansheng Liu 2018International Journal of Coal Science & Technology2018,5,4:1
Nucleation and growth of Fe-rich phases in Al-5Ti-1B modified Al-Fe alloys investigated using synchrotron X-ray imaging and electron microscopy显示文摘Plate-like Fe-rich intermetallic phases directly influence the mechanical properties of recycled Al alloys;thus, many attempts have been made to modify the morphology of these phases. Through synchrotron X-ray imaging and electron microscopy, the underlying nucleation and growth mechanisms of Fe-rich phases during the solidification of Al-5 Ti-1 B-modified Al-2 Fe alloys were revealed in this study. The results showed that the Al-5 Ti-1 B grain refiner as well as the applied pressure both resulted in reduction of the size and number of primary Al_(3)Fe phases and promoted the formation of eutectic Al_(6)Fe phases. The tomography results demonstrated that Al-5 Ti-1 B changed the three-dimensional(3 D) morphology of primary Fe-rich phases from rod-like to branched plate-like, while a reduction in their thickness and size was also observed. This was attributed to the fact that Ti-containing solutes in the melts inhibit the diffusion of Fe atoms and the Al_(3)Fe twins produce re-entrant corner on the twin boundaries along the growth direction. Moreover, the TiB_(2) provides possible nucleation sites for Al_6Fe phases. The nucleation mechanism of Fe-rich phases is discussed in terms of experimental observations and crystallography calculations. The decrease in the lattice mismatch between TiB_(2) and Al_(6)Fe phases was suggested, which promoted the transformation of Al_(3)Fe to Al_(6)Fe phases.Yuliang Zhao Weiwen Zhang Dongfu Song Bo Lin Fanghua Shen Donghai Zheng ChunXiao Xie Zhenzhong Sun Yanan Fu Runxia Li 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,21:0
