1Inflammation, oxidative stress and renin angiotensin system in atherosclerosis显示文摘Atherosclerosis is a chronic inflammatory disease associated with cardiovascular dysfunction including myocardial infarction, unstable angina, sudden cardiac death, stroke and peripheral thromboses. It has been predicted that atherosclerosis will be the primary cause of death in the world by 2020. Atherogenesis is initiated by endothelial injury due to oxidative stress associated with cardiovascular risk factors including diabetes mellitus, hypertension, cigarette smoking, dyslipidemia, obesity, and metabolic syndrome. The impairment of the endothelium associated with cardiovascular risk factors creates an imbalance between vasodilating and vasoconstricting factors, in particular, an increase in angiotensin Ⅱ(Ang Ⅱ) and a decrease in nitric oxide. The renin-angiotensin system(RAS), and its primary mediator Ang Ⅱ, also have a direct influence on the progression of the atherosclerotic process via effects on endothelial function, inflammation, fibrinolytic balance, and plaque stability. Anti-inflammatory agents [statins, secretory phospholipase A2 inhibitor, lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 inhibitor, 5-lipoxygenase activating protein, chemokine motif ligand-2, C-C chemokine motif receptor 2 pathway inhibitors, methotrexate, IL-1 pathway inhibitor and RAS inhibitors(angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors)], Ang Ⅱ receptor blockers and ranin inhibitors may slow inflammatory processes and disease progression. Several studies in human using anti-inflammatory agents and RAS inhibitors revealed vascular benefits and reduced progression of coronary atherosclerosis in patients with stable angina pectoris; decreased vascular inflammatory markers, improved common carotid intima-media thickness and plaque volume in patients with diagnosed atherosclerosis. 2Potential beneficial effects of butyrate in intestinal and extraintestinal diseases显示文摘The multiple beneficial effects on human health of the short-chain fatty acid butyrate,synthesized from nonabsorbed carbohydrate by colonic microbiota,are well documented.At the intestinal level,butyrate plays a regulatory role on the transepithelial fluid transport,ameliorates mucosal inflammation and oxidative status,reinforces the epithelial defense barrier,and modulates visceral sensitivity and intestinal motility.In addition,a growing number of studies have stressed the role of butyrate in the prevention and inhibition of colorectal cancer.At the extraintestinal level,butyrate exerts potentially useful effects on many conditions,including hemoglobinopathies,genetic metabolic diseases,hypercholesterolemia,insulin resistance,and ischemic stroke.The mechanisms of action of butyrate are different;many of these are related to its potent regulatory effects on gene expression.These data suggest a wide spectrum of positive effects exerted by butyrate,with a high potential for a therapeutic use in human medicine.Roberto Berni Canani Margherita Di Costanzo Ludovica Leone Monica Pedata Rosaria Meli Antonio Calignano 2011World Journal of Gastroenterology2011,17,12:52

4我国九省眼病调查中北京市顺义区50岁及以上人群盲和中、重度视力损伤患病率调查显示文摘目的调查北京市顺义区50岁及以上人群盲和中、重度视力损伤的患病率。方法以人群为基础的横断面调查。2006年4—8月对北京市顺义区50岁及以上人群进行视力和眼部检查。采用整群随机抽样方法抽取28个调查点,正式现场调查之前先进行预试验,并进行保证调查质量的重复性检验。根据村户口本逐户检录调查对象,对受检人群进行视力和眼部检查。按年龄、性别、受教育程度分别计算盲和中、重度视力损伤的患病率。各检测数据间的比较采用X^2z检验和趋势x^2检验。结果在检录的5840人中,5118人接受并完成了检查,受检率为87.64%。以世界卫生组织1973年视力损伤分类标准和最佳矫正视力计算,盲57例,患病率为1.11%;中、重度视力损伤160例,患病率为3.12%。以世界卫生组织1973年视力损伤分类标准和日常生活视力计算,盲65例,患病率为1.27%;中、重度视力损伤428例,患病率为8.36%。以最佳矫正视力计算,高龄(趋势X^2=784.23,P=0.000)、女性(x。=28.35,P=0.000)和文盲(趋势x^2=397.13,P=0.000)人群的盲和中、重度视力损伤的患病率增高。白内障是盲和中、重度视力损伤的主要原因。视网膜疾病成为导致盲和中、重度视力损伤的第二位原因。未矫正屈光不正也是导致视力损伤的重要原因。结论北京市顺义区50岁及以上人群盲的患病率较1996年有所下降,表明该区的防盲治盲工作取得成效。但是白内障仍是导致盲和中、重度视力损伤的首要原因。刘虎 赵家良 陆宏 李凤荣 张扬 杨渊荃 王羽 高学成 毛进 Leon B.Ellwein 降丽娟 张文宝 2012中华眼科杂志2012,48,3:44

7Generating optical orbital angular momentum at visible wavelengths using a plasmonic metasurface显示文摘Light beams with a helical phase-front possess orbital angular momentum along their direction of propagation in addition to the spin angular momentum that describes their polarisation.Until recently,it was thought that these two‘rotational’motions of light were largely independent and could not be coupled during light–matter interactions.However,it is now known that interactions with carefully designed complex media can result in spin-to-orbit coupling,where a change of the spin angular momentum will modify the orbital angular momentum and vice versa.In this work,we propose and demonstrate that the birefringence of plasmonic nanostructures can be wielded to transform circularly polarised light into light carrying orbital angular momentum.A device operating at visible wavelengths is designed from a space-variant array of subwavelength plasmonic nano-antennas.Experiment confirms that circularly polarised light transmitted through the device is imbued with orbital angular momentum of 62'(with conversion efficiency of at least 1%).This technology paves the way towards ultrathin orbital angular momentum generators that could be integrated into applications for spectroscopy,nanoscale sensing and classical or quantum communications using integrated photonic devices.Ebrahim Karimi Sebastian A Schulz Israel De Leon Hammam Qassim Jeremy Upham Robert W Boyd 2014Light(Science & Applications)2014,3,1:39
8Diabetes and cardiovascular disease: Epidemiology, biological mechanisms, treatment recommendations and future research显示文摘The incidence of diabetes mellitus(DM) continues to rise and has quickly become one of the most prevalent and costly chronic diseases worldwide. A close link exists between DM and cardiovascular disease(CVD), which is the most prevalent cause of morbidity and mortality in diabetic patients. Cardiovascular(CV) risk factors such as obesity, hypertension and dyslipidemia are common in patients with DM, placing them at increased risk for cardiac events. In addition, many studies have found biological mechanisms associated with DM that independently increase the risk of CVD in diabetic patients. Therefore, targeting CV risk factors in patients with DM is critical to minimize the long-term CV complications of the disease. 10The role of aluminum sensing and signaling in plant aluminum resistance显示文摘As researchers have gained a better understanding in recent years into the physiological, molecular, and genetic basis of how plants deal with aluminum(Al) toxicity in acid soils prevalent in the tropics and sub‐tropics, it has become clear that an important component of these responses is the triggering and regulation of cellular pathways and processes by Al. In this review of plant Al signaling, we begin by summarizing the understanding of physiological mechanisms of Al resistance, which first led researchers to realize that Al stress induces gene expression and modifies protein function during the activation of Al resistance responses. Subsequently, an overview of Al resistance genes and their function provides verification that Al induction of gene expression plays a major role in Al resistance in many plant species. More recent research into the mechanistic basis for Al‐induced transcriptional activation of resistance genes has led to the identification of several transcription factors as well as cis‐elements in the promoters of Al resistance genes that play a role in greater Al‐induced gene expression as well as higher constitutive expression of resistance genes in some plant species. 11Pathways of China's PM;air quality 2015–2060 in the context of carbon neutrality显示文摘Clean air policies in China have substantially reduced particulate matter(PM;) air pollution in recent years,primarily by curbing end-of-pipe emissions.However,reaching the level of the World Health Organization(WHO) guidelines may instead depend upon the air quality co-benefits of ambitious climate action.Here,we assess pathways of Chinese PM;air quality from 2015 to 2060 under a combination of scenarios that link global and Chinese climate mitigation pathways(i.e.global 2℃-and 1.5℃-pathways,National Determined Contributions(NDC) pledges and carbon neutrality goals) to local clean air policies.We find that China can achieve both its near-term climate goals(peak emissions) and PM;air quality annual standard(35 μg/m;) by 2030 by fulfilling its NDC pledges and continuing air pollution control policies.However,the benefits of end-of-pipe control reductions are mostly exhausted by 2030,and reducing PM;exposure of the majority of the Chinese population to below 10 μg/m;by 2060 will likely require more ambitious climate mitigation efforts such as China’ s carbon neutrality goals and global1.5℃-pathways.Our results thus highlight that China’s carbon neutrality goals will play a critical role in reducing air pollution exposure to the level of the WHO guidelines and protecting public health.Jing Cheng Dan Tong Qiang Zhang Yang Liu Yu Lei Gang Yan Liu Yan Sha Yu Ryna Yiyun Cui Leon Clarke Guannan Geng Bo Zheng Xiaoye Zhang Steven JDavis Kebin He 2021National Science Review2021,8,12:23
12Biomonitoring for traditional herbal medicinal products using DNA metabarcoding and single molecule, real-time sequencing显示文摘Global concerns have been paid to the potential hazard of traditional herbal medicinal products(THMPs). Substandard and counterfeit THMPs, including traditional Chinese patent medicine, health foods, dietary supplements, etc. are potential threats to public health. Recent marketplace studies using DNA barcoding have determined that the current quality control methods are not sufficient for ensuring the presence of authentic herbal ingredients and detection of contaminants/adulterants. An efficient biomonitoring method for THMPs is of great needed. Herein, metabarcoding and single-molecule, realtime(SMRT) sequencing were used to detect the multiple ingredients in Jiuwei Qianghuo Wan(JWQHW), a classical herbal prescription widely used in China for the last 800 years. Reference experimental mixtures and commercial JWQHW products from the marketplace were used to confirm the method. Successful SMRT sequencing results recovered 5416 and 4342 circular-consensus sequencing(CCS) reads belonging to the ITS2 and psb A-trn H regions. The results suggest that with the combination of metabarcoding and SMRT sequencing, it is repeatable, reliable, and sensitive enough to detect species in the THMPs, and the error in SMRT sequencing did not affect the ability to identify multiple prescribed species and several adulterants/contaminants. 13Alcohol and hepatocellular carcinoma:A review and a point of view显示文摘It is well recognized that one cause of chronic liver disease and hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is alcohol consumption.Research in Italy and the United States concludes that the most common cause of HCC(responsible for 32%to 45%of HCC)is alcohol.It has recently been shown that a significant relationship between alcohol intake,metabolic changes,and hepatitis virus infection does exist.Alcohol may be a factor in the development of HCC via direct(genotoxic)and indirect mechanisms(cirrhosis).There is only one way of diagnosing HCC,which is early identification through surveillance,when curative treatments become possible.After stopping alcohol intake the risk of liver cancer decreases by 6%to 7%a year,and an estimated time period of 23 years is also needed.Therefore,surveillance is also important in former drinkers and,in our opinion,independently from the presence of compensated cirrhosis.In cases of very early stage(VES)and early stage with portal hypertension,liver transplantation is the optimal option;and in cases of associated disease,percutaneous ethanol injections,radiofrequency and microwave ablation are the ideal treatments.Despite the possibility of detecting microvascular invasion with HR,several studies and some randomized controlled trials revealed that overall survival and DSF rates in patients with VES HCC are much the same after ablation and HR.Therefore,ablation can be regarded as a firstline choice for patients with VES HCC.It is important to emphasize that the choice of treatment should be weighed carefully in the context of a multidisciplinary cancer team.Gianni Testino Silvia Leone Paolo Borro 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,43:21

15我国九省眼病调查中广东省阳西县50岁及以上人群盲和中、重度视力损伤患病率及致病原因调查显示文摘目的 调查广东省阳西县50岁及以上人群盲和中、重度视力损伤的患病率及致病原因.方法 以人群为基础的横断面调查.2006年9月至2007年1月对广东省阳西县50岁及以上人群进行视力和眼部检查.采用整群随机抽样方法抽取28个调查点,正式现场调查之前先进行预试验,并进行保证调查质量的重复性检验.根据村户口本逐户检录调查对象.按年龄、性别和受教育程度分别计算受检者肓和中、重度视力损伤的患病率,并判断受检者盲和中、重度视力损伤的原因.采用x2检验、趋势x2检验进行各数据间的比较.结果 在检录的5 531人中,4 589人接受并完成了检查,受检率为82.97%.以世界卫生组织1973年视力损伤分类为标准,以BCVA计算,50岁及以上受检者中盲109人,患病率为2.38%,中、重度视力损伤433人,患病率为9.44%;以日常生活视力计算,盲123人,患病率为2.68%,中、重度视力损伤833人,患病率为18.15%.以BCVA计算,高龄(趋势x2=1 239.34,P<0.01)、女性(x2=37.88,P<0.01)和文盲(趋势x2=235.11,P<0.01)人群盲和中、重度视力损伤的患病率增高.白内障是盲和中、重度视力损伤的主要原因.结论 广东省阳西县50岁及以上人群盲和中、重度视力损伤的患病率在我国九省眼病调查结果中处于较高水平.白内障是导致其盲和中、重度视力损伤的主要原因.葛坚 何明光 赵家良 方敏 Leon B.Ellwein 何宁 杨梅 王羽 高学成 2014中华眼科杂志2014,50,3:20

17我国九省眼病调查中江苏省启东市50岁及以上人群盲和中、重度视力损伤患病率调查显示文摘目的调查2006年江苏省启东市50岁及以上人群盲和中、重度视力损伤的患病率、致盲原因及其相关因素。方法以人群为基础的横断面调查。2006年9—12月对江苏省启东市50岁及以上人群进行视力和眼部检查。采用整群随机抽样方法抽取16个调查点,正式现场调查之前先进行预试验,并进行保证调查质量的重复性检验。根据村户口本逐户检录调查对象,对受检人群进行视力和眼部检查。按年龄、性别、受教育程度分别计算盲和中、重度视力损伤的患病率。各检测数据间的比较采用x^2检验和趋势x^2检验。结果在检录的5662人中,5141人接受并完成了检查,受检率为90.80%。以世界卫生组织1973年视力损伤分类标准和最佳矫正视力计算,盲91例,患病率为1.77%;中、重度视力损伤175例,患病率为3.40%。以世界卫生组织1973年视力损伤分类标准和日常生活视力计算,盲113例,患病率为2.20%;中、重度视力损伤354例,患病率为6.89%。以最佳矫正视力计算,高龄(趋势X^2=825.16,P=0.000)、女性(X^2=19.85,P=0.001)和文盲(趋势X^2=329.85,P=0.000)人群的盲和中、重度视力损伤的患病率增高。白内障是致盲的首要原因。结论江苏省启东市高龄和文盲中盲和中、重度视力损伤患病率较高,致盲的主要原因依次为白内障、眼底病、屈光不正、角膜瘢痕或混浊。陆宏 管怀进 戴追 李密 王燕 胡健艳 施健 赵家良 Leon B.Ellwein 王羽 高学成 2012中华眼科杂志2012,48,3:19
18Spontaneous fungal peritonitis: Epidemiology, current evidence and future prospective显示文摘Spontaneous bacterial peritonitis is a complication of ascitic patients with end-stage liver disease(ESLD); spontaneous fungal peritonitis(SFP) is a complication of ESLD less known and described. ESLD is associated to immunodepression and the resulting increased susceptibility to infections. Recent perspectives of the management of the critically ill patient with ESLD do not specify the rate of isolation of fungi in critically ill patients,not even the antifungals used for the prophylaxis,neither optimal treatment.
