Dissecting the role of AMP-activated protein kinase in human diseases显示文摘AMP-activated protein kinase(AMPK), known as a sensor and a master of cellular energy balance, integrates various regulatory signals including anabolic and catabolic metabolic processes.Accompanying the application of genetic methods and a plethora of AMPK agonists, rapid progress has identified AMPK as an attractive therapeutic target for several human diseases, such as cancer, type2 diabetes, atherosclerosis, myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury and neurodegenerative disease. The role of AMPK in metabolic and energetic modulation both at the intracellular and whole body levels has been reviewed elsewhere. In the present review, we summarize and update the paradoxical role of AMPK implicated in the diseases mentioned above and put forward the challenge encountered. Thus it will be expected to provide important clues for exploring rational methods of intervention in human diseases. | Jin Li Liping Zhong Fengzhong Wang Haibo Zhu | 2017 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2017,7,3: | 18
Land-surface processes and summer-cloud-precipitation characteristics in the Tibetan Plateau and their effects on downstream weather:a review and perspective显示文摘Correct understanding of the land-surface processes and cloud-precipitation processes in the Tibetan Plateau(TP)is an important prerequisite for the study and forecast of the downstream activities of weather systems and one of the key points for understanding the global atmospheric movement. In order to show the achievements that have been made, this paper reviews the progress on the observations for the atmospheric boundary layer,land-surface heat fluxes,cloud-precipitation distributions and vertical structures by using ground-and space-based multiplatform, multisensor instruments and the effect of the cloud system in the TP on the downstream weather. The results show that the form drag related to the topography,land-atmosphere momentum and scalar fluxes is an important part of the parameterization process. The sensible heat flux decreased especially in the central and northern TP caused by the decrease in wind speeds and the differences in the ground-air temperatures.Observations show that the cloud and precipitation over the TP have a strong diurnal variation.Studies also show the compressed-air column in the troposphere by the higher-altitude terrain of the TP makes particles inside clouds vary at a shorter distance in the vertical direction than those in the non-plateau area so that precipitation intensity over the TP is usually small with short duration, and the vertical structure of the convective precipitation over the TP is obviously different from that in other regions. In addition, the influence of the TP on severe weather downstream is preliminarily understood from the mechanism. It is necessary to use model simulations and observation techniques to reveal the difference between cloud precipitation in the TP and non-plateau areas in order to understand the cloud microphysical parameters over the TP and the processes of the land boundary layer affecting cloud, precipitation and weather in the downstream regions. | Yunfei Fu Yaoming Ma Lei Zhong Yuanjian Yang Xueliang Guo Chenghai Wang Xiaofeng Xu Kun Yang Xiangde Xu Liping Liu Guangzhou Fan Yueqing Li Donghai Wang | 2020 | National Science Review2020,7,3: | 10
On the improved tensile strength and ductility of Mg-Sn-Zn-Mn alloy processed by aging prior to extrusion显示文摘This study investigated the influence of aging prior to extrusion(APE)on the tensile strength and ductility of as-extruded Mg-8.32Sn-1.85Zn-0.17Mn alloy. Results demonstrated that APE treatment dramatically increased the volume fraction of recrystallized grains, thereby decreasing the grain size of the as-extruded alloy. This phenomenon was primarily attributed to the particle-stimulated nucleation and pinning effect induced by large amounts of small Mg 2 Sn precipitates produced by the APE treatment and dynamic precipitation. The tensile yield strength increased from 242.4 MPa to 256.5 MPa after APE treatment. The improved tensile strength can be attributed to the enhanced grain boundary strengthening and precipitation strengthening. The ductility of the as-extruded alloy also markedly increased from 7.1%to 13.5%after the APE treatment. The improved ductility of APE alloy was attributed to the texture randomization, the activity of pyramidalslip and the suppressed formation of{10-11}contraction twins and coarse Mg 2 Sn phases. | Liping Zhong Yongjian Wang Yuchen Dou | 2019 | Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2019,7,4: | 8
The Glutamatergic Postrhinal Cortex–Ventrolateral Orbitofrontal Cortex Pathway Regulates Spatial Memory Retrieval显示文摘A deficit in spatial memory has been taken as an early predictor of Alzheimer’s disease(AD) or mild cognitive impairment(MCI). The uncinate fasciculus(UF) is a long-range white-matter tract that connects the anterior temporal lobe with the orbitofrontal cortex(OFC)in primates. Previous studies have shown that the UF impairment associated with spatial memory deficits may be an important pathological change in aging and AD, but its exact role in spatial memory is not well understood. The pathway arising from the postrhinal cortex(POR) and projecting to the ventrolateral orbitofrontal cortex(vlOFC)performs most of the functions of the UF in rodents.Although the literature suggests an association between spatial memory and the regions connected by the POR–vlOFC pathway, the function of the pathway in spatialmemory is relatively unknown. To further illuminate the function of the UF in spatial memory, we dissected the POR–vlOFC pathway in mice. We determined that the POR–vlOFC pathway is a glutamatergic structure, and that glutamatergic neurons in the POR regulate spatial memory retrieval. We also demonstrated that the POR–vlOFC pathway specifically transmits spatial information to participate in memory retrieval. These findings provide a deeper understanding of UF function and dysfunction related to disorders of memory, as in MCI and AD. | Xinyang Qi Zhanhong Jeff Du Lin Zhu Xuemei Liu Hua Xu Zheng Zhou Cheng Zhong Shijiang Li Liping Wang Zhijun Zhang | 2019 | Neuroscience Bulletin2019,35,3: | 7
Microstructure and Thermal Conductivity of As-Cast and As-Solutionized Mg–Rare Earth Binary Alloys显示文摘The microstructure and thermal conductivity of four groups of Mg–rare earth(RE) binary alloys(Mg–Ce,Mg–Nd, Mg–Y and Mg–Gd) in as-cast and as-solutionized states were systematically studied. Thermal conductivity was measured on a Netzsch LFA457 using laser flash method at room temperature. Results indicated that for as-cast alloys, the volume fraction of second phases increased with the increase of alloying elements. After solutionizing treatment, a part or most of second phases were dissolved in α-Mg matrix, except for Mg–Ce alloys. The thermal conductivity of as-cast and as-solutionized Mg–RE alloys decreased with the increase of concentrations. The thermal conductivity of as-solutionized Mg–Nd,Mg–Y and Mg–Gd alloys was lower than that of as-cast alloys. Thermal conductivity of as-solutionized Mg–Ce alloys was higher than that of as-cast alloys, because of the elimination of lattice defects and fine dispersed particles during solutionizing treatment. Different RE elements have different influences on the thermal conductivity of Mg alloys in the following order: Ce < Nd < Y < Gd. Ce has the minimum effect on thermal conductivity of Mg alloys, because of the very low solubility of Ce in the α-Mg matrix. The variations in the atomic radius of the solute elements with Mg atom( r), valence, configuration of extranuclear electron of the solute atoms, and the maximum solid solubility of elements in the α-Mg matrix were suggested to be the main reasons for the differences in thermal conductivity of resulting Mg–RE alloys. | Liping Zhong Jian Peng Song Sun Yongjian Wang Yun Lu Fusheng Pan | 2017 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2017,33,11: | 7
Hepatitis C Virus Infection Downregulates the Ligands of the Activating Receptor NKG2D显示文摘Natural killer (NK) cells are a major component of the host innate immune defense against various pathogens. Several viruses, including hepatitis C virus (HCV), have developed strategies to evade the NK-cell response. In our study, we found HCV infection could trigger DNA damage response by both ataxia telangiectasia mutated (ATM) and ATM- and Rad3-related (ATR) pathways. Recent reports had revealed that NKG2D ligands (NK cell-activating ligands) were upregulated when a major DNA damage checkpoint pathway was activated. However, here we found that DNA damage response was activated but NKG2D ligands were downregulated upon HCV infection. Further studies showed that the protease NS3/4A of HCV which had been shown relation with immune invasion contributed to the reduced expression of NKG2D ligands. These findings provide a novel insight into the mechanisms evolved by HCV to escape from the NK cell response. | Chaoyang Wen Xiang He Hongfang Ma Ningbo Hou Congwen Wei Ting Song Yanhong Zhang Liping Sun Qingjun Ma Hui Zhong | 2008 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2008,5,6: | 6
The heterogeneity of islet autoantibodies and the progression of islet failure in type 1 diabetic patients显示文摘Type 1 diabetes mellitus is heterogeneous in many facets. The patients suffered from type 1 diabetes present several levels of islet function as well as variable number and type of islet-specific autoantibodies. This study was to investigate prevalence and heterogeneity of the islet autoantibodies and clinical phenotypes of type 1 diabetes mellitus; and also discussed the process of islet failure and its risk factors in Chinese type 1 diabetic patients. A total of 1,291 type 1 diabetic patients were enrolled in this study. Demographic information was collected. Laboratory tests including mixed-meal tolerance test, human leukocyte antigen alleles, hemoglobin A1 c, lipids, thyroid function and islet autoantibodies were conducted. The frequency of islet-specific autoantibody in newly diagnosed T1 DM patients(duration shorter than half year) was 73% in East China. According to binary logistic regressions, autoantibody positivity, longer duration and lower Body Mass Index were the risk factors of islet failure. As the disease developed, autoantibodies against glutamic acid decarboxylase declined as well as the other two autoantibodies against zinc transporter 8 and islet antigen 2. The decrease of autoantibodies was positively correlated with aggressive beta cell destruction. Autoantibodies can facilitate the identification of classic T1 DM from other subtypes and predict the progression of islet failure. As there were obvious heterogeneity in autoantibodies and clinical manifestation in different phenotypes of the disease, we should take more factors into consideration when identifying type 1 diabetes mellitus. | Jin Liu Lingling Bian Li Ji Yang Chen Heng Chen Yong Gu Bingqin Ma Wei Gu Xinyu Xu Yun Shi Jian Wang Dalong Zhu Zilin Sun Jianhua Ma Hui Jin Xing Shi Heng Miao Bing Xin Yan Zhu Zhenwen Zhang Ruifang Bu Lan Xu Guangde Shi Wei Tang Wei Li Dongmei Zhou Jun Liang Xingbo Cheng Bimin Shi Jixiang Dong Ji Hu Chen Fang Shao Zhong Weinan Yu Weiping Lu Chenguang Wu Li Qian Jiancheng Yu Jialin Gao Xiaoqiang Fei Qingqing Zhang Xueqin Wang Shiwei Cui Jinluo Cheng Ning Xu Guofeng Wang Guoqing Han Chunrong Xu Yun Xie Minmin An Wei Zhang Zhixiao Wang Yun Cai Qi Fu Yu Fu Shuai Zheng Fan Yang Qingfang Hu Hao Dai Yu Jin Zheng Zhang Kuanfeng Xu Yifan Li Jie Shen Hongwen Zhou Wei He Xuqin Zheng Xiao Han Liping Yu Jinxiong She Mei Zhang Tao Yang | 2016 | Science China(Life Sciences)2016,59,9: | 5

Joint multiple parameters estimation for coherent chirp signals using vector sensor array显示文摘In this paper, an algorithm is proposed to estimate starting frequency (SF), chirp rate (CR), 2-D direction-of-arrivals (DOA) and polarization of coherent chirp signals with vector sensor arrays. The fractional Fourier transformation (FRFT) is used to estimate SF and CR of chirp signals in this method. And a new correlation matrix is reconstructed to suppress the noise. The property of the vector sensor array is employed to solve the problem of insufficient rank from signal coherence. The L-shaped uniform array of expend aperture is used to improve the precision of estimation, and the method of solving the ambiguity of angle under the condition of coherent signals is presented. The performance of this algorithm is compared with that of spatial smoothing method to verify the efficacy of this approach. | WEN Zhong LI LiPing CHEN TianQi ZHANG XiXiang | 2008 | Science in China(Series F)2008,51,1: | 4
Therapeutic siRNA:state of the art显示文摘RNA interference(RNAi)is an ancient biological mechanism used to defend against external invasion. It theoretically can silence any disease-related genes in a sequence-specific manner, making small interfering RNA(siRNA)a promising therapeutic modality. After a two-decade journey from its discovery, two approvals of siRNA therapeutics,ONPATTRO®(patisiran)and GIVLAARI™(givosiran),have been achieved by Alnylam Pharmaceuticals.Reviewing the long-term pharmaceutical history of human beings,siRNA therapy currently has set up an extraordinary milestone,as it has already changed and will continue to change the treatment and management of human diseases. It can be administered quarterly, even twice-yearly,to achieve therapeutic effects, which is not the case for small molecules and antibodies. The drug development process was extremely hard, aiming to surmount complex obstacles, such as how to efficiently and safely deliver siRNAs to desired tissues and cells and how to enhance the performance of siRNAs with respect to their activity, stability, specificity and potential off-target effects. In this review, the evolution of siRNA chemical modifications and their biomedical performance are comprehensively reviewed. All clinically explored and commercialized siRNA delivery platforms, including the GalNAc(N-acetylgalactosamine)–siRNA conjugate, and their fundamental design principles are thoroughly discussed. The latest progress in siRNA therapeutic development is also summarized. This review provides a comprehensive view and roadmap for general readers working in the field. | Bo Hu Liping Zhong Yuhua Weng Ling Peng Yuanyu Huang Yongxiang Zhao Xing-Jie Liang | 2020 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2020,5,1: | 4
NEW HMM ALGORITHM FOR TOPOLOGY OPTIMIZATION显示文摘A new hybrid MMA-MGCMMA (HMM) algorithm for solving topology optimizationproblems is presented. This algorithm combines the method of moving asymptotes (MMA) algorithmand the modified globally convergent version of the method of moving asymptotes (MGCMMA)algorithm in the optimization process. This algorithm preserves the advantages of both MMA andMGCMMA. The optimizer is switched from MMA to MGCMMA automatically, depending on thenumerical oscillation value existing in the calculation. This algorithm can improve calculationefficiency and accelerate convergence compared with simplex MMA or MGCMMA algorithms, which is proven with an example. | Zuo Kongtian ZhaoYudong Chen Liping Zhong Yifang Huang Yuying | 2005 | Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2005,18,3: | 4
Dual versus mono antiplatelet therapy for acute non-cardioembolic ischaemic stroke or transient ischaemic attack:a systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘Objective Recent years have seen new evidence on the efficacy and safety of dual antiplatelet therapy for secondary stroke prevention. We updated a meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials evaluating dual antiplatelet versus monotherapy for patients with acute non-cardioembolic ischaemic stroke(IS)or transient ischaemic attack(TIA).Methods We searched PubMed and identified randomised controlled trials evaluating dual antiplatelet versus monotherapy for acute non-cardioembolic IS or TIA within 3 days of ictus up to May 2018.Risk ratio(RR)with 95%CI were calculated using random effects models.Clinical endpoints included stroke recurrence, composite vascular events and major bleeding.results 18 randomised controlled trials including 15515 patients were pooled in the meta-analysis.When compared with monotherapy among patients with acute IS or TIA,dual antiplatelet therapy reduced the risk of stroke recurrence(RR 0.69;95%CI 0.61 to 0.78;p<0.001)and composite vascular events(RR 0.72;95%CI 0.64 to 0.80;p<0.001).Dual therapy was associated with a significant increase in the risk of major bleeding(RR 1.77;95%CI 1.09 to 2.87;p=0.02)when all trial data were combined. However, when all previous trials before the completion of the POINT trial were analysed, dual antiplatelet versus monotherapy was not associated with a significant increase in the risk of major bleeding(RR 1.46;95%CI 0.77 to 2.75;p=0.25).Conclusions Among patients with acute noncardioembolic IS or TIA within 3 days of ictus, dual antiplatelet therapy was associated with a reduction in stroke recurrence, and composite vascular events, when compared with monotherapy. However,a significant increase in the risk of major bleeding was observed. | Yingying Yang Mengyuan Zhou Xi Zhong Yongjun Wang Xingquan Zhao Liping Liu Yilong Wang | 2018 | Stroke & Vascular Neurology2018,3,2: | 4
Application of regional citrate anticoagulation in patients at high risk of bleeding during intermittent hemodialysis:a prospective multicenter randomized controlled trial显示文摘Objective:Safe and effective anticoagulation is essential for hemodialysis patients who are at high risk of bleeding. The purpose of this trial is to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of two-stage regional citrate anticoagulation(RCA)combined with sequential anticoagulation and standard calcium-containing dialysate in intermittent hemodialysis(IHD)treatment. Methods:Patients at high risk of bleeding who underwent IHD from September 2019 to May 2021 were prospectively enrolled in 13 blood purification centers of nephrology departments, and were randomly divided into RCA group and saline flushing group. In the RCA group,0.04 g/mL sodium citrate was infused from the start of the dialysis line during blood draining and at the venous expansion chamber. The sodium citrate was stopped after 3 h of dialysis, which was changed to sequential dialysis without anticoagulant. The hazard ratios for coagulation were according to baseline. Results:A total of 159 patients and 208 sessions were enrolled, including RCA group(80 patients,110 sessions)and saline flushing group(79 patients,98 sessions). The incidence of severe coagulation events of extracorporeal circulation in the RCA group was significantly lower than that in the saline flushing group(3.64%vs.20.41%,P<0.001).The survival time of the filter pipeline in the RCA group was significantly longer than that in the saline flushing group((238.34±9.33)min vs.(221.73±34.10)min,P<0.001).The urea clearance index(Kt/V)in the RCA group was similar to that in the saline flushing group with no statistically significant difference(1.12±0.34 vs.1.08±0.34,P=0.41).Conclusions:Compared with saline flushing, the two-stage RCA combined with a sequential anticoagulation strategy significantly reduced extracorporeal circulation clotting events and prolonged the dialysis time without serious adverse events. | Xiaoyan TANG Dezheng CHEN Ling ZHANG Ping FU Yanxia CHEN Zhou XIAO Xiangcheng XIAO Weisheng PENG Li CHENG Yanmin ZHANG Hongbo LI Kehui LI Bizhen GOU Xin WU Qian YU Lijun JIAN Zaizhi ZHU Yu WEN Cheng LIU Hen XUE Hongyu ZHANG Xin HE Bin YAN Liping ZHONG Bin HUANG Mingying MAO | 2022 | Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2022,23,11: | 4
Selenium speciation in flue desulfurization residues显示文摘Flue gas from coal combustion contains significant amounts of volatile selenium(Se).The capture of Se in the flue gas desulfurization(FGD) scrubber unit has resulted in a generation of metal-laden residues. It is important to determine Se speciation to understand the environmental impact of its disposal.A simple method has been developed for selective inorganic Se(IV),Se(VI) and organic Se determination in the liquid-phase FGD residues by hydride generation atomic fluorescence spectrometry(AFS).It has been determined that Se(IV),Se(VI) and organic Se can be accurately determined with detection limits(DL) of 0.05,0.06 and 0.06 μg/L,respectively.The accuracy of the proposed method was evaluated by analyzing the certified reference material,NIST CRM 1632c,and also by analyzing spiked tap-water samples.Analysis indicates that the concentration of Se is high in FGD liquid residues and primarily exists in a reduced state as selenite(Se(IV)).The toxicity of Se(IV) is the strongest of all Se species.Flue gas desulfurization residues pose a serious environmental risk. | Liping Zhong Yan Cao Wenying Li Kechang Xie Wei-Ping Pan | 2011 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,1: | 4
Wideband angle of arrival estimation of chirp signals using virtual Wignerville distribution显示文摘To estimate the angle of arrivals (AOA) of wideband chirp sources, a new time-frequency algorithm is proposed. In this method, virtual sensors are constructed based on the fact that the steering vectors of wideband chirp signals are linear and vary with time. And the randon Wignersville distribution (RWVD) of real sensors and virtual sensors are calculated to yield the new time-invariable steering vectors, furthermore, the noise and cross terms are suppressed. In addition, the multiple chirp signals are selected by their time-frequency points. The cost of computation is lower than the common AOA estimation methods of wideband sources due to nonrequirement of frequency focusing, interpolating and matrix decomposition, including subspace decomposition. Under the lower signal noise ratio (SNR) condition, the proposed method exhibits better precision than the method of frequency focusing (FF). The proposed method can be further applied to nonuniform linear array (NLA) since it is not confined to the array geometry. | 19 | Effect of river plume on phytoplankton community structure in Zhujiang River estuary显示文摘To examine the phytoplankton assemblages and the effect of diluted waters on them,a research cruise was conducted from July 19 to August 7,2015 in the Zhujiang(Pearl)River estuary in the northern South China Sea(21°N–23.5°N,111°E–117°E).Samples were collected from 65 stations including one for time-series sampling.A total of 212 phytoplankton taxa were identified from 61 genera belonging to 4 phyla.Among them,122 species identified from 42 genera of Bacillariophyta and 83 species from 15 genera of Pyrrophyta.Chain-forming diatoms dominated the phytoplankton community where Pseudonitzschia delicatissima,Guinardia striata,Thalassionema nitzschioides, and P.pungens comprised about 52%of the total abundance. However, higher cell abundances concentrated on both sides of the estuary, because of low salinity and high nutrients brought by diluted water. In addition,Canonical Correspondence Analysis revealed that salinity and dissolved inorganic nitrogen shaped the species composition in the study area.Furthermore, the Jaccard similarity index showed prevailing high similarity in the distribution of species in low-salinity diluted waters, and the Bray-Curtis similarity depicted distinguished grouping for phytoplankton assemblages along the salinity gradient. However, phytoplankton diel vertical cycles showed maximum abundance occurred at 2:00 am,which was mainly contributed by benthic phytoplankton species Pseudo-nitzschia spp.and T.nitzschioides. | Qi ZHONG Bing XUE Md Abu NOMAN Yuqiu WEI Haijiao LIU Hongbin LIU Liping ZHENG Hongmei JING Jun SUN | 2021 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2021,39,2: | 2
Pyrolysis behaviour and combustion kinetics of waste printed circuit boards显示文摘The effective recycling of waste printed circuit boards(WPCBs)can conserve resources and reduce environmental pollution. This study explores the pyrolysis and combustion characteristics of WPCBs in various atmospheres through thermogravimetric and Gaussian fitting analyses.Furthermore, this study analyses the pyrolysis products and combustion processes of WPCBs through thermogravimetric and Fourier transform infrared analyses(TG-FTIR)and thermogravimetry-mass spectrometry(TG-MS).Results show that the pyrolysis and combustion processes of WPCBs do not constitute a single reaction, but rather an overlap of multiple reactions. The pyrolysis and combustion process of WPCBs is divided into multiple reactions by Gaussian peak fitting. The kinetic parameters of each reaction are obtained by the Coats-Redfern method. In an argon atmosphere, pyrolysis consists of the overlap of the preliminary pyrolysis of epoxy resin, pyrolysis of small organic molecules, and pyrolysis of brominated flame retardants. The thermal decomposition process in the O_(2) atmosphere is mainly divided into two reactions:brominated flame retardant combustion and epoxy combustion. This study provided the theoretical basis for pollution control, process optimization, and reactor design of WPCBs pyrolysis. | Kang Yan Chongwei Liu Liping Liu Min Xiong Jiongtong Chen Zhongtang Zhang Shuiping Zhong Zhifeng Xu Jindi Huang | 2022 | International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2022,29,9: | 2
