3Thermo-responsive imprinted hydrogel with switchable sialic acid recognition for selective cancer cell isolation from blood显示文摘In this work,a sialic acid(SA)-imprinted thermo-responsive hydrogel layer was prepared for selective capture and release of cancer cells.The SA-imprinting process was performed at 37℃ using thermo-responsive functional monomer,thus generating switchable SA-recognition sites with potent SA binding at 37℃and weak binding at a lower temperature(e.g.,25℃).Since SA is often overexpressed at the glycan terminals of cell membrane proteins or lipids,the SA-imprinted hydrogel layer could be used for selective cancer cell recognition.Our results confirmed that the hydrogel layer could efficiently capture cancer cells from not only the culture medium but also the real blood samples.In addition,the captured cells could be non-invasively released by lowing the temperature.Considering the non-invasive processing mode,considerable capture efficiency,good cell selectivity,as well as the more stable and durable SA-imprinted sites compared to natural antibodies or receptors,this thermo-responsive hydrogel layer could be used as a promising and general platform for cell-based cancer diagnosis.Yue Ma Yimei Yin Li Ni Haohan Miao Yingjia Wang Cheng Pan Xiaohua Tian Jianming Pan Tianyan You Bin Li Guoqing Pan 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,5:1
4Divergent chondro/osteogenic transduction laws of fibrocartilage stem cell drive temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis in growing mice显示文摘The anterior disc displacement(ADD)leads to temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis(TMJOA)and mandibular growth retardation in adolescents.To investigate the potential functional role of fibrocartilage stem cells(FCSCs)during the process,a surgical ADDTMJOA mouse model was established.From 1 week after model generation,ADD mice exhibited aggravated mandibular growth retardation with osteoarthritis(OA)-like joint cartilage degeneration,manifesting with impaired chondrogenic differentiation and loss of subchondral bone homeostasis.Lineage tracing using Gli1^(-)CreER^(+);Tm^(fl/-)mice and Sox9-CreER^(+);Tm^(fl/-)mice showed that ADD interfered with the chondrogenic capacity of Gli1+FCSCs as well as osteogenic differentiation of Sox9+lineage,mainly in the middle zone of TMJ cartilage.Then,a surgically induced disc reposition(DR)mouse model was generated.The inhibited FCSCs capacity was significantly alleviated by DR treatment in ADD mice.And both the ADD mice and adolescent ADD patients had significantly relieved OA phenotype and improved condylar growth after DR treatment.In conclusion,ADD-TMJOA leads to impaired chondrogenic progenitor capacity and osteogenesis differentiation of FCSCs lineage,resulting in cartilage degeneration and loss of subchondral bone homeostasis,finally causing TMJ growth retardation.DR at an early stage could significantly alleviate cartilage degeneration and restore TMJ cartilage growth potential.Ruiye Bi Qianli Li Haohan Li Peng Wang Han Fang Xianni Yang Yiru Wang Yi Hou Binbin Ying Songsong Zhu 2023International Journal of Oral Science2023,15,3:0
5Microstructure and nanomechanical properties of foreleg surface of the prayingmantis(Mantis religiosa Linnaeus)显示文摘Detailed investigations on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the surface of the praying mantis'foreleg were carried out in this work since the microstructure and mechanical properties of insect organisms surfaceare well adjusted to their functions.Scanning electron microscopy revealed the surface microstructures of the tibia andfemur were composed of squamous fibre and the spine surfaces on these two parts are arris.A nanoindenter wasused to investigate the mechanical properties of the praying mantis's foreleg,including the mean Young's modulusand hardness of the femur cuticle,tibia cuticle and the apical claw.The test results on these parts were E=5.533 GPa,H=0.239 GPa,E=3.471GPa,H=0.186 GPa,E=2.232GPa,H=0.449 GPa,respectively.The variation of mechanicalproperties agreed with the analysis of microstructure.Hongliang Sun Zhang Haohan Mo Li 2018Biosurface and Biotribology2018,4,4:0
6Chiral self-assembly of terminal alkyne and selenium clusters organic–inorganic hybrid显示文摘The on-surface self-assembly of inorganic atomic clusters and organic molecules offers significant opportunities to design novel hybrid materials with tailored functionalities.By adopting the advantages from both inorganic and organic components,the hybrid self-assembly molecules have shown great potential in future optoelectrical devices.Herein,we report the co-deposition of 4,8-diethynylbenzo[1,2-d-4,5-d0]bisoxazole(DEBBA)and Se atoms to produce a motif-adjustable organic–inorganic hybrid self-assembly system via the non-covalent interactions.By controlling the coverage of Se atoms,various chiral molecular networks containing Se,Se_(6),Se_(8),and terminal alkynes evolved on the Ag(111)surface.In particular,with the highest coverage of Se atoms,phase segregation into alternating one-dimensional chains of non-covalently bonded Se_(8) clusters and organic ligands has been noticed.The atom-coverage dependent evolution of self-assembly structures reflects the remarkable structural adaptability of Se clusters as building blocks based on the spontaneous resize to reach the maximum non-covalent interactions.This work has significantly extended the possibilities of flexible control in self-assembly nanostructures to enable more potential functions for broad applications.Zhi Chen Tao Lin Haohan Li Mingzi Sun Chenliang Su Bolong Huang Kian Ping Loh 2022Nano Research2022,15,3:0
7Comparative metabolomics provides novel insights into the basis of petiole color differences in celery(Apium graveolens L.)显示文摘Plant metabolites are important for plant development and human health.Plants of celery(Apium graveolens L.)with different-colored petioles have been formed in the course of long-term evolution.However,the composition,content distribution,and mechanisms of accumulation of metabolites in different-colored petioles remain elusive.Using ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry(UHPLC-MS/MS),1159 metabolites,including 100 lipids,72 organic acids and derivatives,83 phenylpropanoids and polyketides,and several alkaloids and terpenoids,were quantified in four celery cultivars,each with a different petiole color.There were significant differences in the types and contents of metabolites in celery with different-colored petioles,with the most striking difference between green celery and purple celery,followed by white celery and green celery.Annotated analysis of metabolic pathways showed that the metabolites of the different-colored petioles were significantly enriched in biosynthetic pathways such as anthocyanin,flavonoid,and chlorophyll pathways,suggesting that these metabolic pathways may play a key role in determining petiole color in celery.The content of chlorophyll in green celery was significantly higher than that in other celery cultivars,yellow celery was rich in carotenoids,and the content of anthocyanin in purple celery was significantly higher than that in the other celery cultivars.The color of the celery petioles was significantly correlated with the content of related metabolites.Among the four celery cultivars,the metabolites of the anthocyanin biosynthesis pathway were enriched in purple celery.The results of quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(q RT-PCR)suggested that the differential expression of the chalcone synthase(CHS)gene in the anthocyanin biosynthesis pathway might affect the biosynthesis of anthocyanin in celery.In addition,HPLC analysis revealed that cyanidin is the main pigment in purple celery.This study explored the differences in the types and contents of metabolites in celery cultivars with different-colored petioles and identified key substances for color formation.The results provide a theoretical basis and technical support for genetic improvement of celery petiole color.Mengyao LI Jie LI Haohan TAN Ya LUO Yong ZHANG Qing CHEN Yan WANG Yuanxiu LIN Yunting ZHANG Xiaorong WANG Haoru TANG 2022Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2022,23,4:0
8Effects of Microbial Fertilizers in Improving Acidic Tobacco-planting Soil and Tobacco Leaf Quality显示文摘[Objectives]This study was conducted to improve acidic soil and enhance the quality of tobacco leaves.[Methods]The effects of different microbial fertilizers on improving acidic tobacco-planting soil and tobacco leaf quality were investigated through plot experiments.[Results]The application of microbial fertilizers could improve the pH value of acidic soil,and composite microbial agent A showed the best application effect.The application of bio-organic fertilizer was beneficial to improving the contents of available phosphorus and available boron in acidic soil.The application of composite microbial agent A was beneficial to improving the contents of available phosphorus and available potassium in acidic soil,and could promote the growth of tobacco plants and improve the economic traits of flue-cured tobacco and the coordination of chemical components in tobacco leaves.The application of composite microbial agent B led to a downward trend in the content of available boron in acidic soil.The application of composite microbial agent B could promote the absorption of nutrients by tobacco plants,and improve their disease resistance and the quality of tobacco leaves.Due to the differences in functional microorganisms contained,the application effects of different microbial fertilizers in improving acidic tobacco-planting soil and improving tobacco leaf quality varied.Overall,the application of microbial fertilizers could increase soil pH,activate soil nutrients,promote tobacco growth,enhance disease resistance,increase tobacco output value,and improve tobacco quality.Microbial fertilizers have good application prospects in improving acidic soil and improving tobacco quality.[Conclusions]The application of microbial fertilizers to improve acidic tobacco-planting soil can ensure the normal growth and development of tobacco plants and the improvement of tobacco leaf quality,achieving high-quality and sustainable development of Zhaotong tobacco.Xia NI Shungang SHEN Xianyi ZENG Dewen LI Yeming FU Min CHEN Chaokai YU Libing QI Ying-guo RUAN Changchong ZI Haohan GONG Guangjun HU Mengsheng ZHANG Xu ZHANG Shu PENG Hongbing LI 2023Agricultural Biotechnology2023,12,2:0
