| 1 | The role and significance of Magnesium in modern day research-A review显示文摘Magnesium is one of the largely available elements in the earth’s crust. It has a low structural density with high specific strength. This unique material property has forced an increase in the use of magnesium and its alloys in various applications pertaining to industrial sector,automobiles, aerospace and biomedical. Since magnesium is a highly reactive metal, it is prone to higher rate of corrosion as compared to its counterparts. Thus, it is essential to analyze the corrosion behavior of magnesium and its alloys in its applications. An appropriate process is to be followed in the design and development of magnesium alloys which overcome the limitations of magnesium and enhance the desired material properties in accordance to their applications. This review paper summarizes the importance of magnesium and its material properties. The influence of various alloying elements on the mechanical properties of magnesium is reviewed. The broad classification of Mg alloys and their behavioral trends are detailed. The corrosion behavior of magnesium and the influence of corrosion products on the material characteristics of magnesium, in aqueous medium, are discussed. The manufacturing techniques of magnesium alloys along with the secondary techniques are also covered. The various applications and the limitations of magnesium in these applications are covered. A complete section is dedicated towards detailing the recent trends of magnesium(Mg) alloys, i.e., the biodegradable nature and applications of Mg alloys. The influence of biocorrosion on Mg alloys and techniques to overcome it have been deliberated. | 2 | Influence of heat treatment on the machinability and corrosion behavior of AZ91 Mg alloy显示文摘In the present study,AZ91 Mg alloy was heat treated at 410℃ for 6,12 and 24 h to investigate the influence of heat treatment on machinability and corrosion behavior.The effect of soaking time on the amount and distribution of Mg 17 Al 12(β-phase)was analyzed under the optical microscope.Microhardness measurements demonstrated the increased hardness with increased heat treatment soaking time,which can be attributed to the solid solution strengthening.The influence of super saturatedα-grains on reducing the cutting force(F z)with respect to increased cutting speed was observed as prominent.The corrosion behavior of the heat treated specimens was studied by conducting electrochemical tests.Surprisingly,corrosion rate of heat treated samples was observed as increased compared with the base material.From the results,it is evident that the machinability of AZ91 Mg alloy can be improved by producing super saturatedα-grains through heat treatment but at the cost of losing corrosion resistance. | Swetha Chowdary V Ravikumar Dumpala Anand Kumar S Kondaiah VV Ratna Sunil B | 2018 | Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2018,6,1: | 7 |
| 3 | Hepatoprotective activity of Hepax-A polyherbal formulation显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the hepatoprotective potential of Hepax,a polyherbal formulation,against three experimentally induced hepatotoxicity models in rats.Methods:Hepatoprotective activity of Hepax was studied against three experimentally induced hepatotoxicity models,namely, carbon tetrachloride(CCl_4),paracetamol and thiocetamide induced hepatotoxicity in rats. Results:Administration of hepatotoxins(CCl_4,paracetamol and thiocetamide) showed significant morphological,biochemical and histological deteriorations in the liver of experimental animals.
