| 1 | Radiofrequency combined with immunomodulation for hepatocellular carcinoma: State of the art and innovations显示文摘Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is the most common primary liver tumor and has been considered a very immunogenic tumor.The treatment with radiofrequency ablation(RFA)has been established as the standard ablative therapy for early HCC,and is currently recognized as the main ablative tool for HCC tumors<5 cm in size;however,progression and local recurrence remain the main disadvantages of this approach.To solve this clinical problem,recent efforts were concentrated on multimodal treatment,combining different strategies,including the combination of RFA and immunotherapy.This article reviewed the combination treatment of RFA with immunotherapy and found that this treatment strategy leads to an increased response of anti-tumor T cells,significantly reduces the risk of recurrence and improves survival rates compared to RFA alone.This review highlighted scientific evidence that supports the current recommendations for pre-clinical studies,and discuss the need for further research on this topic. | Adriano Carneiro da Costa Mikael Sodergren Kumar Jayant Fernando Santa Cruz Duncan Spalding Madhava Pai Nagy Habib | 2020 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2020,26,17: | 5 |
| 2 | Animal models of human colorectal cancer:Current status, uses and limitations显示文摘AIM: To make orthotopic colon cancer murine modelsa more clearly understood subject. The orthotopic tumor models have been found to be more relevant in replicating the human disease process as compared to heterotopic models, many techniques for making orthotopic colorectal murine models have been reported.METHODS: We evaluated the current literature for various reported orthotopic colon cancer models to understand their techniques, advantages and limitations. An extensive literature review was performed by searching the National Library of Medicine Database(Pub Med) using Me SH terms animal model; colon cancer; orthotopic model; murine model. Twenty studies related to colon cancer orthotopic xenograft model were evaluated in detail and discussed here. RESULTS: The detailed analysis of all relevant reports on orthotopic model showed tumor take rate between 42%-100%. While models using the enema technique and minimally invasive technique have reported development of tumor from mucosa with tumor take rate between 87%-100% with metastasis in 76%-90%.CONCLUSION: Over the years, the increased understanding of the murine models of human colon cancer has resulted in the development of various models. Each reported model has some limitations. | 4 | Systemic meta-analysis assessing the short term applicability of early conversion to mammalian target of rapamycin inhibitors in kidney transplant显示文摘AIM To consolidate the present evidence of effectiveness in renal functioning and graft survival following early introduction of mammalian target of rapamycin(m TOR) inhibitors with or without calcineurin inhibitors(CNIs) in renal transplant recipients.METHODS We analysed the current literature following PROSPERO approval describing the role of immunosuppressive agent, m TOR inhibitors as an alternative to CNI within six months of renal transplant by searching the Pub Med, EMBASE, Cochrane, Crossref, and Scopus using Me SH terms. RESULTS Six articles of early withdrawal of CNI and introduction of m TOR-inhibitors within six months of renal transplantation were sought. Glomerular filtration rate(GFR) and serum creatinine were significantly better in m TOR inhibitor group with equivalent survival at 12 mo, even though Biopsy Proven Acute rejection was significantly higher in m TOR-inhibitor group. CONCLUSION The evidence reviewed in this meta-analysis suggests that early introduction m TOR-inhibitors substantial CNI minimization. The m TOR inhibitors such as everolimus and sirolimus, due to their complementary mechanism of action and favourable nephrotoxicity profile; better glomerular filtration, lower serum creatinine with equivalent survival.
