1Hierarchical pore structure of activated carbon fabricated by CO_2/microwave for volatile organic compounds adsorption显示文摘An activated carbon pore-expanding technique was achieved through innovative reactivation by CO_2/microwave.The original and modified activated carbons were characterized by nitrogen adsorption–desorption,scanning electron microscopy,transmission electron microcopy,and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.The mesopore volume increased from 0.122 cm^3·g^(-1) to 0.270 cm^3·g^(-1),and a hierarchical pore structure was formed.A gradual decrease in the phenolic hydroxyl and carboxyl groups on the surface of activated carbon enhanced the surface inertia of granular activated carbon(GAC).The toluene desorption rate of the modified sample increased by 8.81% compared with that of the original GAC.Adsorption isotherm fittings revealed that the Langmuir model was applicable for the original and modified activated carbons.The isosteric adsorption heat of toluene on the activated carbon decreased by approximately 50%,which endowed the modified sample with excellent stability in application.The modified samples showed an enhanced desorption performance of toluene,thereby opening a way to extend the cycle life and improve the economic performance of carbon adsorbent in practical engineering applications.Wenjuan Qiu Kang Dou Ying Zhou Haifeng Huang Yinfei Chen Hanfeng Lu 2018Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2018,26,1:16

3Soil Salinity Changes Under Cropping with Lycium barbarum L.and Irrigation with Saline-Sodic Water显示文摘In order to utilize the wasted saline-sodic soils under shallow groundwater condition,a 3-year field study was carried in a field cropped with Lycium barbarum L.and irrigated by drip irrigation with saline groundwater under the water table depth of 30-40 cm in the northern Yinchuan Plain,China.Effects of cropping duration (one,two,and three years) on soil salinity,soil solution composition,and pH in three adjacent plots were investigated in 2008.Results showed that a high irrigation frequency maintained high soil water potential and subsequently facilitated infiltration and downward movement of water and salt in the crop root zone.Salt accumulated on the edges of the ridges,and soil saturated-paste electrical conductivity (ECe) was higher in the edge.Concentrations of Na+,Ca2+,Mg2+,Cl-,and SO42- in the soil increased with the soil depth as did the ECe,while HCO3- and pH had a relative uniform distribution in soil profile.As planting year increased,the ECe and soil salts in the field had a decreasing tendency,while in the root zone they decreased immediately after irrigation and then remained relatively stable in the following growing seasons.HCO3- and pH had little change with the planting year.Results suggested that the application of drip irrigation with saline water could ameliorate saline-sodic soil and provide a relatively feasible soil environment for the growth of salt-tolerant plant Lycium barbarum L.under the saline-sodic soils with shallow groundwater.DOU Chao-Yin KANG Yao-Hu WAN Shu-Qin HU Wei 2011Pedosphere2011,21,4:11

5Spinel/Post-spinel engineering on layered oxide cathodes for sodium-ion batteries显示文摘Sodium-ion batteries(SIBs)have attracted much scientific interest for use in large-scale energy storage systems because sodium is cheaper than lithium.However,the large radius of Na^(+)and barriers to Na^(+)transport result in sluggish kinetics and complicated structural distortion,leading to unsatisfactory rate capability and poor cycling stability.It therefore is essential to develop an electrode with enhanced kinetics and a stable structure during cycling to improve SIB performance.Among the various layered oxide cathodes,those with a spinel-like structure could play an important role in boosting electron transport because of their excellent intrinsic conductivity,including by coordinating with Na^(+)insertion/extraction.Moreover,thanks to the inherent high stability of the spinel-like phase,it could function as a stabilizer for host cathode structures.This review summarizes recent advances in spinel engineering on layered oxide cathodes to boost Na^(+)transport kinetics and provide structural stability to achieve high-performance SIBs,focusing particularly on post-spinel structures,layered oxide integrated spinel-like structures,and spinel transitions.The insights proposed in this review will be useful for guiding rational structural engineering and design to drive the development of new materials and chemistries in Na-based electrode materials.Yan-Fang Zhu Yao Xiao Shi-Xue Dou Yong-Mook Kang Shu-Lei Chou 2021eScience2021,1,1:6
6Electronically coupled layered double hydroxide/MXene quantum dot metallic hybrids for high-performance flexible zinc–air batteries显示文摘Precise control of the local electronic structure and properties of electrocatalysts is important for enhancing the multifunctionality and durability of electrocatalysts and for correlating the structure/chemistry with the catalytic properties.Herein,we report electronically coupled metallic hybrids of NiFe layered double hydroxide nanosheet/Ti3C2 MXene quantum dots deposited on a nitrogen-doped graphene surface(LDH/MQD/NG)for high-performance flexible Zn-air batteries(ZABs).As verified from the Mott-Schottky and Nyquist plots,as well as spectroscopic,electrochemical,and computational analyses,the electronic and chemical coupling of LDH/MQD/NG modulates the local electronic and surface structure of the active LDH to provide metallic conductivity and abundant active sites,leading to significantly improved bifunctional activity and electrocatalytic kinetics.The rechargeable ZABs with LDH/MQD/NG hybrids are superior to the previous LDH-based ZABs,demonstrating a high power density(113.8 mW cm^(-2))and excellent cycle stability(150 h at 5 mA cm^(-2)).Moreover,the corresponding quasi solid-state ZABs are completely flexible and practical,affording a high power density of 57.6 mW cm^(-2)even in the bent state,and in real-life operation of tandem cells for powering various electronic devices.Xiaotong Han Nannan Li Peixun Xiong Min Gyu Jung Yingbo Kang Qingyun Dou Qing Liu Jin Yong Lee Ho Seok Park 2021InfoMat2021,3,10:4
7A Cloud-edge Cooperative Dispatching Method for Distribution Networks Considering Photovoltaic Generation Uncertainty显示文摘With the increasing penetration of renewable energy generation,uncertainty and randomness pose great challenges for optimal dispatching in distribution networks.We propose a cloud-edge cooperative dispatching(CECD)method to exploit the new opportunities offered by Internet of Things(IoT)technology.To alleviate the huge pressure on the modeling and computing of large-scale distribution system,the method deploys edge nodes in small-scale transformer areas in which robust optimization subproblem models are introduced to address the photovoltaic(PV)uncertainty.Considering the limited communication and computing capabilities of the edge nodes,the cloud center in the distribution automation system(DAS)establishes a utility grid master problem model that enforces the consistency between the solution at each edge node with the utility grid based on the alternating direction method of multipliers(ADMM).Furthermore,the voltage constraint derived from the linear power flow equations is adopted for enhancing the operation security of the distribution network.We perform a cloud-edge system simulation of the proposed CECD method and demonstrate a dispatching application.The case study is carried out on a modified 33-node system to verify the remarkable performance of the proposed model and method.Lu Shen Xiaobo Dou Huan Long Chen Li Ji Zhou Kang Chen 2021Journal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy2021,9,5:4

9Health diagnosis of concrete dams using hybrid FWA with RBF-based surrogate model显示文摘Structural health monitoring is important to ensuring the health and safety of dams.An inverse analysis method based on a novel hybrid fireworks algorithm (FWA) and the radial basis function (RBF) model is proposed to diagnose the health condition of concrete dams.The damage of concrete dams is diagnosed by identifying the elastic modulus of materials using the displacement changes at different reservoir water levels.FWA is a global optimization intelligent algorithm.The proposed hybrid algorithm combines the FWA with the pattern search algorithm, which has a high capability for local optimization.Examples of benchmark functions and pseudo-experiment examples of concrete dams illustrate that the hybrid FWA improves the convergence speed and robustness of the original algorithm.To address the time consumption problem, an RBF-based surrogate model was established to replace part of the finite element method in inverse analysis.Numerical examples of concrete dams illustrate that the use of an RBF-based surrogate model significantly reduces the computation time of inverse analysis with little influence on identification accuracy.The presented hybrid FWA combined with the RBF network can quickly and accurately determine the elastic modulus of materials, and then determine the health status of the concrete dam.Si-qi Dou Jun-jie Li Fei Kang 2019Water Science and Engineering2019,12,3:3
