1Vertical distribution of aerosol optical properties based on aircraft measurements over the Loess Plateau in China显示文摘Vertical distributions of aerosol optical properties based on aircraft measurements over the Loess Plateau were measured for the first time during a summertime aircraft campaign, 2013 in Shanxi, China. Data from four flights were analyzed. The vertical distributions of aerosol optical properties including aerosol scattering coefficients(σsc), absorption coefficients(σab),Angstr?m exponent(α), single scattering albedo(ω), backscattering ratio(βsc), aerosol mass scattering proficiency(Q sc) and aerosol surface scattering proficiency(Q sc′) were obtained. The mean statistical values of σsc were 77.45 Mm-1(at 450 nm), 50.72 Mm-1(at 550 nm), and32.02 Mm-1(at 700 nm). The mean value of σab was 7.62 Mm-1(at 550 nm). The mean values ofα, βsc and ω were 1.93, 0.15, and 0.91, respectively. Aerosol concentration decreased with altitude. Most effective diameters(ED) of aerosols were less than 0.8 μm. The vertical profiles of σsc,, α, βsc, Q sc and Q sc′ showed that the aerosol scattering properties at lower levels contributed the most to the total aerosol radiative forcing. Both α and βsc had relatively large values, suggesting that most aerosols in the observational region were small particles. The mean values of σsc, α, βsc, Q sc, Q sc′, σab and ω at different height ranges showed that most of the parameters decreased with altitude. 2Auranofin mitigates systemic iron overload and induces ferroptosis via distinct mechanisms显示文摘Iron homeostasis is essential for health;moreover,hepcidin-deficiency results in iron overload in both hereditary hemochromatosis and iron-loading anemia.Here,we identified iron modulators by functionally screening hepcidin agonists using a library of 640 FDA-approved drugs in human hepatic Huh7 cells.We validated the results in C57BL/6J mice and a mouse model of hemochromatosis(Hfe^(−/−)mice).Our screen revealed that the anti-rheumatoid arthritis drug auranofin(AUR)potently upregulates hepcidin expression.Interestingly,we found that canonical signaling pathways that regulate iron,including the Bmp/Smad and IL-6/Jak2/Stat3 pathways,play indispensable roles in mediating AUR’s effects.In addition,AUR induces IL-6 via the NF-κB pathway.In C57BL/6J mice,acute treatment with 5 mg/kg AUR activated hepatic IL-6/hepcidin signaling and decreased serum iron and transferrin saturation.Whereas chronically treating male Hfe^(−/−)mice with 5 mg/kg AUR activated hepatic IL-6/hepcidin signaling,decreasing systemic iron overload,but less effective in females.Further analyses revealed that estrogen reduced the ability of AUR to induce IL-6/hepcidin signaling in Huh7 cells,providing a mechanistic explanation for ineffectiveness of AUR in female Hfe^(−/−)mice.Notably,high-dose AUR(25 mg/kg)induces ferroptosis and causes lipid peroxidation through inhibition of thioredoxin reductase(TXNRD)activity.We demonstrate the ferroptosis inhibitor ferrostatin significantly protects liver toxicity induced by highdose AUR without comprising its beneficial effect on iron metabolism.In conclusion,our findings provide compelling evidence that TXNRD is a key regulator of ferroptosis,and AUR is a novel activator of hepcidin and ferroptosis via distinct mechanisms,suggesting a promising approach for treating hemochromatosis and hepcidin-deficiency related disorders.Lei Yang Hao Wang Xiang Yang Qian Wu Peng An Xi Jin Weiwei Liu Xin Huang Yuzhu Li Shiyu Yan Shuying Shen Tingbo Liang Junxia Min Fudi Wang 2020Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2020,5,1:5
3Carbon Isotope Gradient of the Ediacaran Cap Carbonate in the Shennongjia Area and Its Implications for Ocean Stratification and Palaeogeography显示文摘The geochemistry and paleogeography of the Doushantuo succession in the Shennongjia area have been insufficiently studied. Here, we report on the carbon and oxygen isotope compositions of Ediacaran Doushantuo cap carbonates from four sections(Longxi, Muyu, Yazikou and Songluo) in the Shennongjia area. A large C-isotopic gradient(~5‰) between the Longxi and Songluo sections, here identified for the first time, is inferred to have been dynamically maintained by photosynthesis in surface waters and anaerobic oxidation of dissolved organic carbon(DOC) in deep waters. Spatial variation in C-isotope chemostratigraphy among the four sections was related to Marinoan post-glacial sea-level elevation changes. At Longxi, a positive δ^(13)C_(carb) shift below the horizon containing tepee-like structure resulted from intense photosynthesis during early regression. A negative δ^(13)C_(carb) shift within the tepee-horizon was triggered by sulfate reduction and freshwater mixing with ^(13)C-depleted dissolved inorganic carbon(DIC) during late regression. A positive δ^(13)C_(carb) excursion in the uppermost part of the cap carbonate was related to enhance primary productivity and organic matter burial during early transgression. At Muyu, the carbon isotopic variation tendency, which is similar to that at Longxi, may have been mildly influenced by the surface water environment. At Songluo, the positive δ^(13)C_(carb) excursion, up to-4‰ in the lower part of the cap carbonate, was probably associated with methanogenesis in deep waters during late transgression to early regression and subsequently disappeared due to decomposition of methane hydrate during late regression. At Yazikou, the consistently stable δ^(13)C_(carb) values around-4‰ indicate that the cap carbonate may have deposited at intermediate water depths. 4Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Galvanized Steel/AA6061 Joints by Laser Fusion Brazing Welding显示文摘Laser fusion brazing welding was proposed.Galvanized steel/AA6061 lapped joint was obtained by laser fusion brazing welding technique using the laser-induced aluminium molten pool spreading and wetting the solid steel surface.Wide joint interface was formed using the rectangular laser beam coupled with the synchronous powder feeding.The result showed that the tiny structure with the composition of a-Al and Al–Si eutectic was formed in the weld close to the Al side.And close to the steel side,a layer of compact Fe–Al–Si intermetallics,including the Al-rich FeAl3,Fe2Al5 phases and Al–Fe–Si s1 phase,was generated with the thickness of about 10–20 lm.Transverse tensile shows the brittlefractured characteristic along to the seam/steel interface with the maximum yield strength of 152.5 MPa due to the existence of hardening phases s1 and Al–Fe intermetallics.Junxia L Wuxiong Yang Shikai Wu Xudong Zhao Rongshi Xiao 2014Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2014,27,4:3

6Temporal and spatial changes in Bt toxin expression in Bt-transgenic poplar and insect resistance in field tests显示文摘Extensive planting of Bacillus thuringiensis(Bt)-transgenic plants economically benefits society; however, the potential risk they pose is receiving increasing attention. This study used enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and fluorescence quantitative PCR(RT-PCR) to monitor the temporal and spatial dynamics of the expression of Bt toxic protein in a forest of 6- to 8-year-old trees of transgenic insect-resistant poplar 741 for three consecutive years. The enrichment, distribution, and degradation of Bt toxic protein and the influence of transgenic poplars on the targeted insect population, Hyphantria cunea, were investigated. The content of Cry1Ac toxic protein dynamically changed in transgenic poplar. During the annual growth cycle, the content initially increased, then decreased in the long and the short branches of the crown and in the root system, peaking in August. During the study, the protein did not accumulate overtime. The m RNA transcription of gene Cry1Ac was almost consistent with the level of the protein, but transcription peaked in July. In the transgenic and control forestland, microscale levels of the Cry1Ac toxic protein were detected from the soil, but increased accumulation was not observed with the planting year of transgenic poplar. Meanwhile, Bt was isolated and detected molecularly from the soil in the experimental forestland. A systematic investigation of the density of H.cunea in the experimental transgenic poplar forest indicated that transgenic Pb29 poplar could resist insects to a certain degree. 7Quantitative Analysis of Faults in Huizhou Sub-basin, Pearl River Mouth Basin显示文摘This study used 2 D seismic profiles to investigate the Cenozoic evolution of faults in the Huizhou Sub-basin. It aims to define the basin structure style through describing the geometric features of the faults and quantitatively analyzing their activities. The results indicate that the boundary faults in the Huizhou Sub-basin display en echelon arrangement in plan view, which indicates that, it was caused by a kind of oblique extension. Calculating the fault slips shows long-term activities of faults occurred in the basin, and some boundary faults kept active after 5.5 Ma. The evolution history of the fault system is reconstructed. Initially, during the Eocene–Early Oligocene, mainly NNE-NE and NW trending faults and NE striking grabens and half-grabens formed in the basin and a series of faults system controlled the deposition. During the Late Oligocene–Early Miocene, the structural activities were relatively weak, the fault activity and the fault growth rate decreased sharply. Finally, in the late stage from Late Miocene to the present, the structure movement was re-activated, and some faults were also reactivated. 10High-resolution linkage and quantitative trait locus mapping using an interspecific cross between Argopecten irradians irradians(♀) and A. purpuratus (♂)显示文摘The bay scallop and Peruvian scallop are economically important species.Interspecific hybrids of these two scallops outperformed both of their parent species in multiple growth traits but exhibited decreased fertility,which provides good models for the study of heterosis and species divergence.Genetic mapping serves as a chromosomal-level framework to investigate the molecular mechanisms of hybridization and introgression.In this study,high-resolution linkage maps were constructed for the bay and Peruvian scallops with an interspecific hybrid family.The linkage map of the bay scallop covered over 98.9% of the whole genome with 2994 mapped markers and the average marker interval of 0.32 cM.For the Peruvian scallop,1585 markers were mapped with the average maker interval of 0.51 cM,covering 97.7% of the genome.Both the two linkage maps have 16 linkage groups,corresponding to the haploid chromosome number of the two species.Approximately,54.5% of markers exhibited significant deviation from the expected Mendelian ratio of segregation,lending in sights into the intrinsic incompatibility between the two species.QTLs related to growth and shell coloration were detected,which could explain 13.1%and 74.9% of the phenotypic variance,respectively.This represents important information for further evaluation.These findings are an important addition to the genomic resources for scallop genetic studies,and are especially useful for investigations on genomic incompatibility for hybridization,genome evolution of closely related species,and genetic enhancement programs in aquaculture.Junxia Mao Qifan Zeng Zujing Yang Haoyuan Pan Lijie Yao Zhenmin Bao Chunde Wang Shi Wang 2020Marine Life Science & Technology2020,2,2:1

13Engineering of a universal polymeric nanoparticle platform to optimize the PEG density for photodynamic therapy显示文摘Nanocarrier-mediated photodynamic therapy(PDT)has attracted extensive attention due to its locoregional therapeutic effect,minimal toxicity to normal tissues,and activation of immune system capability.However,it is still unclear how the physicochemical properties of nanocarriers affect their PDT therapeutic efficacies,which could be very different from those for chemotherapy.Herein,to demonstrate the effect of PEG density on PDT efficacy,we synthesized a series of random polyphosphoesters(PPEs)with different PEG contents by regulating the molar ratios of these monomers,and then these PPEs were used to prepare chlorin e6(Ce6)-loaded polymeric nanoparticles with tunable PEG density.Thereafter,the PDT efficacies of these nanoparticles were carefully and comprehensively evaluated.We demonstrate that the moderate PEG density(3.01 PEG/nm^2)of nanocarrier exhibited the best PDT therapeutic efficacy in a mouse model of pancreatic cancer due to its efficient balance of prolonged circulation and tumor cellular uptake.Xixi Yang Jie Li Yue Yu Junxia Wang Dongdong Li Ziyang Cao Xianzhu Yang 2019Science China Chemistry2019,62,10:1

15Astrocyte dysfunction in Parkinson's Check for updates disease:from the perspectives of transmittedα-synuclein and genetic modulation显示文摘Parkinson's disease(PD)is a common neurodegenerative disorder that primarily affects the elderly.While the etiology of PD is likely multifactorial with the involvement of genetic,environmental,aging and other factors,α-synuclein(α-syn)pathology is a pivotal mechanism underlying the development of PD.In recent years,astrocytes have attracted considerable attention in the field.Although astrocytes perform a variety of physiological functions in the brain,they are pivotal mediators ofα-syn toxicity since they internalizeα-syn released from damaged neurons,and this triggers an inflammatory response,protein degradation dysfunction,mitochondrial dysfunction and endoplasmic reticulum stress.Astrocytes are indispensable coordinators in the background of several genetic mutations,including PARK7,GBA1,LRRK2,ATP13A2,PINK1,PRKN and PLA2G6.As the most abundant glial cells in the brain,functional astrocytes can be replenished and even converted to functional neurons.In this review,we discuss astrocyte dysfunction in PD with an emphasis onα-syn toxicity and genetic modulation and conclude that astrocyte replenishment is a valuable therapeutic approach in PD.Changjing Wang Tongtong Yang Meiyu Liang Junxia Xie Ning Song 2021Translational Neurodegeneration2021,10,4:1

17Ancient DNA sequences from Coelodonta antiquitatis in China reveal its divergence and phylogeny显示文摘Ancient DNA data have supported a sister relationship between woolly rhinoceros and extant Sumatran rhinoceros.This relationship has been used to explore the divergent times for the woolly rhinoceros from their relatives.Complete and partial ancient DNA sequences of the mitochondrial cytochrome b(cyt b)gene were retrieved from bones of the late Pleistocene Coelodonta antiquitatis excavated from northern and northeastern China.The newly obtained sequences together with the European and northern Asian Coelodonta antiquitatis sequences from GenBank were used to estimate the evolutionary divergence time.Phylogenetic analyses showed the exchange of genetic information between the Chinese individuals and Coelodonta antiquitatis of north Asia,which also indicated a more recent evolutionary timescale(3.8–4.7 Ma)than previous molecular estimations(17.5–22.8 or 21–26 Ma)for woolly rhinoceros based on the fossil calibration of outgroups.This new timescale was more consistent with the fossil record of the earliest known genus Coelodonta.YUAN JunXia SHENG GuiLian HOU XinDong SHUANG XiaoYan YI Jian YANG Hong LAI XuLong 2014Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,3:1

19Thermally assisted switching in FePt single-domain particles with a Gaussian distribution of temperature显示文摘Magnetic nanoscale systems,including nanodots,nanofibers,nanowires and nanoparticles,are currently attracting great interest due to their interesting physical and promising applications in various fields,such as magnetic recording,sensors,target drugs and catalysts,as well as others.To achieve ultrahigh recording density,the method of heat assisted magnetic recording(HAMR) has been introduced.In this work,with the help of a Monte Carlo method,the mechanisms of thermally assisted magnetization switching in FePt single-domain particles driven by an external magnetic field are investigated,where the temperature in the particles is assumed to follow a Gaussian distribution.Two nucleation modes are observed for different distributions of temperature.One is initiated by many droplets,which join each other at the boundary of the system;the other is ini-tiated by many droplets at the boundary,but in growth tending toward the inner part of the system.An inverse proportional relationship between the metastable lifetime and the distribution is also found.TANG Ke YANG HongJie CAO LinHong YU HongTao LIU JinSong WANG JunXia 2011Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2011,54,7:1
