1China's lakes at present:Number,area and spatial distribution显示文摘Based on 11004 satellite images from CBERS CCD and Landsat TM/ETM,changes in the spatial characteristics of all lakes in China were determined following pre-established interpretation rules.This dataset was supported by 6843 digital raster images(1:100000 and 1:50000),a countrywide digital vector dataset(1:250000),and historical literature.Comparative data were corrected for seasonal variations using precipitation data.There are presently 2693 natural lakes in China with an area greater than 1.0 km2,excluding reservoirs.These lakes are distributed in 28 provinces,autonomous regions and municipalities and have a total area of 81414.6 km2,accounting for-0.9% of China's total land area.In the past 30 years,the number of newly formed and newly discovered lakes with an area greater than 1.0 km2 is 60 and 131,respectively.Conversely,243 lakes have disappeared in this time period.MA RongHua YANG GuiShan DUAN HongTao JIANG JiaHu WANG SuMin FENG XueZhi LI AiNong KONG FanXiang XUE Bin WU JingLu LI ShiJie 2011Science China Earth Sciences2011,54,2:79
2Organochlorine pesticides and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in water and sediment of the Bosten Lake,Northwest China显示文摘We evaluated organic pollution in Bosten Lake, Xinjiang, China, by measuring the concentrations and distributions of organochlorine pesticides(OCPs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs). Water and sediment samples were collected from 19 sites(B1–B19) in the lake for analysis. Our analytical results show that the concentrations of total OCPs in water ranges from 30.3 to 91.6 ng/L and the concentrations of PAHs ranges from undetectable(ND) to 368.7 ng/L. The concentrations of total OCPs in surface(i.e., lake bottom) sediment ranges from 6.9 to 16.7 ng/g and the concentrations of PAHs ranges from 25.2 to 491.0 ng/g. Hexachlorocyclohexanes(HCHs) and dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethanes(DDTs) account for large proportions of the OCPs. Low α- to γ-HCH ratios in both water and sediment samples indicate possible contributions from both industrial products and lindane. DDTs in water are probably from historical input, whereas DDTs in sediments are from both historical and recent inputs. Moreover, DDT products in both water and sediments were from multiple sources in the northwestern part of the lake(B11, B12, B13, and B14). Fugacity ratios for DDT isomers(p,p′-DDE and p,p′-DDT) at these sites were generally higher than equilibrium values. These results suggest that the input from the Kaidu River and diffusion of DDTs from the sediment to the water are responsible for DDT pollution in the water. Lower-molecular-weight PAHs, which originate primarily from wood and coal combustion and petroleum sources, represent the major fraction of the PAHs in both water and sediment samples. Our findings indicate that OCPs and PAHs in Bosten Lake can be attributed primarily to human activities. 5High-throughput phenotyping: Breaking through the bottleneck in future crop breeding显示文摘With the rapid development of genetic analysis techniques and crop population size,phenotyping has become the bottleneck restricting crop breeding.Breaking through this bottleneck will require phenomics,defined as the accurate,high-throughput acquisition and analysis of multi-dimensional phenotypes during crop growth at organism-wide levels,ranging from cells to organs,individual plants,plots,and fields.Here we offer an overview of crop phenomics research from technological and platform viewpoints at various scales,including microscopic,ground-based,and aerial phenotyping and phenotypic data analysis.We describe recent applications of high-throughput phenotyping platforms for abiotic/biotic stress and yield assessment.Finally,we discuss current challenges and offer perspectives on future phenomics research.Peng Song Jinglu Wang Xinyu Guo Wanneng Yang Chunjiang Zhao 2021The Crop Journal2021,9,3:10
6Characteristics of an early Holocene climate and environment from lake sediments in Ebinur region, NW China显示文摘The characteristics of climatic environment in the early Holocene epoch were studied through analyzing environmental proxies from the sediments in the Ebinur Lake--a closed one in the arid region. The pollen assemblage and other geochemical indices showed that, the temperature was somewhat low in the period (8.0-11.5 cal kaBP) as a whole, but in the early period (11.5-10.6 cal kaBP) the temperature was higher, in company with more precipitation. In the conversion period from the early Holocene epoch to the middle Holocene epoch (8.9-8.0 cal kaBP) the climate fluctuated remarkably. Particularly the three layers of peat sediment revealed the strong instability of climate in the early Holocene epoch in the Ebinur region. 7Effect of low-level laser therapy on tooth-related pain and somatosensory function evoked by orthodontic treatment显示文摘Low-level laser therapy(LLLT) may have an effect on the pain associated with orthodontic treatment. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of LLLT on pain and somatosensory sensitization induced by orthodontic treatment. Forty individuals(12–33 years old; mean ± standard deviations: 20.8 ± 5.9 years) scheduled to receive orthodontic treatment were randomly divided into a laser group(LG) or a placebo group(PG)(1:1). The LG received LLLT(810-nm gallium-aluminium-arsenic diode laser in continuous mode with the power set at 400 mW, 2 J·cm–2) at 0 h, 2 h, 24 h, 4 d, and 7 d after treatment, and the PG received inactive treatment at the same time points. In both groups, the non-treated side served as a control. A numerical rating scale(NRS) of pain, pressure pain thresholds(PPTs), cold detection thresholds(CDTs), warmth detection thresholds(WDTs), cold pain thresholds(CPTs), and heat pain thresholds(HPTs) were tested on both sides at the gingiva and canine tooth and on the hand. The data were analysed by a repeated measures analysis of variance(ANOVA). The NRS pain scores were significantly lower in the LG group(P = 0.01). The CDTs,CPTs, WDTs, HPTs, and PPTs at the gingiva and the PPTs at the canine tooth were significantly less sensitive on the treatment side of the LG compared with that of the PG(P < 0.033). The parameters tested also showed significantly less sensitivity on the nontreatment side of the LG compared to that of the PG(P < 0.043). There were no differences between the groups for any quantitative sensory testing(QST) measures of the hand. The application of LLLT appears to reduce the pain and sensitivity of the tooth and gingiva associated with orthodontic treatment and may have contralateral effects within the trigeminal system but no generalized QST effects. 8Study on cosmogenic activation in germanium detectors for future tonne-scale CDEX experiment显示文摘A study on cosmogenic activation in germanium was carried out to evaluate the cosmogenic background level of natural and ^(70)Ge depleted germanium detectors. The production rates of long-lived radionuclides were calculated with Geant4 and CRY.Results were validated by comparing the simulated and experimental spectra of CDEX-1B detector. Based on the validated codes, the cosmogenic background level was predicted for further tonne-scale CDEX experiment. The suppression of cosmogenic background level could be achieved by underground germanium crystal growth and high-purity germanium detector fabrication to reach the sensitivity requirement for direct detection of dark matter. 9The climatic and hydrological changes and environmental responses recorded in lake sediments of Xinjiang,China显示文摘Based on the analyses of environmental proxy data in lake sediments and instrumental records of Xinjiang in northwest China,the Holocene climate and hydrological variability and its environmental responses were studied in different time scales and regions. The results showed that the Holocene climate variability had obvious differences between the north and south of Xinjiang. In northern Xinjiang,the Holocene climate was dry in the early period,humid in the middle period,and then changed to dry in the late period. However,the climate transition times were not consistent in different regions. In southern Xinjiang,although there were many different types of climate change patterns inferred from different catchments,the warm and wet climate was recorded in most lake sediments in the middle Holocene. According to comparisons of some millennium scale records in lake sediments,the climate was warm and dry in the past 100 years. It can be concluded the climate showed a trend of aridity in Holocene. Especially in recent 50 years,the lake area has been shrinking rapidly because of the population growth and social economic development,which brings some environmental problems. 10Evidence from isotopic geochemistry as an indicator of eutrophication of Meiliang Bay in Lake Taihu, China显示文摘In this paper, Lake Taihu, a large shallow freshwater lake in China, is chosen as an example of reconstruction of eutrophication through the comparison between stable isotopes from dissolved nutrients and plants and water column nutrient parameters and integration of multiple proxies in a sediment core from Meiliang Bay including TN, TP, TOC, C/N, δ15N, δ13C, etc. Differences in aquatic plant species and trophic status between East Taihu Bay and Meiliang Bay are indicated by their variations in δ13C and δ15N of aquatic plants and δ15N of NH4+. A significant influence ofexternal nutrient inputs on Meiliang Bay is reflected in temporal changes in δ 15N of NH4+ and hydro-environmental parameters. The synchronous change between δ13C and δ15N values of sedimented organic matter (OM) has been attributed to elevated primary production at the beginning of eutrophication between 1950 and 1990, then recent inverse correlation between them has been caused by the uptake of 15N-enriched inorganic nitrogen by phytoplankton grown under eutrophication and subsequent OM decomposition and denitrification in surface sediments, indicating that the lake has suffered from progressive eutrophication since 1990. Based on the use of a combination of stable isotopes and elemental geochemistry, the eutrophication of Meiliang Bay in Lake Taihu could be better traced. 11Prediction of dissolved oxygen in a fishery pond based on gated recurrent unit (GRU)显示文摘Dissolved oxygen(DO),an important water quality indicator in aquaculture,affects the survival rate of aquatic creatures and the yield of aquatic production.Therefore,it is important to predict DO in fishery ponds for applying artificial aeration with low energy and cost.Recently,deep learning models,such as recurrent neural network(RNN),long short-term memory(LSTM),and gated recurrent unit(GRU),are often used to predict the trend of time series,but it is unclear which one of them is more suitable for prediction of DO in fishery ponds.In this work,the RNN model,LSTM model,and GRU model were used to build three DO predicting models.The performance of the three models were compared by mean absolute error(MAE),mean square error(MSE),mean absolute percentage error(MAPE),and the coefficient of determination(R2).The performance of RNN is worse result than LSTM and GRU.The four evaluation indicators of GRU are 0.450 mg/L,0.411,0.054,and 0.994,and the four indicators of LSTM are 0.407 mg/L,0.294,0.059,and 0.970,which shows that the performance of GRU is similar to LSTM,but the time cost and number of parameters used for GRU is much lower than LSTM.It is concluded that the GRU has overall better performance and can be applied to practical applications.Wuyan Li Hao Wu Nanyang Zhu Yongnian Jiang Jinglu Tan Ya Guo 2021Information Processing in Agriculture2021,8,1:4
12A deep learning-integrated phenotyping pipeline for vascular bundle phenotypes and its application in evaluating sap flow in the maize stem显示文摘Plant vascular bundles are responsible for water and material transportation, and their quantitative and functional evaluation is desirable in plant research. At the single-plant level, the number, size, and distribution of vascular bundles vary widely, posing a challenge to automatically and accurately identifying and quantifying them. In this study, a deep learning-integrated phenotyping pipeline was developed to robustly and accurately detect vascular bundles in Computed Tomography(CT) images of stem internodes. Two semantic indicators were used to evaluate and identify a suitable feature extraction network for semantic segmentation models. The epidermis thickness of maize stem was evaluated for the first time and adjacent vascular bundles were improved using an adaptive watershed-based approach. The counting accuracy(R^(2)) of vascular bundles was 0.997 for all types of stem internodes, and the measured accuracy of size traits was over 0.98. 13First results on ^(76)Ge neutrinoless double beta decay from CDEX-1 experiment显示文摘We report the first results on ^(76)Ge neutrinoless double beta decay from stage one of the China dark-matter experiment(CDEX).A p-type point-contact high-purity germanium detector with a mass of 994 g has been installed to detect neutrinoless double beta decay events, as well as to directly detect dark matter particles. An exposure of 304 kg d has been analyzed over a wide spectral band from 500 keV to 3 MeV. The average event rate obtained was about 0.012 counts per keV per kg per day over the 2.039 MeV energy range. The half-life of ^(76)Ge neutrinoless double beta decay derived based on this result is T^(0ν)1/2>6.4×10^(22) yr(90% C.L.). 15Analysis of Direct and Inverse Cavity Scattering Problems显示文摘Consider the scattering of a time-harmonic electromagnetic plane wave by an arbitrarily shaped and filled cavity embedded in a perfect electrically conducting infinite ground plane.A method of symmetric coupling of finite element and boundary integral equations is presented for the solutions of electromagnetic scattering in both transverse electric and magnetic polarization cases.Given the incident field,the direct problem is to determine the field distribution from the known shape of the cavity;while the inverse problem is to determine the shape of the cavity from the measurement of the field on an artificial boundary enclosing the cavity.In this paper,both the direct and inverse scattering problems are discussed based on a symmetric coupling method.Variational formulations for the direct scattering problem are presented,existence and uniqueness of weak solutions are studied,and the domain derivatives of the field with respect to the cavity shape are derived.Uniqueness and local stability results are established in terms of the inverse problem.Gang Bao Jinglu Gao Peijun Li 2011Numerical Mathematics(Theory,Methods and Applications)2011,4,3:2
16A robust three-stage approach to large-scale urban scene recognition显示文摘To obtain the ultimate high-level description of urban scenes, we propose a three-stage approach to recognizing the 3D reconstructed scene with efficient representations. First, we develop a joint semantic labeling method to obtain a semantic labeling of the triangular mesh-based representation by exploiting both image features and geometric features. The labeling is formulated over a conditional random field(CRF) that incorporates local spacial smoothness and multi-view consistency. Then, based on the labeled reconstructed meshes, we refine the man-made object segmentation in the recomposed global orthographic map with a graph partition algorithm, and propagate the coherent segmentation to the entire 3D meshes. Finally, we propose to generate a compact, abstracted geometric representation for each man-made object which is more visually appealing than the original cluttered models. This abstraction algorithm also leverages CRF formation to partition building footprints into minimal sets of structural linear features which are then used to construct profiles for large-scale scenes. The proposed recognition approach is able to robustly handle reconstructions with poor geometry and connectivity, thanks to the higher order CRF formulations which impose the ubiquitous regularity priors in urban scenes. Each stage performs an individual and uncoupling task. 17A high-accuracy method for simulating the XCO_2 global distribution using GOSAT retrieval data显示文摘A high-accuracy surface modeling(HASM)method based on the fundamental theorem of surfaces,is developed to simulate XCO_2 surfaces using the GOSAT retrieval XCO_2 data.Two tests are designed to investigate the simulation accuracy.The first test divides the existing satellite retrieval XCO2 data into training points and testing points,and simulates the XCO2 surface using the training points while computing the simulation error using the testing points.The absolute mean error(MAE)of the testing points is 1.189 ppmv,and the corresponding values of the comparison methods,Ordinary Kriging,IDW,and Spline are1.203,1.301,and 1.355 ppmv,respectively.The second test simulates the XCO_2 surface using all the satellite retrieval points and uses the TCCON(Total Carbon Column Observing Network)site observation values as the ture values.For the six typical TCCON sites,the HASM simulation MAE is 1.688 ppmv,and the satellite retrieval MAE at the same sites is 2.147 ppmv.These results indicate that HASM can successfully simulate XCO_2 surfaces based on satellite retrieval data.ZHAO MingWei ZHANG XingYing YUE TianXiang WANG Chun JIANG Ling SUN JingLu 2017Science China Earth Sciences2017,60,1:2
