| 1 | Climatic Warming and Humidification in the Arid Region of Northwest China: Multi-Scale Characteristics and Impacts on Ecological Vegetation显示文摘The climatic warming and humidification observed in the arid region of Northwest China(ARNC) and their impacts on the ecological environment have become an issue of concern. The associated multi-scale characteristics and environmental responses are currently poorly understood. Using data from satellite remote sensing, field observations, and the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project phase 6, this paper systematically analyzes the process and scale characteristics of the climatic warming and humidification in the ARNC and their impacts on ecological vegetation. The results show that not only have temperature and precipitation increased significantly in the ARNC over the past 60 years, but the increasing trend of precipitation is also obviously intensifying. The dryness index, which comprehensively considers the effects of precipitation and temperature, has clearly decreased, and the trend in humidification has increased. Spatially, the trend of temperature increase has occurred over the entire region, while 93.4% of the region has experienced an increase in precipitation, suggesting a spatially consistent climatic warming and humidification throughout the ARNC. Long-term trends and interannual changes in temperature and precipitation dominate the changes in climatic warming and humidification. Compared to interannual variations in temperature, the trend change of temperature contributes more to the overall temperature change. However, the contribution of interannual variations in precipitation is greater than that of the precipitation trend to the overall precipitation change. The current climatic warming and humidification generally promote the growth of ecological vegetation. Since the 1980 s,82.4% of the regional vegetation has thrived. The vegetation index has a significant positive correlation with precipitation and temperature. However, it responds more significantly to interannual precipitation variation, although the vegetation response varies significantly under different types of land use. The warming and humidification of the climate in the ARNC are probably related to intensifications of the westerly wind circulation and ascending air motions.They are expected to continue in the future, although the strength of the changes will probably be insufficient to significantly change the basic climate pattern in the ARNC. | 3 | Changes in terrestrial surface dry and wet conditions on the Loess Plateau(China) during the last half century显示文摘This paper,using a revised Penman-Monteith model,computed the terrestrial surface humidity index of the Loess Plateau(China) based on climatic factors of monthly mean temperature,maximum temperature,minimum temperature,relative humidity,precipitation,wind speed and sunshine duration observed on the plateau from 1961 to 2008.The temporal-spatial distribution,anomaly distribution and sub-regional temporal variations of the terrestrial surface dry and wet conditions were analyzed as well.The results showed a decreasing trend in the annual average surface humidity from the southeast to the northwest in the research area.Over the period of 1961-2008,an aridification tendency appeared sharply in the central interior region of the Loess Plateau,and less sharply in the middle part of the region.The border region showed the weakest tendency of aridification.It is clear that aridification diffused in all directions from the interior region.The spatial anomaly distribution of the terrestrial surface dry and wet conditions on the Loess Plateau can be divided into three key areas:the southern,western and eastern regions.The terrestrial annual humidity index displayed a significantly descending trend and showed remarkable abrupt changes from wet to dry in the years 1967,1977 and 1979.In the above mentioned three key areas for dry and wet conditions,the terrestrial annual humidity index exhibited a fluctuation period of 3-4 years,while in the southern region,a fluctuation period of 7-8 years existed at the same time. | YuBi YAO RunYuan WANG JinHu YANG Ping YUE DengRong LU Guo,Ju XIAO Yang WANG LinChun LIU | 2013 | Journal of Arid Land2013,5,1: | 14 |
| 4 | Distribution Features of the Nanhua-Sinian Rifts and their Significance to Hydrocarbon Accumulation in the Tarim Basin显示文摘On the basis of reprocessing 34 new two-dimensional spliced long sections(20,191 km) in the Tarim Basin, the deep structure features of the Tarim Basin were analyzed through interpreting 30,451 km of two-dimensional seismic data and compiling basic maps. Seismic interpretation and geological analysis conclude that the Nanhua-Sinian strata are a set of rift-depression depositional systems according to their tectonic and depositional features. The rift valley formed in the Nanhua Period, and the transformation became weaker during the late Sinian Period, which eventually turned into depression. From bottom to top, the deposited strata include mafic igneous, tillite, mudstone, and dolomite. Three major depocenters developed inside this basin during the rift stage and are distributed in the eastern Tarim Basin, the Awati area, and the southwestern Tarim Basin. Among them, the rift in the eastern Tarim Basin strikes in the near east-west direction on the plane and coincides with the aeromagnetic anomaly belt. This represents a strong magnetic zone formed by upwelling basic volcanic rock along high, steep normal faults of the Nanhua Period. Controlled by the tectonic background, two types of sedimentary systems were developed in the rift stage and depression stage, showing two types of sequence features in the Sinian depositional stage. The Nanhua System appears as a wedge-shaped formation, with its bottom in unconformable contact with the base. The rifting event has a strong influence on the current tectonic units in the Tarim Basin, and affects the distribution of source rock in the Yuertus Formation and reservoir beds in the Xiaoerbulake Formation in Lower Cambrian, as well as the gypseous cap rock in Middle Cambrian. The distribution features of the rifts have important and realistic significance for determining the direction of oil and gas exploration in the deep strata of the Tarim Basin. | 6 | Experimental Investigation on Ignition and Lean Blow-out Performance of a Multi-sector Centrally Staged Combustor显示文摘Improvement on extinction and pollution emission have become one of the most prominent research topics in gas turbine.It is widely recognized that the fuel/air mixture distribution in the recirculation zone is a critical factor in improving lean blow-out(LBO) and ignition.This paper proposed a new low emission scheme with fuel staged centrally and hybrid injector to improve flameout and emission.A relative small amount of fuel enters into central pilot airblast atomizer burner and then atomized by inner swirl air.The remaining majority of fuel is directly injected into vane channels of the primary swirler through a series of holes located on the sidewall of the main stage.Only pilot stage is fueled under ignition and lean flameout condition.The uniformity of fuel/air mixture distribution in the primary zone of the new design decreases NOX emission,meanwhile the fuel air mixture in pilot recirculation zone is locally rich to improve flameout and ignition.Experimental investigation was conducted to compare the new scheme with baseline design of dual-swirler in terms of LBO and ignition characteristics under the same condition in a multi-sector combustor.It is found that the fuel-air ratio of ignition limit and LBO decrease with the reference velocity increasing.The experimental results also show that the new scheme successfully improve lean blow-out and broaden the operation range of the combustor.The experimental results indicated that the centrally staged scheme can widen the operation boundary of the combustor and can provide guidance for design and optimization of combustion chamber. | LIU Fuqiang ZHANG Kaiyu MU Yong LIU Cunxi YANG Jinhu Xu Gang ZHU Junqiang | 2014 | Journal of Thermal Science2014,23,5: | 2 |

| 8 | The leaf extract of crofton weed(Eupatorium adenophorum)inhibits primary root growth by inducing cell death in maize root border cells显示文摘The extract of crofton weed(Eupatorium adenophorum) inhibits seed germination and weed growth;however,the physiological mechanisms underlying the effect of crofton weed extract on the modulation of seedling growth and root system development remain largely unclear.In this study,we investigated the effects of the leaf extract of crofton weed(LECW) on primary root(PR) growth in maize seedlings.Treatment with LECW markedly inhibited seed germination and seedling growth in a dose-dependent manner.Physiological analysis indicated that the LECW induced reactive oxygen species(ROS) accumulation in root tips,thereby leading to cell swelling and deformation both in the root cap and elongation zone of root tips,finally leading to cell death in root border cells(RBCs) and PR growth inhibition.The LECW also inhibited pectin methyl esterase(PME) activity,thereby decreasing the RBC number.Taken together,our results indicated that the LECW inhibited PR growth by inducing ROS accumulation and subsequent cell death in RBCs.The present study provides a better understanding of how the LECW modifies root system development and provides insight for evaluating the toxicity of crofton weed extracts in plants. | Jinhu Ma Xinxin Feng Xiaohuan Yang Yongheng Cao Weifeng Zhao Liangliang Sun | 2020 | Plant Diversity2020,42,3: | 2 |

| 11 | Investigation of the Effect of Pilot Burner on Lean Blow Out Performance of A Staged Injector显示文摘The staged injector has exhibited great potential to achieve low emissions and is becoming the preferable choice of many civil airplanes. Moreover, it is promising to employ this injector design in military engine, which requires most of the combustion air enters the combustor through injector to reduce smoke emission. However, lean staged injector is prone to combustion instability and extinction in low load operation, so techniques for broadening its stable operation ranges are crucial for its application in real engine.In this work, the LBO performance of a staged injector is assessed and analyzed on a single sector test section.The experiment was done in atmospheric environment with optical access. Kerosene-PLIF technique was used to visualize the spray distribution and common camera was used to record the flame patterns. Emphasis is put on the influence of pilot burner on LBO performance. The fuel to air ratios at LBO of six injectors with different pilot swirler vane angle were evaluated and the obtained LBO data was converted into data at idle condition. Results show that the increase of pilot swirler vane angle could promote the air assisted atomization, which in turn improves the LBO performance slightly. Flame patterns typical in the process of LBO are analyzed and attempts are made to find out the main factors which govern the extinction process with the assistance of spray distribution and numerical flow field results. It can be learned that the flame patterns are mainly influenced by structure of the flow field just behind the pilot burner when the fuel mass flow rate is high; with the reduction of fuel, atomization quality become more and more important and is the main contributing factor of LBO.
