Development of real-time laser-scanning system to detect tree canopy characteristics for variable-rate pesticide application显示文摘Improving pesticide application efficiency is increasingly important in orchard spraying. In this study,a laser-scanning system was designed to acquire gridding volumes of a tree to quantify the geometry characteristics of the tree canopy in real-time.A laser-scanning sensor mounted on a linear guide was utilized to measure the structure of a target tree canopy.A computer was used to receive measurement data from the laser scanner and obtain the movement distance of the laser-scanning sensor from a controller. An algorithm written with VC#program was designed to calculate gridding volumes of trees by recognizing valid measurement data from the laser scanner.Laboratory evaluations were conducted on three kinds of regular objects, and the maximum relative errors of section volumes of the cuboid, triangular prism and cylinder objects were 3.3%,7.9%and 9.4%,respectively,which illustrated that the algorithm could calculate the section volumes in different parts of the objects with high accuracy.A conifer tree and an apple tree were chosen to verify detecting accuracy of the laser-scanning system at variable speeds and grid sizes. The variation coefficients of total volumes for each kind of the tree were 0.078 and 0.041,respectively,which indicated that the laser-scanning system could be applied to provide the gridding volumes of different canopy densities in real-time with good reliability for guiding a variable-rate sprayer. | Cai Jichen Wang Xiu Song Jian Wang Songlin Yang Shuo Zhao Chunjiang | 2017 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2017,10,6: | 14
A draft sequence of the rice (Oryza sativa ssp. indica) genome显示文摘The sequence of the rice genome holds fundamental information for its biology, including physiology, genetics, development, and evolution, as well as information on many beneficial phenotypes of economic significance. Using a 'whole genome shotgun' approach, we have pro-duced a draft rice genome sequence of Oryza sativa ssp. in-dica, the major crop rice subspecies in China and many other regions of Asia. The draft genome sequence is constructed from over 4.3 million successful sequencing traces with an accumulative total length of 2214.9 Mb. The initial assembly of the non-redundant sequences reached 409.76 Mb in length, based on 3.30 million successful sequencing traces with a total length of 1797.4 Mb from an indica variant cultivar 93-11, giving an estimated coverage of 95.29% of the rice genome with an average base accuracy of higher than 99%. | 3 | Design and performance evaluation of a variable-rate orchard sprayer based on a laser-scanning sensor显示文摘To improve the precision spraying strategy and reduce excessive pesticide application in orchards,an air-assisted sprayer integrated with a laser-scanning system was developed to realize the toward-target variable-rate spraying. In the spray control system,a method of calculating canopy gridding volumes was designed to ensure that the canopy was divided into a uniform grid size,a variable-rate spray model was used in the flow rate decision software to control the spray output according to the canopy gridding volumes and travel speed, and a method of saving and accessing spray data was used to control the spray delay. The effects of different grid sizes and travel speeds on the spray performance were evaluated by quantifying spray coverage uniformity inside tree canopies. The results showed that spray coverage uniformity declined with increasing grid width from 0.14 to 0.28 m although the mean spray coverage on each target location showed no significant differences.Additionally, there were no significant variations in mean spray coverage at speeds of 1.0,1.2 and 1.4 m/s for a tested tree of 1.6 m width and at any experimental speeds for a tested tree of 1.3 m width, which indicated that the variable-rate sprayer could provide good spray coverage uniformity under various travel speeds with a canopy size limitation.Compared with the same sprayer without the variable-rate spray function, the intelligent sprayer prototype realized effective toward-target spraying and avoided overspraying while providing sufficient spray coverage. | Jichen Cai Xiu Wang Yuanyuan Gao Shuo Yang Chunjiang Zhao | 2019 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2019,12,6: | 2
Response of microbial biomass and bacterial community composition to fertilization in a salt marsh in China显示文摘The effects of nitrogen(N) addition on microbial biomass, bacterial abundance, and community composition in sediment colonized by Suaeda heteroptera were examined by chloroform fumigation extraction method, real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction, and denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis(DGGE) in a salt marsh located in Shuangtai Estuary, China. The sediment samples were collected from plots treated with different amounts of a single N fertilizer(urea supplied at 0.1, 0.2, 0.4 and 0.8 g/kg(nitrogen content in sediment) and different forms of N fertilizers(urea,(NH_4)_2SO_4, and NH_4NO_3, each supplied at 0.2 g/kg(calculated by nitrogen). The fertilizers were applied 1–4 times during the plant-growing season in May, July, August, and September of 2013. Untreated plots were included as a control. The results showed that both the amount and form of N positively influenced microbial biomass carbon, microbial biomass nitrogen, and bacterial abundance. The DGGE profiles revealed that the bacterial community composition was also affected by the amount and form of N.Thus, our findings indicate that short-term N amendment increases microbial biomass and bacterial abundance, and alters the structure of bacterial community. | MA Yuexin TAO Wei LIU Changfa LIU Jiao YANG Zhiping LI Jin LIU Jichen | 2017 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2017,36,6: | 2
Flocking shape analysis of multi-agent systems显示文摘In this paper,we consider the shape control in flocking behavior of a multi-agent system with a virtual leader.Besides the traditional flocking control terms, which include a gradient-based term,a velocity consensus term and a navigational feed-back in general,a new piecewise smooth neighbor-based local controller is added to regulate the configuration to the desired flocking shape. All agent velocities approach the desired velocity asymptotically, while collisions among agents can be avoided.Furthermore, based on the proved stability,we obtain three kinds of flocking shapes, such as those in a single line, vee shape or corner shape. Some numerical simulation results are provided to demonstrate theoretical issues. | YANG JiChen,LU QiShao &LANG XiuFeng Department of Dynamics and Control,Beihang University,Beijing 100191,China | 2010 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,3: | 2
Early changes to the extracellular space in the hippocampus under simulated microgravity conditions显示文摘The smooth transportation of substances through the brain extracellular space(ECS)is crucial to maintaining brain function;however, the way this occurs under simulated microgravity remains unclear. In this study,tracer-based magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)and DECS-mapping techniques were used to image the drainage of brain interstitial fluid(ISF)from the ECS of the hippocampus in a tail-suspended hindlimb-unloading rat model at day 3(HU-3)and 7(HU-7).The results indicated that drainage of the ISF was accelerated in the HU-3 group but slowed markedly in the HU-7 group. The tortuosity of the ECS decreased in the HU-3 group but increased in the HU-7 group, while the volume fraction of the ECS increased in both groups. The diffusion rate within the ECS increased in the HU-3 group and decreased in the HU-7 group. The alterations to ISF drainage and diffusion in the ECS were recoverable in the HU-3 group, but neither parameter was restored in the HU-7 group. Our findings suggest that early changes to the hippocampal ECS and ISF drainage under simulated microgravity can be detected by tracer-based MRI,providing a new perspective for studying microgravity-induced nano-scale structure abnormities and developing neuroprotective approaches involving the brain ECS. | Yajuan Gao Hongbin Han Jichen Du Qingyuan He Yanxing Jia Junhao Yan Hui Dai Bin Cui Jing Yang Xunbin Wei Liu Yang Rui Wang Ren Long Qiushi Ren Xing Yang Jiabin Lu | 2022 | Science China(Life Sciences)2022,65,3: | 2

Facile fabrication of paper-based flexible thermoelectric generator显示文摘Paper,as a foldable,pollution-free,and low-cost material, has become a suitable support substrate for producing flexible thermoelectric(TE)generators to realize waste heat recycling and the application of human-powered electronic devices. We propose a facile fabrication method to modify cellulose paper with inorganic TE powders via vacuum filtration, making a modified paper that possesses good thermoelectric properties.By connecting the modified paper to copper foils, flexible paper-based TE generators(PTGs)are fabricated. The obtained PTG with three units of P–N modules can generate an output voltage of∼41.2 mV at a temperature difference of 50 K.Based on this modified paper,a thermal sensor that responds to heat sources, such as fingers,is proposed with a rapid response time of 0.25 s.This work offers a promising strategy for the simple fabrication of PTGs,paving the way for achieving the commercial application of self-powered wearable electronics. | Zuoyuan Dong Hua Liu Xin Yang Jichen Fan Hengchang Bi Chaolun Wang Yonghua Zhang Chen Luo Xinqian Chen Xing Wu | 2021 | npj Flexible Electronics2021,5,1: | 1

Multi-stage anisotropic etching of two-dimensional heterostructures显示文摘Regarding the reverse process of materials growth, etching has been widely concerned to indirectly probe the growth kinetics, offering an avenue in governing the growth of two-dimensional(2D)materials.In this work,interface-driven anisotropic etching mode is demonstrated for the first time to be generally applied to 2D heterostructures. It is shown that the typical in-plane graphene and hexagonal boron nitride(h-BN)heterostructures follow a multi-stage etching behavior initiated first along the interfacial region between the two materials and then along edges of neighboring h-BN flakes and finally along central edges of hBN.By accurately tuning etching conditions in the chemical vapor deposition process, series of etched 2D heterostructure patterns are controllably produced.Furthermore, scaled formation of graphene and h-BN heterostructures arrays has been realized with full assist of as-proposed etching mechanism, offering a direct top-down method to make 2D orientated heterostructures with order and complexity.Detection of interface-driven multi-staged anisotropic etching mode will shed light on understanding growth mechanism and further expanding wide applications of 2D heterostructures. | Lin Li Jichen Dong Dechao Geng Menghan Li Wei Fu Feng Ding Wenping Hu Hui Ying Yang | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,6: | 0

Correlation between Helicobacter pylori infection and atherothrombotic stroke显示文摘Previous studies have demonstrated that Helicobacter pylori infection is associated with coronary atherosclerotic heart disease, but the correlation between Helicobacter pylori infection and ischemic stroke remains unclear. The present study assessed the effects of Helicobacter pylori infection on atherothrombotic stroke. This study included 115 individuals with atherothrombotic stroke, all of whom were patients receiving treatment at the Department of Neurology, Aerospace Central Hos-pital (Aerospace Clinical Medical College Affiliated to Peking University) in China, from March 2006 to July 2009. In addition, 131 controls without the history of cardiovascular disease, cerebrovascular disease or atherothrombosis were also enrolled in the study. Results show that the Helicobacter pylori-IgG positive rate was greater in the atherothrombotic stroke patients than in the controls, but the difference was not statistically significant (67.8% vs. 61.8%, OR = 1.301, 95%CI: 0.769–2.203, P = 0.327). After correction for potential risk factors for Helicobacter pylori infection and known risk factors for ischemic stroke, no significant difference was detected between them (OR = 1.278, 95%CI: 0.667–2.449, P = 0.459). These results indicate that there is no specific correlation between Helicobacter pylori infection and atherothrombotic stroke. | 14 | Preparation and immunoprotective effects of a virus-like particle candidate vaccine of the dominant epidemic D3 genotype coxsackievirus A6 in China显示文摘Coxsackievirus A6 of the D3a genotype(CVA6 D3a)is a primary pathogen causingmainland of China's hand, foot, and mouth disease(HFMD).Viral‐like particle(VLP)vaccines represent a potential candidate vaccine to prevent HFMD.This study collected Anti‐CVA6 D3a VLPs serum from BALB/c female mice immunized using CVA6 D3a VLPs.The neutralizing antibody levels were compared against the representative 14‐JX2018(D3a)and N4‐YN2015(D3b)strains between the antisera of different immune pathways. The immunoprotective effect of anti‐CVA6 D3a VLPs against these strains was monitored using pathological sections and immuno-histochemical results of lung and skeletal muscle tissues in seven‐day‐old Institute of Cancer Research(ICR)mice.Immunological protection against different branches of viruses was evaluated in 7‐day‐old(serum passive immune protection)and 14‐day‐old(VLPs active immune protection)neonatal ICR mice models.Serum‐neutralizing antibody levels were positively correlated with the number of immunizations and higher against 14‐JX2018 than against N4‐YN2015.Furthermore,these levels were significantly higher with abdominal injection than intramuscular injection. The immunized serum of 7‐day‐old ICR mice inoculated three times was 100%protected against CVA6 D3a 14‐JX2018(lethal titer:106.25 TCID 50)and CVA6 D3b N4‐YN2015(lethal titer:105.25TCID 50)fatal attacks, respectively. For ICR mice that have completed two active immunizations for 14 days, both CVA6 D3a 14‐JX2015(challenge titer:108.25 TCID 50)and CVA6 D3b N4‐YN2015(challenge titer:107.25 TCID 50)were used for the challenge, and the mice were able to survive.Overall, the CVA6 D3a VLPs prepared in this study are a potential vaccine candidate for CVA6,as it has the optimal protective effect against both CVA6 D3a and D3b evolutionary branches viruses. | Xiaoliang Li Xizhu Xu Jichen Li Huanhuan Lu Congcong Wang Rui Wang Jinbo Xiao Ying Liu Yang Song Jingdong Song Qiang Sun Yong Zhang | 2024 | Biosafety and Health2024,6,1: | 0
The spatial transcriptomic landscape of human gingiva in health and periodontitis显示文摘The gingiva is a key oral barrier that protects oral tissues from various stimuli.A loss of gingival tissue homeostasis causes periodontitis, one of the most prevalent inflammatory diseases in humans. The human gingiva exists as a complex cell network comprising specialized structures. To understand the tissue-specific pathophysiology of the gingiva,we applied a recently developed spatial enhanced resolution omics-sequencing(Stereo-seq)technique to obtain a spatial transcriptome(ST)atlas of the gingiva in healthy individuals and periodontitis patients.By utilizing Stereo-seq,we identified the major cell types present in the gingiva, which included epithelial cells, fibroblasts, endothelial cells, and immune cells,as well as subgroups of epithelial cells and immune cells. We further observed that inflammation-related signalling pathways, such as the JAK-STAT and NF-κB signalling pathways, were significantly upregulated in the endothelial cells of the gingiva of periodontitis patients compared with those of healthy individuals.Additionally,we characterized the spatial distribution of periodontitis risk genes in the gingiva and found that the expression of IFI16 was significantly increased in endothelial cells of inflamed gingiva. In conclusion, our Stereo-seq findings may facilitate the development of innovative therapeutic strategies for periodontitis by mapping periodontitis-relevant genes and pathways and effector cells. | Zongshan Shen Ran Zhang Yunjia Huang Jiayao Chen Mengjun Yu Chunhua Li Yong Zhang Lingling Chen Xin Huang Jichen Yang Zhengmei Lin Songlin Wang Bin Cheng | 2024 | Science China(Life Sciences)2024,67,4: | 0
