1An ultralow-energy negative cluster ion beam system and its application in preparation of few-layer graphene显示文摘We developed a cluster ion beam system that produces negative cluster beams of C 1-C 10 with ion current of 4.5 nA-50 A at extraction voltages ranging from 6 to 20 kV.The system uses the injector of a tandetron accelerator and was established by inserting an electrostatic scanner on its ion-optical line and modifying its Faraday cup into a substrate holder.Utilization of clusters enables ultrashallow ion implantation at energies as low as 600 eV/atom without deceleration.Small carbon clusters C 2 and C 4 were implanted into Ni/SiO 2 /Si substrates and following post-thermal treatment graphene was obtained.Raman spectroscopy showed characteristic 2D peaks with G-to-2D peak ratios revealing formation of 2-3 layers of graphene.The Raman data reveals clear effect of nonlinear cluster-surface interaction in ion beam synthesis of two-dimensional nanomaterials.WANG ZeSong ZHANG ZaoDi ZHANG Rui WANG ShiXu FU DeJun LIU JiaRui 2012Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,27:2
2Laser-driven plasma collider for nuclear studies显示文摘A novel method of initiating nuclear fusion reactions in a full plasma environment was suggested, and a proof-of-concept experiment was carried out with the D t D ! n t3 He reaction. In this new approach, two plasma jets generated by high-intensity lasers collide headon-head. The center-of-mass energy of the nuclei increases accordingly, and therefore, reaction products can be significantly enhanced, especially in the sub-Coulomb barrier ranges. As a result of the fusion reaction, up to 7:6 105 neutrons had been observed. 7High-energy-density plasma in femtosecond-laser-irradiated nanowire-array targets for nuclear reactions显示文摘In this work,the high-energy-density plasmas(HEDP)evolved from joule-class-femtosecond-laser-irradiated nanowire-array(NWA)targets were numerically and experimentally studied.The results of particle-in-cell simulations indicate that ions accelerated in the sheath field around the surfaces of the nanowires are eventually confined in a plasma,contributing most to the high energy densities.The protons emitted from the front surfaces of the NWA targets provide rich information about the interactions that occur.We give the electron and ion energy densities for broad target parameter ranges.The ion energy densities from NWA targets were found to be an order of magnitude higher than those from planar targets,and the volume of the HEDP was several-fold greater.At optimal target parameters,8%of the laser energy can be converted to confined protons,and this results in ion energy densities at the GJ/cm^(3) level.In the experiments,the measured energy of the emitted protons reached 4 MeV,and the changes in energy with the NWA’s parameters were found to fit the simulation results well.Experimental measurements of neutrons from 2H(d,n)3He fusion with a yield of(24±18)×10^(6)/J from deuterated polyethylene NWA targets also confirmed these results.Defeng Kong Guoqiang Zhang Yinren Shou Shirui Xu Zhusong Mei Zhengxuan Cao Zhuo Pan Pengjie Wang Guijun Qi Yao Lou Zhiguo Ma Haoyang Lan Wenzhao Wang Yunhui Li Peter Rubovic Martin Veselsky Aldo Bonasera Jiarui Zhao Yixing Geng Yanying Zhao Changbo Fu Wen Luo Yugang Ma Xueqing Yan Wenjun Ma 2022Matter and Radiation at Extremes2022,7,6:1

11Tuning Surface Spin Polarization of CoFeB by Boron Diffusion Detected by Spin Resolved Photoemission显示文摘Research of spin polarization of magnetic CoFeB thin films is of practical importance in spintronic applications.Here,using a direct characterization technique of spin-resolved photoemission spectroscopy,we obtain the surface spin polarization of amorphous Co_(40)Fe_(40)B_(20)thin films with different annealing temperatures from 100℃to 500℃prepared by magnetron sputtering.After high annealing temperature,a quasi-semiconductor state is gradually formed at the CoFeB surface due to the boron diffusion.While the global magnetization remains almost constant,the secondary electrons’spin polarization,average valence band spin polarization and the spin polarization at Fermi level from spin-resolved photoemission spectroscopy show a general trend of decreasing with the increasing annealing temperature above 100℃.These distinct surface properties are attributed to the enhanced Fe-B bonding due to the boron segregation upon surface after annealing as confirmed by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and scanning transmission electron microscopy with energy dispersive spectroscopy.Our findings provide insight into the surface spin-resolved electronic structure of the CoFeB thin films,which should be important for development of high-performance magnetic random-access memories.Qi Liu Xianyang Lu Chengrui Fu Jiarui Chen Zhe Zhang Yuting Gong Xinyue Wang Yu Yan Qinwu Gao Hui Li Xuezhong Ruan Yao Li Jun Du Jing Wu Liang He Bo Liu Rong Zhang Yongbing Xu 2023Chinese Physics Letters2023,40,8:0
12Laboratory study of astrophysical collisionless shock at SG-Ⅱ laser facility显示文摘Astrophysical collisionless shocks are amazing phenomena in space and astrophysical plasmas, where supersonic flows generate electromagnetic fields through instabilities and particles can be accelerated to high energy cosmic rays. Until now, understanding these micro-processes is still a challenge despite rich astrophysical observation data have been obtained. Laboratory astrophysics, a new route to study the astrophysics, allows us to investigate them at similar extreme physical conditions in laboratory. Here we will review the recent progress of the collisionless shock experiments performed at SG-Ⅱ laser facility in China. The evolution of the electrostatic shocks and Weibel-type/filamentation instabilities are observed. 13Programming the lifestyles of engineered bacteria for cancer therapy显示文摘Bacteria can be genetically engineered to act as therapeutic delivery vehicles in the treatment of tumors,killing cancer cells or activating the immune system.This is known as bacteria-mediated cancer therapy(BMCT).Tumor invasion,colonization and tumor regression are major biological events,which are directly associated with antitumor effects and are uncontrollable due to the influence of tumor microenvironments during the BMCT process.Here,we developed a genetic circuit for dynamically programming bacterial lifestyles(planktonic,biofilm or lysis),to precisely manipulate the process of bacterial adhesion,colonization and drug release in the BMCT process,via hierarchical modulation of the lighting power density of near-infrared(NIR)light.The deep tissue penetration of NIR offers us a modality for spatio-temporal and non-invasive control of bacterial genetic circuits in vivo.By combining computational modeling with a high-throughput characterization device,we optimized the genetic circuits in engineered bacteria to program the process of bacterial lifestyle transitions by altering the illumination scheme of NIR.Our results showed that programming intratumoral bacterial lifestyle transitions allows precise control of multiple key steps throughout the BMCT process and therapeutic efficacy can be greatly improved by controlling the localization and dosage of therapeutic agents via optimizing the illumination scheme.Shengwei Fu Rongrong Zhang Yanmei Gao Jiarui Xiong Ye Li Lu Pu Aiguo Xia Fan Jin 2023National Science Review2023,10,5:0

15Identification of Bulbocodin D and C as novel STAT3 inhibitors and their anticancer activities in lung cancer cells显示文摘Cancer stands as one of the predominant causes of mortality globally, necessitating ongoing efforts to develop innovative therapeutics. Historically, natural products have been foundational in the quest for anticancer agents. Bulbocodin D (BD) and Bulbocodin C (BC), two bibenzyls derived from Pleione bulbocodioides (Franch.) Rolfe, have demonstrated notable in vitro anticancer activity. In human lung cancer A549 cells, the IC50s for BD and BC were 11.63 and 11.71 μmol·L^(−1), respectively. BD triggered apoptosis, as evidenced by an upsurge in Annexin V-positive cells and elevated protein expression of cleaved-PARP in cancer cells. Furthermore, BD and BC markedly inhibited the migratory and invasive potentials of A549 cells. The altered genes identified through RNA-sequencing analysis were integrated into the CMap dataset, suggesting BD’s role as a potential signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) inhibitor. SwissDock and MOE analyses further revealed that both BD and BC exhibited a commendable binding affinity with STAT3. Additionally, a surface plasmon resonance assay confirmed the direct binding affinity between these compounds and STAT3. Notably, treatment with either BD or BC led to a significant reduction in p-STAT3 (Tyr 705) protein levels, regardless of interleukin-6 stimulation in A549 cells. In addition, the extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) was activated after BD or BC treatment. An enhancement in cancer cell mortality was observed upon combined treatment of BD and U0126, the MEK1/2 inhibitor.
