1Sonic hedgehog signaling in kidney fibrosis: a master communicator显示文摘The hedgehog signaling cascade is an evolutionarily conserved pathway that regulates multiple aspects of embryonic development and plays a decisive role in tissue homeostasis. As the best studied member of three hedgehog ligands, sonic hedgehog(Shh) is known to be associated with kidney development and tissue repair after various insults. Recent studies uncover an intrinsic link between dysregulated Shh signaling and renal fibrogenesis. In various types of chronic kidney disease(CKD), Shh is upregulated specifically in renal tubular epithelium but targets interstitial fibroblasts, thereby mediating a dynamic epithelialmesenchymal communication(EMC). Tubule-derived Shh acts as a growth factor for interstitial fibroblasts and controls a hierarchy of fibrosis-related genes, which lead to the excessive deposition of extracellular matrix in renal interstitium. In this review, we recapitulate the principle of Shh signaling, its activation and regulation in a variety of kidney diseases. We also discuss the potential mechanisms by which Shh promotes renal fibrosis and assess the efficacy of blocking this signaling in preclinical settings. 2Deformation behaviors of Cu bicrystals with an inclined twin boundary at multiple scales显示文摘Cu bicrystals of different sizes with a sole twin boundary(TB) inclined at 45?with respect to the loading direction were deformed under unidirectional and cyclic loading, respectively. It is found that the slip bands(SBs) parallel to the TB can be activated near the TB at all scales without obeying the Schmid's law.It is concerned with the local stress enhancement in the macroscale while it is more closely related to the scarce dislocation sources in the microscale. 3Rotational and translational domains of beta precipitate in aged binary Mg-Ce alloys显示文摘The structural evolution fromβ_(1)(Mg_(3)Ce)toβ(Mg_(12)Ce)precipitates,which takes place at the over-aged stage of binary Mg-Ce alloys,are investigated by high-angle annular dark-field scanning transmission electron microscopy.The structural transformation mainly occurs in the{111}_(β1)crystallographic planes,where the newly formedβlattices exhibit two categories of domain structures,namely rotational and translational domains.The rotational domain is composed of threeβdomains(β_(RA),β_(RB)andβ_(RC)),which are related by a 120°rotation with respect to each other around the 111_(β1)axis of theirβ_(1)parent phase.The{111}_(β1)crystallographic planes can provide four sets of sublattices with the same orientation for an initial nucleation ofβlattice.It leads to the formation of four translationalβdomains(β_(TA),β_(TB),β_(TC)andβ_(TD)),among which any two differ by a vector of 1/6112_(β1).We deduce theoretically that there exist twenty-fourβdomains during this transition.However,considering the interfacial misfit,only one-third of domains can grow up and eventually formsβribbon.Furthermore,a majority ofβribbons overlap partiallyβ_(1)plate,which is beneficial to relax interfacial strain amongβ,β_(1)andα-Mg matrix(α/β/β_(1)).The configuration of multipleβdomains can effectively regulate interfacial misfit ofα/βandβ/β_(1),which are responsible for enhancing the hardness and strength of Mg-Ce alloy.Additionally,this study aims to provide some clues to improve the over-aged performance of magnesium alloys by constructingβdomains and optimizing theα/β/β_(1)interface.B.Z.Sun H.X.Zhang Y.Dong J.X.Ren Y.Tian G.M.Xie J.Tan Y.H.Sun Na Xiao 2021Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2021,9,3:2
4Strengthening and deformation mechanism of high-strength CrMnFeCoNi high entropy alloy prepared by powder metallurgy显示文摘Multiphase CrMnFeCoNi high-entropy alloys(HEAs)were prepared by a powder metallurgy process com-bining mechanical alloying(MA)and vacuum hot-pressing sintering(HPS).The single-phase face-centered cubic(FCC)HEA powder prepared by MA was sintered into a bulk HEA specimen containing FCC phase matrix along with precipitated M 23 C 6 phase and nanoscaleσphase particles.When the sintering temper-ature was 1223 K,the ultimate strength reaches 1300±11.6 MPa,and the elongation exceeds 4%±0.6%.Microstructural characterization reveals that the formation of nanoscale particles and deformation twins play critical roles in improving the strain hardening(SH)ability.Prolonging the MA time promoted the formation of the precipitated phase and enhanced the SH ability by increasing the number of precip-itated particles.The SH capacity increases significantly with increasing sintering temperature,which is attributed to a significant enhancement in the twinning capacity due to grain growth and the reduced number ofσphase particles.Through systematic studies,the planar glide of dislocations was found to be the main mode of deformation,while deformation twinning appeared as an auxiliary deformation mode when the twinning stress was reached.Although the formation of precipitates leads to grain bound-ary and precipitation strengthening effects,crack initiation is more prominent owing to increased grain boundary brittleness around the precipitated M 23 C 6 phase.The prominence of crack initiation is a contra-diction that must be reconciled with regard to precipitation strengthening.This work serves as a useful reference for the preparation of high-strength HEA parts by powder metallurgy.Y.Xing C.J.Li Y.K.Mu Y.D.Jia K.K.Song J.Tan G.Wang Z.Q.Zhang J.H.Yi J.Eckert 2023Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,1:1

12GO/MgO/Mg interface mediated strengthening and electromagnetic interference shielding in AZ31 composite显示文摘More requirements of electromagnetic interference(EMI) shielding performance are put forward for lightweight structural materials due to the development of aerospace and 5G communications. Herein, graphene oxide(GO) decorated with SnO_(2) coating is introduced as reinforcement into AZ31 Mg alloy. During the smelting process, the MgO layer is in situ gernerated at interface between GO and the molten Mg alloy matrix by consuming SnO_(2). In the solid state, such kind of interface structure can improve the GO-Mg interface bonding intensity,also significantly generate stacking faults. The AZ31 composite reinfoced by trace modified GO(0.1 wt%) exhibits high ultimate strength and almost the same elongation with AZ31 alloy. Compared with AZ31 alloy, the yield strength and ultimate tensile strength of composite are increased by 33.5% and 23.7%, respectively. Meanwhile, the multi-level electromagnetic reflection from the multi-layer structure of GO and the interface polarization caused by the MgO mid-layer can significantly improve EMI shielding performance. 13Efficiency-enhanced reflective nanosieve holograms显示文摘Photon nanosieves,as amplitude-type metasurfaces,have been demonstrated usually in a transmission mode for optical super-focusing,display,and holography,but the sieves with subwavelength size constrain optical transmission,thus leading to low efficiency.Here,we report reflective photon nanosieves that consist of metallic meta-mirrors sitting on a trans-parent quartz substrate.Upon illumination,these meta-mirrors offer the reflectance of〜50%,which is higher than the transmission of visible light through diameter-identical nanoholes.Benefiting from this configuration,a meta-mirror-based reflective hologram has been demonstrated with good consistence between theoretical and experimental results over the broadband spectrum from 500 nm to 650 nm,meanwhile exhibiting total efficiency of〜7%.Additionally,if an additional high-reflectance layer is employed below these meta-mirrors,the efficiency can be enhanced further for optical anti-counterfeiting.Samia Osman Hamid Mohammed 赵东 Syed Yasir Azeem Xiaoming Goh Shawn J.Tan Jinghua Teng 黄坤 2022Chinese Optics Letters2022,20,5:0
