1Seasonal Development of Microbial Activity in Soils of Northern Norway显示文摘Seasonal development of soil microbial activity and bacterial biomass in sub-polar regions was investigated to determine the impacts of biotic and abiotic factors, such as organic matter content, temperature and moisture. The study was performed during spring thaw from three cultivated meadows and two non-cultivated forest sites near Alta, in northern Norway. Samples from all five sites showed increasing respiration rates directly after the spring thaw with soil respiration activity best related to soil organic matter content. However, distributions of bacteria] biomass showed fewer similarities to these two parameters. This could be explained by variations of litter exploitation through the biomass. Microbial activity started immediately after the thaw while root growth had a longer time lag. An influence of root development on soil microbes was proposed for sites where microorganisms and roots had a tight relationship caused by a more intensive root structure. Also a reduction of microbial activity due to soil compaction in the samples from a wheel track could not be observed under laboratory conditions. New methodological approaches of differential staining for live and dead organisms were applied in order to follow changes within the microbial community. Under laboratory conditions freeze and thaw cycles showed a damaging influence on parts of the soil bacteria. 3不同放牧强度下羊草和大针茅草原土壤含水量的空间变化显示文摘近年来不合理的放牧体制造成内蒙古地区土壤退化严重.基于内蒙古草原生态系统研究站建立围封(UG79)、冬季放牧(WG)、持续放牧(CG)和过度放牧(HG)条件下羊草(Leymus chinensis)和大针茅(Stipa grandis)草原试验区研究不同放牧强度和植被覆盖条件下土壤含水量的空间变化.试验共分为5 个小区,分布为:LUG79、LWG、LHG、SUG79 和SCG.试验利用GPS 在每个小区建立1 个长135 m,宽105 m,共计100 个测量点的空间区域,通过利用HH2 Moisture Meter测量土含水量并研究其空间变化情况.结果表明:降水是引起区域土壤含水量变化的主要因素,是引起土壤含水量空间变异的关键因子.在羊草区,LWG 土壤含水量(0.29-0.05 cm^3·cm^-3)高于LUG79(0.24-0.03 cm^3·cm^-3),而LHG 由于过度放牧导致最小的土壤含水量(0.21-0.01 cm^3·cm^-3).在大针茅区SCG 土壤含水量(0.28-0.07 cm^3·cm^-3)要大于SUG79 区(0.27-0.05cm^3·cm^-3).相较于围封而言,SCG 和LWG 区在适度的持续放牧与冬季放牧方式下能增强土壤对水分的保持能力,说明适度的放牧强度能增加土壤含水量.在围封区域SUG79 区的土壤含水量高于LUG79 区的土壤含水量.从地统计分析结果看,每个试验区的土壤含水量空间分布均具有-定的稳定性,其空间结构比均高于97%.但两个围封的UG79 区土壤含水量空间分布比放牧的CG、WG 和HG 试验区更稳定,说明放牧对土壤含水量空间分布的稳定性有一定破坏作用.甘磊 马蕊 彭扬建 彭新华 莫春梦 Rainer Horn 2015生态环境学报2015,24,8:12

7Soil Wettability as Affected by Soil Characteristics and Land Use显示文摘Depth distribution of soil wettability and its correlations with vegetation type, soil texture, and pH were investigated under various land use (cropland, grassland, and forestland) and soil management systems. Wettability was evaluated by contact angle with the Wilhelmy plate method. Water repellency was likely to be present under permanently vegetated land, but less common on tilled agricultural land. It was mostly prevalent in the topsoil, especially in coarse-textured soils, and decreased in the subsoil. However, the depth dependency of wettability could not be derived from the investigated wide range of soils. The correlation and multiple regression analysis revealed that the wettability in repellent soils was affected more by soil organic carbon (SOC) than by soil texture and pH, whereas in wettable soils, soil texture and pH were more effective than SOC. Furthermore, the quality of SOC seemed to be more important in determining wettability than its quantity, as proofed by stronger hydrophobicity under coniferous than under deciduous forestland. 8Survival and an overview of decision-making in patients with cholangiocarcinoma显示文摘BACKGROUND:Cholangiocarcinoma is rare,accounting for approximately 3%of all gastrointestinal cancers.This study aimed to identify the survival rate among surgically treated and palliated patients,and secondly to identify parameters that could predict a curative resection. METHODS:A total of 121 patients,55 men and 66 women, median age 70 years(range 31-91),who had been treated for cholangiocarcinoma in the period of 1990-2005 were evaluated retrospectively. RESULTS:Curative resection was performed in 40 patients (33%),whereas 81 received palliative treatment(67%).16% (19 of 121)of the patients had an explorative laparotomy without tumour resection.Age above 65 years(OR 3.4;95% CI 1.4-8.4;P=0.008),weight loss(OR 8.5;95%CI 1.5-46; P=0.01)or tumour location(The resection rate of hilar cholangiocarcinoma was lower than that of intrapancreatic cancer.)(OR 2.7;95%CI 1.7-4.5;P=0.001)predicted palliative treatment.The adjusted 5-year survival rate of patients who received tumour resection and palliative treatment was 30%and 1.2%,respectively(P<0.001).The survival rate of patients who were subjected to hepatectomy (70%)was better than that of patients who had a local or distal resection(20%)(P=0.02). 10Soil Strength Characteristics Along an Arable Eroded Slope显示文摘Undisturbed soil cores were taken from different slope positions (upslope, backslope and footslope) and soil depths (0-15, 20-35 and 100-115 cm) in a soil catena derived from Quaternary red clay to determine the spatial changes in soil strength along the eroded slope and to evaluate an indicator to determine soil strength during compaction. Precompression stress, as an indicator of soil strength, significantly increased from topsoil layer to subsoil layer (P < 0.05) and was affected by slope position. In the subsoil layer (20-35 cm), the precompression stress at the footslope position was significantly greater than at the backslope and upslope positions (P < 0.05), while there were no significant differences at 0-15 and 100-115 cm. Precompression stress followed the spatial variation of soil clay content with soil depth and had a significant linear relationship with soil porosity (r2 = 0.40, P < 0.01). Also, soil cohesion increased with increasing soil clay content. The precompression stress was significantly related to the applied stress corresponding to the highest change of pore water pressure (r2 = 0.69, P < 0.01). These results suggested that soil strength induced by soil erosion and soil management varied spatially along the slope and the maximum change in pore water pressure during compaction could be an easy indicator to describe soil strength.PENG Xin-Hua ZHANG Bin ZHAO Qi-Guo R. 11Old vs new: Risk factors predicting early onset colorectal cancer显示文摘BACKGROUND Colorectal cancer(CRC)is the second leading cause of all cancer related deaths in the United States and Europe.Although the incidence has been decreasing for individuals’≥50,it has been on the rise for individuals<50.AIM To identify potential risk factors for early-onset CRC.METHODS A population-based cohort analysis using a national database,Explorys,screened all patients with an active electronic medical record from January 2012 to December 2016 with a diagnosis of CRC.Subgroups were stratified based on age(25–49 years vs≥50 years).Demographics,comorbidities,and symptom profiles were recorded and compared between both age groups.Furthermore,the younger group was also compared with a control group consisting of individuals aged 25-49 years within the same timeframe without a diagnosis of CRC.Twentydata points for CRC related factors were analyzed to identify potential risk factors specific to early-onset CRC.RESULTS A total of 68860 patients were identified with CRC,of which 5710(8.3%)were younger than 50 years old,with 4140(73%)between 40-49 years of age.Multivariable analysis was reported using odds ratio(OR)with 95%CI and demonstrated that several factors were associated with an increased risk of CRC in the early-onset group versus the later-onset group.These factors included:African-American race(OR 1.18,95%CI:1.09-1.27,P<0.001),presenting symptoms of abdominal pain(OR 1.82,95%CI:1.72-1.92,P<0.001),rectal pain(OR 1.50,95%CI:1.28-1.77,P<0.001),altered bowel function(OR 1.12,95%CI:1.05-1.19,P=0.0005),having a family history of any cancer(OR 1.78,95%CI:1.67-1.90,P<0.001),gastrointestinal(GI)malignancy(OR 2.36,95%CI:2.18-2.55,P<0.001),polyps(OR 1.41,95%CI:1.08-1.20,P<0.001),and obesity(OR 1.14,95%CI:1.08-1.20,P<0.001).Comparing the early-onset cohort versus the control group,factors that were associated with an increased risk of CRC were:male gender(OR 1.34,95%CI:1.27-1.41),P<0.001),Caucasian(OR 1.48,95%CI:1.40-1.57,P<0.001)and African-American race(OR 1.25,95%CI:1.17-1.35,P<0.001),presenting symptoms of abdominal pain(OR 4.73,95%CI:4.49-4.98,P<0.001),rectal pain(OR 7.48,95%CI:6.42-8.72,P<0.001),altered bowel function(OR 5.51,95%CI:5.19-5.85,P<0.001),rectal bleeding(OR 9.83,95%CI:9.12-10.6,P<0.001),weight loss(OR 7.43,95%CI:6.77-8.15,P<0.001),having a family history of cancer(OR 11.66,95%CI:10.97-12.39,P<0.001),GI malignancy(OR 28.67,95%CI:26.64-30.86,P<0.001),polyps(OR 8.15,95%CI:6.31-10.52,P<0.001),tobacco use(OR 2.46,95%CI:2.33-2.59,P<0.001),alcohol use(OR 1.71,95%CI:1.62-1.80,P<0.001),presence of colitis(OR 4.10,95%CI:3.79-4.43,P<0.001),and obesity(OR 2.88,95%CI:2.74-3.04,P<0.001).CONCLUSION Pending further investigation,these potential risk factors should lower the threshold of suspicion for early CRC and potentially be used to optimize guidelines for early screening.Aslam R Syed Payal Thakkar Zachary D Horne Heitham Abdul-Baki Gursimran Kochhar Katie Farah Shyam Thakkar 2019World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology2019,11,11:6
12Biochar-Induced Changes in Soil Resilience:Effects of Soil Texture and Biochar Dosage显示文摘Biochars are, amongst other available amendment materials, considered as an attractive tool in agriculture for carbon sequestration and improvement of soil functions. The latter is widely discussed as a consequence of improved physical quality of the amended soil.However, the mechanisms for this improvement are still poorly understood. This study investigated the effect of woodchip biochar amendment on micro-structural development, micro-and macro-structural stability, and resilience of two differently textured soils,fine sand(FS) and sandy loam(SL). Test substrates were prepared by adding 50 or 100 g kg^(-1) biochar to FS or SL. Total porosity and plant available water were significantly increased in both soils. Moreover, compressive strength of the aggregates was significantly decreased when biochar amount was doubled. Mechanical resilience of the aggregates at both micro-and macro-scale was improved in the biochar-amended soils, impacting the cohesion and compressive behavior. A combination of these effects will result in an improved pore structure and aeration. Consequently, the physicochemical environment for plants and microbes is improved. Furthermore, the improved stability properties will result in better capacity of the biochar-amended soil to recover from the myriad of mechanical stresses imposed under arable systems, including vehicle traffic, to the weight of overburden soil. 16Stem cell therapy in intracerebral hemorrhage rat model显示文摘Intracerebral hemorrhage(ICH) is a very complex pathology, with many different not fully elucidated etiologies and prognostics. It is the most severe subtype of stroke, with high mortality and morbidity rates. Unfortunately, despite the numerous promising preclinical assays including neuroprotective, anti-hypertensive,and anti-inflammatory drugs, to this moment only symptomatic treatments are available, motivating the search for new alternatives. In this context, stem cell therapy emerged as a promising tool. However, more than a decade has passed, and there is still much to be learned not only about stem cells, but also about ICH itself, and how these two pieces come together. To date, rats have been the most widely used animal model in this research field, and there is much more to be learned from and about them. In this review, we first summarize ICH epidemiology, risk factors, and pathophysiology. We then present different methods utilized to induce ICH in rats, and examine how accurately they represent the human disease. Next, we discuss the different types of stem cells used in previous ICH studies, also taking into account the tested transplantation sites. 18蒜臭素和大蒜素可缓解促氧化剂诱导的猪上皮细胞氧化应激和脂多糖刺激的细胞免疫调节功能显示文摘本实验以小肠上皮细胞(IPEC-J2)为模型,旨在评估是否蒜臭素(DADS)和大蒜素(DATS)可缓解氧化应激和内毒素应激。实验采用2×2×2因子设计,处理分别为0或18μM的DADS和DATS,0或100μM过氧化氢应激剂,0或10μg/mL内毒素应激剂(LPS),每个处理8个重复。细胞培养在含有DADS和DATS的培养基中18小时,LPS中6小时,过氧化氢中3小时。RT-PCR方法检测细胞因子白介素IL-8、肿瘤坏死因子TNF-α、紧密连接蛋白Claudin 1、occludin、ZO-1的基因表达量。测定跨上皮电阻值(TEER)、培养液上清中过氧化氢酶和IL-8蛋白的顶端分泌量。实验结果表明,LPS刺激可显著提高IPEC-J2中TNF-α和IL-8的基因表达量(P<0.01),而添加过氧化氢和DADS+DATS无显著差异。DADS+DATS有提高IPEC-J2中ZO-1基因表达量的趋势(P=0.08),DADS+DATS和过氧化氢处理没有影响TEER值,但LPS处理有降低TEER值的趋势(P=0.02)。过氧化氢处理显著降低了细胞过氧化氢酶活性(P<0.01),但DADS+DATS预孵会显著恢复其活性(P<0.01)。LPS处理显著提高IL-8的分泌(P<0.01),但DADS+DATS预孵其分泌量进一步增长(P<0.01)。基于当前研究结果得出,DADS+DATS处理能缓解过氧化氢引起的氧化应激,同时能改变LPS处理的IPEC-J2的IL-8分泌量。王丽 Horn N Miller G Ajuwon KM Adeola O 2017广东饲料2017,26,11:3
