| 3 | Effects of Short-Term Forest Bathing on Human Health in a Broad-Leaved Evergreen Forest in Zhejiang Province,China显示文摘Objective To investigate the effects of short-term forest bathing on human health.Methods Twenty healthy male university students participated as subjects and were randomly divided into two groups of 10.One group was sent on a two-night trip to a broad-leaved evergreen forest,and the other was sent to a city area.Serum cytokine levels reflecting inflammatory and stress response,indicators reflecting oxidative stress,the distribution of leukocyte subsets,and plasma endothelin-1 (ET-1) concentrations were measured before and after the experiment to evaluate the positive health effects of forest environments.A profile of mood states (POMS) evaluation was used to assess changes in mood states.Results No significant differences in the baseline values of the indicators were observed between the two groups before the experiment.Subjects exposed to the forest environment showed reduced oxidative stress and pro-inflammatory level,as evidenced by decreased malondialdehyde,interleukin-6,and tumor necrosis factor α levels compared with the urban group.Serum cortisol levels were also lower than in the urban group.Notably,the concentration of plasma ET-1 was much lower in subjects exposed to the forest environment.The POMS evaluation showed that after exposure to the forest environment,subjects had lower scores in the negative subscales,and the score for vigor was increased.Conclusion Forest bathing is beneficial to human health,perhaps through preventive effects related to several pathological factors. | MAO Gen Xiang LAN Xiao Guang CAO Yong Bao CHEN Zhuo Mei HE Zhi Huat LV Yuan Dong WANG Ya Zhen HU Xi Lian WANG Guo Fu YAN Jing | 2012 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2012,25,3: | 20 |

| 6 | Optimal central venous pressure during partial hepatectomy for hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘BACKGROUND:Low central venous pressure(CVP) affects hemodynamic stability and tissue perfusion.This prospective study aimed to evaluate the optimal CVP during partial hepatectomy for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).METHODS:Ninety-seven patients who underwent partial hepatectomy for HCC had their CVP controlled at a level of 0 to 5 mmHg during hepatic parenchymal transection.The systolic blood pressure(SBP) was maintained,if possible,at 90 mmHg or higher.Hepatitis B surface antigen was positive in 90 patients(92.8%) and cirrhosis in 84 patients(86.6%).Pringle maneuver was used routinely in these patients with clamp/unclamp cycles of 15/5 minutes.The average clamp time was 21.4±8.0 minutes.These patients were divided into 5 groups based on the CVP:group A:0-1 mmHg;B:1.1-2 mmHg;C:2.1-3 mmHg;D:3.1-4 mmHg and E:4.1-5 mmHg.The blood loss per transection area during hepatic parenchymal transection and the arterial blood gas before and after liver transection were analyzed.RESULTS:With active fluid load,a constant SBP ≥90 mmHg which was considered as optimal was maintained in 18.6% in group A(95% CI:10.8%-26.3%);39.2% in group B(95% CI:29.5%-48.9%);72.2% in group C(95% CI:63.2%-81.1%);89.7% in group D(95% CI:83.6%-95.7%);and 100% in group E(95% CI:100%-100%).The blood loss per transection area during hepatic parenchymal transection decreased with a decrease in CVP.Compared to groups D and E,blood loss in groups A,B and C was significantly less(analysis of variance test,P<0.05).Compared with the baseline,the blood oxygenation decreased significantly when the CVP was reduced.Base excess and HCO 3-in groups A and B were significantly decreased compared with those in groups C,D and E(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:In consideration of blood loss,SBP,base excess and HCO 3-,a CVP of 2.1-3 mmHg was optimal in patients undergoing partial hepatectomy for HCC. | Cheng-Xin Lin Ya Guo Wan Yee Lau Guang-Ying Zhang Yi-Ting Huang Wen-Zheng He Eric CH Lai | 2013 | Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2013,12,5: | 19 |
| 7 | Effectiveness of Different Waist Circumference Cut-off Values in Predicting Metabolic Syndrome Prevalence and Risk Factors in Adults in China显示文摘Objective To study the effectiveness of waist circumference cut-off values in predicting the prevalence of metabolic syndrome(MetS) and risk factors in adults in China. Methods A cross-sectional survey was condcuted in 14 provinces(autonomous region, municipality) in China. A total of 47 325 adults aged ≥20 years were selected by multistage stratified sampling, and questionnaire survey and physical and clinical examination were conducted among them. MetS was defined according to the International Diabetes Federation(IDF) criteria and modified IDF criteria.Results The age-standardized prevalence of MetS was 24.2%(22.1% in men and 25.8% in women) and 19.5%(22.1% in men and 18.0% in women) according to the IDF criteria and modified IDF criteria respectively. The age-standardized prevalence of pre-MetS was 8.1%(8.6% in men and 7.8% in women) according to the modified IDF criteria. The prevalence of MetS was higher in urban residents than rural residents and in northern China residents than in southern China residents. The prevalence of central obesity was about 30% in both men and women according to the ethnicity-specific cut-off values of waist circumference for central obesity(90 cm for men and 85 cm for women). Multivariate regression analysis revealed no significant difference in risk factors between the two MetS definitions. | 9 | Discriminated sgRNAs-Based SurroGate System Greatly Enhances the Screening Efficiency of Plant Base-Edited Cells显示文摘The development of CRISPR/Cas9-mediated base editing has made genomic modification more efficient. However, selection of genetically modified cells from millions of treated cells, especially plant cells, is still challenging. In this study, an efficient surrogate reporter system based on a defective hygromycin resistance gene was established in rice to enrich base-edited cells. After step-by-step optimization, the Discriminated sgRNAs-based SurroGate system (DisSUGs) was established by artificially differentiating the editing abilities of a wild-type single guide RNA (sgRNA) targeting the surrogate reporter gene and an enhanced sgRNA targeting endogenous sites. The DisSUGs enhanced the efficiency of screening base-edited cells by 3- to 5-fold for a PmCDA1-based cytosine-to-tyrosine base editor (PCBE), and 2.5- to 6.5-fold for an adenine base editor (ABE) at endogenous targets. These targets showed editing efficiencies of <25% in the conventional systems. The DisSUGs greatly enhanced the frequency of homozygous substitutions and expanded the activity window slightly for both a PCBE and an ABE. Analyses of the total number of single-nucleotide variants from whole-genome sequencing revealed that, compared with the no-enrichment PCBE strategy, the DisSUGs did not alter the frequency of genome-wide sgRNA-independent off-target mutations, but slightly increased the frequency of target-dependent off-target mutations. | 12 | Potential predictors for mental stress-induced myocardial ischemia in patients with coronary artery disease显示文摘Background: Mental stress-induced myocardial ischemia (MSIMI) is closely associated with adverse cardiac events in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) and we aimed to determine whether biomarkers and blood pressure could be potential predictors of MSIMI. Methods: This study enrolled 82 patients with documented CAD between June 1, 2017 and November 9, 2017. Patient blood samples were obtained at resting period and at the end of mental arithmetic. Then, patients were assigned to MSIMI positive group and MSIMI negative group. The main statistical methods included linear regression, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves, and logistic regression. Results: Patients with CAD with MSIMI had significantly greater median resting N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP, 141.02 [45.85–202.76] pg/mL vs. 57.95 [27.06–117.64] pg/mL;Z =-2.23, P = 0.03) and mean systolic blood pressure (SBP)(145.56 ± 16.87 mmHg vs. 134.92 ± 18.16 mmHg, Z =-2.13, P = 0.04) when compared with those without MSIMI. After 5-min mental stress task, those who developed MSIMI presented higher elevation of median post-stressor high sensitivity cardiac troponin I (hs-cTnI, 0.020 [0.009–0.100] ng/mL vs. 0.009 [0.009–0.010] ng/mL;Z =-2.45, P = 0.01), post-stressor NT-proBNP (138.96 [39.93–201.56] pg/mL vs. 61.55 [25.66–86.50] pg/mL;Z =-2.15, P = 0.03) compared with those without MSIMI. Using the ROC curves, and after the adjustment for basic characteristics, the multiple logistic regression analysis showed that patients presenting a post-stressor hs-cTnI ≥ 0.015 ng/mL had seven-fold increase in the risk of developing MSIMI (odds ratio [OR]: 7.09;95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.65–30.48;P = 0.009), a rest NT-proBNP ≥ 80.51 pg/mL had nearly eight-fold increase (OR: 7.85;95% CI: 1.51–40.82;P = 0.014), a post-stressor NT-proBNP ≥ 98.80 pg/mL had 35-fold increase (OR: 34.96;95% CI: 3.72– 328.50;P = 0.002), a rest SBP ≥ 129.50 mmHg had 11-fold increase (OR: 11.42;95% CI: 1.21–108.17;P = 0.034). | 13 | Magnetic resonance evaluation of transplanted mesenchymal stem cells after myocardial infarction in swine显示文摘Objectives To trace and evaluate intracoronary transplanted mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs) labeled with superparamagnetic iron oxide(SPIO) by using magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) in a swine model of myocardial infarction (MI).Methods MSCs were transfected with a lentiviral vector carrying the gene encoding green fluorescent protein (GFP) and labeled in vitro with SPIO.Two weeks after MI, swine were randomized to intracoronary transplantation of dual -labeled MSCs(n = 10),MSCs-GFP(n = 10) and saline(n = 5).MRI examination was performed with a 1.5T clinical scanner at 24 hours,3 weeks and 8 weeks after cells transplantation. Signal intensity(SI) changes,cardiac function and MI size were measured using MRI.Correlation between MR findings and histomorphologic findings was also investigated. Results The labeling efficiency at a combination of 25μg Fe/ml SPIO and 0.8 pi/ml Lipofectamine 2000 reached 100%.SPIO labeling did not affect GFP fluorescence and dual-labeling did not affect cell proliferation(P>0.05). Multipotentiality was not affected especially for cardiomyocyte-like cells differentiation.Cardiac cell marker of a-MHC and actinin were positively expressed by immunofluorescence staining after induction.SI on T2 * WI decreased substantial- ly in the interventricular septum 24 hours after injection of MSCs.The intensity of hypo-intense signals appeared to increase throughout the later time points.Changes in SI at 24 hours,3 weeks and 8 weeks were 52.98%±10.74%,21.53%±5.40%and 6.23%±2.01%,respectively(P<0.01).DE-MRI demonstrated both dual-labeled MSCSs and MSCs-GFP could dramatically reduce the size of MI and improve cardiac function. Histological data revealed that prussian blue stain-positive cells were found mainly in the border zone which also showed green fluorescence but negative for macrophage marker(CD68).Gross pathologic examination revealed that engrafted MSCs dramatically reduce the extent of necrotic myocardium and promote the regeneration of new,contractile myocardium along the subendocardial surface of the MI. | 15 | Neutralization of interleukin-17A alleviates burn-induced intestinal barrier disruption via reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines in a mouse model显示文摘Background:The intestinal barrier integrity can be disrupted due to burn injury,which is responsible for local and systemic inflammatory responses.Anti-inflammation strategy is one of the proposed therapeutic approaches to control inflammatory cascade at an early stage.Interleukin-17A(IL-17A)plays a critical role in inflammatory diseases.However,the role of IL-17A in the progression of burn-induced intestinal inflammation is poorly understood.In this study,we aimed to investigate the effect of IL-17A and associated pro-inflammatory cytokines that were deeply involved in the pathogenesis of burn-induced intestinal inflammatory injury,and furthermore,we sought to determine the early source of IL-17A in the intestine.Methods:Mouse burn model was successfully established with infliction of 30%total body surface area scald burn.The histopathological manifestation,intestinal permeability,zonula occludens-1 expression,pro-inflammatory cytokines were determined with or without IL-17A-neutralization.Flow cytometry was used to detect the major source of IL-17A^(+)cells in the intestine.Results:Burn caused intestinal barrier damage,increase of intestinal permeability,alteration of zonula occludens-1 expressions,elevation of IL-17A,IL-6,IL-1βand tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),whereas IL-17A neutralization dramatically alleviated burn-induced intestinal barrier disruption,maintained zonula occludens-1 expression,and noticeably,inhibited pro-inflammatory cytokines elevation.In addition,we observed that the proportion of intestinal IL-17A^(+)Vγ4^(+)T subtype cells(but not IL-17A^(+)Vγ1^(+)T subtype cells)were increased in burn group,and neutralization of IL-17A suppressed this increase.Conclusions:The main original findings of this study are intestinal mucosa barrier is disrupted after burn through affecting the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines,and a protective role of IL-17A neutralization for intestinal mucosa barrier is determined.Furthermore,Vγ4^(+)T cells are identified as the major early producers of IL-17A that orchestrate an inflammatory response in the burn model.These data suggest that IL-17A blockage may provide a unique target for therapeutic intervention to treat intestinal insult after burn. | Yajun Song Yang Li Ya Xiao Wengang Hu Xu Wang Pei Wang Xiaorong Zhang Jiacai Yang Yong Huang Weifeng He Chibing Huang | 2019 | Burns & Trauma2019,7,1: | 5 |
| 16 | New contributions to Goodyerinae and Dendrobiinae(Orchidaceae)in the flora of China显示文摘Eight new species from China,Cheirostylis chuxiongensis,C.yei,Myrmechis lingulata,M.longii,Bulbophyllum ximaense,B.xizangense,B.retusum and B.pulcherissimum,are described and illustrated.Cheirostylis chuxiongensis differs from C.thailandica by having 5-9 irregular and papillae-like calli on each side in the sac of the lip,epichile with entire lobes,petals narrowly obliquely obovate and an apex that is not recurved.Cheirostylis yei is easily distinguished from its relatives similar by having a long stem,pubescent ovary and sepals,epichile lobes with irregular and undulate margins,a subquadrate callus without teeth in the saccate hypochile.Myrmechis lingulata differs from M.chinensis by having a simple and lanceolate to ligulate lip,glabrous bracts and ovary,oblique and narrowly ovate petals.Myrmechis longii differs from M.pumila by having white-veined leaves,oblong-lanceolate epichile lobes,and viscidium attached to the middle of the caudicle.Bulbophyllum ximaense is easily distinguished from its relatives similar by having distant pseudobulbs,shorter scape,an inflorescence with 9-16 orange-red flowers,shorter lateral sepals with a long acuminate apex,incurved and tubular apical margins,a papillate lip disk and triangular-subulate stelidia.Bulbophyllum xizangense is easily distinguished from its relatives similar by having narrow lanceolate leaves,shorter inflorescence with 1-3 greenish-yellow flowers,falcate-ovoid lateral sepals,a lip with small lateral lobes and 3 keels at the base.Bulbophyllum retusum differs from B.spathulatum by having shorter inflorescence,peduncles with 2 tubular sheaths,dorsal sepals with a retuse apex,lateral sepals with lower edges that are connate to each other and free and divergent toward the apex,obovate petals with an acute or slightly retuse apex.Bulbophyllum pulcherissimum differs from B.lopalanthum by its 5-veined dorsal sepal,ovate-lanceolate lateral sepals,obliquely ovate-oblong petal,erose-toothed margins and obovate lip with a large,oblong basal callus,and an obtuse base.In addition,three species(Bulbophyllum frostii,B.raskotii and B.nematocaulon)are reported for the first time in China. | Ji-Dong Ya Ting Zhang Tirtha Raj Pandey Cheng Liu Zhou-Dong Han De-Ping Ye De-Ming He Qiang Liu Lan Yang Li Huang Rong-Zhen Zhang Hong Jiang Jie Cai | 2021 | Plant Diversity2021,43,5: | 5 |

| 20 | Synthesis and properties of p(NIPA-co-NVP)/clay hydrogels by radiation polymerization显示文摘In this study,hydrogels of P(NIPA-co-NVP)/clay were synthesized byγ-ray radiation.Different thermo-sensitive hydrogels were made under different experimental conditions such as dose,monomer ratio,and con- tent of clay.X-ray diffraction shows that the layer distance between Na-clays is changed from 1.6 to 2.7 nm because Na-clay pieces can be intercalated or exfoliated by HTMAB,and that between P(NIPA-co-NVP)/clay pieces is 3.4 nm.
