| 2 | NON-LOCAL MODELING ON MACROSCOPIC DOMAIN PATTERNS IN PHASE TRANSFORMATION OF NiTi TUBES显示文摘Recent experiments[ 1]revealed many new phenomena of the macroscopic domain patterns in the stress-induced phase transformation of a superelastic polycrystalline NiTi tube during tensile loading.The new phenomena include deformation instability with the formation of a helical domain,domain topology transition from helix to cylinder,domain-front branching and loading-path dependence of domain patterns.In this paper,we model the polycrystal as an elastic continuum with nonconvex strain energy[ 2]and adopt the non-local strain gradient energy to account for the energy of the diffiusive domain front.We simulate the equilibrium domain patterns and their evolution in the tubes under tensile loading by a non-local Finite Element Method (FEM).It is revealed that the observed loading-path dependence and topology transition of domain patterns are due to the thermodynamic metastability of the tube system.The computation also shows that the tube-wall thickness has a significant effect on the domain patterns:with fixed material properties and interfacial energy density,a large tube-wall thickness leads to a long and slim helical domain and a severe branching of the cylindrical-domain front. | Yongjun He Qingping Sun | 2009 | Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica2009,22,5: | 3 |

| 6 | Enrichment characteristics and sources of the critical metal yttrium in Zhijin rare earth-containing phosphorites, Guizhou Province, China显示文摘Yttrium(Y)is a critical metallic element that is used widely in modern scientific,technological,and industrial applications.Phosphorites in the Zhijin area of Guizhou Province,China,are famous for Y enrichment,but the enrichment characteristics and sources remain unclear.Previous studies suggested that the sources of rare earth elements(REEs,La-Lu)and Y(REYs,La-Lu+Y)were related to hydrothermal deposition.However,this study presents evidence refuting that hypothesis,with major and trace elemental data collected with quadrupoleinductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry(Q-ICPMS)analysis.These data show that Y in Zhijin REYscontaining phosphorites has a normal distribution and is particularly enriched relative to other REYs.The Y enrichment degree is different at different∑REY intervals.Specifically,the Y enrichment degree is higher at lower∑REY values and lower at higher∑REY values.The REYs-containing phosphorites show features of primary phosphorites.Both REEs and Y have good correlations with P2 O5 in the phosphorites with low REYs contents(total REYs<535 ppm),whereas at high REYs contents(total REYs>535 ppm),REEs have a good correlation with P2 O5 but Y does not.Inconsistent enrichment processes of REYs are suggestive of complex sources of Y.Thus,seafloor hydrothermal fluids were not the direct source of Y.Normal seawater mixed with terrestrial sources might have contributed to the origin of Y here.This study could lead to improvements in Y mineral resource explorations and the situation involving the global REYs supply crisis. | Xingxiang Gong Shengwei Wu Yong Xia Zhengwei Zhang Shan He Zhuojun Xie Jiafei Xiao Haiying Yang Qingping Tan Yi Huang Yuhong Yang | 2021 | Acta Geochimica2021,40,3: | 1 |

| 15 | Fiber-dominated Soft Actuators Inspired by Plant Cell Walls and Skeletal Muscles显示文摘Morphing botanical tissues and animal muscles are all fiber-mediated composites, in which fibers play a passive and active role, respectively. Herein, inspired by the mechanism of fibers functioning in morphing botanical tissues and animal muscles, we propose two sorts of fiber-dominated composite actuators. First, inspired by the deformation of awned seeds in response to humidity change, we fabricate passive fiber-dominated actuators using non-active aligned carbon fibers via 4D printing method. The effects of process parameters, structural parameters, and fiber angles on the deformation of the printed actuators are examined. The experimental results show that the orientation degree is enhanced, resulting in a better swelling effect as the printing speed increases. Then, motivated by the actuation mechanism of skeletal muscle, we prepare active fiber-dominated actuators using active polyurethane fibers via 4D printing and pre-stretching method. The effect of fiber angle and loading on the actuation mode is experimentally analyzed. The experimental results show that the rotation angle of the actuator gradually decreases with the angle from 45° to 60°. When the fiber angle is 0° and 90°, the driver basically stops rotating while shrinking along the loading direction. Based on the above actuation mechanisms, identical contraction behaviors are realized both in passive and active fiber-dominated soft actuators.
