1Hepatocellular Carcinoma and the Role of Liver Transplantation:A Review显示文摘Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is one of the leading causes of cancer deaths worldwide and liver transplantation(LT)is the only potentially curative treatment.Over the years,Milan criteria has been used for patient selection.There is ongoing research in this field with introduction of new biomarkers for HCC that can help guide future treatment.Furthermore,newer therapies for downstaging of the tumor are being implemented to prevent dropout from the transplant list.In addition,combination therapies for better outcome are under investigation.Interestingly,the concept of living-donor LT and possible use of hepatitis C virus-positive donors has been implemented as an attempt to expand the organ pool.However,there is a conflict of opinion between different centers regarding its efficacy and data is scarce.The aim of this review article is to outline the various selection criteria for LT,discuss the outcomes of LT in HCC patients,and explore future directions of LT for HCC.Therefore,a comprehensive PubMed/MEDLINE review was conducted.To expand our search,references of the retrieved articles were also screened for additional data.After selecting the studies,the authors independently reviewed them to identify the relevant studies.After careful evaluation 120 studies relevant to out topic are cited in the manuscript.Three tables and two figures are also included.In conclusion LT for HCC has evolved over the years.With the introduction of several expanded criteria beyond Milan,the introduction of bridging therapies,such as transcatheter arterial chemoembolization and radiofrequency ablation,and the approval of newer systemic therapies,it is evident that there will be more LT recipients in the future.It is promising to see ongoing trials and the continuous evolution of protocols.Prospective studies are needed to guide the development of a pre-LT criteria that can ensure low HCC recurrence risk and is not overly stringent,clarify the role of LDLT,and determine the optimal bridging therapies to LT.Haris Muhammad Aniqa Tehreem Peng-Sheng Ting Merve Gurakar Sean Young Li Cem Simsek Saleh A.Alqahtani Amy K.Kim Ruhail Kohli Ahmet Gurakar 2021Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2021,9,5:7
2Prevalence of advanced liver fibrosis and steatosis in type-2 diabetics with normal transaminases:A prospective cohort study显示文摘BACKGROUND Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)and type-2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)have an intricate bidirectional relationship.Individuals with T2DM,not only have a higher prevalence of non-alcoholic steatosis,but also carry a higher risk of progression to nonalcoholic steatohepatitis.Experts still differ in their recommendations of screening for NAFLD among patients with T2DM.AIM To study the prevalence of NAFLD and advanced fibrosis among our patient population with T2DM.METHODS During the study period(November 2018 to January 2020),59 adult patients with T2DM and 26 non-diabetic control group individuals were recruited prospectively.Patients with known significant liver disease and alcohol use were excluded.Demographic data and lab parameters were recorded.Liver elastography was performed in all patients.RESULTS In the study group comprised of patients with T2DM and normal alanine aminotransferase levels(mean 17.8±7 U/L),81%had hepatic steatosis as diagnosed by elastography.Advanced hepatic fibrosis(stage F3 or F4)was present in 12%of patients with T2DM as compared to none in the control group.Patients with T2DM also had higher number of individuals with grade 3 steatosis[45.8%vs 11.5%,(P<0.00001)and metabolic syndrome(84.7%vs 11.5%,P<0.00001)].CONCLUSION A significant number of patients with T2DM,despite having normal transaminase levels,have NAFLD,grade 3 steatosis and advanced hepatic fibrosis as measured by liver elastography.Jasbir Makker Hassan Tariq Kishore Kumar Madhavi Ravi Danial Haris Shaikh Vivien Leung Umar Hayat Muhammad T Hassan Harish Patel Suresh Nayudu Sridhar Chilimuri 2021World Journal of Gastroenterology2021,27,6:2
3International experience of carbon neutrality and prospects of key technologies:Lessons for China显示文摘Carbon neutrality(or climate neutrality)has been a global consensus,and international experience exchange is essential.Given the differences in the degree of social development,resource endowment and technological level,each country should build a carbon-neutral plan based on its national conditions.Compared with other major developed countries(e.g.,Germany,the United States and Japan),China's carbon neutrality has much bigger challenges,including a heavy and time-pressured carbon reduction task and the current energy structure that is over-dependent on fossil fuels.Here we provide a comprehensive review of the status and prospects of the key technologies for low-carbon,near-zero carbon,and negative carbon emissions.Technological innovations associated with coal,oil-gas and hydrogen industries and their future potential in reducing carbon emissions are particularly explained and assessed.Based on integrated analysis of international experience from the world's major developed countries,in-depth knowledge of the current and future technologies,and China's energy and ecological resources potential,five lessons for the implementation of China's carbon neutrality are proposed:(1)transformation of energy production pattern from a coal-dominated pattern to a diversified renewable energy pattern;(2)renewable power-to-X and large-scale underground energy storage;(3)integration of green hydrogen production,storage,transport and utilization;(4)construction of clean energy systems based on smart sector coupling(ENSYSCO);(5)improvement of ecosystem carbon sinks both in nationwide forest land and potential desert in Northwest China.This paper provides an international perspective for a better understanding of the challenges and opportunities of carbon neutrality in China,and can serve as a theoretical foundation for medium-long term carbon neutral policy formulation.Zheng-Meng Hou Ying Xiong Jia-Shun Luo Yan-Li Fang Muhammad Haris Qian-Jun Chen Ye Yue Lin Wu Qi-Chen Wang Liang-Chao Huang Yi-Lin Guo Ya-Chen Xie 2023Petroleum Science2023,20,2:2

11Recommender System for Configuration Management Process of Entrepreneurial Software Designing Firms显示文摘The rapid growth in software demand incentivizes software development organizations to develop exclusive software for their customers worldwide.This problem is addressed by the software development industry by software product line(SPL)practices that employ feature models.However,optimal feature selection based on user requirements is a challenging task.Thus,there is a requirement to resolve the challenges of software development,to increase satisfaction and maintain high product quality,for massive customer needs within limited resources.In this work,we propose a recommender system for the development team and clients to increase productivity and quality by utilizing historical information and prior experiences of similar developers and clients.The proposed system recommends features with their estimated cost concerning new software requirements,from all over the globe according to similar developers’and clients’needs and preferences.The system guides and facilitates the development team by suggesting a list of features,code snippets,libraries,cheat sheets of programming languages,and coding references from a cloud-based knowledge management repository.Similarly,a list of features is suggested to the client according to their needs and preferences.The experimental results revealed that the proposed recommender system is feasible and effective,providing better recommendations to developers and clients.It provides proper and reasonably well-estimated costs to perform development tasks effectively as well as increase the client’s satisfaction level.The results indicate that there is an increase in productivity,performance,and quality of products and a reduction in effort,complexity,and system failure.Therefore,our proposed system facilitates developers and clients during development by providing better recommendations in terms of solutions and anticipated costs.Thus,the increase in productivity and satisfaction level maximizes the benefits and usability of SPL in the modern era of technology.Muhammad Wajeeh Uz Zaman Yaser Hafeez Shariq Hussain Haris Anwaar Shunkun Yang Sadia Ali Aaqif Afzaal Abbasi Oh-Young Song 2021Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,5:0
12Active Learning Strategies for Textual Dataset-Automatic Labelling显示文摘The Internet revolution has resulted in abundant data from various sources,including social media,traditional media,etcetera.Although the availability of data is no longer an issue,data labelling for exploiting it in supervised machine learning is still an expensive process and involves tedious human efforts.The overall purpose of this study is to propose a strategy to automatically label the unlabeled textual data with the support of active learning in combination with deep learning.More specifically,this study assesses the performance of different active learning strategies in automatic labelling of the textual dataset at sentence and document levels.To achieve this objective,different experiments have been performed on the publicly available dataset.In first set of experiments,we randomly choose a subset of instances from training dataset and train a deep neural network to assess performance on test set.In the second set of experiments,we replace the random selection with different active learning strategies to choose a subset of the training dataset to train the same model and reassess its performance on test set.The experimental results suggest that different active learning strategies yield performance improvement of 7% on document level datasets and 3%on sentence level datasets for auto labelling.Sher Muhammad Daudpota Saif Hassan Yazeed Alkhurayyif Abdullah Saleh Alqahtani Muhammad Haris Aziz 2023Computers, Materials & Continua2023,76,8:0
13Lifetime Prediction of LiFePO_(4) Batteries Using Multilayer Classical-Quantum Hybrid Classifier显示文摘This article presents a multilayer hybrid classical-quantum classifier for predicting the lifetime of LiFePO_(4) batteries using early degradation data.The multilayer approach uses multiple variational quantum circuits in cascade,which allows more parameters to be used as weights in a single run hence increasing accuracy and provides faster cost function convergence for the optimizer.The proposed classifier predicts with an accuracy of 92.8%using data of the first four cycles.The effectiveness of the hybrid classifier is also presented by validating the performance using untrained data with an accuracy of 84%.We also demonstrate that the proposed classifier outperforms traditional machine learning algorithms in classification accuracy.In this paper,we show the application of quantum machine learning in solving a practical problem.This study will help researchers to apply quantum machine learning algorithms to more complex real-world applications,and reducing the gap between quantum and classical computing.Muhammad Haris Muhammad Noman Hasan Abdul Basit Shiyin Qin 2021Journal of Quantum Computing2021,3,3:0
14Genomic insight into the divergence and adaptive potential of a forgotten landrace G.hirsutum L.purpurascens显示文摘Wild progenitors are an excellent source for strengthening the genetic basis and accumulation of desirable variation lost because of directional selection and adaptation in modern cultivars.Here,we re-evaluate a landrace of Gossypium hirsutum,formerly known as Gossypium purpurascens.Our study seeks to understand the genomic structure,variation,and breeding potential of this landrace,providing potential insights into the biogeographic history and genomic changes likely associated with domestication.A core set of accessions,including current varieties,obsolete accessions,G.purpurascens,and other geographical landraces,are subjected to genotyping along with multilocation phenotyping.Population fixation statistics suggests a marked differentiation between G.purpurascens and three other groups,emphasizing the divergent genomic behavior of G.purpurascens.Phylogenetic analysis establishes the primitive nature of G.purpurascens,identifying it as a vital source of functional variation,the inclusion of which in the upland cotton(cultivated G.hirsutum)gene pool may broaden the genetic basis of modern cultivars.Genome-wide association results indicate multiple loci associated with domestication regions corresponding to flowering and fiber quality.Moreover,the conserved nature of G.purpurascens can also provide insights into the evolutionary process of G.hirsutum.Mian Faisal Nazir Shoupu He Haris Ahmed Zareen Sarfraz Yinhua Jia Hongge Li Gaofei Sun Muhammad Shahid Iqbal Zhaoe Pan Xiongming Du 2021Journal of Genetics and Genomics2021,48,6:0
15Hajj Crowd Management Using CNN-Based Approach显示文摘Hajj as the Muslim holy pilgrimage,attracts millions of humans to Mecca every year.According to statists,the pilgrimage has attracted close to 2.5 million pilgrims in 2019,and at its peak,it has attracted over 3 million pilgrims in 2012.It is considered as the world’s largest human gathering.Safety makes one of the main concerns with regards to managing the large crowds and ensuring that stampedes and other similar overcrowding accidents are avoided.This paper presents a crowd management system using image classification and an alarm system for managing the millions of crowds during Hajj.The image classification system greatly relies on the appropriate dataset used to train the Convolutional neural network(CNN),which is the deep learning technique that has recently attracted the interest of the research community and industry in varying applications of image classification and speech recognition.The core building block of CNN is is a convolutional layer obtained by the getting CNN trained with patches bearing designated features of the trainee mages.The algorithm is implemented,using the Conv2D layers to activate the CNN as a sequential network.Thus,creating a 2D convolution layer having 64 filters and drop out of 0.5 makes the core of a CNN referred to as a set of KERNELS.The aim is to train the CNN model with mapped image data,and to make it available for use in classifying the crowd as heavily-crowded,crowded,semi-crowded,light crowded,and normal.The utility of these results lies in producing appropriate signals for proving helpful in monitoring the pilgrims.Counting pilgrims from the photos will help the authorities to determine the number of people in certain areas.The results demonstrate the utility of agent-based modeling for Hajj pilgrims.Waleed Albattah Muhammad Haris Kaka Khel Shabana Habib Muhammad Islam Sheroz Khan Kushsairy Abdul Kadir 2021Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,2:0
16Cotton Leaf Diseases Recognition Using Deep Learning and Genetic Algorithm显示文摘Globally,Pakistan ranks 4th in cotton production,6th as an importer of raw cotton,and 3rd in cotton consumption.Nearly 10%of GDP and 55%of the country’s foreign exchange earnings depend on cotton products.Approximately 1.5 million people in Pakistan are engaged in the cotton value chain.However,several diseases such as Mildew,Leaf Spot,and Soreshine affect cotton production.Manual diagnosis is not a good solution due to several factors such as high cost and unavailability of an expert.Therefore,it is essential to develop an automated technique that can accurately detect and recognize these diseases at their early stages.In this study,a new technique is proposed using deep learning architecture with serially fused features and the best feature selection.The proposed architecture consists of the following steps:(a)a self-collected dataset of cotton diseases is prepared and labeled by an expert;(b)data augmentation is performed on the collected dataset to increase the number of images for better training at the earlier step;(c)a pre-trained deep learning model named ResNet101 is employed and trained through a transfer learning approach;(d)features are computed from the third and fourth last layers and serially combined into one matrix;(e)a genetic algorithm is applied to the combined matrix to select the best points for further recognition.For final recognition,a Cubic SVM approach was utilized and validated on a prepared dataset.On the newly prepared dataset,the highest achieved accuracy was 98.8%using Cubic SVM,which shows the perfection of the proposed framework..Muhammad Rizwan Latif Muhamamd Attique Khan Muhammad Younus Javed Haris Masood Usman Tariq Yunyoung Nam Seifedine Kadry 2021Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,12:0

18Neurofibromatosis type 2 gene mutation and progesterone receptor messenger RNA expression in the pathogenesis of sporadic orbitocranial meningioma显示文摘AIM: To investigate neurofibromatosis type 2(NF2) gene mutation at mRNA levels in sporadic orbitocranial meningioma and its association with progesterone receptor(PR) mR NA expression.METHODS: This was a case-control study. Thirty-four sporadic meningioma patients with no familial NF2-related meningioma history were recruited. They were interviewed for their obstetric, gynecologic, and contraception history. PR investigation was performed with real-time polymerase chain reaction(PCR). NF2 mutation was investigated using Qbiomarker Somatic Mutation PCR Assay at NF2 mRNA level after its cDNA extraction(four mRNA mutation cytoband coordinates for nucleotide change: c.634 C>T/p.Q212, c.655 G>A/p.V219 M, c.784 C>T/p.R262 and c.1228 C>T/p. Q410). RESULTS: After mutation analysis at mRNA level, NF2 gene mutation was found in 35.29% patients. Non-mutation group was strongly associated with exogenous hormonal exposure(non-mutation vs mutation: 95.5% vs 83.3%, P<0.001). PR mR NA was found significantly lower in nonmutation group(P=0.033) which presumed as long term exogenous progesterone exposure. However, mutation group was associated with higher rate of progression to gradeⅡ(mutation vs non-mutation, 18.2% vs 5%, P<0.001) and was associated more in fibrous and anaplastic tumor tissue.CONCLUSION: NF2 mutation-meningioma is associated with higher grade of meningioma. 19Recognition and Tracking of Objects in a Clustered Remote Scene Environment显示文摘Object recognition and tracking are two of the most dynamic research sub-areas that belong to the field of Computer Vision.Computer vision is one of the most active research fields that lies at the intersection of deep learning and machine vision.This paper presents an efficient ensemble algorithm for the recognition and tracking of fixed shapemoving objects while accommodating the shift and scale invariances that the object may encounter.The first part uses the Maximum Average Correlation Height(MACH)filter for object recognition and determines the bounding box coordinates.In case the correlation based MACH filter fails,the algorithms switches to a much reliable but computationally complex feature based object recognition technique i.e.,affine scale invariant feature transform(ASIFT).ASIFT is used to accommodate object shift and scale object variations.ASIFT extracts certain features from the object of interest,providing invariance in up to six affine parameters,namely translation(two parameters),zoom,rotation and two camera axis orientations.However,in this paper,only the shift and scale invariances are used.The second part of the algorithm demonstrates the use of particle filters based Approximate Proximal Gradient(APG)technique to periodically update the coordinates of the object encapsulated in the bounding box.At the end,a comparison of the proposed algorithm with other stateof-the-art tracking algorithms has been presented,which demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm with respect to the minimization of tracking errors.Haris Masood Amad Zafar Muhammad Umair Ali Muhammad Attique Khan Salman Ahmed Usman Tariq Byeong-Gwon Kang Yunyoung Nam 2022Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,1:0
20New Discovery of Hipparion theobaldi Skull from the Late Miocene of Padhri,District Jhelum,Punjab,Pakistan and Associated Mammalian Fossil Assemblage显示文摘A fossil-bearing locality near Padhri village,Dhok Pathan,55 km away from the tehsil Dina,Jhelum District,in the Potwar Plateau,Middle Siwaliks,Punjab,northern Pakistan,is significantly rich in mammalian fossils.This site has provided an abundant mammalian fossil fauna of Late Miocene age from the Dhok Pathan Formation(Fm.).The recovered material belongs to four families:Equidae(horses),Rhinocerotidae(rhinos),Bovidae(cows),and Suidae(pigs).We discovered a new skull of hipparionine Hipparion theobaldi from this locality along with 22 specimens from the associated assemblage of fossil mammals.The recovered material includes seven other species:the aceratheriine Chilotherium intermedium,boselaphines Tragoportax punjabicus,Selenoportax vexillarius,Pachyportax latidens,the antelope Gazella lydekkeri and suinine Propotamochoerus hysudricus.The specimens are isolated teeth,fragments of maxilla,mandibles and horn cores.The Dhok Pathan Fm.is generally composed of claystone,siltstone and sandstone beds and,based on the mammalian fauna,the Padhri fossil locality is dated as Late Miocene.Thi99 s formation was deposited in a subtropical paleoenvironment and the predominance of fossil bovids indicates extremely moist conditions with small but frequent standing water bodies.Khizar SAMIULLAH Omer DRAZ Riffat YASIN Bilal RASOOL Hafiz MUHAMMAD ISHAQ Muhammad HARIS AZIZ Rana MEHROZ FAZAL Shakila NAZ Tehreem RAZA Romesa NIAZI 2022Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2022,96,4:0
