| 1 | Applications of Wavelet Analysis in Differential Propagation Phase Shift Data De-noising显示文摘Using numerical simulation data of the forward differential propagation shift(ΦDP) of polarimetric radar, the principle and performing steps of noise reduction by wavelet analysis are introduced in detail. Profiting from the multiscale analysis, various types of noises can be identified according to their characteristics in different scales, and suppressed in different resolutions by a penalty threshold strategy through which a fixed threshold value is applied, a default threshold strategy through which the threshold value is determined by the noise intensity, or a ΦDPpenalty threshold strategy through which a special value is designed for ΦDPde-noising. Then, a hard- or soft-threshold function, depending on the de-noising purpose, is selected to reconstruct the signal. Combining the three noise suppression strategies and the two signal reconstruction functions, and without loss of generality, two schemes are presented to verify the de-noising effect by dbN wavelets:(1) the penalty threshold strategy with the soft threshold function scheme(PSS);(2) the ΦDPpenalty threshold strategy with the soft threshold function scheme(PPSS). Furthermore, the wavelet de-noising is compared with the mean, median, Kalman, and finite impulse response(FIR) methods with simulation data and two actual cases. The results suggest that both of the two schemes perform well, especially when ΦDPdata are simultaneously polluted by various scales and types of noises. | 3 | Spatial variations of macrozoobenthos and sediment nutrients in Lake Yangcheng: Emphasis on effect of pen culture of Chinese mitten crab显示文摘We determined the effect of Chinese mitten crab(CMC) pen culture on the quantified spatial distribution of the macrozoobenthic community and sediment nutrients in Lake Yangcheng.Redundancy analysis indicated that water temperature, macrophyte occurrence, sediment type, and crab culture were the main environmental factors that influence the spatiotemporal macrozoobenthic distribution. Macrozoobenthic assemblages in the lake were characterized by eutrophic indicator species. In the most polluted estuaries, the abundance and diversity indices of the whole community and abundance of chironomids and oligochaetes were significantly depressed, and sediment carbon(C) and phosphorus(P) were significantly enhanced compared with those in the western, middle(MB), and eastern basin(EB). Crab culture in this lake had significant effects on the species composition of the macrozoobenthic community in one of three CMC culture pens(CP), and generally depressed the abundance of most chironomid and oligochaete species. Significantly increased diversity, evenness, sediment carbon and nitrogen content, and sediment C:P ratio in the CP were found compared with those in the three basins.However, no conspicuous difference in sediment P content between the CP and the two basins of MB and EB was detected. | 7 | Initial gut microbiota structure affects sensitivity to DSS-induced colitis in a mouse model显示文摘The dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis model is a widely applied mouse model, but controversial results have been obtained from experiments using the same mouse strain under the same conditions. Because the gut microbiota play an important role in DSS-induced colitis, it is essential to evaluate the influence of the initial gut microbiota in this model. Here, we identified significant variations in the initial gut microbiota of different batches of mice and found that the initial intestinal microbiota had a profound influence on DSS-induced colitis. We performed three independent trials using the same C57BL/6J mouse model with DSS treatment and used high-throughput 16S rRNA gene sequencing to analyze the gut microbiota. We found that the structure and composition of the gut microbiota in mice with severe colitis, as compared with mice with milder colon damage, had unique features, such as an increase in Akkermansia bacteria and a decrease in Barnesiella spp. Moreover, these varied gut bacteria in the different trials also showed different responses to DSS treatment. | 10 | Characterization of a Putative New Semi-Dominant Reduced Height Gene, Rht_NM9, in Wheat(Triticum aestivum L.)显示文摘Plant height is an important agronomic trait in cereal crops, and can affect both plant architecture and grain yield. New dwarfing genes are required for improving the genetic diversity of wheat. In this study, a novel dwarf mutant, NM9, was created by treating seeds of the wheat variety NAU9918 with ethyl methanesulfonate(EMS). NM9 showed obvious phenotypic changes, which were distinct from those caused by other dwarfing genes, especially the reduced plant height, increased effective tiller number, and elongated spike and grain length. The reduced plant height in NM9 was attributable to a semi-dominant dwarfing gene Rht_NM9, which was flanked by two closely linked SNP markers, SNP34 and SNP41, covering an 8.86-Mb region on the chromosome arm 2AS. The results of gibberellic acid(GA) sensitivity evaluation, comparative genomics analysis and allelism test indicated that Rht_NM9 was neither allelic to Rht7 and Rht21 nor homoeoallelic to Rht8, so Rht_NM9 was proposed to be a new dwarfing locus on the homoeologous group 2 chromosomes of wheat. The production rates of long-lived radionuclides were calculated with Geant4 and CRY.Results were validated by comparing the simulated and experimental spectra of CDEX-1B detector. Based on the validated codes, the cosmogenic background level was predicted for further tonne-scale CDEX experiment. The suppression of cosmogenic background level could be achieved by underground germanium crystal growth and high-purity germanium detector fabrication to reach the sensitivity requirement for direct detection of dark matter. | 14 | Speciation and thermal transformation of sulfur forms in high-sulfur coal and its utilization in coal-blending coking process:A review显示文摘The utilization of high-sulfur coal is becoming more urgent due to the excessive utilization of low-sulfur,high-quality coal resources,and sulfur removal from high-sulfur coal is the most important issue.This paper reviews the speciation,forms and distribution of sulfur in coal,the sulfur removal from raw coal,the thermal transformation of sulfur during coal pyrolysis,and the sulfur regulation during coal-blending coking of high organic-sulfur coals.It was suggested that the proper characterization of sulfur in coal cannot be obtained only by either chemical method or instrumental characterization,which raises the need of a combination of current or newly adopted characterization methods.Different from the removal of inorganic sulfur from coal,the organic sulfur can only be partly removed by chemical technologies;and the coal structure and property,particularly high-sulfur coking coals which have caking ability,may be altered and affected by the pretreatment processes.Based on the interactions among the sulfur radicals,sulfur-containing and hydrogen-containing fragments during coal pyrolysis and the reactions with minerals or nascent char,regulating the sulfur transformation behavior in the process of thermal conversion is the most effective way to utilize high organic-sulfur coals in the coke-making industry.An in-situ regulation approach of sulfur transformation during coal-blending coking has been suggested.That is,the high volatile coals with an appropriate releasing temperature range of CH4 overlapping well with that of H2 S from high organic-sulfur coals is blended with high organic-sulfur coals,and the C–S/C–C bonds in some sulfur forms are catalytically broken and immediately hydrogenated by the hydrogencontaining radicals generated from high volatile coals.Wherein,the effect of mass transfer on sulfur regulation during the coking process should be considered for the larger-scale coking tests through optimizing the ratios of different coals in the coal blend. | Yanfeng Shen Yongfeng Hu Meijun Wang Weiren Bao Liping Chang Kechang Xie | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2021,34,7: | 5 |
| 15 | The heterogeneity of islet autoantibodies and the progression of islet failure in type 1 diabetic patients显示文摘Type 1 diabetes mellitus is heterogeneous in many facets. The patients suffered from type 1 diabetes present several levels of islet function as well as variable number and type of islet-specific autoantibodies. This study was to investigate prevalence and heterogeneity of the islet autoantibodies and clinical phenotypes of type 1 diabetes mellitus; and also discussed the process of islet failure and its risk factors in Chinese type 1 diabetic patients. A total of 1,291 type 1 diabetic patients were enrolled in this study. Demographic information was collected. Laboratory tests including mixed-meal tolerance test, human leukocyte antigen alleles, hemoglobin A1 c, lipids, thyroid function and islet autoantibodies were conducted. The frequency of islet-specific autoantibody in newly diagnosed T1 DM patients(duration shorter than half year) was 73% in East China. According to binary logistic regressions, autoantibody positivity, longer duration and lower Body Mass Index were the risk factors of islet failure. As the disease developed, autoantibodies against glutamic acid decarboxylase declined as well as the other two autoantibodies against zinc transporter 8 and islet antigen 2. The decrease of autoantibodies was positively correlated with aggressive beta cell destruction. Autoantibodies can facilitate the identification of classic T1 DM from other subtypes and predict the progression of islet failure. | 20 | Therapeutic siRNA:state of the art显示文摘RNA interference(RNAi)is an ancient biological mechanism used to defend against external invasion.It theoretically can silence any disease-related genes in a sequence-specific manner,making small interfering RNA(siRNA)a promising therapeutic modality.After a two-decade journey from its discovery,two approvals of siRNA therapeutics,ONPATTRO®(patisiran)and GIVLAARI™(givosiran),have been achieved by Alnylam Pharmaceuticals.Reviewing the long-term pharmaceutical history of human beings,siRNA therapy currently has set up an extraordinary milestone,as it has already changed and will continue to change the treatment and management of human diseases.It can be administered quarterly,even twice-yearly,to achieve therapeutic effects,which is not the case for small molecules and antibodies.The drug development process was extremely hard,aiming to surmount complex obstacles,such as how to efficiently and safely deliver siRNAs to desired tissues and cells and how to enhance the performance of siRNAs with respect to their activity,stability,specificity and potential off-target effects.In this review,the evolution of siRNA chemical modifications and their biomedical performance are comprehensively reviewed.All clinically explored and commercialized siRNA delivery platforms,including the GalNAc(N-acetylgalactosamine)–siRNA conjugate,and their fundamental design principles are thoroughly discussed.The latest progress in siRNA therapeutic development is also summarized.This review provides a comprehensive view and roadmap for general readers working in the field. | Bo Hu Liping Zhong Yuhua Weng Ling Peng Yuanyu Huang Yongxiang Zhao Xing-Jie Liang | 2020 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2020,5,1: | 4 |
