| 1 | Intra-familial prevalence of hepatitis B virologic markers in HBsAg positive family members in Nahavand, Iran显示文摘AIM: To determine the prevalence of hepatitis B in Nahavand and evaluate the HBsAg positive prevalence in families with a member who was confirmed to have HBV infection.METHODS: This study was performed in two phases. In the first phase, 1 824 subjects in Nahavand city were selected. The interviewers visited the houses of chosen families to fill the questionnaire and take the blood samples.All subjects signed an informed consent before interviews and blood sampling. The samples were evaluated for HBV virologic markers. In the second phase, 115 HBsAg-positive cases were enrolled and evaluated for HBV virologic markers.RESULTS: The prevalence of positive HBsAg in Nahavand was 2.3%. The most frequent relatives of index cases were sons and daughters (32.2% and 23.5% respectively).Twelve (11%) of all family members were HBsAg positive.Fifty (56.2%) were isolated HBsAb positive and only one person (2.5%) was isolated HBcAb positive. The higher rates of HBsAg marker were detected in the brothers (1-25%) and fathers (1-12.5%). The infection rate in husbands and wives of index cases was 10%. | 2 | The potential role of grape (Vitis vinifera L.) in prevention of threatened abortion via immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory abilities: a hypothesis显示文摘Threatened abortion is a common problem in early pregnancy. This early vaginal bleeding happens in about 25% of pregnant women. The medications including progesterone, uterine muscle relaxant or human chorionic gonadotropin have essential effects in developing pregnancy, but the clinical data are insufficient to prescribe them. In recent decades, medicinal herbs can help us to present new treatments. Grape (Vitis vinifera L.) can protect the fetus from the perspective of Persian medicine. So, we hypothesize about the salutary effects of grape in miscarriage prevention. We found five standard expected mechanisms of grape to prevent threatened abortion: immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, anti-contraction, hormonal and anti-stress activities. Grape reduces nitric oxide, prostaglandin E2, expression of nuclear factor κB and other pro-inflammatory cytokines like IL (Interleukin)-1β, IL-6, IL-8, and tumor necrosis factor-α. It also elevates anti-inflammatory mediators and expression of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ. Grape polyphenols have a crucial role in fetus protection with high antioxidant power and other functions such as prevention of stress-triggered abortion with proanthocyanidins, or hormonal effects and inhibition of uterine contractions with resveratrol. | 3 | Perioperative outcomes in minimally invasive lumbar spine surgery: A systematic review显示文摘AIM: To compare minimally invasive(MIS) and open techniques for MIS lumbar laminectomy, direct lateral and transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion(TLIF) surgeries with respect to length of surgery, estimated blood loss(EBL), neurologic complications, perioperative transfusion, postoperative pain, postoperative narcotic use, and length of stay(LOS).METHODS: A systematic review of previously published studies accessible through Pub Med was performed. Only articles in English journals or published with English language translations were included. Level of evidence of the selected articles was assessed. Statistical data was calculated with analysis of variance with P < 0.05 considered statistically significant.RESULTS: A total of 11 pertinent laminectomy studies, 20 direct lateral studies, and 27 TLIF studies were found. For laminectomy, MIS techniques resulted in a significantly longer length of surgery(177.5 min vs 129.0 min, P = 0.04), shorter LOS(4.3 d vs 5.3 d, P = 0.01) and less perioperative pain(visual analog scale: 16 ± 17 vs 34 ± 31, P = 0.04). There is evidence of decreased narcotic use for MIS patients(postoperative intravenous morphine use: 9.3 mg vs 42.8 mg), however this difference is of unknown significance. Direct lateral approaches have insufficient comparative data to establish relative perioperative outcomes. MIS TLIF had superior EBL(352 mL vs 580 mL, P < 0.0001) and LOS(7.7 d vs 10.4 d, P < 0.0001) and limited data to suggest lower perioperative pain.CONCLUSION: Based on perioperative outcomes data, MIS approach is superior to open approach for TLIF. For laminectomy, MIS and open approaches can be chosen based on surgeon preference. | 4 | Machine vision based expert system to estimate orange mass of three varieties显示文摘A key issue in fruit export is classification and sorting for acceptable marketing.In the present work,the image processing technique was employed to grade three varieties of oranges(Bam,Khooni and Thompson)separately.The reason for choosing this fruit as the object of the study was its abundant consumption worldwide.In this study,14 parameters were extracted:area,eccentricity,perimeter,length/area,blue value,green value,red value,width,contrast,texture,width/area,width/length,roughness,and length.Further,the ANFIS(Adaptive Network-based Fuzzy Inference System)method was utilized to estimate the orange mass from the data obtained using the image processing in three varieties.In ANFIS model,samples were divided into two sets,one with 70%for training set and the other one with 30%for testing set.The results of the present study demonstrated that the coefficient of determination(R2)of the best model for Bam,Khooni and Thompson measured 0.948,0.99,and 0.98,respectively.In addition,the results indicated that the estimation accuracy of the best model for Bam,Khooni and Thompson was measured as±3.7 g,±1.28 g,±3.2 g,respectively.This result was very satisfactory for the application of ANFIS to estimate the orange mass. | Hossein Javadikia Sajad Sabzi Hekmat Rabbani | 2017 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2017，10，2： | 2 |
