| 7 | Natural^(15)N abundance in soils and plants in relation to N cycling in a rangeland in Inner Mongolia显示文摘Aims Natural 15N abundance provides integrated information about nitrogen(N)input,transformation and output,indirectly reflecting N cycling traits within terrestrial ecosystems.However,relationships between natural 15N abundance and N cycling processes are poorly understood in China.Here,our primary objectives were to(i)examine the effects of grazing at varying levels of intensity on d15N of soils and plants in a semi-arid grassland;(ii)detect the relationships between d15N of soils and four major N cycling processes(i.e.mineralization,nitrification,denitrification and ammonia volatilization);and(iii)determine whether d15N of soils can be used as an indicator of N cycling in this semi-arid grassland.Methods The field experiment was conducted within the long-term(17-year)grazing enclosures in a semi-arid grassland in Inner Mongolia.Five grazing intensities(0.00,1.33,2.67,4.00 and 5.33 sheep ha1)were designed.d15N values of topsoils(0–10 cm),surface soils(0–2 cm)and plants were measured in 2006.Differences in d15N of soils and plants between the five grazing intensities were examined.Rates of four soil N cycling processes were measured periodically during the 2005 and 2006 growing seasons.The d15N values of topsoils were linked to the four N cycling processes to investigate their relationships.Important Findings The d15N values of topsoils(5.20–5.96&)were substantially higher than the d15N values of plants(2.51–2.93&)and surface soils(1.44–2.92&)regardless of grazing intensities.The 15N-depleted N losses during microbial decomposition of organic matter in concert with the downward movement of residual substrate over time are the possible causes of higher d15N values in topsoils than in surface soils.In addition,the d15N values of topsoils were positively correlated with the d15N values of both plants and surface soils.Grazing,especially the high-intensity grazing(5.33 sheep ha1),resulted in a significant decrease in d15N of surface soils.However,no statistically significant variations in d15N of topsoils and plants were found in response to grazing.The d15N values of topsoils exhibited significant dependence on the cumulative rates of NH3 volatilization,net nitrification and denitrification in 2005 but not in 2006. | Yuqing Xu Jicheng He Weixin Cheng Xuerong Xing Linghao Li | 2010 | Journal of Plant Ecology2010,3,3: | 12 |
| 8 | Simple PID Parameter Tuning Method Based on Outputs of the Closed Loop System显示文摘Most of the existing PID parameters tuning methods are only effective with pre-known accurate system models, which often require some strict identification experiments and thus infeasible for many complicated systems. Actually, in most practical engineering applications, it is desirable for the PID tuning scheme to be directly based on the input-output response of the closed-loop system. Thus, a new parameter tuning scheme for PID controllers without explicit mathematical model is developed in this paper. The paper begins with a new frequency domain properties analysis of the PID controller. After that, the definition of characteristic frequency for the PID controller is given in order to study the mathematical relationship between the PID parameters and the open-loop frequency properties of the controlled system. Then, the concepts of M-field and θ-field are introduced, which are then used to explain how the PID control parameters influence the closed-loop frequency-magnitude property and its time responses. Subsequently, the new PID parameter tuning scheme, i.e., a group of tuning rules, is proposed based on the preceding analysis. Finally, both simulations and experiments are conducted, and the results verify the feasibility and validity of the proposed methods. | 9 | The origin of Wx^(la) provides new insights into the improvement of grain quality in rice显示文摘Appearance and taste are important factors in rice(Oryza sativa) grain quality. Here, we investigated the taste scores and related eating-quality traits of533 diverse cultivars to assess the relationships between—and genetic basis of—rice taste and eating-quality. A genome-wide association study highlighted the Wx gene as the major factor underlying variation in taste and eating quality. Notably, a novel waxy(Wx) allele, Wx^(la), which combined two mutations from Wx^(b) and Wx^(in), exhibited a unique phenotype. Reduced GBSSI activity conferred Wx^(la) rice with both a transparent appearance and good eating quality. Haplotype analysis revealed that Wx^(la) was derived from intragenic recombination. In fact,the recombination rate at the Wx locus was estimated to be 3.34 kb/c M, which was about 75-fold higher than the genome-wide mean, indicating that intragenic recombination is a major force driving diversity at the Wx locus. Based on our results, we propose a new network for Wx evolution, noting that new Wx alleles could easily be generated by crossing genotypes with different Wx alleles. | 11 | Mechanism of acupuncture regulating visceral sensation and mobility显示文摘Chinese ancient medical scientists have long focused on the internal and external contacts between acupoints on the surface of the body and the viscera.The Miraculous Pivot(it is one of the earliest medical classics in China)stated,“Twelve regular channels belong to the zang-fu organs internally,and connect to the extremities and joints externally.”Traditional Chinese medicine considers acupoints as defined areas where the Qi of viscera and meridians are transfused.These include the reaction points of visceral diseases on the body surface as well as the acupuncture trigger points that promote the flow of Qi and blood,and regulate visceral function.Chinese ancient medical scientists classified the specificity of the main acupoints in the body based on the meridian doctrine,which has been instructing clinical application for about 2000 years.Laws on the domino effect of acupoints have mainly focused on conclusions to clinical experiences.Indications of some acupoints exceed the practical paradigm since the excessive extension occurred during theory derivation.The current research direction on acupuncture focuses on three aspects:the effectiveness of acupuncture and moxibustion;the relevances and associations between meridians and viscera;and the physical and chemical properties and relevant physical basis of acupoints.The relevance between meridians and viscera is the central theory in the meridian doctrine,and acupoints are regarded as an important link in the relationship between meridians and viscera.Specific relationships between acupoints and target organs exist.Stimulating different acupoints on the body surface can help deal with different diseases,especially visceral diseases.In addition,acupoints have a dual function of reflecting and treating visceral diseases.There is no systemic research available on acupoint specificity,despite current knowledge and clinical experiences,which results in a weak foundation for acupuncture theory.This study focuses on the relevance and associations between meridians and viscera.A summary of the mechanisms of acupuncture regulating visceral sensation and mobility and the specific relationships between acupoints and their target organs are presented in this review. | Peijing Rong Bing Zhu Yuqing Li Xinyan Gao Hui Ben Yanhua Li Liang Li Wei He Rupeng Liu Lingling Yu | 2011 | Frontiers of Medicine2011,5,2: | 8 |

| 13 | Gene diagnosis and targeted breeding for blast-resistant Kongyu 131without changing regional adaptability显示文摘The fungus Magnaporthe oryzae threatens the rice production of Kongyu 131 (KY131),a leading japonica variety in Northeast China.In this study,two rice lines,KP1 and KP2-Hd1,were obtained by introgressing the blast resistance genes Pi1 and Pi2 into KY131,respectively.However,both lines headed later than KY131.RICE60K SNP array analysis showed that Hd1 closely linked to Pi2 was introgressed into KP2-Hd1,and the linkage drag of Hd1 was broken by recombination.On the other hand,no known flowering genes were introgressed into KP1.Gene diagnosis by resequencing six flowering genes showed that KP1 carried functional Hd16 and Ghd8 alleles.Due to its suppression role in heading under long-day conditions,Ghd8 was chosen as the target for gene editing to disrupt its function.Four sgRNAs targeting different sites within Ghd8 were utilized to induce large-deletion mutations,which were easy to detect via agarose gel electrophoresis.All the ghd8-mutated KP1 lines were resistant to rice blast disease and headed earlier than the control KP1,even than KY131,under natural long-day conditions,which ensures its growth in Northeast China.This study confirmed that a combination of gene diagnosis and targeted gene editing is a highly efficient way to quickly eliminate undesired traits in a breeding line. | Xiangchun Zhou Gonghao Jiang Longwei Yang Lei Qiu Ping He Chunxiao Nong Yunyue Wang Yuqing He Yongzhong Xing | 2018 | Journal of Genetics and Genomics2018,45,10: | 7 |
| 14 | A draft sequence of the rice (Oryza sativa ssp. indica) genome显示文摘The sequence of the rice genome holds fundamental information for its biology, including physiology, genetics, development, and evolution, as well as information on many beneficial phenotypes of economic significance. Using a 'whole genome shotgun' approach, we have pro-duced a draft rice genome sequence of Oryza sativa ssp. in-dica, the major crop rice subspecies in China and many other regions of Asia. The draft genome sequence is constructed from over 4.3 million successful sequencing traces with an accumulative total length of 2214.9 Mb. The initial assembly of the non-redundant sequences reached 409.76 Mb in length, based on 3.30 million successful sequencing traces with a total length of 1797.4 Mb from an indica variant cultivar 93-11, giving an estimated coverage of 95.29% of the rice genome with an average base accuracy of higher than 99%. | 16 | The terraced thermal contrast among the Tibetan Plateau,the East Asian plain, and the western North Pacific and its impacts on the seasonal transition of East Asian climate显示文摘The heating sources over the Tibetan Plateau(TP),the East Asian plain,and the western North Pacific(WNP)form a terraced thermal contrast in the west-east direction.Over East Asia and the WNP,this zonal thermal contrast contributes as high as 45%to the seasonal variance based on the EOF analysis and exerts a significant impact on the seasonal transition of the East Asian climate through the enhancement of the year-round southerly to the southeast of the TP in late March and early April.This effect is investigated in this study using a high-resolution regional atmospheric model by doubling the surface sensible heat flux,respectively,over the TP,the East Asian plain,and the WNP in three sensitivity experiments.Comparisons among the experiments reveal that doubling the surface sensible heat flux over the WNP has little upstream response over East Asia.The increased zonal thermal contrast between the TP and the East Asian plain due to doubled heat flux over the TP would induce anomalous northerly over the region with year-round southerly to the southeast of the TP and weaken its seasonal enhancement.Doubling the surface sensible heat flux over the East Asian plain decreases the zonal thermal contrast and leads to southerly anomaly over the region with year-round southerly to the southeast of the TP and South China,which is favorable for the enhancement of the year-round southerly and its eastward extension. | Li Qi Jinhai He Yuqing Wang | 2014 | Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,2: | 4 |
| 17 | Heterogeneous memory enhanced graph reasoning network for cross-modal retrieval显示文摘Cross-modal retrieval(CMR) aims to retrieve the instances of a specific modality that are relevant to a given query from another modality, which has drawn much attention because of its importance in bridging vision with language. A key to the success of CMR is to learn more discriminative and robust representations for both visual and textual instances to further reduce the heterogeneous discrepancy existing in different modalities. In this paper, we address this challenging issue by proposing a heterogeneous memory enhanced graph reasoning network, named HMGR, to connect the semantic correlations between vision and language.On the one hand, we design a novel dual-path network architecture to generate relationship enhanced global representations by employing modality-specific graph reasoning on extracted local features for each instance.In this way, the topological interdependencies of both visual and textual intra-instance local fragments are fully mined to achieve a deeper semantic understanding of the relationships between them. On the other hand,we focus on utilizing inter-instance semantic correlated knowledge to enhance the discriminability of the final learned representations, which is achieved by introducing a joint heterogeneous memory network to iteratively restore both visual and textual instance-level information. Through interacting with long-term contextual multimodal knowledge, an encouraging shared latent feature space for mitigating the heterogeneous gap across different modalities can be learned. | 18 | Nuclear Localized O-Fucosyltransferase SPY Facilitates PRR5 Proteolysis to Fine-Tune the Pace of Arabidopsis Circadian Clock显示文摘Post-translational modifications play essential roles in finely modulating eukaryotic circadian clock systems.In plants,the effects of O-glycosylation on the circadian clock and the underlying mechanisms remain largely unknown.The O-fucosyltransferase SPINDLY(SPY)and the O-GIcNAc transferase SECRET AGENT(SEC)are two prominent O-glycosylation enzymes in higher plants,with both overlapped and unique functions in plant growth and development.Unlike the critical role of O-GIcNAc in regulating the animal circadian clock,here we report that nuclear-localized SPY,but not SEC,specifically modulates the pace of the Arabidopsis circadian clock.By identifying the interactome of SPY,we identified PSEUDORESPONSE REGULATOR 5(PRR5),one of the core circadian clock components,as a new SPY-interacting protein.PRR5 can be O-fucosylated by SPY in pianta,while point mutation in the catalytic domain of SPY abolishes the O-fucosylation of PRR5.The protein abundance of PRR5 is strongly increased in spy mutants,while the degradation rate of PRR5 is much reduced,suggesting that PRR5 proteolysis is promoted by SPY-mediated O-fucosylation.Moreover,multiple lines of genetic evidence indicate that PRR5 is a major downstream target of SPY to specifically mediate its modulation of the circadian clock.Collectively,our findings provide novel insights into the specific role of the O-fucosyltransferase activity of SPY in modulating the circadian clock and implicate that O-glycosylation might play an evolutionarily conserved role in modulating the circadian clock system,via O-GIcNAcylation in mammals,but via O-fuco-sylation in higher plants. | Yan Wang Yuqing He Chen Su Rodolfo Zentella Tai-ping Sun Lei Wang | 2020 | Molecular Plant2020,13,3: | 4 |
