Microbiological parameters and maturity degree during composting of Posidonia oceanica residues mixed with vegetable wastes in semi-arid pedo-climatic condition显示文摘The aim of this study was to characterize the biological stability and maturity degree of compost during a controlled pile-composting trial of mixed vegetable residues (VR) collected from markets of Tunis City with residues of Posidonia oceanica (PoR), collected from Tunis beaches. The accumulation in beaches (as well as their removal) constitutes a serious environmental problem in all Mediterranean countries particularly in Tunisia. Aerobic-thermophilic composting is the most reasonable way to profit highly-valuable content of organic matter in these wastes for agricultural purposes. The physical, chemical, and biological parameters were monitored during composting over 150 d. The most appropriate parameters were selected to establish the maturity degree. The main result of this research was the deduction of the following maturity criterion: (a) C/N ratio < 15; (b) NH4+-N < 400 mg/kg; (c) CO2-C < 2000 mg CO2-C/kg; (d) dehydrogenase activity < 1 mg TPF/g dry matter; (e) germination index (GI) > 80%. These five parameters, considered jointly are indicative of a high maturity degree and thus of a high-quality organic amendment which employed in a rational way, may improve soil fertility and soil quality. The mature compost was relatively rich in N (13.0 g/kg), P (4.74 g/kg) and MgO (15.80 g/kg). Thus composting definitively constitutes the most optimal option to exploit these wastes. | SAIDI Neyla KOUKI Soulwene M'HIRI Fadhel JEDIDI Naceur MAHROUK Meriam HASSEN Abdennaceur OUZARI Hadda | 2009 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2009,21,10: | 32
Hypoxia inducible factor-1αaccumulation in steatotic liver preservation:Role of nitric oxide显示文摘AIM:To examine the relevance of hypoxia inducible factor(HIF-1)and nitric oxide(NO)on the preservation of fatty liver against cold ischemia-reperfusion injury(IRI). METHODS:We used an isolated perfused rat liver model and we evaluated HIF-1αin steatotic and non-steatotic livers preserved for 24 h at 4℃in University of Wisconsin and IGL-1 solutions, and then subjected to 2 h of normothermic reperfusion. After normoxic reperfusion, liver enzymes, bile production, bromosulfophthalein clearance,as well as HIF-1αand NO[endothelial NO synthase(eNOS)activity and nitrites/nitrates]were also measured.Other factors associated with the higher susceptibility of steatotic livers to IRI,such as mitochondrial damage and vascular resistance were evaluated. RESULTS:A significant increase in HIF-1αwas found in steatotic and non-steatotic livers preserved in IGL-1 after cold storage.Livers preserved in IGL-1 showed a significant attenuation of liver injury and improvement in liver function parameters. These benefits were enhanced by the addition of trimetazidine(an antiischemic drug),which induces NO and eNOS activation, to IGL-1 solution. In normoxic reperfusion, the presence of NO favors HIF-1αaccumulation,promoting also the activation of other cytoprotective genes, such as hemeoxygenase-1. CONCLUSION:We found evidence for the role of the HIF-1α/NO system in fatty liver preservation, especially when IGL-1 solution is used. | Mohamed Amine Zaouali Ismail Ben Mosbah Eleonora Boncompagni Hassen Ben Abdennebi Maria Teresa Mitjavila Ramon Bartrons Isabel Freitas Antoni Rimola Joan Roselló-Catafau | 2010 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2010,16,28: | 11
How to protect liver graft with nitric oxide显示文摘Organ preservation and ischemia reperfusion injury as- sociated with liver transplantation play an important role in the induction of graft injury. One of the earliest events associated with the reperfusion injury is en- dothelial cell dysfunction. It is generally accepted that endothelial nitric oxide synthase (e-NOS) is cell-pro- tective by mediating vasodilatation, whereas inducible nitric oxide synthase mediates liver graft injury after transplantation. We conducted a critical review of the literature evaluating the potential applications of regu- lating and promoting e-NOS activity in liver preservation and transplantation, showing the most current evidenceto support the concept that enhanced bioavailability of NO derived from e-NOS is detrimental to ameliorate graft liver preservation, as well as preventing subse- quent graft reperfusion injury. This review deals mainly with the beneficial effects of promoting 'endogenous' pathways for NO generation, via e-NOS inducer drugs in cold preservation solution, surgical strategies such as ischemic preconditioning, and alternative 'exogenous' pathways that focus on the enrichment of cold storage liquid with NO donors. Finally, we also provide a basic bench-to-bed side summary of the liver physiology and cell signalling mechanisms that account for explaining the e-NOS protective effects in liver preservation and transplantation. ? 2011 Baishideng. | 4 | Isolation and characterization of facultative mixotrophic ammonia-oxidizing bacteria from constructed wetlands显示文摘Autotrophic ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (AOB) have been widely studied in constructed wetlands systems, while mixotrophic AOB have been less thoroughly examined.Heterotrophic bacteria were isolated from wastewater and rhizospheres of macrophytes of constructed wetlands, and then cultivated in a mixotrophic medium containing ammonium and acetic acid.A molecular characterization was accomplished using ITS-PCR amplification, and phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences. Results showed the presence of 35 bacteria, among 400 initially heterotrophic isolates, that were able to remove ammonia. These 35 isolates were classified into 10 genetically different groups based on ITS pattern. Then,a collection of 10 isolates were selected because of their relatively high ammonia removal efficiencies (ARE 80%) and their phylogenetic diversity. In conditions of mixotrophy, these strains were shown to be able to grow (increase of optical density OD 660 during incubation with assimilation of nitrogen into cellular biomass) and to oxidize ammonia (important ammonia oxidation efficiencies,AOE between 79% and 87%).Among these facultative mixotrophic AOB,four isolates were genetically related to Firmicutes (Bacillus and Exiguobacterium),three isolates were affiliated to Actinobacteria (Arthrobacter) and three other isolates were associated with Proteobacteria (Pseudomonas,Ochrobactrum and Bordetella). | Soulwène Kouki Neila Saidi Fadhel M'hiri Houda Nasr Hanène Cherif Hadda Ouzari Abdennaceur Hassen | 2011 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,10: | 9
Modeling of secondary treated wastewater disinfection by UV irradiation: Effects of suspended solids content显示文摘This work aimed to study UV-resistant strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, to propose a formulation of the kinetics of secondary treated wastewater disinfection and to underline the influence of suspended solids on the inactivation kinetics of these strains. Some investigations were carried out for the validation of some simulation models, from the simplest, the kinetics model of Chick-Watson reduced to first order, to rather complex models such as multi-kinetic and Collins-Selleck models. Results revealed that the involved processes of UV irradiation were too complex to be approached by a simplified formulation, even in the case of specific strains of microorganisms and the use of nearly constant UV radiation intensity. In fact, the application of Chick-Watson model in its original form is not representative of the kinetics of UV disinfection. Modification, taking into account the speed change during the disinfection process, has not significantly improved results. On the other hand, the application of Collins-Selleck model demonstrates that it was necessary to exceed a least dose of critical radiation to start the process of inactivation. To better explain the process of inactivation, we have assumed that the action of disinfectant on the survival of lonely microorganisms is faster than its action on suspended solids protected or agglomerated to each others. We can assume in this case the existence of two inactivation kinetics during the processes (parallel and independent) of the first-order. For this reason, the application of a new kinetic model by introducing a third factor reflecting the influence of suspended solids in water on disinfection kinetics appeared to be determinant for modeling UV inactivation of P. aeruginosa in secondary treated wastewater. | Mounaouer Brahmi Noureddine Hamed Belhadi Helmi Hamdi Abdennaceur Hassen | 2010 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,8: | 8
Molecular signaling mechanisms of apoptosis in hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer显示文摘Colorectal cancer is the second most leading cause of cancer related deaths in the western countries. One of the forms of colorectal cancer is hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC), also known as 'Lynch syndrome'. It is the most common hereditary form of cancer accounting for 5%-10% of all colon cancers. HNPCC is a dominant autosomal genetic disorder caused by germ line mutations in mismatch repair genes. Human mismatch repair genes play a crucial role in genetic stability of DNA, the inactivation of which results in an increased rate of mutation and often a loss of mismatch repair function. Recent studies have shown that certain mismatch repair genes are involved in the regulation of key cellular processes including apoptosis. Thus, differential expression of mismatch repair genes particularly the contributions of MLH1 and MSH2 play important roles in therapeutic resistance to certain cytotoxic drugs such as cisplatin that is used normally as chemoprevention. An understanding of the role of mismatch repair genes in molecular signaling mechanism of apoptosis and its involvement in HNPCC needs attention for further work into this important area of cancer research, and this review article is intended to accomplish that goal of linkage of apoptosis with HNPCC. The current review was not intended to provide a comprehensive enumeration of the entire body of literature in the area of HNPCC or mismatch repair system or apoptosis; it is rather intended to focus primarily on the current state of knowledge of the role of mismatch repair proteins in molecular signaling mechanism of apoptosis as it relates to understanding of HNPCC. | Samar Hassen Nawab Ali Parimal Chowdhury | 2012 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Pathophysiology2012,3,3: | 7
Role of sirtuins in ischemia-reperfusion injury显示文摘Ischemia-reperfusion injury(IRI)remains an unresolved and complicated situation in clinical practice, especially in the case of organ transplantation.Several factors contribute to its complexity;the depletion of energy during ischemia and the induction of oxidative stress during reperfusion initiate a cascade of pathways that lead to cell death and finally to severe organ injury.Recently, the sirtuin family of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide-dependent deacetylases has gained increasing attention from researchers, due to their involvement in the modulation of a wide variety of cellular functions. There are seven mammalian sirtuins and, among them, the nuclear/cytoplasmic sirtuin 1(SIRT1)and the mitochondrial sirtuin 3(SIRT3)are ubiquitously expressed in many tissue types.Sirtuins are known to play major roles in protecting against cellular stress and in controlling metabolic pathways, which are key processes during IRI.In this review,we mainly focus on SIRT1 and SIRT3 and examine their role in modulating pathways against energy depletion during ischemia and their involvement in oxidative stress, apoptosis, microcirculatory stress and inflammation during reperfusion. We present evidence of the beneficial effects of sirtuins against IRI and emphasize the importance of developing new strategies by enhancing their action. | Eirini Pantazi Mohamed Amine Zaouali Mohamed Bejaoui Emma Folch-Puy Hassen Ben Abdennebi Joan Roselló-Catafau | 2013 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,43: | 7
Insulin like growth factor-1 increases fatty liver preservation in IGL-1 solution显示文摘AIM: To investigate the benefits of insulin like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) supplementation to serum-free institut georges lopez-1 (IGL-1) solution to protect fatty liver against cold ischemia reperfusion injury. METHODS: Steatotic livers were preserved for 24 h in IGL-1 solution supplemented with or without IGF-1 and then perfused 'ex vivo ' for 2 h at 37℃. We examined the effects of IGF-1 on hepatic damage and function (transaminases, percentage of sulfobromophthalein clearance in bile and vascular resistance). We also studied other factors associated with the poor tolerance of fatty livers to cold ischemia reperfusion injury such as mitochondrial damage, oxidative stress, nitric oxide, tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and mitogen-activated protein kinases.RESULTS: Steatotic livers preserved in IGL-1 solutionsupplemented with IGF-1 showed lower transaminase levels, increased bile clearance and a reduction in vascular resistance when compared to those preserved in IGL-1solution alone. These benefits are mediated by activation of AKT and constitutive endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS), as well as the inhibition of inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α. Mitochondrial damage and oxidative stress were also prevented.CONCLUSION: IGL-1 enrichment with IGF-1 increasedfatty liver graft preservation through AKT and eNOS activation, and prevented TNF-α release during normothermic reperfusion. | Mohamed Amine Zaouali Susagna Padrissa-Altés Ismail Ben Mosbah Hassen Ben Abdennebi Olivier Boillot Antoni Rimola Dalila Saidane-Mosbahi Joan Roselló-Catafau | 2010 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2010,16,45: | 6
Effects of Institut Georges Lopez-1 and Celsior preservation solutions on liver graft injury显示文摘AIM: To compare Institut Georges Lopez(IGL-1) and Celsior preservation solutions for hepatic endothelium relaxation and liver cold ischemia reperfusion injury(IRI).METHODS: Two experimental models were used.In the first one, acetylcholine-induced endotheliumdependent relaxation(EDR) was measured in isolated ring preparations of rat hepatic arteries preserved or not in IGL-1 or Celsior solutions(24 h at 4 ℃).To determine nitric oxide(NO) and cyclooxygenase EDR, hepatic arteries were incubated with L-NG-nitroarginine methyl ester(L-NAME), an inhibitor of endothelium nitric oxide synthase(e NOS), or with L-NAME plus indomethacin, an inhibitor of cyclooxygenase. In the second experiment, rat livers were cold-stored in IGL-1 or Celsior solutions for 24 h at 4 ℃ and then perfused 'ex vivo ' for 2 h at 37 ℃.Liver injury was assessed by transaminase measurements, liver function by bile production and bromosulfophthalein clearance, oxidative stress by malondialdehyde levels and catalase activity and alterations in cell signaling pathways by pA kt, pA MPK, eN OS and MAPKs proteins level.RESULTS: After cold storage for 24 h with either Celsior or IGL-1, EDR was only slightly altered.Infreshly isolated arteries, EDR was exclusively mediated by NO.However, cold-stored arteries showed NOand COX-dependent relaxation. The decrease in NO-dependent relaxation after cold storage was significantly more marked with Celsior. The second study indicated that IGL-1 solution obtained better liver preservation and protection against IRI than Celsior.Liver injury was reduced, function was improved and there was less oxidative stress.IGL-1 solution activated Akt and AMPK, which was concomitant with increased eN OS expression and nitrite/nitrate levels.Furthermore, MAPKs kinases were regulated in livers preserved with IGL-1 solution since reductions in p-p38, p-ERK and p-JNK protein levels were observed.CONCLUSION: IGL-1 solution preserved NO-dependent relaxation better than Celsior storage solution and enhanced liver graft preservation. | Donia Tabka Mohamed Bejaoui James Javellaud Joan Roselló-Catafau Jean-Michel Achard Hassen Ben Abdennebi | 2015 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,14: | 6
Polyethylene glycol rinse solution:An effective way to prevent ischemia-reperfusion injury显示文摘AIM:To test whether a new rinse solution containing polyethylene glycol 35(PEG-35)could prevent ischemia-reperfusion injury(IRI)in liver grafts.METHODS:Sprague-Dawley rat livers were stored in University of Wisconsin preservation solution and then washed with different rinse solutions(Ringer’s lactate solution and a new rinse solution enriched with PEG-35 at either 1 or 5 g/L)before ex vivo perfusion with Krebs-Heinseleit buffer solution. We assessed the following:liver injury(transaminase levels),mitochondrial damage(glutamate dehydrogenase activity),liver function(bile output and vascular resistance),oxidative stress(malondialdehyde),nitric oxide, liver autophagy(Beclin-1 and LCB3)and cytoskeleton integrity(filament and globular actin fraction);as well as levels of metalloproteinases(MMP2 and MMP9),adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase(AMPK),heat shock protein 70(HSP70)and heme oxygenase 1(HO-1).RESULTS:When we used the PEG-35 rinse solution, reduced hepatic injury and improved liver function were noted after reperfusion. The PEG-35 rinse solution prevented oxidative stress, mitochondrial damage, and liver autophagy.Further,it increased the expression of cytoprotective heat shock proteins such as HO-1 and HSP70,activated AMPK,and contributed to the restoration of cytoskeleton integrity after IRI.CONCLUSION:Using the rinse solution containing PEG-35 was effective for decreasing liver graft vulnerability to IRI. | Mohamed Amine Zaouali Mohamed Bejaoui Maria Calvo Emma Folch-Puy Eirini Pantazi Gianfranco Pasut Antoni Rimola Hassen Ben Abdennebi René Adam Joan Roselló-Catafau | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,43: | 6
Evaluation of IGL-1 preservation solution using an orthotopic liver transplantation model显示文摘AIM: To compare, in a pig liver transplantation model, the protective effect of UW with that of IGL-1, a high-sodium preservation solution containing polyethylene glycol (PEG) as an oncotic supply. METHODS: All livers were harvested and grafted orthotopically according to standard techniques. The livers were washed out and preserved for 7 h in IGL-1 (n = 6) or in UW solution (n = 7) at 4℃. In a sham group (n = 4), the livers underwent a 60-min warm ischemia at 37℃. The hepatocellular injury was assessed in organ preservation solution washed out from the graft at the end of ischemic storage (before revascularization), and in serum 2 h after reperfusion and daily for up to 6 d. RESULTS: Livers preserved in IGL-1 solution released markedly less AST than that preserved in the UW solution before and after revascularization (P < 0.05). Besides, the activity of creatine kinase-BB, a marker of sinusoidal lining cells injury, was higher in the UW group than in the IGL-1 group (P < 0.05). Histological results showed less necrotic regions in livers preserved in IGL-1 solution; however, no difference was observed for in? ammation. | 12 | Improvement in corrosion resistance of magnesium coating with cerium treatment显示文摘Corrosion protection afforded by a magnesium coating treated in cerium salt solution on steel substrate was investigated using open circuit potential, polarization curves, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) in 0.005 M sodium chloride solution (NaCl). The morphology of the surface was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The cerium treated coating was obtained by immersion in CeCl3 solution. The results showed that the corrosion resistance of the treated magnesium coating was improved. The corrosion potential of the treated coating was found to be nobler than that of the untreated magnesium coating and the corrosion current decreased significantly. Impedance results showed that the cerium treatment increased corrosion protection. The improvement of anti-corrosion properties was attributed to the formation of cerium oxides and hydroxides that gave rise to a physical barrier effect. | Samia Ben Hassen Latifa Bousselmi Patrice Berot El Mustafa Rezrazi Ezzeddine Triki | 2009 | Rare Metals2009,28,3: | 5
Sirtuin 1 in rat orthotopic liver transplantation:An I GL-1 preservation solution approach显示文摘AIM:To investigate the possible involvement of Sirtuin1(SIRT1)in rat orthotopic liver transplantation(OLT),when Institute Georges Lopez 1(IGL-1)preservation solution is enriched with trimetazidine(TMZ).METHODS:Male Sprague-Dawley rats were used as donors and recipients.Livers were stored in IGL-1 preservation solution for 8h at 4℃,and then underwent OLT according to Kamada’s cuff technique without arterialization. In another group, livers were stored in IGL-1 preservation solution supplemented with TMZ,at10-6 mol/L,for 8 h at 4℃and then underwent OLT.Rats were sacrificed 24 h after reperfusion, and liver and plasma samples were collected.Liver injury(transaminase levels),mitochondrial damage(glutamate dehydrogenase activity)oxidative stress(malondialdehyde levels),and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NAD+),the cofactor necessary for SIRT1 activity, were determined by biochemical methods.SIRT1 and its substrates(acFox O1,ac-p53),the precursor of NAD+,nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase(NAMPT),as well as the phosphorylation of adenosine monophosphate activated protein kinase(AMPK),p-m TOR,p-p70S6K(direct substrate of m TOR),autophagy parameters(beclin-1,LC3B)and MAP kinases(p-p38 and p-ERK)were determined by Western blot.RESULTS:Liver grafts preserved in IGL-1 solution enriched with TMZ presented reduced liver injury and mitochondrial damage compared with those preservedin IGL-1 solution alone. In addition, livers preserved in IGL-1+TMZ presented reduced levels of oxidative stress. This was consistent with enhanced SIRT1 protein expression and elevated SIRT1 activity,as indicated by decreased acetylation of p53 and Fox O1.The elevated SIRT1 activity in presence of TMZ can be attributed to the enhanced NAMPT protein and NAD+/NADH levels.Up-regulation of SIRT1 was consistent with activation of AMPK and inhibition of phosphorylation of m TOR and its direct substrate(p-p70S6K).As a consequence, autophagy mediators(beclin-1 and LC3B)were overexpressed.Furthermore,MAP kinases were regulated in livers preserved with IGL-1+TMZ,as they were characterized by enhanced p-ERK and decreased p-p38protein expression.CONCLUSION:Our study shows that IGL-1 preservation solution enriched with TMZ protects liver grafts from the IRI associated with OLT,through SIRT1 up-regulation. | Eirini Pantazi Mohamed Amine Zaouali Mohamed Bejaoui Emma Folch-Puy Hassen Ben Abdennebi Ana Teresa Varela Anabela Pinto Rolo Carlos Marques Palmeira Joan Roselló-Catafau | 2015 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,6: | 5

EEG epileptic seizure detection and classification based on dual-tree complex wavelet transform and machine learning algorithms显示文摘The visual analysis of common neurological disorders such as epileptic seizures in electroencephalography(EEG) is an oversensitive operation and prone to errors, which has motivated the researchers to develop effective automated seizure detection methods. This paper proposes a robust automatic seizure detection method that can establish a veritable diagnosis of these diseases. The proposed method consists of three steps:(i) remove artifact from EEG data using Savitzky-Golay filter and multi-scale principal component analysis(MSPCA),(ii) extract features from EEG signals using signal decomposition representations based on empirical mode decomposition(EMD),discrete wavelet transform(DWT),and dual-tree complex wavelet transform(DTCWT) allowing to overcome the non-linearity and non-stationary of EEG signals, and(iii) allocate the feature vector to the relevant class(i.e.,seizure class 'ictal' or free seizure class 'interictal') using machine learning techniques such as support vector machine(SVM),k-nearest neighbor(k-NN),and linear discriminant analysis(LDA).The experimental results were based on two EEG datasets generated from the CHB-MIT database with and without overlapping process. The results obtained have shown the effectiveness of the proposed method that allows achieving a higher classification accuracy rate up to 100% and also outperforms similar state-of-the-art methods. | Itaf Ben Slimen Larbi Boubchir Zouhair Mbarki Hassene Seddik | 2020 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2020,34,3: | 3

Static Analysis of Functionally Graded Sandwich Plates Using an Efficient and Simple Refined Theory显示文摘In this paper, a new displacement based high-order shear deformation theory is introduced for the static response of function-ally graded sandwich plate. Unlike any other theory, the number of unknown functions involved is only four, as against five in case of other shear deformation theories. The theory presented is variationally consistent, has strong similarity with classical plate theory in many aspects, does not require shear correction factor, and gives rise to transverse shear stress variation such that the transverse shear stresses vary parabolically across the thickness satisfying shear stress free surface conditions. Two common types of functionally graded sandwich plates, namely, the sandwich with functionally graded facesheet and homogeneous core and the sandwich with homogeneous facesheet and functionally graded core, are considered. Governing equations are derived from the principle of virtual displacements. The closed-form solution of a simply supported rectangular plate subjected to sinu-soidal loading has been obtained by using the Navier method. The validity of the present theory is investigated by comparing some of the present results with those of the classical, the first-order and the other higher-order theories. It can be concluded that the proposed theory is accurate and simple in solving the static bending behavior of functionally graded sandwich plates. | Hadj Henni ABDELAZIZ Hassen Ait ATMANE Ismail MECHAB Lakhdar BOUMIA Abdelouahed TOUNSI Adda Bedia El ABBAS | 2011 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2011,24,4: | 3

Review of sheep and goat pox disease: current updates on epidemiology, diagnosis, prevention and control measures in Ethiopia显示文摘Sheep pox, goat pox, and lumpy skin diseases are economically significant and contagious viral diseases of sheep, goats and cattle, respectively, caused by the genus Capripoxvirus (CaPV) of the family Poxviridae. Currently, CaPV infection of small ruminants (sheep and goats) has been distributed widely and are prevalent in Central Africa, the Middle East, Europe and Asia. This disease poses challenges to food production and distribution, affecting rural livelihoods in most African countries, including Ethiopia. Transmission occurs mainly by direct or indirect contact with infected animals. They cause high morbidity (75-100% in endemic areas) and mortality (10-85%). Additionally, the mortality rate can approach 100% in susceptible animals. Diagnosis largely relies on clinical symptoms, confirmed by laboratory testing using real-time PCR, electron microscopy, virus isolation, serology and histology. Control and eradication of sheep pox virus (SPPV), goat pox virus (GTPV), and lumpy skin disease (LSDV) depend on timely recognition of disease eruption, vector control, and movement restriction. To date, attenuated vaccines originating from KSGPV O-180 strains are effective and widely used in Ethiopia to control CaPV throughout the country. This vaccine strain is clinically safe to control CaPV in small ruminants but not in cattle which may be associated with insufficient vaccination coverage and the production of low-quality vaccines. | Girma Zewdie Getaw Derese Belayneh Getachew Hassen Belay Mirtneh Akalu | 2021 | Animal Diseases2021,1,4: | 2
