1Rotational assisted endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography in patients with reconstructive gastrointestinal surgical anatomy显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the success rates of performing therapy utilizing a rotational assisted enteroscopy device in endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP) in surgically altered anatomy patients. METHODS: Between June 1, 2009 and November 8, 2012, we performed 42 ERCPs with the use of rotational enteroscopy for patients with altered anatomy(39 with gastric bypass Roux-en-Y, 2 with Billroth Ⅱ gastrectomy, and 1 with hepaticojejunostomy associated with liver transplant). The indications for ERCP were: choledocholithiasis: 13 of 42(30.9%), biliary obstruction suggested on imaging: 20 of 42(47.6%), suspected sphincter of Oddi dysfunction: 4 of 42(9.5%), abnormal liver enzymes: 1 of 42(2.4%), ascending cholangitis: 2 of 42(4.8%), and bile leak: 2 of 42(4.8%). All procedures were completed with the Olympus SIF-Q180 enteroscope and the Endo-Ease Discovery SB overtube produced by Spirus Medical. RESULTS: Successful visualization of the major ampulla was accomplished in 32 of 42 procedures(76.2%). Cannulation of the bile duct was successful in 26 of 32 procedures reaching the major ampulla(81.3%). Successful therapeutic intervention was completed in 24 of 26 procedures in which the bileduct was cannulated(92.3%). The overall intention to treat success rate was 64.3%. In terms of cannulation success, the intention to treat success rate was 61.5%. Ten out of forty two patients(23.8%) required admission to the hospital after procedure for abdominal pain and nausea, and 3 of those 10 patients(7.1%) had a diagnosis of post-ERCP pancreatitis. 2桥接组合式内固定系统与锁定钢板治疗锁骨中段骨折的Meta分析显示文摘目的:目前临床上治疗锁骨中段骨折最常用的是锁定钢板,桥接组合式内固定系统是一种新型内固定器械,其用于治疗锁骨中段骨折时间并不长,但是国内许多学者已经发表了很多篇临床研究来比较两者的疗效,但是尚无统一意见。文章对桥接组合式内固定系统和锁定钢板治疗锁骨中段骨折的临床疗效进行Meta分析。方法:应用计算机检索PubMed、Medline、The Cochrane Library、迈特思创FMRS外文医学信息平台、OVID医学期刊全文数据库、维普、中国知网和万方数字化期刊平台,收集2010年1月至2020年4月发表的对比桥接组合式内固定系统和锁定钢板治疗锁骨中段骨折的临床对照试验。根据纳入标准和排除标准筛选文献,采用Jadad量表和MINORS评分表进行文献质量评估,对纳入的研究进行质量评价以及数据提取,选择手术时间、术中出血量、骨折愈合时间、并发症及术后1年肩关节功能评分作为Meta分析的评价指标,利用Cochrane协作网提供的RevMan 5.2软件对纳入研究结果进行Meta分析。结果:①文章纳入了中文及外文文献共9篇,其中随机对照试验3篇,非随机对照试验6篇,共计613例锁骨中段骨折的患者,其中桥接组280例,钢板组333例;②通过Meta分析可得:两种方法在术后肩关节功能(MD=3.23,95%CI:0.13-6.33,P=0.04)方面差异无显著性意义,但桥接组在手术时间(MD=-4.62,95%CI:-9.08至-0.16,P=0.04)、术中出血量(MD=-15.29,95%CI:-15.81至-14.47,P<0.00001)、骨折愈合时间(MD=-2.88,95%CI:-3.10至-2.65,P<0.00001)和总体并发症(OR=0.21,95%CI:0.09-0.48,P=0.0002)方面均优于钢板组。结论:桥接组合式内固定系统与锁定钢板两种内固定技术治疗锁骨中段骨折,均能达到预期的治疗效果,两种修复方法在术后肩关节功能方面无显著差异,桥接组合式内固定系统在手术时间、术中出血量、骨折愈合时间及总体并发症方面较锁定钢板有一定优势。但限于该研究方法学质量的影响,文章结果还需谨慎对待,未来尚需要更多大样本、多中心随机对照试验进一步证实。吴桐 熊鹰 李焕龙 陈勇 刘璐赟 张珑 秦晶 Md Ariful Haque 2021中国组织工程研究2021,25,18:9
3Constrained coordinated distributed control of smart grid with asynchronous information exchange显示文摘Smart grid constrained optimal control is a complex issue due to the constant growth of grid complexity and the large volume of data available as input to smart device control.In this context,traditional centralized control paradigms may suffer in terms of the timeliness of optimization results due to the volume of data to be processed and the delayed asynchronous nature of the data transmission.To address these limits of centralized control,this paper presents a coordinated,distributed algorithm based on distributed,local controllers and a central coordinator for exchanging summarized global state information.The proposed model for exchanging global state information is resistant to fluctuations caused by the inherent interdependence between local controllers,and is robust to delays in information exchange.In addition,the algorithm features iterative refinement of local state estimations that is able to improve local controller ability to operate within network constraints.Application of the proposed coordinated,distributed algorithm through simulation shows its effectiveness in optimizing a global goal within a complex distribution system operating under constraints,while ensuring network operation stability under varying levels of information exchange delay,and with a range of network sizes.Benjamin MILLAR Danchi JIANG Md.Enamul HAQUE 2015Journal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy2015,3,4:7
4SCOUR MITIGATION AT BRIDGE PIERS USING SACRIFICIAL PILES显示文摘To mitigate scour around bridge piers, sacrificial piles are economic method where natural processes are involved. The arrangement should be such that scoured materials from the sacrificial piles should have enough volume to fill the scour hole created upstream of the pier in such a way that sediments are trapped inside the scour hole. This concept differs from earlier study made with sacrificial piles that mainly deals to reduce the strength of horseshoe vortex. To determine the effect of sacrificial piles for scour mitigation, alternative arrangements of piles were tested in front of a rectangular pier under clear-water condition and found that when the group of piles is placed at a distance of twice the projected width of the pier, for which percentage of blockage of the pier width is 60%, the scour volume can be reduced upto 61% while the maximum scour depth can be reduced upto 50%.M. 5Complications associated with prone positioning in elective spinal surgery显示文摘Complications associated with prone surgical positioning during elective spine surgery have the potential to cause serious patient morbidity.Although many ofthese complications remain uncommon,the range of possible morbidities is wide and includes multiple organ systems.Perioperative visual loss(POVL)is a well described,but uncommon complication that may occur due to ischemia to the optic nerve,retina,or cerebral cortex.Closed-angle glaucoma and amaurosis have been reported as additional etiologies for vision loss following spinal surgery.Peripheral nerve injuries,such as those caused by prolonged traction to the brachial plexus,are more commonly encountered postoperative events.Myocutaneous complications including pressure ulcers and compartment syndrome may also occur after prone positioning,albeit rarely.Other uncommon positioning complications such as tongue swelling resulting in airway compromise,femoral artery ischemia,and avascular necrosis of the femoral head have also been reported.Many of these are well-understood and largely avoidable through thoughtful attention to detail.Other complications,such as POVL,remain incompletely understood and thus more difficult to predict or prevent.Here,the current literature on the complications of prone positioning for spine surgery is reviewed to increase awareness of the spectrum of potential complications and to inform spine surgeons of strategies to minimize the risk of prone patient morbidity.J Mason De Passe Mark A Palumbo Maahir Haque Craig P Eberson Alan H Daniels 2015World Journal of Orthopedics2015,6,3:7
6Prognosis of lymphotropic invasive micropapillary breast carcinoma analyzed by using data from the National Cancer Database显示文摘Background:Invasive micropapillary carcinoma(IMPC)is an uncommon subtype of breast cancer.Previous studies of this subtype demonstrated a higher propensity for lymph node metastases as compared with invasive ductal carci-noma(IDC).The purpose of the present study was to determine the clinical characteristics,outcomes,and propensity for lymph node metastasis of patients with IMPC of the breast recorded in the National Cancer Database(NCDB).Methods:Records of patients with IMPC diagnosed between 2004 and 2014 were retrieved from the NCDB.Log-rank test was performed to evaluate associations of clinical characteristics with overall survival(OS).Cox proportional hazards model was used to determine variables associated with OS.Results:Overall,2660 patients with IMPC met the selection criteria;the 5-year OS rate was 87.5%and 24.9%of patients had nodal involvement at presentation.Patients with≥4 positive lymph nodes had shorter OS than node-negative patients,whereas patients with 1-3 positive nodes had similar OS to node-negative patients.Age<65 years,receipt of radiotherapy,and estrogen receptor positivity were also associated with prolonged OS.The benefit of radiotherapy was limited to IMPC patients undergoing lumpectomy;there was no benefit for the patients undergoing mastectomy(regardless of nodal positivity/negativity).Conclusions:Favorable prognostic factors of IMPC patients included age<65 years,<4 positive lymph nodes,receipt of radiotherapy,and estrogen receptor positivity.The results presented herein suggest a survival benefit asso-ciated with radiotherapy in IMPC treatment,though this may be limited to the patients treated with lumpectomy.Gary D.Lewis Yan Xing Waqar Haque Tejal Patel Mary Schwartz Albert Chen Andrew Farach Sandra S.Hatch E.Brian Butler Jenny Chang Bin S.Teh 2019Cancer Communications2019,39,1:7
7Response to endoscopic therapy for biliary anastomotic strictures in deceased versus living donor liver transplantation显示文摘BACKGROUND:Endoscopic therapy has been successful in the management of biliary complications after both deceased donor liver transplantation(DDLT) and living donor liver transplantation(LDLT).LDLT is thought to be associated with higher rates of biliary complications,but there are few studies comparing the success of endoscopic management of anastomotic strictures between the two groups.This study aims to compare our experience in the endoscopic management of anastomotic strictures in DDLT versus LDLT.METHODS:This is a retrospective database review of all liver transplant patients undergoing endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP) after liver transplantation.The frequency of anastomotic stricture and the time to develop and to resolve anastomotic stricture were compared between DDLT and LDLT.The response of anastomotic stricture to endoscopic therapy was also analyzed.RESULTS:A total of 362 patients underwent liver transplantation between 2003 and 2011,with 125 requiring ERCP to manage biliary complications.Thirty-three(9.9%) cases of DDLT and 8(27.6%) of LDLT(P=0.01) were found to have anastomotic stricture.When comparing DDLT and LDLT,there was no difference in the mean time to the development of anastomotic strictures(98±17 vs 172±65 days,P=0.11),likelihood of response to ERCP [22(66.7%) vs 6(75.0%),P=0.69],mean time to the resolution of anastomotic strictures(268±77 vs 125±37 days,P=0.34),and the number of ERCPs required to achieve resolution(3.9±0.4 vs 4.7±0.9,P=0.38).CONCLUSIONS:Endoscopic therapy is effective in the majority of biliary complications relating to liver transplantation.Anastomotic strictures occur more frequently in LDLT compared with DDLT,with equivalent endoscopic treatment response and outcomes for both groups.Calvin HY Chan Fergal Donnellan Michael F Byrne Alan Coss Mazhar Haque Holly Wiesenger Charles H Scudamore Urs P Steinbrecher Alan A Weiss Eric M Yoshida 2013Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2013,12,5:7
8Intracellular Signals of T Cell Costimulation显示文摘Ligation of T cell receptor (TCR) alone is insufficient to induce full activation of T lymphocytes. Additional ligand-receptor interactions (costimulation) on antigen presenting cells (APCs) and T cells are required. T cell costimulation has been shown to be essential for eliciting efficient T cell responses,involving all phases during T cell development. However,the mechanisms by which costimulation affects the function of T cells still need to be elucidated. In recent years,advances have been made in studies of costimulation as potential therapies in cancer,infectious disease as well as autoimmune disease. In this review,we discussed intracellular costimulation signals that regulate T cell proliferation,cell cycle progression,cytokine production,survival,and memory development. In general,the pathway of phosphoinositide-3 kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (PKB,also known as Akt)/nuclear factor κB (NF-κB) might be central to many costimulatory effects. 11Two-Dimensional Transition Metal Oxide and Chalcogenide-Based Photocatalysts显示文摘Two-dimensional(2D) transition metal oxide and chalcogenide(TMO&C)-based photocatalysts have recently attracted significant attention for addressing the current worldwide challenges of energy shortage and environmental pollution. The ultrahigh surface area and unconventional physiochemical, electronic and optical properties of 2D TMO&Cs have been demonstrated to facilitate photocatalytic applications. This review provides a concise overview of properties, synthesis methods and applications of 2D TMO&C-based photocatalysts. Particular attention is paid on the emerging strategies to improve the abilities of light harvesting and photoinduced charge separation for enhancing photocatalytic performances,which include elemental doping, surface functionalization as well as heterojunctions with semiconducting and conductive materials. 12Anti-bacterial activity and brine shrimp lethality bioassay of methanolic extracts of fourteen different edible vegetables from Bangladesh显示文摘Objective:To investigate the antibacterial and cytotoxic activity of fourteen different edible vegetables methanolic extract from Bangladesh.Methods:The antibacterial activity was evaluated using disc diffusion assay method against 12 bacteria(both gram positive and gram negative).The plant extracts were also screened for cytotoxic activity using the brine shrimp lethality bioassay method and the lethal concentrations(LC_(50))were determined at confidence intervals by analyzing the data on a computer loaded with'Finney Programme??Results:All the vegetable extracts showed low to elevated levels of antibacterial activity against most of the tested strains(zone of inhibition=5-28 mm).The most active extract against all bacterial strains was from Xanthium indicum which showed remarkable antibacterial activity having the diameter of growth inhibition zone ranging from 12 to 28 mm followed by Alternanthera sessilis(zone of inhibition=6-21 mm).All extracts exhibited considerable general toxicity towards brine shrimps.The LC_(50)value of the tested extracts was within the range of 8.447 to 60.323μg/mL with respect to the positive control(vincristine sulphate)which was 0.91μg/mL.Among all studied extracts,Xanthium indicum displayed the highest cytotoxic effect with LC_(50)value of 8.447μg/mL.Conclusions:The results of the present investigation suggest that most of the studied plants are potentially good source of antibacterial and anticancer agents.M.Obayed Ullah Mahmuda Haque Kaniz Fatima Urmi Abu Hasanat Md.Zulfiker Elichea Synthi Anita Momtaj Begum Kaiser Hamid 2013Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2013,3,1:5
13Comparative analysis of some selected macronutrients of soil in orange orchard and degraded forests in Chittagong Hill Tracts,Bangladesh显示文摘Status of organic carbon (C), total nitrogen (N), available potassium (K), calcium (Ca) and phosphorus (P) in three different depths (0-5 cm, 5-15 cm and 15?30 cm) on two hill slopes of 35% and 55% in orange orchard cultivated by the Mro tribe of Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHTs) were evaluated and compared with those in degraded bush forests, through digging three profiles in each land use. The content of all the five nutrients was found to be higher in the soil of orange orchard than in the soil of forest. But the variation was not consistent for both the slopes. The content varied depth wise also, having the highest value in surface soil in case of both the land uses on both the slopes. A mean available K content was significantly higher in orange orchard than in forest on 55% slope, while it was lower on 35% slope. Surface soil contained the nutrients of K and Ca with the amount of 0.2905-mg·g^(-1) soil and 3.025-mg·g^(-1)soil respectively in the orchard, while 0.1934-mg·g^(-1) soil and 1.6083-mg·g^(-1) soil were respectively in the forest. Organic carbon and total nitrogen were found more or less similar in surface soil on both the land uses showing a slight difference. Available P was found only in orange orchard, and in forest it was too little in amount to detect by the spectrophotometer. 14An experimental study on thermal characteristics of nanofluid with graphene and multi-wall carbon nanotubes显示文摘High-thermal conductivity enhancement of nanofluid is one of the promising topics of the nanoscience research field. This work reports the experimental study on the preparation of graphene(GN) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes(MWCNTs) based nanofluids with the assistance of sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate(SDBS) and sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS) surfactants, and their thermal behaviors. The present work suggests not a solution, but a solution approach and deduces a new conclusion by trying to resolve the agglomeration problem and improve the dispersibility of nanoparticles in the base fluid. 15LOCAL SCOUR ESTIMATION AT BRIDGE SITE: MODIFICATION AND APPLICATION OF LACEY FORMULA显示文摘In the recent years, it has been established that b/h or h/b (b = length of the structure in the lateral direction and h = approach flow depth) is the dominant factor for the estimation of local scour depth around abutments and piers. One of the major limitations of the Lacey formula is that it predicts only one value of the scour depth for a specific river because of the absence of important parameters b and h. Therefore, its application is quite uncertain for variable b and h. Considering its limitations and experimental facts of flow concentration and shear stress amplification close to above structures, the original Lacey formula is modified introducing the parameters b and h. 16Comparative evaluation of physical properties in soils of orange orchard and bushy forest in chittagong hill tracts, Banglandesh显示文摘对孟加拉国丘陵地带Mro部落经营的桔园与灌木林35%和55%两种坡地土壤物理性质进行了比较与评价。每一块用地内挖掘3个土壤剖面采集不同深度(0-5cm,5-15cm and 15-30cm)的土壤样品,测定土壤水分、有机质含量和土壤密度。最大持水量、田间持水量、干或湿土壤容重和土壤孔隙度的测定仅限于表层土壤。两种坡地桔园3个深度的土壤水分含量均显著高于灌木林地相同深度的土壤水分。桔园在55%坡地内土壤有机质含量低于林地含量值,而在35%坡地内的含量值则高于林地值。两块样地内上述两项测定值均在表层土壤中最高,且随土层深度的增加而降低。与灌木林地比较,桔园地表层土壤最大持水量、孔隙度和3个不同深度的土壤密度均较低。两块用地内不同坡地的表层土田间持水量有所差异,且桔园地干或湿表层土壤容重高于林地内的数值。表5参23。Mohammad Shaheed Hossain Chowdhury Md. 17PSO-based Parameter Tuning for a TwoDegree-of-Freedom IMC Scheme and Its Application to Paper Basis Weight Control显示文摘Basis weight is an important indicator for evaluating paper quality and a major factor directly affecting the economic benefits of enterprises.Focusing on the large time-delay,time-varying,and nonlinear characteristics of a basis weight control system,a two-degree-of-freedom(TDF)internal model control(IMC)method based on a particle swarm optimization(PSO)algorithm was proposed.The method took the integral of time multiplied by the absolute error(ITAE)as the objective function,and the PSO algorithm was used to optimize the time constant of the tuning IMC filter.The simulation results for the control system under the proposed TDF-IMC method based on the PSO algorithm demonstrate good set-point tracking performance,strong anti-interference capabilities,and good robustness properties.The application results revealed that the basis weight fluctuation range of the paper was±2 g/m2,which significantly improved both the control quality and the product quality.Wei Tang Zhimin Yuan Wenjuan Shan MdMuhie Menul Haque 2019Paper And Biomaterials2019,4,4:4
18Enhancement of Growth and Grain Yield of Rice in Nutrient Deficient Soils by Rice Probiotic Bacteria显示文摘Plant associated bacteria are promising alternatives to chemical fertilizers for plant growth and yield improvement in an eco-friendly manner.In this study,rice associated bacteria were isolated and assessed for mineral phosphate solubilization and indole-3-acetic acid(IAA) production activity in vitro.Six promising strains,which were tentatively identified as phylotaxon Pseudochrobactrum sp.(BRRh-1),Burkholderia sp.(BRRh-2),Burkholderia sp.(BRRh-3),Burkholderia sp.(BRRh-4),Pseudomonas aeruginosa(BRRh-5 and BRRh-6) based on their 16 S rRNA gene phylogeny,exhibited significant phosphate solubilizing activity in National Botanical Research Institute phosphate growth medium,and BRRh-4 displayed the highest phosphate solubilizing activity,followed by BRRh-5.The p H of the culture broth declined,resulting in increase of growth rate of bacteria at p H 7,which might be due to organic acid secretion by the strains.In presence of L-tryptophan,five isolates synthesized IAA and the maximum IAA was produced by BRRh-2,followed by BRRh-1.Application of two most efficient phosphate solubilizing isolates BRRh-4 and BRRh-5 by root dipping(colonization) of seedling and spraying at the flowering stage significantly enhanced the growth and grain yield of rice variety BRRI dhan-29.Interestingly,application of both strains with 50% of recommended nitrogen,phosphorus and potassium fertilizers produced equivalent or higher grain yield of rice compared to the control grown with full recommended fertilizer doses,which suggests that these strains may have the potential to be used as bioinoculants for sustainable rice production.Md Mohibul Alam KHAN Effi HAQUE Narayan Chandra PAUL Md Abdul KHALEQUE Saleh M. 19Biosynthesis of Flower-Shaped CuO Nanostructures and Their Photocatalytic and Antibacterial Activities显示文摘Copper oxide nanoflowers(CuO-NFs)have been synthesized through a novel green route using Tulsi leaves-extracted eugenol(4-allyl-2-methoxyphenol)as reducing agent.Characterizations results reveal the growth of crystalline singlephase CuO-NFs with monoclinic structure.The prepared CuO-NFs can effectively degrade methylene blue with 90%efficiency.They also show strong barrier against E.coli(27±2 mm)at the concentration of 100μg mL−1,while at the concentration of 25μg mL−1 weak barrier has been found against all examined bacterial organisms.The results provide important evidence that CuO-NFs have sustainable performance in methylene blue degradation as well as bacterial organisms.Hafsa Siddiqui MSQureshi Fozia Zia Haque 2020Nano-Micro Letters2020,12,2:4
20Low temperature annealing of metals with electrical wind force effects显示文摘Conventional annealing is a slow, high temperature process that involves heating atoms uniformly, i.e., in both defective and crystalline regions. This study explores an electrical alternative for energy efficiency,where moderate current density is used to generate electron wind force that produces the same outcome as the thermal annealing process. We demonstrate this on a zirconium alloy using in-situ electron back scattered diffraction(EBSD) inside a scanning electron microscope(SEM) and juxtaposing the results with that from thermal annealing. Contrary to common belief that resistive heating is the dominant factor, we show that 5 × 10~4 A/cm^2 current density can anneal the material in less than 15 min at only135?C. The resulting microstructure is essentially the same as that obtained with 600?C processing for360 min. We propose that unlike temperature, the electron wind force specifically targets the defective regions, which leads to unprecedented time and energy efficiency.
