| 2 | Epistaxis in end stage liver disease masquerading as severe upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage显示文摘AIM:To describe the prevalence,diagnosis,treatment,and outcomes of end stage liver disease(ESLD) patients with severe epistaxis thought to be severe upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage(UGIH).METHODS:This observational single center study included all consecutive patients with ESLD and epistaxis identified from consecutive subjects hospitalized with suspected UGIH and prospectively enrolled in our databases of severe UGIH between 1998 and 2011.RESULTS:A total of 1249 patients were registered for severe UGIH in the data basis,461(36.9%) were cirrhotics. Epistaxis rather than UGIH was the bleeding source in 20 patients. All patients had severe coagulopathy. Epistaxis was initially controlled in all cases. Fifteen(75%) subjects required posterior nasal packing and 2(10%) embolization in addition to correction of coagulopathy. Five(25%) patients died in the hospital,12(60%) received orthotopic liver transplantation(OLT),and 3(15%) were discharged without OLT. | 3 | Using artificial neural network to predict velocity of sound in liquid water as a function of ambient temperature, electrical and magnetic fields显示文摘One of the main thermophysical properties of liquid water is velocity of sound.However,the effect of different externalities on velocity of sound in liquid water is not well known.Therefore,in current study,by designing an artificial neural network(ANN)velocity of sound in liquid water under different externalities is predicted.Selected externalities are ambient temperature from 272.65 K to 348.43 K,different electrical fields in range of 0 V/m to 4.03E+9 V/m and magnetic fields in range of 0-10.0594 T.To prepare of reference dataset for entry to ANN,numerical and experimental data as macroscopic reference data are extracted from microscopic characteristic of water HB strength.In order to achieve an appropriate ANN,ANN architecture sensitivity analysis is conducted by using an iterative algorithm.Learning procedure in the selected feed-forward back propagation ANN is done by hyperbolic transfer functions.Also,Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm is utilized for the optimization process.ANNs output showed that the maximum MSE in prediction of velocity of sound is 0.00066.Also,the minimum of correlation coefficient in prediction of velocity of sound is 0.99131.Based on the ANNs outputs,weights and bias,an equation to predict of velocity of sound in liquid water under intended externalities is proposed.Also,according to weight sensitivity analysis input of electrical fields with 63%relative importance percentage has a grater impression on the response variable of velocity of sound in liquid water.©2016 Shanghai Jiaotong University.Published by Elsevier B.V. | Hashem Nowruzi Hassan Ghassemi | 2016 | Journal of Ocean Engineering and Science2016,1,3: | 3 |
| 4 | Effect of Chromite-Silica Sands Characteristics on Performance of Ladle Filler Sands for Continuous Casting显示文摘Free opening rate is mainly determined by the performance of the ladle filler sand. High free opening rates of ladles are required in steel making to improve steel quality. Chromite ladle filler sands are one of the most widely used ladle filler sand. Several operative variables and materials characteristics affect the performance of the sands. Three sets of chromite ladle filler sands were selected and researches were focused on the sintering behaviour and performance of the sands under operative conditions. The effect of particle size distribution on sintering, microstructure, flowability, and permeability were presented. In all cases, the particle size varies from 0.1 to 1.5 mm corresponding to free flowing powders. One of the samples has higher permeability factor in comparison with others due to low particle size distribution. | 7 | Experimental study of a heavy fuel oil atomization by pressure-swirl injector in the application of entrained flow gasifier显示文摘The available SMD(Sauter mean diameter) correlations on pressure-swirl injectors predict droplet sizing very different from each other, especially for heavy fuels. Also there was a lack in the literature for comparing available correlations. So an experimental study was conducted on a heavy fuel oil(HFO) spray, Mazut 380. A pressure swirl injector was designed and fabricated. The experiments for Mazut at 40℃ and 80℃ were compared with the results for water, including spray half cone angle, breakup length and mean droplet diameter,at different injection pressures. Lower spray angle, higher breakup length and larger droplets were observed for lower injection pressures and higher liquid viscosity. SMD was about 75 μm for water and about 87 μm for Mazut at 80℃. The results for droplet mean diameter were also compared with correlations from previous studies on pressure swirl atomizers. | 8 | 滑行艇半浸式螺旋桨的水动力学特性(英文)显示文摘Demand for high-speed marine vehicles (HSMVs) is high among both commercial and naval users. It is the duty of the marine vessel's designer to provide a hull and propulsion system that diminishes drag, improves propulsive efficiency, increases safety and improves maneuverability. From the propulsor side, surface piercing propellers (SPPs) should improve performance. Unlike immersed propellers, behavior of the SPP is affected by depth of immersion, Weber number and shaft inclination angle. This paper uses a practical numerical method to predict the hydrodynamic characteristics of an SPP. The critical advance velocity ratio is derived using the Weber number and pitch ratio in the transition mode, then the potential based boundary element method (BEM) is used on the engaged surfaces.
