1Using balance of seasonal herbage supply and demand to inform sustainable grassland management on the Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau显示文摘To mitigate the impacts of grassland degradation on the Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau(QTP), in recent decades China has been implementing large-scale conservation programs and has invested about 42 billion CNY(7 billion USD). However, these programs are faced with major challenges involving trade-offs between ecological function, livestock production and income of pastoralists.Scientific assessments, as well as technical and policy issues, have not fully captured the complex ecological,social and economic dynamics of the challenges facing grassland management on the QTP. Pastoral livestock production on the QTP is characterized by imbalance in both quality and quantity between livestock seasonal nutrient requirements and herbage production, which forces pastoralists to keep larger numbers of livestock for longer periods, leading to overgrazing. 2Microwave-assisted synthesis of photoluminescent glutathione-capped Au/Ag nanoclusters: A unique sensor-on-a-nanoparticle for metal ions, anions, and small molecules显示文摘Even though great advances have been achieved in the synthesis of luminescent metal nanoclusters, it is still challenging to develop metal nanoclusters with high quantum efficiency as well as multiple sensing functionalities. Here, we demonstrate the rapid preparation of glutathione-capped Au/Ag nanoclusters (GS-Au/Ag NCs) using microwave irradiation and their unique sensing capacities. Compared to bare GS-Au NCs, the doped Au/Ag NCs possess an enhanced quantum yield (7.8% compared to 2.2% for GS-Au NCs). Several characterization techniques were used to elucidate the atomic composition, particulate character, and electronic structure of the fabricated NCs. According to the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and X-ray absorption near-edge structure (XANES) spectra, a significant amount of Au exists in the oxidized state as Au(I), and the Ag atoms are positively charged. In contrast to those nanoclusters that detect only one analyte, the GS-Au/Ag NCs can be used as a versatile sensor for metal ions, anions, and small molecules. 3Characteristics of Twin Lamellar Structure in Magnesium Alloy during Room Temperature Dynamic Plastic Deformation显示文摘The microstructures of the as-rolled magnesium alloy subjected to dynamic plastic deformation along the rolling direction have been investigated.Mostly one {1012} twin variant or a twin variant pair is activated in a grain,leading to a parallel {1012} twin lamellar structure.At the stage of twinning-dominated deformation(ε<~8%),lamellar thickness decreases significantly with strain,from 5.55 to 2.49μm.The evolution of lamellar thickness during deformation is directly related to {1012} twin activity.When plastic strain is greater than ~8%,the twin lamellar structure disappears because the volume fraction of twins almost saturates at a value of ~90%.Chao Lou Xiyan Zhang Gaolin Duan Jian Tu Qing Liu 2014Journal of Materials Science & Technology2014,30,1:5
4A DNA based model for addition computation显示文摘Much effort has been made to solve computing problems by using DNA—an organic simulating method, which in some cases is preferable to the current electronic computer. However, No one at present has proposed an effective and applicable method to solve addition problem with molecular algorithm due to the difficulty in solving the carry problem which can be easily solved by hardware of an electronic computer. In this article, we solved this problem by employing two kinds of DNA strings, one is called result and operation string while the other is named carrier. The result and operation string contains some carry information by its own and denotes the ultimate result while the carrier is just for carrying use. 7Selective conversion of biomass-derived furfuryl alcohol into n-butyl levulinate over sulfonic acid functionalized TiO_(2) nanotubes显示文摘Sulfonic acid functionalized titanate nanotubes were prepared by the sulphonation reaction of hydrothermally synthesized TiO_(2) nanotubes(TNTs) using chlorosulfonic acid as the sulfating agent.The as-prepared catalysts were characterized by fourier transform infrared(FT-IR)spectroscopy,transmission electron microscopy(TEM),scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(SEM-EDX),Xray diffraction(XRD) analysis,thermogravimetry-differential thermal gravimetry(TG-DTG) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)techniques.The characterization results revealed that the catalysts retained the tubular structure of the TNTs and possessed a large number of active sulfonic acid sites.The catalytic performance of the catalysts for the synthesis of n-butyl levulinate was investigated via the alcoholysis of biomass-derived furfuryl alcohol under atmospheric pressure.The effects of the reaction factors such as the catalyst dosage,reaction time,and temperature on the alcoholysis of the furfuryl alcohol were systematically studied.Under mild conditions,about 79.9% yield of n-butyl levulinate was achieved.In addition,the catalysts showed a stable catalytic performance after four consecutive cycles.Furthermore,no leaching of the active species was observed during the hot filtration testing,which can be attributed to the covalently linked –SO_(3)H groups on the TNTs surface.In addition,the opened tubular nanostructure of the catalyst and the introduced strong Br?nsted acid sites exhibited synergistic effects,which facilitated the selective conversion of the furfuryl alcohol to butyl levulinate.Shuolin Zhou Jinhua Lai Xianxiang Liu Geng Huang Gaolin You Qiong Xu Dulin Yin 2022Green Energy & Environment2022,7,2:3

11Microstructure and compressive/tensile characteristic of large size Zr-based bulk metallic glass prepared by laser solid forming显示文摘The large size, crack-free Zr_(55)Cu_(30)Al_(10)Ni_(5) bulk metallic glass(BMGs) with the diameter of 54 mm and the height of 15 mm was built by laser solid forming additive manufacturing technology, whose size is larger than the critical diameter by casting. The microstructure, tensile and compressive deformation behaviors and fracture morphology of laser solid formed Zr_(55)Cu_(30)Al_(10)Ni_5 BMGs were investigated. It is found that the crystallization mainly occurs in the heat-affected zones of deposition layers, which consist of Al_5Ni_3Zr_2, NiZr_2, ZrCu, CuZr_2 phases. The content of amorphous phase in the deposit is about 63%.Under the compressive loading, the deposit presents no plasticity before fracture occurs. The fracture process is mainly controlled by the shear stress and the compressive shear fracture angles of about39?. The compressive strength reaches 1452 MPa, which is equivalent to that of as-Cast Zr_(55)Cu_(30)Al_(10)Ni_5 BMGs, and there exist vein-like patterns, river-like patterns and smooth regions at the compressive fractography. Under the tensile loading, the deposit presents the brittle fracture pattern without plastic deformation. The fracture process exhibits normal fracture model, and the tensile shear fracture angle of about 90?. The tensile strength is only about 609 MPa, and the tensile fractography mainly consists of micro-scaled cores and vein-like patterns, dimple-like patterns, chocolate-like patterns and smooth regions.
