| 1 | Classification of submucosal tumors in the gastrointestinal tract显示文摘This review is part two of three, which will present an update on the classification of gastrointestinal submucosal tumors. Part one treats of the diagnosis and part three of the therapeutic methods regarding gastrointestinal submucosal tumors. In the past there has been some confusion as to the classification of gastrointestinal submucosal tumors. Changes in classifications have emerged due to recent advances in mainly immunohistochemistry and electron microscopy. The aim of this paper is to update the reader on the current classification. Literature searches were performed to find information related to classification of gastrointestinal submucosal tumors. Based on these searches the twelve most frequent submucosal tumor types were chosen for description of their classification. The factors that indicate whether tumors are benign or malignant are mainly size and number of mitotic counts. Gastrointestinal stromal tumors are defined mainly by their CD117 positivity. In the future, there should be no more confusion between gastrointestinal stromal tumors and other types of submucosal tumors.2007 The WJG Press. | 5 | Therapeutic procedures for submucosal tumors in the gastrointestinal tract显示文摘This review is part three of three and will present an update on the therapeutic options and procedures concerning gastrointestinal (GI) submucosal tumors (SMTs). The aim of this paper is to investigate the treatments of GI SMTs and to present a case of a gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST). Literature searches were performed to find information on therapy for GI SMTs. Based on these searches, the optimal therapeutic procedures could be outlined. The choice of treatment of localized tumors is endoscopic resection if possible or, alternatively, laparoscopic resection or surgical resection by an open procedure. However, benign SMTs should only be excised if symptoms are present, and GISTs should be treated with particular precautions. Part two identifies the classification and part three the therapeutic methods regarding GI SMTs. Submucosal tumors are typically asymptomatic and therefore encountered incidentally. Advances in diagnostic tools for gastrointestinal submucosal tumors have emerged over the past decade. The aim of this paper is to provide the readers with guidelines for the use of diagnostic procedures, when a submucosal tumor is suspected. Literature searches were performed to find information on diagnostics for gastrointestinal submucosal tumors. Based on the searches, the optimal diagnostic procedures and specific features of the submucosal tumors could be outlined. Standard endoscppy, capsule endoscopy and push-and-pull enteroscopy (PPE) together with barium contrast X-ray do not alone provide sufficient information, when examining submucosal tumors. | 7 | Exhuming the Meso-Cenozoic Kyrgyz Tianshan and Siberian Altai-Sayan:A review based on low-temperature thermochronology显示文摘Thermochronological datasets for the Kyrgyz Tianshan and Siberian Altai-Sayan within Central Asia reveal a punctuated exhumation history during the Meso-Cenozoic.In this paper,the datasets for both regions are collectively reviewed in order to speculate on the links between the Meso-Cenozoic exhumation of the continental Eurasian interior and the prevailing tectonic processes at the plate margins.Whereas most of the thermochronological data across both regions document late Jurassic-Cretaceous regional basement cooling,older landscape relics and dissecting fault zones throughout both regions preserve Triassic and Cenozoic events of rapid cooling,respectively.Triassic cooling is thought to reflect the Qjangtang- Eurasia collision and/or rifting/subsidence in the West Siberian basin.Alternatively,this cooling signal could be related with the terminal terrane-amalgamation of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt.For the Kygyz Tianshan,late Jurassic-Cretaceous regional exhumation and Cenozoic fault reactivations can be linked with specific tectonic events during the closure of the Palaeo-Tethys and Neo-Tethys Oceans,respectively.The effect of the progressive consumption of these oceans and the associated collisions of Cimmeria and India with Eurasia probably only had a minor effect on the exhumation of the Siberian Altai-Sayan.More likely,tectonic forces from the east(present-day coordinates) as a result of the building and collapse of the Mongol-Okhotsk orogen and rifting in the Baikal region shaped the current Siberian Altai-Sayan topography.Although many of these hypothesised links need to be tested further,they allow a first-order insight into the dynamic response and the stress propagation pathways from the Eurasian margin into the continental interior. | Stijn Glorie Johan De Grave | 2016 | Geoscience Frontiers2016,7,2: | 13 |

| 9 | RANKL deletion in periodontal ligament and bone lining cells blocks orthodontic tooth movement显示文摘The bone remodeling process in response to orthodontic forces requires the activity of osteoclasts to allow teeth to move in the direction of the force applied. Receptor activator of nuclear factor-κB ligand(RANKL) is essential for this process although its cellular source in response to orthodontic forces has not been determined. Orthodontic tooth movement is considered to be an aseptic inflammatory process that is stimulated by leukocytes including T and B lymphocytes which are presumed to stimulate bone resorption. We determined whether periodontal ligament and bone lining cells were an essential source of RANKL by tamoxifen induced deletion of RANKL in which Cre recombinase was driven by a 3.2 kb reporter element of the Col1α1 gene in experimental mice(Col1α1.CreER^(TM+).RANKL^(f/f)) and compared results with littermate controls(Col1α1.CreER^(TM-).RANKL^(f/f)). By examination of Col1α1.CreER^(TM+).ROSA26 reporter mice we showed tissue specificity of tamoxifen induced Cre recombinase predominantly in the periodontal ligament and bone lining cells. Surprisingly we found that most of the orthodontic tooth movement and formation of osteoclasts was blocked in the experimental mice, which also had a reduced periodontal ligament space. | 10 | Apatite-fission-track geochronology and its tectonic correlation in the Dabieshan orogen,central China显示文摘AFT data of granitoid and metamorphic samples from the Dabieshan orogen have an age range between 96.4 Ma and 41.9 Ma coupled with confined track lengths of 11.5—14.0 μm, reflecting the cooling time of rocks differentially through the 100℃± isotherm. The Juras- sic-Eogene sediments from the North Huaiyang and Hefei basin, however, yield their AFT ages of 128.8—62.0 Ma with mean track lengths of 8.6—11.9 μm, recording a complicated thermal de- velopment of the basin. These AFT data structurally allowing the coupling between the orogen and the basin are to a great extent considered as the result from the control of NNE-trending regional tectonics. It took place approximately at 95—90 Ma that the orogen developed with an abrupt shift from the doming extension to the differential transtension, which is assumed to be related with the changes of the convergence between the Western Pacific and Eurasia plates. The differentially sinistral strike-slipping from the transtension between Tanlu and Shang- cheng-Macheng faults brought the doming extension of the orogen shrunk sharply in Late Cre- taceous. In Eogene, the full-grown transtension that dominated in East Asia was caused mainly by a rapid decrease of the rates of the Western Pacific convergence, which can be therefore re- garded as a major mechanism creating the zonal anomalies of 60—40 Ma in the orogen. The thermal anomaly of 70—40 Ma zonally along the Tanlu fault cooled more slowly than the anomaly of 60—55 Ma zoning along the Shangcheng-Macheng fault, but the 60—40 Ma anomaly trending E-W in hinterlands of the orogen seems to be relicts of the doming extension as a result of inten- sive rebuilding by the transtension. In addition, the orogen was also reactivated by the far-field effect from India-Asia collision in Eogene, where major NWW-trending faults played an important role in facilitating such far-field tectonic transferring. In Oligocene to Miocene, the Dabieshan orogen remained a few thermal disturbances with their AFT ages particularly in coincidence with the time of opening and closing of the South China Sea. | P. | 11 | Assessment of the cardiovascular and gastrointestinal autonomic complications of diabetes显示文摘The global prevalence of diabetes mellitus is increasing; arguably as a consequence of changes in diet, lifestyle and the trend towards urbanization. Unsurprisingly, the incidence of both micro and macrovascular complications of diabetes mirrors this increasing prevalence. Amongst the complications with the highest symptom burden, yet frequently under-diagnosed and sub-optimally treated, is diabetic autonomic neuropathy, itself potentially resulting in cardiovascular autonomic neuropathy and gastrointestinal(GI) tract dysmotility. The aims of this review are fourfold. Firstly to provide an overview of the pathophysiological processes that cause diabetic autonomic neuropathy. Secondly, to discuss both the established and emerging cardiometric methods for evaluating autonomic nervous system function in vivo. | 14 | Meso-Cenozoic tectonic evolution of the Talas-Fergana region of the Kyrgyz Tien Shan revealed by low-temperature basement and detrital thermochronology显示文摘This study provides new low-temperature thermochronometric data, mainly apatite fission track data on the basement rocks in and adjacent to the Talas-Fergana Fault, in the Kyrgyz Tien Shan in the first place.In the second place, we also present new detrital apatite fission track data on the Meso-Cenozoic sediments from fault related basins and surrounding intramontane basins. Our results confirm multistaged Meso-Cenozoic tectonic activity, possibly induced by the accretion of the so-called Cimmerian blocks to the Eurasian margin. New evidence for this multi-staged thermo-tectonic activity is found in the data of both basement and Meso-Cenozoic sediment samples in or close to the Talas-Fergana Fault.Zircon(U-Th)/He and apatite fission track data constrain rapid Late TriassiceE arly Jurassic and Late JurassiceE arly Cretaceous basement cooling in the Kyrgyz Tien Shan around 200 Ma and 130 -100 Ma respectively. Detrital apatite fission track results indicate a different burial history on both sides of the Talas-Fergana Fault. The apatite fission track system of the Jurassic sediments in the Middle Tien Shan unit east of the Talas-Fergana Fault is not reset, while the Jurassic sediments in the Fergana Basin and Yarkand-Fergana Basin, west of the fault zone, are partially and in some cases even totally reset. | 20 | Npy deletion in an alcohol non-preferring rat model elicits differential effects on alcohol consumption and body weight显示文摘Neuropeptide Y(NPY) is widely expressed in the central nervous system and influences many physiological processes.It is located within the rat quantitative trait locus(QTL) for alcohol preference on chromosome 4.Alcohol-nonpreferring(NP) rats consume very little alcohol,but have significantly higher NPY expression in the brain than alcohol-preferring(P) rats.We capitalized on this phenotypic difference by creating an Npy knockout(KO) rat using the inbred NP background to evaluate NPY effects on alcohol consumption.Zinc finger nuclease(ZNF) technology was applied,resulting in a 26-bp deletion in the Npy gene.RT-PCR,Western blotting and immunohistochemistry confirmed the absence of Npy mRNA and protein in KO rats.Alcohol consumption was increased in Npy^(+/-) but not Npy^(-/-) rats,while Npy^(-/-) rats displayed significantly lower body weight when compared to Npy^(+/+) rats.In whole brain tissue,expression levels of Npy-related and other alcohol-associated genes,Npy1 r,Npy2r,Npy5 r,Agrp,Mc3 r,Mc4r,Crh and CrMr,were significantly greater in Npy^(-/-) rats,whereas Pome and Crhr2 expressions were highest in Npy^(+/-) rats.These findings suggest that the NPY-system works in close coordination with the melanocortin(MC) and corticotropin-releasing hormone(CRH) systems to modulate alcohol intake and body weight. | Bin Qiu Richard L.Bell Yong Cao Lingling Zhang Robert B.Stewart Tamara Graves Lawrence Lumeng Weidong Yong Tiebing Liang | 2016 | Journal of Genetics and Genomics2016,43,7: | 2 |
