5Effect of Gurney flap on flow separation and aerodynamic performance of an airfoil under rain and icing conditions显示文摘In the present study, special attention is paid to numerically investigate the aerodynamic performance of the NACA 0012 airfoil under rain and icing conditions with the aim to better understand the severe aerodynamic performance penalties of aircraft in flight.Furthermore,in order to control the flow separation and improve the aerodynamic performance of the airfoil under critical atmospheric conditions, the Gurney flap with different heights is attached to the trailing edge of the airfoil. The simulation is done at a Reynolds number of 3.1 × 105 under different atmospheric conditions including dry, rain, icing and coupling of rain and icing conditions.A two-way momentum coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian multiphase method is used to simulate the process of water film layer formed on the airfoil surface due to rainfall.According to the results, accumulation of water due to rainfall and ice accretion on the airfoil surface inevitably provides notable negative effects on the aerodynamic performance of the airfoil. It is concluded that icing induces a higher aerodynamic degradation than rain due to very intensive ice accretion. The Gurney flap as a passive flow control method with a favorable height for each condition is very beneficial. The maximum increment of the lift-to-drag ratio is achieved by Gurney Hap with a height of 0.01 of airfoil chord length for dry and rain conditions and 0.02 of airfoil chord length for icing and coupling of rain and icing conditions, respectively.Hossein Fatahian Hesamoddin Salarian Majid Eshagh Nimvari Jahanfar Khaleghinia 2020Acta Mechanica Sinica2020,36,3:1

101-(1-Alkylsulfonic)-3-methylimidazolium chloride as a reusable Brφnsted acid catalyst for the regioselective azidolysis of epoxides under solvent-free conditions显示文摘In this study, 1-(1-alkylsulfonic)-3-methylimidazolium chloride as a new, green, and reusable Br?nsted acid catalyst was prepared. In this protocol, we used for the regioselective ring-opening reactions of various epoxiodes with sodium azide to afford the corresponding b-azido alcohols in excellent yields and short reaction time under mild and neutral reaction conditions. This method offers several advantages including excellent regioselectivity, clean reactions, simple work-up procedure, a recyclable catalyst, and use of an eco-friendly catalyst.Sobhan Rezayati Eshagh Rezaee Nezhad Rahimeh Hajinasiri 2016Chinese Chemical Letters2016,27,6:1

14Predictors of death in hospitalized elderly patients with COVID-19 in Mashhad, Iran, in 2021: A historical cohort study显示文摘Objective:The present study aimed to identify predictive factors for mortality among elderly individuals infected with COVID-19.Methods and Materials:This historical cohort study was conducted from July to December 2021 in the specialized departments for COVID-19 patients at one of the hospitals in Mashhad,Iran.Data were collected from the medical records of 404 elderly patients.Sampling was conducted using the convenience sampling method.Data were gathered through a demographic and clinical checklist developed by the researcher.Univariate and multivariate Cox regression were used to analyze the data. Results:The mortality rate among elderly individuals was 25%(n=101).Multiple regression analysis revealed significant associations between mortality and age(hazard ratio[HR]=0.58,95%confidence interval[CI]:0.38,0.88;P=0.011),level of consciousness(HR=0.31,95%CI:0.19,0.50;P<0.001),and SpO2(HR=0.58,95%CI:0.37,0.92;P=0.022).The probability of survival after the 19th day of hospitalization was 50%.Conclusions:Determining predictors of death allows for early identification of elderly individuals at risk and enables the health-care team to provide more effective care, ultimately saving the lives of elderly individuals by allocating appropriate facilities and equipment.Vajihe BINIAZ Alireza Afshari SAFAVI Forogh ZAMANI Mozhgan RAHNAMA Abdolghani ABDOLLAHIMOHAMMAD Eshagh ILDARABADI 2023Journal of Integrative Nursing2023,5,4:0
15Dieback intensity but not functional and taxonomic diversity indices predict forest productivity in different management conditions: Evidence from a semi-arid oak forest ecosystem显示文摘The relationships between different aspects of diversity(taxonomic, structural and functional)and the aboveground biomass(AGB)as a major component of global carbon balance have been studied extensively but rarely under the simultaneous influence of forest dieback and management. In this study,we investigate the relationships between taxonomic, functional and structural diversity of woody species(trees and shrubs)and AGB along a gradient of dieback intensity(low, moderate, high and no dieback as control)under two contrasted management conditions(protection by central government vs.traditional management by natives)in a semi-arid oak(Quereus brantii Lindl.)forest ecosystem.AGB was estimated and taxonomic diversity, community weighted average(CWM)and functional divergence indices were produced. We found that the aerial biomass was significantly higher in the intensively used area(14.57(±1.60)t/hm^(2))than in the protected area(8.70(±1.05)t/hm^(2))due to persistence of some large trees but with decreasing values along the dieback intensity gradient in both areas.CWM of height(H),leaf nitrogen content(LNC)and leaf dry matter content(LDMC)were also higher in the traditional managed area than in the protected area.In contrast,in the protected area, the woody species diversity was higher and the inter-specific competition was more intense, explaining a reduced H,biomass and LDMC.Contrary to the results of CWM,none of the functional diversity traits(FDvar)was affected by dieback intensity and only FDvar values of LNC,leaf phosphorus content(LPC)and LDMC were influenced by management. We also found significantly positive linear relationships of AGB with CWM and FDvar indices in the protected area, and with taxonomic and structural diversity indices in the traditional managed area. These results emphasize that along a dieback intensity gradient, the leaf functional traits are efficient predictors in estimating the AGB in protected forests, while taxonomic and structural indices provide better results in forests under a high human pressure. Finally, species identity of the dominant species(i.e.,Brant’s oak)proves to be the main driver of AGB,supporting the selection effect hypothesis.Mona KARAMI Mehdi HEYDARI Ali SHEYKHOLESLAMI Majid ESHAGH NIMVARI Reza OMIDIPOUR YUAN Zuoqiang Bernard PREVOSTO 2022Journal of Arid Land2022,14,2:0
