1Effects of manganese doping on magnetocaloric effect in Ge-rich Gd_5Ge_(2.05)Si_(1.95) alloy显示文摘The structure, magnetic and magnetocaloric properties of the Ge-rich Gd5Ge2.05-xSi1.95-xMn2x (x=0.01 and 0.03) alloys were investigated by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and magnetization measurements. The results of energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX) and X-ray diffraction analyses showed that the composition and crystal structure of the alloys were desired. DSC measurements were performed to determine the transformation temperatures for each alloy. Both alloys exhibited the first order phase transition around room temperature. The alloys showed an anti-ferromagnetic transition around 60 K. The isothermal magnetic entropy changes of the alloys were determined from the isothermal magnetization measurements by using the Maxwell relation. The maximum values of isothermal magnetic entropy change of the Gd5Ge2.05-xSi1.95-xMn2x alloy with x=0.01 was found to be -12.1 and -19.8 J/(kg·K) using Maxwell equation around 268 K in applied fields of 2 and 5 T, respectively.E.Yüzüak I.Dincer Y.Elerman 2012Journal of Rare Earths2012,30,3:4
2Giant magnetocaloric effect in the Gd_5 Ge_(2.025)Si_(1.925)In_(0.05) compound显示文摘The magnetocaloric properties of the Gd 5 Ge 2.025 Si 1.925 In 0.05 compound have been studied by x-ray diffraction,magnetic and heat capacity measurements.Powder x-ray diffraction measurement shows that the compound has a dominant phase of monoclinic Gd5Ge2Si2-type structure and a small quantity of Gd 5(Ge,Si) 3-type phase at room temperature.At about 270 K,this compound shows a first order phase transition.The isothermal magnetic entropy change(△SM) is calculated from the temperature and magnetic field dependences of the magnetization and the temperature dependence of MCE in terms of adiabatic temperature change(△Tad) is calculated from the isothermal magnetic entropy change and the temperature variation in zero-field heat-capacity data.The maximum S M is 13.6 J·kg-1·K-1 and maximum △Tad is 13 K for the magnetic field change of 0-5 T.The Debye temperature(θD) of this compound is 149 K and the value of DOS at the Fermi level is 1.6 states/eV·atom from the low temperature zero-field heat-capacity data.A considerable isothermal magnetic entropy change and adiabatic temperature change under a field change of 0-5 T jointly make the Gd5Ge2.025Si1.925 In 0.05 compound an attractive candidate for a magnetic refrigerant.E.Yzak I.Dincer Y.Elerman 2010Chinese Physics B2010,19,3:2
3Magnetocaloric properties of the Gd_5Si_(2.05-x)Ge_(1.95-x)Mn_(2x) compounds显示文摘The influence of the manganese-alloying on the structure and magnetocaloric properties of the Gd5Si2.05Ge1.95 compound was studied by X-ray powder diffraction and magnetization measurements.The Gd5Si2.05-xGe1.95-xMn2x(2x=0,0.03 and 0.08) compounds crystallized in the Gd5Si2Ge2-type monoclinic structure.In all X-ray powder diffraction patterns,a minor hexagonal Gd5Si3 phase was observed as a second phase.With increasing Mn content,the unit cell volume increased.For the compounds with x=0,0.03 and 0.08,the first order phase transition was observed.The maximum isothermal magnetic entropy change of the Gd5Si2.05-xGe1.95-xMn2x compound with 2x=0.03 at 275 K was found to be-11.6 J/(kg?K) in an applied field of 5 T.E.Yüzüak I.Dincer Y.Elerman 2010Journal of Rare Earths2010,28,3:2

15Giant magnetocaloric effect in Tb_5Ge_(2-x)Si_(2-x)Mn_(2x) compounds显示文摘The crystal structure,magnetic and magnetocaloric characteristics of the pseduo ternary compounds of Tb5Ge2 xSi2 xMn2x(0 ≤ 2x ≤ 0.1) were investigated by x-ray powder diffraction and magnetization measurements.The x-ray powder diffraction results show that all compounds preserve the monoclinic phase as the majority phase and all the synthesized compounds were observed to be ferromagnetic from magnetization measurements.Magnetic phase transitions were interpreted in terms of Landau theory.Maximum isothermal magnetic entropy change value(20.84 J.kg-1.K-1) was found for Tb5Ge1.95Si1.95Mn0.1 at around 123 K in the magnetic field change of 5 T.E.Yzak B.Emre Y.Elerman A.Ycel 2010Chinese Physics B2010,19,5:0
